Tobacco Road Sports Cafe & Brewery in Raleigh
Description
Privilege
Our daughter and son in law had their rehearsal dinner here. Amazing food and service! Highly recommend this place for an event or just for the food and drinks.
MoreGreat food but the service is what really stood out Antoine is AMAZING. Great start to our date night. Shrimp tacos are spot on and the lemon chicken was my hubbys favorite.
MoreGreat food. Nice crowd for a Saturday of sports entertainment. Was in the area for a convention and fell on this spot. Great grilled chicken sandwich.
More100% the worst burger Ive had in a long time. Food was just overall BAD, service horrible had to ask for everything, not once did our server ask if there was anything they could bring us, from condiments to refills and even the bill
MoreAt Tobacco Road awaiting to be seated. My husband is using a scooter for mobility. They just tried to seat us in a corner with no view of a TV. We refused the table until we can have one with a view of the game. We were here to watch the State game. Why go to a sports bar if you cant see the sports. If you have mobility issues, BEWARE!
MoreStaff attention was superlative! Great food and drinks, and the outdoor seating offered an unbeatable venue.
MoreGreat food, great atmosphere, great service and it’s just a great place to hangout and watch sports, definitely see myself coming back in the future
MoreI went to the restaurant for a team meeting Saturday. I had no plans to eat anything, I attended to learn & fellowship. Our server Aishah A. was absolutely the best Ive had since Covid19! She was so pleasant & very observant. She connected with our group & she made a special drink for us "Aishah Tea" delicious! I had the BEST wings cooked to perfection. She made the entire experience wonderful 2 thumbs up 👍 👍. Ill be returning again soon asking for Aishah as my server!!
MoreSuch a treat! Took a friend for lunch before they started medical treatment today. The food was amazing, everything is incredibly clean, and Kai, our server, went above and beyond to make the moment special. It will be our go-to spot from today on. Thank you!!!
MoreSince our wedding was so formal, we wanted something low key and very “Durham” for the rehearsal. We had always enjoyed Tobacco Road for its food, service, and proximity to Durham Bulls Stadium. Lisa was our contact person and she took care of us from beginning to end. It turned out she even served us at the rehearsal dinner. Everything at rehearsal went smoothly. The food was so good we almost ran out. The event space was perfect for our rehearsal and it allowed our guests to enjoy the baseball game taking place outside. Thank you so much Lisa and Tobacco Road for helping us kick off our wedding weekend on the right note. You set the tone for the weekend with fabulous food and splendid service. Our families still ask about those deviled eggs. 🏳️🌈👨🏻🤝👨🏼💕
MoreIf you love sports and you love being loud, this is the place for football. Make sure to get a reservation or be prepared to wait. Staff was extremely nice and tried to fit us in. We waited and were able to watch almost a whole game but gave up waiting on table. Food looked good. We will be back here next time were are in town.
MoreA group of us ate there. The beverages were ice cold. The food was great as was the service. Would I go again? ABSOLUTELY!!!
MoreGood time did is just as good you can also catch a baseball game lol
Good food. Visited on an evening when the Durham Bulls were playing at home and the Four Tops and the Temptations were at DPAC. Large crowd but they still managed to handle it.
MoreHad a great experience, the food was very good and we got to watch batting practice at the DBAP!! Got pretzel bites and taquitos as appetizers, the drizzled drizzled southern chicken, Mac and cheese, a Bulls Burger and crab cakes as entrees. Definitely well worth the price, excellent service and a very friendly and attentive staff.
MoreLovely atmosphere. Really great sporting vibe with amazing surrounding view. Very pocket friendly menu. A must visit in Durham.
MoreGood food and outside seating during a Durham Bulls game is excellent!!!! I even caught a home run ball to go with the home run food!!!
MoreSuch a yummy Buffalo chicken sandwich, and not at all spicy!
Food was wondering. Loved the atmosphere. And our waitress was wondering. Would definitely return.
MoreGreat place to grab a meal before a DPAC show. Quality is good, and service has been consistently good. A bit loud..so stand close to your friend to hear the conversation.
MoreTobacco road has superb food and drink. Theres plenty of screens with just about any sport you can think of. The atmosphere and vibe has great energy. I would definitely come back!
MoreAte here for lunch and it was ok. I had a burger and fries and they were both good. I would describe the prices as a little steep, but the food was good. Not amazing, but good. The bathroom (menswas clean and the restaurant was clean. Not busy on a Thursday at lunchtime. Id go again, but theres definitely better values. That said, if youre into baseball, the restaurant overlooks the stadium and offers perfect views to the field. That part is pretty cool.
MoreWe gave this place a second chance because we went during a game last time and they were obviously busy. Unfortunately, even for lunch yesterday when they were pretty much empty the service and food are just lacking. We ordered some beers and apps. The apps came out a full 15 minutes before our beer. Our server rarely came to check on us. The food runner/busser spilled most of the cheese from our pretzel appetizer when delivering it. He cleaned the cheese of the basket, butt never replaced the almost empty bowl. We watched as another waiter dropped a knife on the ground and not a single employee who stepped over it for the next 30 minutes picked it up. On top of that the food is very bland. The beer was at least decent.
MoreNice enough atmosphere, but they got the order wrong on me both times I was there In the same weekend. Among other things we ordered, both times I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and emphasized no croutons. (No bread of any type for meWhile Im pretty sure both the wait staff got my order right, the kitchen brought out the order with croutons both times. My ribs were overcooked, overly charred. Also on my second visit, the chicken wings were slightly over cooked. Finally, the brussel sprouts were overly dry, perhaps overcooked as well.
MoreMenu seemed too big. Which makes sens why the pulled pork sandwich was very bland. It has no seasoning or sauce at all. Below average at best. The view was great to the stadium and beer was cold. Waiter was very attentive.
MoreMe and a couple of friends dined here on an early Saturday evening after an event we were hosting. There was a rush of people that came in after this so please keep this in mind if you decide to dine here during the weekend. This location is close to where we held our event, and it is conveniently located in downtown Durham. There was street parking available, and there is a parking deck adjacent to the restaurant, if you prefer to park there. We chose this location because we were especially looking for somewhere that had outdoor seating and somewhere with decent food and drinks. While we didnt watch any sports games while we were there, there are large TVs scattered throughout the restaurant so its the perfect spot to watch a game. The staff that were at the host stand greeted us when we came in and were very friendly. They laughed and joked with us as they led us to where we would be sitting. I ordered the crab cakes (remember to ask for these without the ham if you dont eat meat), which were pretty good. There was a piece of hair cooked into one of our crab cakes so we sent it back for them to remake. The staff were very apologetic about it and agreed to remove the item from our check. I also ordered the shrimp tacos, which I wasnt crazy about, but it was one of the few options I could choose from since Im a pescatarian. We had two servers, one of which was being trained. They were very kind and seemed to be enjoying having us as guests. The other server (trainerwas very rude and asked us several times only a few minutes apart if we wanted to order anything else, which we interpreted as them being ready for us to leave. I gave this place four (4stars because of the hair we found in our food and the unfriendly server we had.
MoreGood vibes. Great food. Sadly chips were stale. Veggies had that burnt taste. Everything else was great
MoreWas excited to try the food here but came away very hungry. Our waitress was not very attentive. We sat down at a dirty table without silverware. Drink order was messed up. Appetizer came out with our meal. Told her no sesame seeds on buns due to an allergy there were seeds on the buns. After trying to flag down our waitress and asking another server to get her for us, she never came, we got up and told the hostess we were unhappy with our service and ended up leaving. I’d like to add there wasn’t anybody in there and they weren’t busy. Waitress ignored us completely. Saw her when we ordered drinks and then she disappeared.
MoreFood was very good. The staff seemed a little short handed. Bartenders were extremely busy but no sense of urgency or smiles. In fact I don’t think I saw a server smile either. However, we did talk to the manager Alex. Super nice and made sure we had a great visit there. We will certainly be back. I hope they get some more help to take the pressure off the ones there.
MoreIve been here a handful of times and overall I enjoy the patio view and food, however I had a bad experience with the hostess today which sparked this review. So this review is toward the hostess and not the quality of food or the restaurant as a whole. My party of 2 arrived today and we were put on a 15 minute wait list, which is no problem (there were open tables but I figured maybe they werent sitting all of them). I should mention we came here instead of other places because we wanted to avoid a long wait. We monitored the wait list that is texted to you and noticed after 40 minutes we were still 14th in line.Once we decided to go check on our spot, we noticed people entering and being sat right away. I asked the hostess if there was a wait and she said no. I then asked why we were sitting on a wait list and she ignored the confrontation and grabbed to menus to seat us. I didnt want to make it a big deal but Im frustrated that we ended up waiting and we were forgot about. While I do enjoy this restaurant, Ill likely not return because of the frustration and inconvenience this caused us.
MoreUse their waitlist option to save on wait time (via phone you can get waitlisted, see their site). Fun to watch practice and grab a bite. The apps we had where pretzel bites and ribs. The ribs were very good and nice portions. Pretzel bites and beer cheese was also good. If sitting outside beware of flying baseballs. I left off a star since our fries were soggy with our burgers. Our wait staff was awesome too.
MoreIt took 20 minutes for our first round of beer, bbq sandwich had no flavor, fries came out like they were dried in the sun for a week.Besides the atmosphere being awesome, this place had nothing else to be impressed with.
MoreCool spot with a view of the Durham Bulls. Very busy however with the game and Hamilton going in at the same time. Hostess just kept pushing our wait time 45 minutes after we already waited 45 minutes. Ended up having a great server take care of us
MoreSat outside in the sun due to the wait but it wasnt that bad as long as you have sunglasses. Great outdoor view of the bulls stadium/field. Would be great to eat here while a game was live. Food and beer were good and didnt seem over priced.
MoreIve been here many times, but Ill never go back. Our group of 3 arrived on a Monday evening, and though the place was fairly empty were told it would be a 15 minute wait for a table due to staffing issues. No problem, this is par for the course right now. We asked if we could wait on the patio, and if a server could come out after the 15 minutes. Sure, no problem.30 minutes go by, and meanwhile two out of three occupied patio tables leave and are cleared. The hostess came out to sanitize the tables and we asked her if we could get some service since its been more than 15 minutes. She was VERY rude, and said, "Well you actually never put your name in." and disappeared inside. We waited another 10 minutes for her or anyone to come and give us menus, check on us or even take our drinks order and nothing. We left. Wont be going back. There are plenty of better options downtown.
MoreLove Tobacco Road!!! It is right next to the DPAP and they have tvs playing every sport imaginable. The food is excellent and the waitstaff were very accommodating.
MoreFirst issue, our salsa was fermented, brought it up to our server many times and she didn’t care at all. Server said “well it’s our cooks fist day and she tested it and said it was fine because she’s Mexican”Cocktails were atrociously mixed, I understand what they were going for as a bartender my self but whoever they have working the bar doesn’t know pours or ratios at all! I’ve been here a few times to support this place but will definitely never be coming back.
MoreGood is great, but if I order an appetizer I expect it to come before my entree not after. Server was pleasant and I love the atmosphere. There is seating overlooking the Durham bulls baseball stadium. Great place to catch the games without being in the crowds in the stands.
MoreWent there on Monday April 25 around 2 a delightful young lady named sammelia greeted us at the door and was our server. She made our experience very enjoyable. They just had a rush and it was 3 servers and the bartender. Those girls just got there butts handed to them but delivered food and drinks with a smile. Management its very hard to find good help I know I work in the same industry everything was great my fries were cold only bad thing but the service great will be back with more people thank you so much
MoreThe service and drinks were great! The food was okay, I ordered wings with a side of fries: the fries were a little too flimsy for my liking, the wings were okay. For my drink I had a Sangria, it was very tasty!
MoreIt was a surprise birthday dinner for me given by family members. My 1st time there. The food was Good, the service was AMAZING( Heather was our waitress), the drinks were Awesome, the location is Great. The area we were seated in was very nice, roomy and intimate, however, it was a bit too dark to see the menus. We all had to use our phone flashlights..I walk with a cane and had to walk up several steps to get to the entrance and to exit the restaurant. If there was a handicap or disabled entrance, it was not clearly accessible...
MoreOur waiter was new. It was the first thing he mentioned and he pre-apologized for not knowing everything on the menu. Regardless I went with his recommendation for the spicy chicken sandwich and it was simply amazing. We also had the pork belly tacos and the fried BLT. Everything was excellent. The service was good and the location even better. I would definitely eat here again next time Im in town.
MoreTobacco Road Sports cafe has the best Salmon dinner in Durham hands down my favorite. I will deffinatly be back for some pemento and cheese with fried tomatoes. The atmosphere is so amazing you feel like your in a movie its the best experience for any one who loves Baseball ! I cant wait to go when there is a game playing this Summer⚾❤📷 I would give them 10 stars if I could🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
MoreThis was a good American style restaurant. Its centered over the Durham Bulls stadium (cant get more American than that). Small menu for the afternoon lunch hours and one of the few places that are open for the lunch hours. Offered a variety of seating, to include outdoor seating as well. Food was good but wasnt blown away. Service was good, staff know the menu and had personal favorites (thats always a plus if the staff actually has personal experience of the food). Overall good experience from location, staff and food, would visit again.
MoreTRSC is a highly underrated establishment. Im kinda still drooling after tonights dining experience. The poor reviews do this restaurant no justice at all. The food is North Carolina sourced and made with love. This restaurant gave me the biggest welcome to the south I could have ever had.I was invited on a blind date and my date chose Tobacco Road. This was my first trip to Durham and previously I heard about the historical Tobacco site across the street. I had no idea this was a franchise. There was quite a wait to be seated and many patrons were dining. Remember: Good food is not fast. Fast Food is not good or food. Read that slowly. Tobacco really raises the bar for North Carolinian cuisine. I was extremely impressed by the food here. Taylor was our waitress and she was phenomenal. Taylor educated us and shared that they are a scratch kitchen and mostly everything made is from the state of North Carolina and local. We started off with Apps. Sloppy Joe Sliders were my dates idea. I ordered and I feasted my eyes on the Fried Green Tomatoes served with Pimento Cheese and Pickled Okra ! The Pickled Okra was a game changer !!!! Crispy. Pickled and tasty ! The fried green tomatoes were absolutely delicious and one of my favorite southern classics. I enjoyed the sloppy joe sliders despite the fact I dont like sloppy joes. The sauce was delicious. They were so moist. I ordered a whiskey sour and unfortunately it was very weak. My date made it right by dumping his shot of Jack into it.For an entree we shared the Shrimp & Grits which was the best Ive ever had ! Rich. Flavorful. The portions are large here and worth every dime. Easily shareable. The dish really reminded me of my Grandfathers recipe with stewed tomatoes. The sausage in the bowl was a game changer as well ! Absolutely mouth watering and delicious. I cant wait to visit again and share this local gem with my friends and family. Hats off to the chefs who cook with love and southern hospitality.
MoreThe food was awesome, the view of Bull Durham stadium was excellent as well! Unfortunately, on this evening we did not get the best service. My two companions had to go to the bar for drinks as the waitress didnt show up for 15 mins after we were sat. It didnt get much better from there. I always leave a good tip regardless, but I thought this should be known.
MoreTobacco Road Cafethe chicken, salad was awesome just the presentation alone.Pimento cheese dip and chips was absolutely awesomeThe bison burgers was absolutely awesomeThe wait staff Reanna and DanielPlus bartender Luke was awesome with great drinksGo sit back and enjoy
MoreGear setup and atmosphere but the food need refining. I ordered pork ribs but they were out so I went with beef ribs. The most fat and oil Id experienced. Although, the Cheddar Grits were really tasty!
MoreFood is locally sourced! Menu changes periodically so check the website to make sure they still have your "favorite."Wait staff very friendly. Sports bar with seating inside and out so can get fairly noisy when full especially if a local game is on.
MoreWheres the steak? I had just spent a few hours at the dpac which is right next door watching a musical and all I could think of was Im going to get myself a nice cut of steak and catch the end of the CAVS game as soon as possible. Well I got to watch the cavs game but sadly there were no steaks on the menu. It turned out OK because they had burgers. My burger was well cooked but could have been seasoned a little bit better. So the food was ok our server was great and answered any questions we had and kept out drinks refilled without bugging me. So lets review. Clean, loads of TVs with multiple sport playing, next to the Dpac, friendly staff, good burgers (although they could use some seasoning), and no steaks. This was my first time but it wont be my last.
