Tokyo Japanese Steak and Sushi Bar in Tuscaloosa

Service was great. Food not so much. Crab Rangoon was excellent. The rest was very bland. Ordered fried rice. Not! Just steamed rice put on the grill. No vegetables or egg. Just bland rice.

One of my FAVORITE places to eat. Always great service. Delicious food. Large portions. Inexpensive. I love love love their create your own sushi option. Id eat here every day.

This is by far my most favorite place to get sushi. Tokyo deserves far more traffic. This place was the first place I ever had sushi and that was over 10 years ago! The ambience is amazing. The service is top tier and the sushi is absolutely divine. I think I go 3-4 times a month. I’m extremely pleased each time I visit this fine establishment. Also to some, this is equally important, I want to add that they have the cleanest restrooms out of any restaurant I’ve visited.

I eat here often because it’s so close to my house.

I have been here twice now. It was my first introduction to Japanese food. Its a very quiet place, not crowded, and has good food and service.

What a wonderful place, covid has definitely hurt them. They deserve so much more business. Great sushi, great prices and excellent service. My only wish was that I lived closer so we could eat here often.

Eaten here multiple times. Food never disappoints. We recently took our 4 year old granddaughter there and we had a couple of spills. Our server, Kayla was so helpful! We were able to salvage our experience and finish a fantastic meal. Special thanks to Kayla. See you again soon.

So this is a $30 dinner from Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse. No flavor on the 12 bites of steak, the chicken is rubbery and cold, the vegetables are burnt soggy. Fried rice is white with no flavor. The lo mein noodles look and taste like cold spaghetti. I called and complained. Was told that my order was inspected for quality before it left the restaurant. Never again will I waste my money on Tokyo’s garbage.

Love the staff at Tokyo Japanese Steak & Sushi bar. They’re well managed and always seem to be happy to be there. The food is delicious and they have quick service, even with take-out orders. Highly recommended for sushi lovers.

In my opinion the best hibachi restaurant in Tuscaloosa. Their shrimp sauce is to die for! They have delicious, but reasonably priced sushi. Their noodles and fried rice are the absolute best. One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Tuscaloosa.

Great server and pretty reasonable prices! The shrimp seemed a bit undercooked honestly... still not bad though! but the chicken, soup, noodles, and sushi were very delicious! I’m definitely coming back!

Good food, but portions not as large as other Japanese Hibachi restaurants.

Seriously dirty sticky eating area at hibachi grill, needs cleaning at minimum, based on other Hubaxhi places needs total update! Hope they do it soon or they will be totally out of business! I’ll stick with Hokkaido!!!! Best Hibachi and clean!!!

Best rice in town .always have so much fun there

I loved the food! If you havent had real sushi it might be hard to swallow after chewing. I will definitely eat again and get sushi again. If raw sea food is not your thing they do have cooked sushi. You only live once so make the most of it and try real/raw shushi at least once from here or anywhere.

Great food and a lot of fun. We took a party of 12 for a birthday celebration. The service was great and the cook was funny.

The food is absolutely amazing!! Our waitress was probably the friendliest, most efficient, predictive waitress Ive ever encountered. We didnt have to wait on a thing! I highly recommend eating here!!

Their food is awesome! If anything, I would say please train the waiters and waitresses better. Ive ordered appetizers twice that never came.

The cooks are always so entertaining. I love that they keep my kids interacting with them to make it even more special. The food is always so tasty and cooked to perfection. We have been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. We celebrate everyones birthday here and with a family of 10 thats alot of time spent here with drums and ice cream.. (Thats their birthday celebration if you didnt know.)

Good food, but experienced some stomach distress after eating. Staff was friendly, but had to ask for water and refills. I would choose Hokkaido as better alternative. But ok if you are south of town.

Sorry tokyo but yall have horrible services for the last three times yall have got the order wrong and every time some of the food has been raw and undone

The food is always top notch but the grill show is now mostly just cooking and less talent and showmanship.

Went with a friend today and their sushi was horrible. We couldnt even eat it. Tasted like it stayed out all day.. And the ginger was hot an rubbery. Never have i turned down food... My friend ordered a strawberry colada and tasted like it had no alcohol whatsoever.. On the other hand the spring rolls were delicious.

Kind of pricey but plenty of food for your money. Great taste and friendly service.

I love the sushi, best in Tuscaloosa in my opinion. I usually get the Spicy Lovers Trio. It is has lots of natural flavor and is always fresh. They have great shrimp sauce and spicy mayo.

By far, the BEST Japanese restaurant in town. The shrimp sauce is to die for. Actually...EVERYTHING is to die for! It is truly a local gem. Try it...you wont be disappointed!
