Tokyo Sukiyaki House in Ballarat

I’m fond of the culinary arts of the orient and Japanese cuisine is among the more highly regarded. One such delicacy I’m always in search of in the fabled Una Don. Eel with sticky sauce over a bowl of rice.To my surprise while venturing into Wendouree Village to cash my lottery winnings I staggered past this establishment and bore witness to Una Don showcased on the menus positioned outside the venue.With little haste I entered to establishment and took a seat. I decided to choose the lunch special B option with the miso and ‘any drink’. Asked for an apple juice (normally $4but was rejected, the waitstaff stating the drink was to expensive to be part of the special. I decided to get the sofa water instead (also $4which was ok. Don’t know how that works but I guess the staff were looking out for my health.The una Don itself was ok. The rice was of a cheap quality and did not enhance the experience particularly.Probably will not revisit this establishment. There are plenty of other Japanese restaurants which out pace this by a mile

Seems like its gone down hill. Grimy restaurant with a shopping trolley in it next to the tables for some reason. Bento box came with chips.. wilted iceberg in the beef, Ive heard of Asian fusion but it was a bit much. Most of the boxes missing their sides which was odd.

A horrible experience ! Food is substandard , the service atrocious - hasn’t served what we ordered in full and not even apologetic - and I had to tell him on the face that I have never had such a bad experience in anywhere in aus. Also there was a half eaten noodle plate on the counter , this funny guy was answering phones munching it- it’s a beyond repair place - avoid by all means

Great place to stop for lunch before/after some shopping, staff are friendly and the food was delicious! Will be back!

The chips is shocking I mean I never found chips on a bento, wish the chips were salad. Portion wise is okay. Unagi sauce is the only thing stand out.

Slow service and limited food options

Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! We stopped in for some lunch today and were so glad we did!!!!The entree spring rolls and tofu; YUUUUUM!!!The fried rice was very delicious, it had so much flavour! It came out nice and hot too which is just a bonus!The service is great and they are very kind and attentive.Thank you so much!!! We will be back!!Cannot wait

Tried to place an order at 6:30pm on a day they’re open until 8pm and was told we’re not taking anymore orders because of how busy we are. Yet the place is completely empty.If you don’t want business 🤷🏻‍♂️ No worries.

Absolutely delicious food and friendly service. Had the Katsudon Bento box which was delicious and a large serving. Mum loved her Yaki Udon noodle dish aswell. Highly recommend! Best place to eat in Stockland Wendouree.

The $13 ten don consisted of a mix of soggy deep fried vegetables and plain rice with soy sauce. Disgusting food, I couldve made it better at home for half the price. Dont eat here.

So yummy! My partner and I shared chicken sukiyaki. We havent had this since we went to Tokyo a few years ago. If I lived close by I would definitely go back again. Service was good too.

This restaurant is really under exposed. The surroundings are pleasant..the food is excellent..the staff are there when you need them and unobtrusive otherwise.I was treated to dinner with my family for my birthday and we are unanimous in our decision to return in the future. We are also spreading the word to the rest of our family and friends.Everybody needs to experience this fun dining experience at least once!😀

Good meal, but dont be fooled by their lunch packages that include "any drink" - you have to pay the difference if you want anything other than a standard soft drink... which is fine, but not what the menu said. Overall a nice lunch and something different to the usual suspects.

Enjoyed the evening out with my partner, food was great , service there when you wanted them. Not too fancy great family restraunt as well, the kids that were there very well behaved ,well done parents.

Beef tataki that is served in chewy lumps, no tenderising at all. Beef and potato croquets made with instant potato and grissly mince. Seriously if you want return customers you need to use better quality ingredients - especially at the prices you are charging. We wont be going back.

Well, what can I say...After reading everyones review of this place, I thought it would be quite nice.. I was greatly proven wrong.1.The customer service was pretty lack luster. The lady who served me didnt really seem too happy about anything.2.The food came out in about 5 minutes of ordering which is a red flag for me. You could tell that the food was reheated as my dish wasnt hot enough to cook the egg fully.3.The food also had next to no flavour. I had to add a lot of salt and pepper when my food arrived so I was able to distinguish all the flavours in the dish. The only good thing about my dish was the slight amount of soy sauce covering the bottom of the bowl.Please take these notes into consideration. Im not hating on your business but instead saving you a constructive review from my experience here.
