Toby Carvery Worthing in Lancing

My only criticism would be the brandy, on one occasion, amongst a few visits, a courvoisier was ordered but the smell and the taste was definitely not that from a courvoisier, nor that of the other option which was three barrels (these were the only two options), otherwise the staff and the service are pinnacle for my high rating and each visit has been quite delightfull and delicious.*Edit* another visit today 16/11/22 and another courvoisier was served which also had a strange taste and smell. The drink was replaced with another, albeit less familiar, three barrels brandy.

This was an absolute delight. We had two meats rather than the three allowed, roast pork and gammon. The vegetables all tasted like they should, nothing watery or overcooked. The Yorkshire puddings were a tad on the large side but after pouring them in gravy, they soon got devoured. I had eyes bigger than my belly when I ordered the ice cream for afters, because the main meal was easily enough. The refillable Pepsi was also just as good as you get in pubs.

Got there sat down I could see 2 staff standing around talking for at least 20 mins took our waiter at least 15 mins to no we was there in the end we just got up went got food!! food was ok roasted were horrible and hard I even got our waited to try one she even agreed they were horrible and dry well least she got a tip at the end of the night roast potato !! Use to go Toby quite a bit but not anymore

We had a friends reunion today. Sadly one of our party feel ill.The staff particularly Tony were absolutely fantastic and extremely professional in their support and care.This aside, the food was excellent and the staff were welcoming and fun.I would definitely recommend a visit.

Sunday dinner was dry and the restaurant was chaos. It was a busy time to visit and the restaurant was under staffed and messy which can be excused, but the food was horrid! Potatos and stuffing were hard, the rest bland and overcooked veg. The dishes were not being replaced/ refilled to cope with demand and the presentation was a disaster with food mixing and falling everywhere.They need to be more organised to cope with the amount of people they are seating.

OK I love it in here its really nice and the best day to go is a Wednesday when they do their midweek covery you can get a meal for under 10 pounds and there is quite a lot. Just remember to book a table as it gets really busy. Only downside is theres only lamb on a Sunday and the food can sometimes be a bit dry

We have always had great experiences in this Toby Carvery. The staff are friendly, efficient and always have a positive attitude. The food is great and the prices are fairly reasonable. Very family friendly!

A really nice relaxed place with good food and at a sensible cost. Staff were friendly enough and helpful.Ill be certain to be visiting another Toby carvery in the near future.

The food was only warm, the York puds were rock hard and beef very fatty. 3 salt dispensers were blocked!The service at the table was very good and staff were pleasant

great service, table was ready early and food was cooked to perfection! Price was great too.Only thing i was not happy about was the state of the bathrooms!1 toilet in the gents had no loo roll the next had poop all over the seat and wall behind and the last had no lock on the door!Me and my sister have a bowl condition and require a somewhere to use the bathroom this was not good enough.

Food my two children had was ok, I gave up queuing and didnt eat.The queue was ridiculous and very slow moving. Yes, it was half term and you were very busy - you should have planned for that.One frequent user now put off Im afraid.

The horseradish had run out which is not great as it should be regularly checked but happens, when we told our waitress she promptly re filled it and brought some to our table rather than expect us to go up again to get some

From the welcome smile to the friendly chat by the carvery chef, and quality and variety of food, this was an enjoyable meal. Worth travelling to have the meal, when there are other carveries closer to home.

The food was very tasty It was one of the best Tobys Ive been to the gammon was outstanding. Despite the payment app not working it was a brilliant experience 😁

Can’t go wrong with an all you can eat Toby Breakfast!You can get bottomless Tea/Coffee/Soft drinks and is even better now that they have brought back the breakfast gravy!

The meal was really 1st class, lots of meats to have and a wide selection of veg. Our server was lovely and chatty. Downside was I had booked for 2pm but was kept waiting for 35minutes.

Staff a bit superior, I had my first English breakfast without beans... no beans at all.. no eggs available, no bacon available... chief asking us how many eggs do we want.. it should be available as is 9am ... coffee, good cold drinks, clean restaurant... and they had pancakes.

Meat carver was a delight everyone was right rude to him. I gave him a big ole smile and he loaded me with his meat. Good time had by all

I will never go there on a Sunday again. Service was dreadful, vegetables were relatively sparse and the roast potatoes indescribable. Toby gravy is becoming famous for the volume of lumps in it and Sunday prices were a joke

Maybe try to change the spoons for dishing up the veg as always too hot and can burn the customers hands at times.

We were greeted almost immediately sat in a nice place in the restaurant as I have mine to your mum with me at very important waitress was amazing the food was lovely I must admit bear in mind it was one you 1 there wasnt much Turkey on the joint or gammon but saying that I have the pork and it was absolutely amazing

Our meal at the Toby Carvery Brighton Road was absolutely awful the roast potatoes were over cooked the cauliflower was under cooked Yorkshire pudding was like crisps and the whole dinner was cold apart from the gravy , we also both had a latte which was also look warm when we first went up to the counter this was at 5.30 there wasn’t much left anyway it looked like left overs , if we had’nt of pre booked we would have come home very very disappointed …… we went there to book a table for the 8 th October for14 people I hope it will be better than Fridays meal . I booked the table for the 8th before we had that dreadful meal I really hope it will be better on Saturday.

It wasnt as great as I expected, ice machine was broken, no crackling, no Yorkshire puddings and the potatoes were soggy.. The tables didnt seem werent that clean either. But it was okay all in all.

Thoroughly enjoyed a carvery. Nice hot plates perfectly cooked food and lovely helpful and kind staff. Natalie our waitress was so lovely and brilliant at her job.

We have been visiting for years and never had a bad experience, but it seems to have really gone downhill in the last couple of months! The staff seem depressed and the place looks like it needs a thorough deep clean! Will not be going back - Such a shame!!

Lovely staff and food or what there was of it! No Sprouts, Parsnips or Yorkshire pudding available with a Sunday Roast! Toby Carvery Home of the Roast they say. I think not..

The waitress was lovely and really accommodating. The beef, yorkshire pudding & roast potatoes were lovely. However the veg was very disappointing. Peas and cabbage were dried out and the cauliflower cheese was devoid of cheese sauce.

Popped in for lunch I had the turkey and gammon sandwich and my partner had the prawn cocktail sandwich both were very tasty 😋 well presented , well made just as you could hope for

Upon arrival, where a number of young members of staff were all just milling around the check-in desk chatting, we were told that, as we had not previously booked, there were no tables for approx 1.5 hours. However, as our meal progressed and we went up to the carvery and to the loo, the tables remained empty in the restaurant side of the building so we could have actually sat there.Instead, we were told we could sit in the pub part of the building, which we did.I visit this restaurant regularly with my autistic daughter (15as she loves roast dinners but it was not an environment I would willingly put her in again.To explain, there were 3 groups of tradesmen all sat with pints talking very loudly and drinking. Obviously, I appreciate that everyone needs to wind down at the end of the week but the swearing that was coming from their tables was actually very distressing. There was another family sat nearby with young girls (4 & 7and another family came in half way through our meal with 2 boys (9 & 11).The thing that irked me the most is that the women working behind the bar obviously knew this one particular group of men as she was chatting and larking about with them but she did not once ask them to curb their language. Nor did she ask the oldest guy in the group to stop vaping at the table.I am not sure if you know anything about autism but this was not a suitable environment for my child and we ended up taking away most of our food in a takeaway box as she couldnt cope with the loudness/ swearing/ vaping etc

The service was absolutely outstanding and Charlotte was so happy and helpful. She was very on top of her whole service area. Made our trip very enjoyable. Very busy evening also the man on carvery was very helpful and myself and children really enjoyed our meals

I had a booked table at 8:10pm, arrived at the restaurant and the staff at the front told me that they stopped serving food after 8pm and that I can go to the one in Goring. Also that my booking is with Goring which is absolutely a lie. Very disappointed of this unreliable and inaccurate service.

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Had a Saturday lunchtime carvery which was lovely, meat perfectly cooked and piled high! Will definitely visit again when In the area.

Albeit arrived before our allotted time we were attended too straight away and shown a table within 5 mins .Ordered 2 carverys and a kids meal ...we were given a voucher for kids eat for a £1 ...the voucher was scanned but we were charged extra for one of the carverys and charged extra on the kids albeit it included dessert . Very misleading ....!

Always have a pleasent experience the staff are friendly and happy to help and accommodate. The food is lovely and even the kids clean there plates.

Went here for my brothers birthday with a party of 13. The food was great and our waitress Lauren couldnt have done more to help. Friendly helpful and attentive, a real credit to the company.

Great value for money. Everyone enjoyed their food and our waitress was very attentive especially as it was an extremely hot day/evening.The beef was quite tough but it was quickly changed for another meat….so all good.

you cannot really improve , the food was delicious, the waitress who served us was friendly and efficient, despite having to do 2 peoples work due to to absence. And the servery staff despite being under pressure with the amount of people present, and the stifling heat, were jovial despite it. We cant fault any aspect of our visit, Thank You

I booked for lunch with my son, using a "£10 off" coupon you sent me by email for my birthday which was last month. We had 3 courses each from the set lunch menu. I intended to use the coupon and was surprised when the waitress told me I couldnt use it against the set menu. Obviously I should have looked at the small print. I did mention at reception that I had the coupon and was told to show it to the waitress when paying, which I did. I dont think anyone said I couldnt use the set menu with the coupon - certainly dont remember it. The set menu was on the table when we got there so I just thought that was the only menu at lunchtime. In the end the waitress used the main menu and allowed the £10 off against that, but I would have paid less if wed used the set menu price with £10 off that. I was rather unhappy about this as the coupon didnt save me much (for my birthday celebration).

Worst toby carvery I have ever had. Been here a few times and it was OK. However, today was awful defo the worst one I have ever had there. Yorkshire were flat and greasy, peas were hard, carrots had clearly been under the lights for ages. Roast potatoes soft. Pork and turkey dry and beef chewy all in all not great.

We went there as party of 5 including 3 children.I didnt feel like having a roast so I ordered chicken wings which was okay and a tomato soup which was supposed to come with a ciabatta but was served with ice cold plain white bread.The beef roast was okay according to my friend.

Weve noticed that this particular Toby has gone downhill since it re-opened. However, yesterday it was terrible. All the meats were overcooked. I had the turkey and it was really dry all the way through. I did comment to the chap who was carving it how dry it was but he ignored me. The potatoes were not up to standard and the rest of the vegetables looked very unappetising. The only decent thing about our experience, was the savoy cabbage and the cauliflour which were very good. We were very disappointed and told the young lady who served us. She had a word with the manager and he waived the charge for which we were very thankful. We wont be coming to you again, well try the Toby at George V Avenue instead.

I think the carvery is value for money and the staff especially the waiting staff work really hard.... the only complaint really is that when we arrived the member of staff on the greeting desk was bent over looking at the diary I assumed, we stood waiting when he stood up and walked away.... now I know they are incredibly busy and work hard but an acknowledgement and hello Ill be with you in a moment would have been polite... wouldnt it? I had booked to take my elderly inlaws there and so I was not impressed with that as they are old school and used to being treated respectfully......other than that it was a lovely visit... little things like that are important to me...

I have been to a few different carvery and somehow they seem to fall short either in the staff the food or just everything. That Id not so here the staff are AMAZING. Polite and friendly the place in clean and tidy and the food well cooked to perfection hot and staff constantly checking if refills needed. For the choice we had in meats and veg the size of Yorkshire pudding (fills half the plateis value for money. Guys well done all the way from greeter to chefs we will see you again soon.

Breakfast was okish, have had better on previous visits.Bacon was way too fatty and eggs were swimming in oil.Expect that the rest of the meal was nice and good value for money.

The best EVER. This is a bodybuilders dream. You have a 24h gym behind the block. And after the workout, ready prepared, always fresh and amazingly tasting, big plate of healthy, proteinic lunch at the Toby Carvery. 💪Just amazing! Cant ask for more.Staff is a hard working to feed everyone. Id suggest you to do not forget the tip.

Not up to the standard of other Toby carverys Ive been to recently. I was booked in for 20.20 and I dont know if it was the lateness of the day but the carrots and cauliflower cheese were cold, the mashed potatoes were nearly gone and when I asked if there was any more the carver checked and there wasnt any. Nice lady that served me but sadly the food not what youd expect regardless of the time of day.

Consistent toby carvery experience. For the price you pay its a very good carvery and a lot better than many higher priced carveries around. The meat is well cooked as are the vegtables that still had great texture. The staff here were lovely.

Came here on Friday around 1pm on lunch break. Shown to table fine by the manager - seemed lovely. We were a table of 2 and then sat for over 20 minutes waiting for someone to come over and take a drink order and send us up for carvery. We ordered our drinks and one of them wasn’t available - fair enough (chose something else). Went up for the carvery came back to table and still no drinks!! Ate half of our meals as they were like warm and some parts actually cold, this is odd as they hadn’t been open long. After 45 minutes of being here we called over our waiter and asked for the bill and which he bought over and we paid for the two meals, but we still hadn’t had our drinks and he didn’t even notice until we said to take them off bill as we haven’t had them. How ridiculous is that! We did also tell the waiter the food was cold/Luke warm and that the chefs need to be probing this to ensure it is hot enough to serve.He had the cheek to turn around and say that they were ‘under pressure’ even though there were plenty of staff and only around 8 tables!!!! I used my staff discount as I work for the same company but different brand and for him to say they were under pressure was a joke as all that was needed was for drink order to be taken and sent up for carvery and to bring drinks over. They were definitely not under pressure - if you want to be then come to where I work!I did get the waiters name - Adam.Also at the end he said very loudly ‘sorry for the experience’ in the most patronising way. Not very good customer service unfortunately.

Excellent service combined with excellent food. Had a Sunday lunch roast and it was tasty and hot and well worth the money and no washing up too. Much recommended and will definitely be back when in the area.
