Its a Dargah, people believe here that what ever they pray will happen. Here people will force you to buy a shall and to put it inside or simply they will give flowers cover and charge 250₹ in the name of their god. Do not entertain them.

Tomb of Salim Chisti sits next to the Fatepur Sikri complex. It can be accessed either through the Badshahi gate, towards Fatepur Sikri or Through the Grand Buland Darwaza. The Salim Chisti Dargah sits at the centre. You can pay your respects at the Dargah, and enjoy the qawali music peformace just outside. Be cautious of guides, who charge a very small sum upfront but then push you to buy Chador and Flowers at an exorbitant price.

The original guide charged us the fixed price and then his "son" tried to charged us the original price (we already gave both of them a tip). When we didnt want to pay again he got angry with us. The "son" tried to make us pay un several stands (clothes, taking off shoes, sacred tomb...Even if we told him we didnt want anything. Then he tricked us into buyimg some marble pieces in a price 10 times higher than the one we later saw in Agra. He said It was a great price because we were his friends... He made a fool out of us. The place was great and very beautiful, but i would strongly recommend not hiring any guide and not buying anything. What a bad experience.

The name of the city is derived from the village called Sikri which occupied the spot before. An Archaeological Survey of India (ASIexcavation from 1999 to 2000 indicated that there was a habitation, temples and commercial centres here before Akbar built his capital. The region was settled by Sungas following their expansion. It was controlled by Sikarwar Rajputs from 7th to 16th century CE till the Battle of Khanwa (1527).The khanqah of Sheikh Salim Chishti existed earlier at this place. Akbars son Jahangir was born at the village of Sikri to his consort Mariam-uz-Zamani in 1569 and that year Akbar began construction of a religious compound to commemorate the Sheikh who had predicted the birth. After Jahangirs second birthday, he began the construction of a walled city and imperial palace here. The city came to be known as Fatehpur Sikri, the "City of Victory", after Akbars victorious Gujarat campaign in 1573.

Its definitely a place that can give you serenity inside and you would like to spend good time here (but only the religious people who run after you for money every second are something I would like to avoid when coming to this place.)Transport facility is a little issue which irritates you in the summer season.Recommendation:You can bring your chadhawa chadar and flowers to the dargah (better than getting the overpriced and low quality one there)Visit in the winters or early part of the year.

Tomb of Salim chsiti is situated inside big door of victory or Buland darwaza. It was bulit in 1580 AD. A historical monument and faith of every religion comes here to worship and tie the sacred thread as per the locals around here. One can see the gala jam session of people enjoying Sufi music 🎶 playing well and attracting crowds towards them to listen 🎧 I came here in the morning hours at 10am and enjoyed next 2 hours being around the monument. It was phenomenal with the burials of many people around. Enjoyed my time over this holy place. Being a tourist you will be amazed by people how they are behind you to chase and take their services in any form be it guide or telling you shayari. Nevertheless if you don’t wish to take their service try saying no despite their chasing chaos. At least you can take guide if you wish to learn more don’t . Do visit and enjoy your time around here ❤️❤️ it’s an UNESCO world heritage site and maintained by ASI of culture ministry of government of India 🇮🇳

The place has its own beauty and one should definitely pay a visit. However, you will find a LOT of cleanliness issues, the guides will push you to buy chaadar from the vendors sitting at the back of the darga even if you dont intend to buy it (Commission aligned as per the sales).Do note the chaadar cost is pretty high and the quality is not that great and the vendors would say the the price you pay and the chaadar you donate goes for the welfare of the poor children but I doubt that

Full of Hawkers, theyll gather around you and ask you to buy stuff even if you dont want to buy. If you hire guide, hell tell you less about the Buland Darwaza etc but try his best to make you buy Chadar for Dargah even If you dont wish to. Cleanliness is partly maintained, as compared to the adjoining Fort. The monument is spectacular, especially the Buland Darwaza.

One of the finest examples of Mughal architecture and a noted religious centre for Muslims is the Dargah or Tomb of Sheikh Salim Chisti in Fatehpur Sikri. Emperor Akbar had this tomb built in the honour of Sufi Saint Salim Chisti between 1571 and 1580. The saint was a successor of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, whose mausoleum is located in Ajmer, popularly known as Ajmer Sharif.A popular legend states that Akbar who did not have a successor was blessed with a baby boy by the blessings of Khwaja Salim Chisti. To show his respect, the great emperor named his boy Salim, who became the fourth Mughal ruler and was known by his imperial name Jahangir. The tomb of Sheikh Salim Chisti is a white marble structure placed in the middle of a huge sandstone formation. Showcasing excellence in craftsmanship are the jali screens that are intricately carved out of marble. You will be amazed to see the spectacular serpentine brackets that are made to support the broad chajja on four sides.Every year, a number of women pray here for a child and tie a thread on the jali windows. When their wish is fulfilled, they come back to express their gratitude to the saint for granting their wish.Location

Saw this place back in December of 2019 while visiting the Fatehpur Sikri Fort. The Tomb of Salim Chisti is Sufi saint for whom the tomb was built. The Mughal Emperor attributed the birth of his sons to the saint and so had the tomb built. The inner tombs contain the dargah or shrine, but unless you’re a believer, looking at the tomb from the outside will be enough.

We parked at the parking for Fatehpur Sikri and took the government bus up to Fatehpur Sikri - walked all around the Imperial Palace complex before exiting to the Jami Masjid and the Tomb of Salim Chishti. Shoes can be carried in but not worn. Cant wear shorts or shoes into the complex. Saw people wrap scarves around their knees. In summer keep your socks on. Open air courtyard gets hot underfoot. Can store shoes at gates for Rs 5 each. Now to the dargah. People friendly staff help you enter and provide caps for those who dont have them. The beautiful white marble work gleams in the sun. Inside the saints grave is a comfortably moving crowd of people. Take a moment to check the painting work on the walls. Mostly flower motifs.

The name of the city derives from the village called Sikri which occupied the spot before. An ASI excavation from 1999-2000 indicated that there was a habitation, temples and commercial centres here before Akbar built his capital. It was also a much-loved place of Babur who called it Shukri for its lake of water needed for his armies. He used it for relaxation and also defeated Rana Sanga on its outskirts.Akbars son Jahangir was born at the village of Sikri in 1569 and that year Akbar began construction of a religious compound to commemorate the Sheikh who had predicted the birth. After Jahangirs second birthday, he began the construction of a walled city and imperial palace here.

There are two units. One is tomb of Salim chisti and other is the palace where the king use to reside. Both are beautiful! But!!! Tomb of Salim chisti has a whole lot of sellers who are behind u and irritates you by going around you. There are necklace sellers, fruit sellers, handcraft sellers and what not. They continually follow you with a voice that buy this buy that... They dont let you have a peaceful experience!!!! Gudies have fixed rates please refer the same. There is a electric bus that goes through the downside area but that has also a lot of these sellers woh would be behind you to lure... Also beware of the drivers stopping at the commission based juctions as they tend to park and go for food joints where they have their commission tied up... They tomb of chisti has a tradition of buying a "chaddar which serves the purpose of lively of people of skiri"... Not sure how true is it... And guide and chaddar person will make sure u buy it and will force you with emotional tone to buy it.... I personally think the monument should be restored and saved from these selling tactics and government should do something better for livelihood of these people!!!

I have visited this tomb of Hazrat Salim Chisti R.A. twice so far. He is one of the most revered saints in India. It is definitely a very good place to visit, has lot of historic importance as well. One thing that I would like to caution is that this location is not wheel-chair friendly. So if you have someone with you who is elderly or who have difficulty walking, for them it will be really tough to reach the tomb. The stairs are also very much steep. The other thing is that the best weather to visit this place is Winter. During summers it gets really hot, so much that you cannot walk on the flooring inside the campus (you will have to take off your shoes before entering).

Located inside Fatehpur Sikri Fort, this place has religious importance for everyone. It is said that you all wishes get fulfilled here. One important to remember here that no one can force you to pay for anything. GOD never want gifts or money; GOD just want your faith & pure prayer. Here you can encounter with some people who will ask you to pay for Chadar . Even your Guide may also ask for the same. But if you dont want to do that just say them NO. Because GOD only want your faith nothing else.Be aware..dont be a Fool & pay wisely.

What the hell !!!There is a lot of rush on the tomb most of the times, but it is a must visit place because of buland darwaja, jodhabais mehal & fort. Shoes must be left outside buland darwaja & there is no management. The shopkeepers are sitting on the path, shoes are lying there & its a great mess to get inside this premises.

White marble Dargah…!!!After Passing Buland Darwaja, you will see it. It is the burial place of the Sufi saint, Salim Chisti. This dargah is constructed by Akbar as a mark of his respect for the Sufi saint, who foretold the birth of Akbars son, who was named Prince Salim after the Sufi Saint and later succeeded Akbar to the throne of the Mughal Empire, as JahangirThere is a tradition of tying a thread inside the dargah and making a wish with it. They say with one thread one can make 3 wishes and the no. of knots show the no. of wishes one has made! When the wish is fulfilled, the thread has to be untied. Sometimes Live Qawwali happened there in the night. I want to see that. The visitors are advised to be careful of guides who are actually touted. And Some people will bug you to buy sheets and flowers which you just need to ignore. plz bargain while taking chadar.

From a Tourism point of view you must visit this place. But, again problem in Uttar Pradesh is Cleaniness. How can one even think about spitting here and there at the tourist places? You cant enter inside with your shoes in, but people inside of it eating food and throwing remaining food and its packets on the floor. This place is just as filthy as other monuments in Agra. Really disappointed.
