Beautiful. Very well made, so many intricacies in the architecture!
Tourist department should pay more attention there
Amazing place in Gwalior every one going to this beautiful place.
Tomb of Sufi Saint from 16th Century built by Akbar. One of the best Sandstone Jali works I have seen in any of the Monuments. The outdoor gardens are very well landscaped. This Monument is right in the centre of Bazaar area and hence it is better to visit early morning before Market starts or go by rickshaw or walk. No parking available at site. Public Utilities available. Site is very well maintained. Their are some more graves of his family members outside the tomb. Worth a visit.
Underrated place that can only be accessed via 1 way through main road with a narrow lane connecting this place to it.Ghaus Tomb is a sufi shrine built beautifully with intricate jaali work by carving the yellow sand stone of Gwalior. Its a tranquil place that helps you feel some serenity and peace, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. One thing that I found really interesting os that people have attached their wedding invitation on the main shrine to invite the sufi saint to bless their families and let everything happen without any obstacle. If you are visiting this city and have some time to explore it, Id suggest you to visit this place.
A must visit place in Gwalior.. Dont miss this place...Tomb of Mohammad Ghaus is located near Hazira Chowk in Gwalior. There is no entry fees to visit this place. Timings of this place are from Sunrise to Sunset ( according to a board right near entry. The entrance is inside a small street hence not clearly visible from main road.. This place is more popular as Tansen ka maqbara and not as tomb of Mohammad Ghaus..It is a beautiful park where there are many masoleum and tombs. The main Building is the Masoleum of Mohammad Ghaus, just on the right side , tomb of Tansen exists. And to the left , tomb of Bahu Sahiba exists, she was the wife of Mohammad Ghaus. And there are many other graves of their subordinates... the park is well maintained and peaceful.. The main tomb is a marvel of architecture. The main building is very huge , has a great scale and the jalis on the outside of the building are very detailed and beautiful, one can spend hours relaxing on the beautiful garden watching this beautiful masterpiece of architecture. The tomb of Ghuas has a white grave inside the tomb and people come here to pray..So dont go with the shoes inside..Just remove them outside the stairs. The best time to visit this place is early morning or in the evening...Sharing autos are also easily available from Hazira Chowk. Car Parking space is not available..
For the lovers of music and followers of shattari sufi silsila its a place of pilgrimage. I was disappointed at its upkeep. Approch roads need to be cleared and made better. ASI also needs to upgrade its discription of the monument and make it better.
Hazrat Muhammad Ghaus Gwaliyari (R.A), One of the renowned Sufi Saint of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, India. It was a mesmerizing experience visiting the Dargah of Hazrat Muhammad Ghaus Gwaliyari (R.A), Very refreshing and peaceful experience.
Located near Gwalior station. Very old monument. This site was under ASI so the entire campus very much clean. Here we see very good landscaping on front of the monument. Entire landscape devided into four part , concept was Charbagh from Mughal garden. Entry fee 25/-.
Good place but there is no toilet facilities
Beautiful place with a huge park to walk around. The place has spirituality in it, the busy market takes you back in the time, the place also does not charge an entry fee and is nicely maintained.
Tomb of Muhammad GhausThe largest tomb in the park belongs to Muhammad Ghaus. Born in 1500 AD, Muhammad Ghaus was a Sufi saint and musician who assisted Barbur with his acquisition of Gwalior Fort in 1526.The tomb is square with a slightly squat central dome which was once decorated with blue tiles, now sadly missing. The walls of the tomb are nearly 2m thick, supporting hexagonal corner towers crowned by smaller domes. The highlight of this tomb from an architectural perspective are the carved stone lattices (jaalis, which are on the outer wall of a lofty verandah that surrounds the inner chamber.Mohammed Ghaus was the teacher (Guruof Tansen. Tomb of Tansen is nearby to the tomb of his guru.
Visited this tomb back in January before the lockdown. This tomb was constructed for Mohammad Ghaus, the Sufi saint and advisor to the Mughal Emperor Akbar, music teacher to Tansen, whose tomb is also in this tomb complex. The building walls are beautifully crafted of fine latticework, while the building is a fine example of Mughal architecture. One of the best things to see in Gwalior.
It’s a tomb for Mohd Ghaus and Tansen at one place. Good garden to sit in sun and relax with less crowd. From tourist perspective, nothing much to see and admire, it can be a tick in the box. If your schedule is tight then you can skip this place. There is no ticket to visit this and toilets are ther just at the entry of building. Whole premise or area is not too big. Don’t take your care as ther is no parking and then you have to park on road side only.
Tomb of Moh Gaus, a famous Sufi saint in the reign of Akbar, Situated in Hazira Gwalior. Saint died in Agra but buried in Gwalior. A memorial of Tansen, disciple of Moh Gaus also placed nearby his tomb. This place is considered a holy remarkable place for classical singers and artist. They offer prayers here to strengthen their spiritual and melodious connection with art. There is also a tamarind tree, chewing of its leaf makes voice more melodious, a tradition associated with this place.
16th century sculpture with Stone zafri work. Mf. Ghaus was a Muslim saint who helped Babar to conquer Gwalior Fort in 1526
It is just a graveyard of Sufi saint Muhammad Gaus and his spiritual disciples. Tansen was most famous disciple of him. He was all the time greatest musician in the human history after Baiju Bawara. He was one of the navratna of Mugal Baadshah Mohammad Jalaluddin Akbars court. An anothers graveyard is also made up near the gate on the left side at Tansens tomb. And a tamarind tree is also situated on the left of the back of the Tansens tomb . A dargaah is placed in the main building. Bahu sahiba ka makbara indicates a ladys memorial on the left side of back of this premises. On some grave something is written which may be in Arabic, Persian or Urdu but we cant understand this.....💐
Marvel of Spiritual StrengthIt is located on Northern fringe of Gwalior city with beautifully spread lawns and variety of Rose plants, adding colours to its serenity. A beautiful piece of Persian architecture where saint Ghous Mohammad and his family members rest in peace with his disciple and music.
Beautiful & well maintained monument to great Sufi saint Mohammed Ghous. The legend is that Ghous was a Afghan prince who fought with Babur but subsequently became a Sufi saint. He was guru of Tansen as well. A small tomb of Tansen the great classical singer & composer is also present in this complex.Built in 16th century during the time of king Akbar the monument has beautiful & intricate lattice or Jali work. Set in green lawns the Tomb looks beautiful. It is a Dargah in fact as per stone notice board there - मोहम्मद गौस की दरगाह.Open early morning till six in the evening. Entry free. Parking not available. Afternoons are hot therefore take care.
I enjoyed a lot. This place is situated in hazira. This is the tomb of Tasen who was counted in 9 gems of Akbar. Many people come here in morning for fresh air. There is no ticket to visit this monument. This is a historical place built by Akbar.
A historical place seeped with the legends of Miyan Tansen his mentor Mohd Ghaus and his son Bilas Khan. This is also the venue of annual music fest that is held every year in the month of December.
Its a very beautiful historical place in gwalior and every year one event are held here which is called tansen samaroh
Its a good place to relax in the city. One can witness hundreds of pigeons flying. Big lawns to relax and chill out with family and friends.
Set amongst a serene park frequented mostly by local populace one can find this monument built more than five hundred years ago.Road leading upto the monument is a bit congested but once inside it’s very peaceful.Best visits would be during late afternoon for the golden light from the sun.
Great historical place ,tomb of mohomad gauss
The tomb looks so nice and astheticlly beautiful. And environment here is also so nice. And one must come here to spend quality time here. With freinds and family. But some people do not care about this beautiful place as they sit on tombs as well as week parts of the structure. Which should be not done. And this should be looked by the athorities.
Historical place..well maintained..intricate jaali work on stone ...green lawn maintained around the monument where one can sit and relax..Car parking is an issue as the parking was located in a very busy place and it was occupied by hawkers and entrance was blocked
Tomb of Mohammad gaus is a must visit place in gwalior. Tomb of tansen is also situated in tha campus of Mohammad gaus tomb. Peoples tie knot here to fulfill there wishes. By the grace of Mohammad gaus only, parents of tansen got the child who was tansen. Tansen wished his tomb near Mohammad gaus tomb.
Good historic place at historic city.Nice place.Peaceful atmosphere.
It’s a nice place and lot of rich history involved in the monuments. As it is of pure tourist place everybody irrespective of their dressing should be allowed to visit the tombs. Lifting this kind of unnecessary restrictions and keeping strict vigil on protecting the historical monuments would make tourists happy.
The tomb of Muhammad Gaus is a tomb of the 16th Century Sufi Saint. It is near to the tomb of Musical Maestro Tansen! 😉
The place is surely a great piece of art. But only one issue is the traffic that you have to face as it is located on a very busy market area. The entry is free in this monument. There are parks around the building. This is basically a mosoleum.Besides this place also has graves of the great musician TANSEN.One can surely find a peace there and will be amazed by the history.
