Contemporary bar and dining room in a former tithe barn, serving pub classics and gourmet burgers.
1st time in Garstang and 1st pub we visited. Lovely pub, landlady Sue is so friendly and helpful. Food was lovely and a good price. The pub is an old barn, with lots of original features. The atmosphere is chilled and homely. Definitely be back.
Absolutely fantastic. Good food lovely pub nice friendly staff
Lovely Olde Worlde pub by Lancaster canal basin - welcoming staff, good beer and classic tasty pub grub (and dog friendly!)
A beautiful area ..to sit and relax ..dog friendly, even water and treats provided for them .Stunning .
Beautiful 1700th century inn .Beer gardens overlooking the pretty canal .Excellent service great Ales and food highly recommended.
Lovely old building situated by the canal.Ordered a starter, the roast dinner (pork and chickenand a pie chips peas and gravy. Unfortunately the starter came with the mains and the pork on the roast dinner was a slice of pork belly and the fat was very snotty not crispy in the slightest and the pie was advertised with garden peas but came with leeks and cabbage. Also wear something warm, its a wee chilly inside there the winter!Overall a little disappointing.
I met the landlady sue what an amazing lady she always puts the customers first and a beautiful pub with great food shes transformed the barn into a fantastic atmosphere
Found the place by accident, out for a drive and saw the sign from A6.Excellent relaxing atmosphere with the renovation to the barn making for a peaceful place ( at least in the afternoon when we arrived.)We both had the beer battered fish finger baguette which was ample, tasty and well presented. The staff were friendly and approachable. Would recommend.
Food massively improved by lthe last time we visited very busy good atmosphere
Disappointingly below average.... barn was beautifully decorated and has a nice location on the canal. But it was cold inside and the food was overcooked and bland.
Lovely welcome for both ourselves and our dog. . Beautifully preserved surroundings x
Lovely food. Amazing hot chocolate drink.
Amazing place, been coming here since I was a kid. Amazing food, beautiful building in a lovely location.
Havent been in for over 6 months. The pub has changed ownership. All the car parking time cameras have gone at last!!! Down to the meal, only fish finger sandwiches with a portion of chips. What a simple tasty meal. The tartare sauce homemade was excellent. Would definitely recommend the food and service.
We were there for the food as to be fair the bar is fairly basic for real ale which is a shame as it is absolutely perfect for great views and a good pint. However the food we had was lovely and hot in fact Ive never had garlic bread so hot before. Chicken pieces were very good with light crispy batter and sausage and mash with a Yorkshire pudding, pure genius. Very quiet and yet a beautiful patio overlooking a canal. We really enjoyed it .
Really loved this oldy worldy traditional pub. The inside is gorgeous but we sat outside with our beers (Madriand a lovely view of the canal. The ladies behind the bar were efficient and friendly. Would definitely go back.
Quaint and unique pub, low ceilings with rustic charm. Friendly staff, dog friendly and plenty of seating outside if the weather allows.
Great food in a very characterful restaurant. Dog friendly, well worth several more visits in the future!!!!
Absolute class - landlady was a total darlin, looked after us as soon as we walked through the door. Even sorted food for us when the kitchen was about to close. Lovely pub, lovely people, great food. Highly recommend.
The place is great. Some of the outside areas need a bit of a paint but with Covid etc thats perfectly acceptable. Everywhere is very clean and the staff are wonderful. Hard working and delivering good old fashioned customer service at its best! I would highly recommend staying here.
Pulled in cold and wet on the canal. We met Jordan who was amazing and then had a top quality steak baguette each!Fantastic pub, local history and great people! Would definitely recommend and cant wait to return!
We held our wedding reception meal at the Owd Tithe Barn and we cannot praise Sue and her staff enough. The food was exceptional and the effort put in by Sue to make our day special was second to none. Thank you so much to Sue and her staff we had a fantastic day
Great time here . Well looked after by sue an kath thankyou. Great food drink and entertainment.great setting by the canal. Thankyou for a great w end in garstang. John the joiner and pam x
I visited on 29 August 2022, the late August bank holiday. The food was really nice and tasty. The lasagne had lots of mince beef in it, and the garlic bread contained many different herbs. Everything had clearly been made from scratch. The meal was reasonably priced at 11.50 (inclusive of the garlic bread). The pub was spacious with lots of room to eat at the table. The toilets were nice and clean. The only negative thing was the wait. We waited 70 minutes for the meal. It was a bank holiday lunchtime and it was fairly busy so I understand this to some degree. I am aware there are staff shortages in the industry. However, I thought there could have been better communication about the wait. We were initially when ordering that the wait would be 40 minutes. No one came to let us know it would be a little longer than this, or offered us a free drink. That said, it is a perfectly pleasurable pub to be in to sit out the wait.Well worth a visit providing you aren’t in a rush.
Rang up and spoke to sue the gaffer, and asked if we could stop with a motorhome, she couldnt have been more accommodating. We arrived at the pub which is amazing seemingly built in the 1700s outstanding,Outstanding Just like the food, I had southern fried chicken burger 🍔 and fries, and my better half had lasagna and garlic bread 🍞Both meals were lovely
Disappointing, this restaurant has so much potential, but we were let down by food. The food described on the menu was different to what we actually received. The spicy burger was not spicy in anyway and the masala chips did not have any spice on so were basically fries. The chicken schnitzel with garlic butter, crispy onions, parmesan, kos lettuce with fries, was actually battered chicken with no parmesan, no kos lettuce, no garlic butter, no fries, large chunky chips and no crispy onions. The staff were friendly, but food with no love. Sorry
Liked it, very hospitable friendly staff, went above and beyond to accommodate us but it was quite pricey. A beautiful building in a lovely setting.
Marvellous for a canal side authentic pub. Great lunch including Cambodian Street Food Curry. Well worth a visit!
Fabulous location on the canal with great views, delicious food and an excellent selection of beers and wines. Its a charming and characterful building dating back to the middle ages. Well worth a visit.
Lovely old pub on the canalside. Very friendly landlady. Timothy Taylor Landlord beer on tap. The food looked good although we didnt partake.
Didnt start well - cutlery on table was all dirty. Meal was average - burger was really well done with little taste. I was surprised at the size of the hunter chicken - taking away the cheese and bacon the chicken could only have been 2-3 ozs - very small. Tasted nice but did not think it justified the price. Asked for J2O at the bar but they do not sell it so they gave me an orange replacement which was fizzy which I do not like. Lucky white heather I suppose
After having a lovely drink and meal some months ago I cant tell you how disappointed I was this last visit, myself and my hubby ordered steak, one medium to well and one medium rare, mmm last time I checked medium to well meant it didnt bleed all over the plate, which it did and the medium rare was basically raw on complaining the chef was quite rude until the manager told him to go in the kitchen. Luckily we got our money back - it was really awful
The outdoor seating is positioned perfectly to provide great views over the canal. Indoors is absolutely stunning and pays homage to the buildings origins. Finally, the food... Wow! Incredible, couldnt fault the food. It was well presented and tasted amazing! The provided doggy treats were a hit with ours eating his body weight in them. Overall, 10/10 and definitely on my list of places to visit again!
It was lovely to sit outside by the canal for drinks. The weather was perfect & it is a lovely venue. Itsbeen a long time since Ive been for food! The menu was not as extensive as I remember. What we had was pub food which was hot & good but I was disappointed & on reflection I think its because of the limited options which is on me because time has moved on & Im still pre-pandemic 🤷🏼♀️🙄😬
I have been 3 times, every time they have been on reduced menu for various reasons and veggie/vegan options have been next to none but this time we had to leave as there was not one vegetarian or vegan option on the menu. Such a shame as it is such a lovely location.
Beautiful old barn in an ideallic location by the Lancaster canal .. Friendly & efficient staff, delicious food, nicely presented and plentiful. Dog friendly, with no area out of bounds with nice doggie treats and strokes for our fur baby. We will return.
Called in on Saturday 28/5/22 for a drink. Sat outside in lovely beer garden overlooking the canal basin. Friendly staff. Only ordered drinks so can’t comment on the food but would definitely return.
Great fun experience. Really friendly staff, magnificent setting on the canal side watching the barges and Wildlife and the food was magnificent. I was last here about a year ago and it has improved beyond recognition. Will be back very soon.
Beautiful place. First time this year and must say I was not disappointed. The young girls waiting on were very nice. Order placed at the bar, and didnt have to wait long for our meals. I ordered the pulled barbecue beef with sweet potato fries, it was absolutely delicious,my mother ordered sausage and mash with onion gravy she said it was lovely, my sister ordered lasagna and again said it was delicious. We will be back very soon. X
Our first visit and only reopened late yesterday with new management. Cider and white wine spritzer great not got full menu yet but what we had was top rate. Will definitely be calling again. Add that to a top rate setting overlooking the marina, cant ask for more Well done on your first full day of opening you deserve the 5 stars 👍
Nice meal, great staff. Will visit again when next in area.
Enjoyed dinner. Building dates to 1710. The shrimp, mushrooms, lasagna and piri piri chicken were all very good. Helpful and cheerful staff.
Beautiful local pub set in a prime location by the canal. Pooch friendly with helpful staff and yummy food!
Very warm welcome with great service. Our dog especially made welcome. She wants to go back soon. Probably something to do with the doggy dinner she was served? Our food was really nice as well.
Beautiful old world pub tucked away near the canal in Garstang. Even in winter this place is magic. Absolutely delicious fayre at a good price. Plus a range of cask ales. Service is top notch too. Walking distance from the world market high street. Highly recommended.
A lively cosy pub, nice and warm out of the rain. Friendly staff, and good portions of tasty pub fayre.
The food was fab, with good portions and flavours. Very reasonably priced too! Good and friendly service, we would definitely come again. There is an Amazon locker around the back of the pub in the car park, which is ace for continuously cruising narrowboaters like ourselves :)
Limited menu when we called but very tasty food at a reasonable price. Dog-friendly and welcoming.
Really interesting decor for a pub / restaurant, right next to the marina. Food was served by a courteous waiter. Good quality and a reasonable selection of deserts at a fair price.
Since i wrote the initial review the mamagement has changed, so not had chance to try the food yet, but she seems nice enough. So i have changed my rating from 1 star to 3 star.Prevoius review-Just a shame the lovely setting doesnt match the awfull food and the rude staff.Long wait for food, no apologies off the staff or management.Ok for a couple of beers take outside in warmer weather and admire the scenery.
