To Arxontikon / Το Αρχοντικόν - Greek restaurant in Larnaca, Cyprus
Never leave reviews but this place deserves no more than a 1 star.We arrived at lunch time and were sat outside at a table close to the bar, only 1 other table seated yet it took the waiters 10 minutes to take our drinks order - they just stood chatting at the bar. After ordering drinks we waited, but they then came back 5/10 minutes later to tell us they wouldnt be serving us any drinks without us ordering food. We had just been walking for a long time so wanted a drink before placing any food orders as we were hot and needed to cool off - the waiters were informed of this but still refused us a drink until we ordered food. I personally think this is ridiculous and the waiters were both very rude in advising this and had zero understanding when advised we would be ordering food but not straight away. After 15/20 minutes of waiting for a drink, to then be told it wouldnt be coming, we left and will never be returning. Very poor customer service.
Great value meze. €21.50 each. A main is around 18 so the meze is definitely the best value for your money and you get so much! Each dish was delicious and the food just kept coming! Lovely service by servers who made us feel very welcome. Would recommend.
This Restaurant has been a regular on our list over the years. The food is excellent. Staff are friendly and very Professional. This is a great spot and well worth a visit
Very good Stifado. Good service as well!
The restaurant is located right in the tourist centre. Theres excellent staff, very polite and friendly, and delicious food, even though slightly more expensive than regular. We went there twice and really enjoyed both meals :)
Beautiful restaurant on Finikoudes street. Personnel was very kind, smiling and fast. We had meatballs with french fries and squids with french fries, too: they were amazing. Also the wine was really good.Ratio quality/price is perfect!
Lovely traditional food got my order wrong but they were happy to rectify..just one of those miss communication on both parts.. maybe a language barrier, would definitely go again.. good service
Rustic lunch in a 173 year old hybrid Cypriot-Ottoman mansion that once belonged to the wealthy Pierides family dynasty. Delicious food and eye-candy interior. They set the benchmark for heritage preservation whilst utilising it for business - in this case a delightful Cypriot and Greek fusion restaurant. The food is fresh, delivered quickly, with adaptations to your meal as you request it. The prices are very fair and the location is brilliant, on the waterfront of Finikoudes in Larnaca. I highly recommend it, and it is perfect for bringing tourist friends to show off our cuisine, culture and architecture.
How did you get the 4.4 rating please?Food for passing tourists, run away !Bread old and stale !Halloumi cheese hard like plastic !Salads teastlessSquid fried with 2 L of oil and octopus like a rubberBut the problem is the bill ! very salty for this quality of food ! 60 euros for two people ?!?!!!!!!!To finish the waiter take money and no word ! 😵The worst restaurant in Cyprus !
Cuisine did not match at all:- octopus over grilled, tasted like rubber, burned- salad contained toooooo much cilantro- cilantro in pasta! Not as decoration!- potatoes salad with cilantroRestaurant pretend to be high level service, but wine was in the ice pot and not served to the glasses
What we had: Chicken Souvlaki with roasted potatoes / fried squid. Very satisfying portions for the price which was a bit higher than expected. Tastewise I would say that the chicken was really nice although the potatoes had a honey-like taste which was unfamiliar to me. The fried squid with French fries was received very well. A nice lunch experience overall. Thank you for having us.
Extremely disappointing experience. We had big expectations seeing the good reviews of this restaurant.-Service was a big 0- the Meat meze absolutly noth worth to try , nothing special and every meat piece was dry- the salad taste like soap
My husband and I went to this restaurant two Sundays ago, we were greeted by a young man (insidewho said we could sit where we wanted. As we started to go to our favourite table, another waiter said they werent open till 12.30pm, only the outside part of the restaurant. I said, but on Google it said 12pm. His excuse was because they were cutting the palms??!! If that was the case, wouldnt it have been better to have sat inside!!?? Anyway, the atmosphere wasnt welcoming, so we went to PANOS STEAK HOUSE and we had a fab time, so they did us a big favour!! Wont be going back there again in a hurry! Some staff changes needed!!
Fantastic food and excellent service yesterday evening. Special thanks to Thanos and the other waiter who looked after us so well. The beef stifado was delicious. Great atmosphere. Will definitely return on my next visit.
Food without taste and they didnt have things from the menu. Boiled vegetables and wild rice were a huge failure. Fish was charred.
Not impressed. The food was far below expectations and it took long before we got our drinks and food (even though we were the only ones in the restaurant). Would not recommend.
Good place to visit. Prices are expensive. Food is very tasty. Staff is friendly and helpful as well.Regarding the menu, we ordered: Grilled octopus with potatoes salad 18,50 EUR, Grilled squid with rice 17,50 EUR, Grilled prawns with rice 18,50 EUR
Really good authentic food and amazing staff :prices very affordable
So nice place with good choices of seafood. Definitely recommend
Excellent food and even better staff! The place is very family friendly, with baby chairs, accessible entry for baby cot and considerate staff. Thank you for making our vacation very pleasant!
The starter was brought 5 mins after the main dish was served, so the main dish was cold by the time we had our starter. And then the starter sauce comes without any bread, so you have to buy it separately which is ridiculous. The food itself is okay and the waiter was nice.
Probably the best option to dine in Larnaca’s beachfront. Stylish place, historic building and traditional Cypriot cuisine. Very much recommended. Service could be a bit more attentive though
We ordered greek salad which was ok and beef stew with "rice". The rice wasnt rice actually and there wasnt much beef in the dish.We also ordered tziki and pita bread, the pita tasted old and not fresh, dry! And the tziki tasted like ouzo which was awfulExpansive and not recommended!!!Service was ok
We chose this spot for our post civil marriage ceremony brunch and we were thrilled with the menu. The seafood pasta was excellent as well as the grilled beef liver and grilled squid. In cleanliness and speed of service the place is a ten. The staff are extremely nice and courteous. They really made our big day a little more perfect.
Absolutely amazing place, super delicious and fresh food. Local tastes with reasonable prices.Meze for two people in fact is for four ❤️
Ive ordered pork kebab. But they bring to me lamb kebab which was more expensive. I tried to convince that its not right but it was ignored. The staff doesnt pay much of patience to see weather their customers needs some help or just to make sure that theyre fine. The food was alright but the meat of pork was quite dry and stiff. I gave a piece of pork to a cat ( actually there are plenty of themand even the cat was struggling to manage with that piece.Be aware...
Extremely disappointing experience. We had big expectations seeing the good reviews of this restaurant. Unfortunately for the meat mezze they do not offer any alternatives for Pork, so basically if you are Muslim you are not welcome. Very disappointing for multicultural Cyprus.
During our stay in Larnaka, Cyrpus - we manage to dine in to this restaurant(lunch time). Love the jumbo pork steak with rice combinations with different spices, and we order squid with potatoes and octopus. The waiters are well attentive to needs of the customers, the price is fare so i do recommend it.
Great food in a lovely mansion setting. Really enjoyed.
We tried the lobster. Not at all lobster. More like pasta with seafood. The service was nice, good wine. Not tasty food.
Great moment and excellent food. The personal was great, very kind and quick
Really incredible seafood. We originally came for the fish meze which was far too much for two people so we opted for to mains. The grilled octopus and prawn saganaki where 2 die for.The staff was nice. Drink options where 👌. The atmosphere was great music choices made it super authentic didn’t expect it very positively surprise. The prices for everything 👌. 💯 worth it will be coming back soon.
I had this place on the radar for a few days and finally stopped in for a classic fish n chips and a nice wine. The food was excellent and exactly what I was looking for but the service and the little touches was far beyond expectations. Complimentary dessert, fast WiFi and some lovely conversations with the staff really made my night. Cyprus is new for me but these folks made me feel at home.
I ordered the octopus macaroni and it was not what I expected - the octopus was way too chewy (overcooked perhapsand the dish was quite salty. Basically a macaroni dish with too many capers and very little octopus.Edit. On a positive note - the waiters were so accommodating and offered me another dish so I have adjusted my rating as the service was very good.Second edit: the free dessert was small but delicious 😋
Really nice place, we had the fish mezze which was really good, only bad thing was that most of the food was fried, which can be a bit much. The last fish served was simply Amazing!
One of the quality restaurants in Finikoudes beach. We tried "meze" and it was delicious and abundant. The staff was friendly and the service was very quick.
Food was lovely plenty of it. A few pieces of my squid were a little over cooked partly due to the variety of sizes but most pieces were perfect. The prawns were well cooked and flavouredAll in all a good meal. There were times when waiting staff were hanging around and trying to get their attention, to order extras, was a little difficult. Catching the eye of staff in most Cypriot restaurants is hard as very few make eye contact.
I’m obsessed with this place. It’s right on the beach and has great interior design. I got the salt crusted oven baked sea bream and some sort of gingerbread dessert. So delicious!
Stayed locally for 8 nights. Tried numerous restaurants in the vicinity each night. THE FOOD HERE WAS THE BEST. Couldnt dine inside due to social distancing but it looked amazing. Only downside was the waitress that initially sat us. She wasnt negative in any way, but her coldness was noticeable. The other two gentlemen that we interacted with (1 took our order, the other brought the foodwere very warming. The plan is to dine here when we visit again.
2.5!!!Food itself was nice, cant complain, chicken very dry, other than that food was good. We have ordered meze and we have received very big portions, easily third person would be filled up.However waiting for waiter to take order from us or waiting to pay was very painful! It took so long, I think staff forgot about us at all (I am not joking)... If you are hungry and happy to wait to there, if not then go somewhere else...
Great Meze that offers something a little different to your typical traditional tavern.I came here to eat lunch with my wife and ordered two Mezes (the minimum usually). For those who dont know, a Meze in Cyprus means a set menu in which lots of (supposedlylittle plates of food are brought to the table and can be shared. This set menu is pretty standard across most traditional Cypriot taverns (with some minor variationsand usually includes a lot of food (a two person Meze can usually easily feed four people).Where this restaurant has an edge is that:* the Meze includes many traditional dishes that arent offered as part of a Meze at other taverns* the food is of a higher quality than some (not allMeze restaurants* it adds some more traditionally Greek dishes (as opposed to purely Cypriot dishesto the mix as wellThe above two points mean that the amount of food is slightly less (but could still feed at least three people), but I think its well worth it, as most of the times a lot of food goes to waste in other restaurants. The Meze included:* Tzanziki* Tahini* Beetroot salad* Potato salad* Cypriot salad* Grilled Halloumi* Grilled Cyprus sausage* Grilled oyster mushrooms +* Quail eggs +* Cheese balls +* Grilled smoked Pancetta* Pork souvlaki* Chicken souvlakia* Pork Mpifteki +* Pork neck fillets* Spetsofai +* Lamb tsigariasto +* Papoutsakia +* Beef stifado +The dishes that have a "+" next to them are dishes that are not really standard in Mezes from other restaurants and, in my opinion, are delicious. In the end we ate as much as we could for lunch and brought the rest home and had enough for dinner for three people! (Like I said, the quantity is less than some other places, but still way more than enough).Ive added some photos of most of the dishes (though not all, because, as Ive said, we couldnt eat everything, so we asked them to pack the rest up before it came).
It was my very first experience with the Cypriot mezze (fixed number of little dishes they bring for a fixed price per personand it was spectacular and delicious! We had the fish mezze and by the end of the night, we were fed at a whole other level; hoping that there won’t be anymore dishes coming our way :-This unique culinary experience took place in a beautiful setting, as the restaurant is an old traditional house that’s been renovated with modern and elegant touches. The service is very polite and attentive. My take on this restaurant: you have to, you have to, you have to go for the fish mezze!P.S not all plates are included in the pics! ;-some were forgotten as we were devouring the mezze.
The food was delicious, the recommended wine too and the service was amazing !We ordered a lamb kebab with fries and wild rise and Bifteki with Cyprus potatoes, both were super super good (check the photos😋!!
This place was recommended to us and for very good reason. The food was local Cypriot food at a very high standard and at a great price. The staff were all very nice and helpful too. Definitely recommend to others.
Excellent. Cant wait to go back there. We where a group of 10,and ordered meze. Its was fantastic, lots of food! Waiters where great, very attentive. Ambiance was fab, the old Greek music in the background really tied everything together! Great restaurant and its a Must if you are in larnaca!
Excellent food, and a great location. The architecture is absolutely superb.Fast and friendly service. Our waiter (Alexwas very kind and thoughtful, helped us choose our food and offered us information about it.Highly recommended!
Delicious food. Very authentic experience in a modern trendy setting. The price was also very reasonable and service was great. Highly recommend!
Beautiful place right near the beach.Delicious authentic food. Many options for vegetarians and vegans.Fair prices.Friendly service, but we got the starters after the main dishes :/
Friendly service. Food was good. We ordered home made pasta and Boiled lamb. The lamb smells were too strong, but its well cooked.
Amazing place, Great food and excellent service. Try Meze with a lot of Cypriot food at 18,5€ and a big variety of Greek and Cypriot wines. It is a nice way to expropriate the Cypriot traditional tastes.
