is there any way on this earth that i can pay you enough money to deliver this to my house. i will pay the money to have it-- no car right now and very far away.if you do have a car, it is worth the trip and i would drive there every day.
MoreOrdered Ribs and 2 meats. Ribs were amazing, and the brisket was cooked to perfection. Their cornbread tasted great as well! Glad this place was recommended to me.
MoreWe ate at Tired Texan last night. We werent sure what to expect but we were delighted with what we were served. Each of us had some pulled pork. It was tender and not chopped up into tiny pieces. There were two sauce options - we enjoyed both, but liked the less-spicy version best because it had a more robust flavor. The cornbread was perfect - not sweet, like other places. The french fries were some of the best Ive ever had - very flavorful and crisp outside and fluffy inside. The baked Mac N Cheese was divine! My husband also had some brisket, which was a tiny bit dry but was flavorful and delicious. Were iced tea snobs - and the brewed iced tea was perfect in every way. I hear that the restaurant will close in May - this is a tragedy! I hope they will be able to re-open at some future date. This food is too good to vanish from the Omaha food landscape.
MorePulled pork sandwich was delicious. Service was very friendly. Sides are a little pricey but the main meal was reasonably priced.
MoreI love this place , and am saddened to kniw that may 8th is their last day. Im looking forward to the dino bones, but I highly suggest everyone get at least 1 order of tumble weeds, a smokehouse burger, and/or the texas fries with brisket or pulled pork. This place absolutely rocks, and youll hate yourself if you dont try this place before its gone.
MoreI love BBQ and have eaten at all the top spots in KC this place is as good as the best in KC, its my favorite for brisket! Its AMAZING
MoreFamily owned. Locally a star. Dining room has a great layout to keep noise minimal for a low key meal.Food is excellent if you want a particular item call ahead! Right now they are working on getting a second smoker running, between that and shortages they run out of their brisket pretty quickly on the weekends.Haystacks, cornbread muffins, and their brisket are the must haves for me.
MoreCustomer service was horrible. She had just a stupid look on her face the whole time maybe because we were new there and were asking questions about the menu. Would give you 0 stars but doesnt give me that option. Definitely wont be coming back! Food wasnt that great either.
MoreExcellent experience! The food was absolutely amazing and the drinks are splendid… not to mention the super clean, fun atmosphere! It also has a cute party room, with a fireplace.
MoreAwesome BBQ. Had a brisket sammich with tons of toppings. Smokey flavor and juicy. The tumbleweeds are balls awesome. Super friendly people too, just like in Texas.
MorePaid 13$ for a medium rare burger and got a well done boot. Also that 13$ is just for the burger. You have to buy sides separate so you’ll end up spending 18$ on one person and you’ll still leave hungry. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY LIKE I DID
MoreThey were out of ribs..the brisket was a good substitute
Truly enjoyed my dining experience here I would say its worth eating again.
This place hit the spot. Ribs were tender and fell off the bone. I dig the spicy bbq sauce. Creamy corn, Mac and cheese are legit. If your barbe down the street ran out, give Tired Texan a try.
MoreOrdered the half pound brisket, coleslaw and of course cornbread!!! IT WAS ALL ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!! Im a born and raised Texan and this was some of the best brisket I have ever had!!! Youve gotta try it out!!!!!!
MoreAs a Texas Native who relocated up here in 2021, I had read and heard a lot of great things about Tire Texan, so I had to try it. I went with 3 other Texans for lunch.I try not to compare Texas BBQ to anywhere else, everyone does it a lil different and its not better or worse, just regionally different, which is great. But if you are gonna say you are Texan and put Texas all over your menu, then I am gonna hold you to Texas BBQ standards. We were very disappointed with everything from the over done brisket (point or fatty portionto the ribs. The brisket was just mushy and had no flavor. The ribs were charred and tasted as such. We had the burnt ends and while they were nice and tender, there was no flavor to them either. Whatever sauce they were tossed in was better than the 2 sauces on the table. Best part of the meal was the potato appetizers, Texas Tumbleweeds, got us excited that everything else would be equal to or better... sadly, it just fell off the side of a cliff after that. And for the record, Pulled Pork is not a thing in Texas, we do Beef. Nothing wrong with Pulled Pork, but it is not Texas BBQ.I highly recommend Smokin Barrel BBQ, he has it down and knows what he is doing.
MoreFair. Decent BBQ, poor value for the money IMHO. Youve got to really love the q and get in early before the ribs run out. I do like the sauce, the cornbread muffin tops, and the potato salad.
MoreAlways have enjoyed great bbq, this is exactly that great food run by great people. Got just about the whole menu, brisket, ribs, pulled pork. Everything was great the ribs were a standout close to fall off the bone but with a nice chew still. Brisket, wow great brisket done very well with a nice bark went great with the fries.
MoreAn excellent service I loved the hamburger that was served to me and everything else the pleasant atmosphere and very good attention.Probably the best burger Ive ever had.
MoreI cant believe I havent reviewed this place yet and I love BBQ (been all over the country sampling it). This reminds me of being down south like towards Memphis kinda smokehouse place. Sauce is ALWAYS on the side dry rub it all and when you walk in, check the meat counter to see whats still left. If you arent aware, thats what true smoke houses do. They make just enough and when its gone, its gone. Get the ribs or the brisket. Its really brisket, not some Midwestern idea that always comes out like potroast. This place and another smokehouse (think a swines gluteus maximusare my Omaha area go to places for good BBQ.
MoreMy favorite BBQ in town. If I could fill a pool with their cream corn and then eat my way out of it, I would. Ive tried all of their meats, and theyre all superb examples of what they are meant to be. The only thing I dont like about the Tired Texan is that I dont go more often.
MoreGreat food!! Enjoyed ribs, brisket, pulled pork, mac n cheese, cornbread, and sweet tea. First time eating here and I really enjoyed the food. My family and I will be back!!
MoreI liked the friendliness when you walk in and I love the tumbleweeds sample that was served to us and the Cornbread that we ordered was delicious. I cant wait to eat in one day and try more items on the menu.
MoreEverything we tried was super tasty and came out very quick, Annie our waitress was attentive and a total sweetheart, will definitely be back!
MoreGreat food. Brisket and creamed corn is fantastic! Friendly service.
Went during off hours so it was not busy. Ordered the ribs and two meat platter. The ribs were perfect. The pork took the smoke beautifully. Brisket was moist . All was eaten without bbq sauce because you look for the flavor of the meat, not the sauce. Staff was excellent..will definitely go back again.
MoreLast minute dinner for eight...yikes! I called tired texan since Id seen their chicken special on FB. Smoked chicken, potato salad, beans, creamed corn, corn muffin tops & peach cobbler. OMG!They were happy to help & I pulled off impromptu dinner. Thank you so much!
MoreMy family and I visited the Tired Texan a couple of days ago after reading rave reviews online and it was recommended by a coworker of mine. The staff was extremely nice and the restaurant is pristine! We ordered our food (to goand the food lacked flavor across the board. Like, I can see the seasoning and the meat was tender, falling off of the bone but there was zero flavor. Meat, bland. Baked beans, bland and tasted like it came straight from a can. I ordered a peach mango tea that was supposed to have sweet tea added to it, bland with a hint of a hint of peach mango. The mild and spicy bbq sauce both tasted the same, like ketchup. The cornbread muffin was fluffy and so so on flavor; it needed just a little bit more “oomph”. I will say that the creamed corn was good out of everything in our order. Maybe this was an off night, maybe we’ll try it one more time but man this was a rough first impression.
MoreThe food was absolutely amazing and our waitress was great and it was very keto friendly loved it we will definitely be back
More1/2 pound of brisket 10$ had a rich beef flavor and a tender texture.Light and airy coleslawCorn bread is a house recipe I can’t get enough of!French fries were ok, husband liked them and at 2.99 for a good amount.Texas Tumbleweeds which areDeep fried potato, bacon and cheddar cheeseOmg really an amazing flavor of love!Regular BBQ sauce was tangy spice that wasn’t necessarily my favorite but I believe a flavor of a Sauce is up to you!Excited to try other meats at this establishment
MoreThis is some of the BEST BBQ I’ve ever had!!Can’t say enough about it!Normally when I see a restaurant attached to a chain motel, I keep on driving, but this is a spot you should NOT pass up!
MoreMy husband and I thoroughly enjoyed eating at the Tired Texan. We both got the brisket which came with delightful, moist cornbread muffin tops. We also ordered cole slaw, his was traditional, mine was with poppyseed dressing. Mmmmmm mmmm was it good and our tummies wete very happy when we left!
MoreGood BBQ. Kinda spendy, but the service was great and so was the food.
Initial review....One of the nice things about coming here is the free Texas tumbleweed that they bring to your table when you arrive. There were 3 at the table. I was told this was a normal case that they bring this out. Im unsure if its one per person. My only criticism is if it is 1 per person they should bring it out when the other two guests arrive as at the time we were not there so it was getting cold.Navajo fry bread sliders 5 starsChicken sandwich 4 starsThe brisket sammich 5 starsRib and 2 meat (brisket and pulled pork4.5 starsOutlaw creamed corn 4.5 starsPeach mango tea 5 starsColeslaw 4 starsFries 3.75 starsIm told the sides are the stars of the show here. We were warned about the fries. They used to make them in house but changed to a more streamlined version. The coleslaw was good but I think I might have preferred the poppy seed. I plan to try that next time if I get a chanceThe peach mango tea stood out. Its got flavor but no sugar. This might not be good for others but for me it was fantastic. There seems to be a bit of confusion about the amount of meat that comes on the platter. I checked the reviews and a response was that it is 3 oz, but the server did say it was 4 oz.Service was a mix.We had an order (I noticed they do sell them in orders of 6of tumbleweeds dropped off at our table by a different server. We informed them we did not order them. The person said they were told it was for this table. The server came by and we hold our server. The server took it back. When he was there he was very friendly and personable. At times it was absent, but maybe their patrons prefer to be left alone in general? I did have to ask for a refill by going to the counter once, but after that time he checked up much more.I do want to return and see if they are consistent.
MoreThis place was great! I had the brisket (points), pulled pork and ribs combo plate with fries. The ribs and brisket were incredible! The ribs had a great rub and were perfectly smoked. They were so tender they just fell off the bone when you bit them. The brisket was flavorful, and so tender you could cut it with a fork. I was amazed. The cornbread was the best Ive ever had, and they served a delicious local honey with it. The fries were delicious, seasoned just right and perfectly cooked. I had the honey lemonade and it was a touch sweet but still good. The hot BBQ sauce actually had a spicy little kick to it, and it tastes great. I finished off my meal with a slice of their caramel pie, which was like heaven on a plate! The service was very prompt and friendly, and the place was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. There are only 3 BBQ joints that I would recommend and this place is one of them. They serve Coke products, which is unfortunate.
MoreBest place to eat BBQ!! Hands down smoked to perfection meats. I had the 3 meat combo dinner which consist of 3 ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. I was amazed how good it tasted. Fall of the bone ribs. Ive lived in Omaha for over 25 years and it was the best BBQ experience Ive had in Omaha! Tired Texan lives up to its name with Texas being in it, cause all of the food is like home to me being as I grew up in Texas. I highly recommend this place. Awesome food, service was great!!
MoreBrisket was tender and had a good smokey flavor. Im not a fan of the particular smoke they use but is was still makes well and tasted good. The pulled pork was not particularly exciting. Didnt really get any of the smokey flavor coming through it. Im a creamy coleslaw fan and I would not opt for that again, it was pretty bland. They do have other slaw option thought. The facility was was clean and even though it was loud you could still have a conversation that wasnt competing with the noise.
MoreAbsolutely blown away by this Omaha BBQ joint! Omaha isn’t particularly known for good BBQ, but these guys are doing something correct. The ribs are to die for and extremely juicy, while the brisket is also a great meat choice as well. Get the brisket with more marbling on it and you can’t go wrong!“Ooh mama ain’t that Texas Cookin’ good?” -George Strait
More2/8/2019Ill preface all of this with the following: Do not eat a heavy breakfast before visiting TTB as you will kick yourself if youre not able to finish your meal. The thing about TTB that stands out among two other alleged BBQ places in the area is the authenticity. Famous Daves slathers their sub-par fare in sauce (the BBQ equivalent of dousing a well-done steak in ketchupwhile Hog Wild tries to come off as down home. However, their dry meats require as much sauce as you can spray onto them in order to be edible.Instead of making everything at one point in the week and warming it up as they go, TTB cooks everything fresh daily and when its gone, its gone. That might be concerning to some, but realize that any legit place for Q will be like this. The atmosphere is cozy with plenty of room at the bar and enough TVs to catch the game or keep the little ones occupied. TTB is kept extremely clean both in and out of the kitchen. Yes, I did see it in its entirety thanks to owner Chip who gave me the grand tour. So, nice place, right? "But wait! Hows the food?!" Youve got some attitude, buddy. The good news is your patience is well-rewarded at TTB. The first thing I was served up was their now-famous Texas Tumbleweeds. A hushpuppy variant, these lovely little balls of potato, cheese and bacon are a great way to start your meal.I was in luck as today, they were featuring their burnt ends which isnt always the case. Be sure to call early if you want in on those because they go FAST. However, the friendly staff will happily keep your food nice and hot for when you stop in.I opted for a platter that came with ribs, brisket, a side (I chose the baked mac and cheese because...I mean come on, its baked mac and cheeseand my drink with an a la carte order of burnt ends. Seriously, folks, this stuff is fall-off-the-bone tender and the burnt ends are honest to goodness the best Ive ever tasted. Ive been to Kansas City, Ive been to St. Louis and they were put to shame by Omahas own.IF your appetite survives past this point, the Hersheys pie is a perfect rich, creamy capper to your evening. Be sure to say hello to Chip and the gang as they happily take a moment to interact and chat it up with everyone. Great food served by great people. TTB is a new Omaha staple.
MoreTried tired Texan BBQ for the first time today. My friends had recommended it to me. Ordered the two meat combo with pulled pork and brisket. Both needs were incredibly good but by far the brisket was my favorite. Amazing flavor and very tender. Beans were also excellent and very spicy which I liked. While the food was excellent the one major complaint that I had was the portion size. For the money it was very small and felt more like a sample dish more than a meal. I wouldnt hesitate to go back but I would definitely order the meat by weight instead so I had enough to make an actual meal. The server was friendly and very nice. All in all, I will definitely go back and definitely one of the better barbecue places in Omaha that I have tried.
MoreMy husband and I tried this place today and were a bit disappointed. The atmosphere and decor were nice although the dining area was very loud with conversations. The service was great but the food was a bit lacking. The Tumbleweeds were tasty but the ranch I ordered to go with them was really bad. The ribs were very tender but way too dark on the outside for our taste...the only flavor was the char. The beans were just ok. The coleslaw was good and having the choice of different dressings was nice. The barbecue sauce was too vinegary and a sweeter one would be a good addition. I was also disappointed that ham and sausage arent on the menu.
MoreWe have been there twice now and they have the best BBQ I had in Omaha. A little more pricy because its à la carte but definitely worth it. They do have items that are more affordable. You can get a side and a sandwich for around $10 without a drink. The brisket is one of the best Ive ever had at a restaurant. Ribs are very delicious too. I have not had the pulled pork yet. Very nice and clean on the inside. Chatted with the owner for a bit and she was very nice. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone in search of BBQ.
MoreFood lacked any sort of bbq flavor. I ordered the brisket and received what looked like a few pieces of fatty roast beef. I wont be back.
MoreGood food at a reasonable price. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only drawback, the bathrooms are in the hotel section that is attached to the restaurant. Needs better signage to direct you there.
MoreDelicious ribs and dessert. Our server Bre did an amazing job. Great, filling family dinner with plenty leftover.
MoreThis BBQ joint looks a lot better on this inside than the outside but whats more important is the food. Their brisket is among some of the tenderest Ive had and their sauces and sides are amazing as well. If you eat here look for the mac & cheese or baked beans. Their meat is served in 1/4, 1/2, and full pound increments but if that isnt enough for your appetite the Texas Tumbleweed appetizer will ensure you dont go home hungry. Their hours say open until 9 but they close as early as 8 when the food is gone. If you like smoked meats Tired Texan does it right.
MoreFirst time here. BBQ not bad. Mac and cheese side was good. Comfortable seating and good service.
MoreWOW the best smoked meats, I have ever had!! Delish!! Our waitress was Awesome!!
Our waitress was Paris and she was wonderful and the food is great ! Love the creamy corn & the ribs are great with or without the barbecue sauce. Definitely will eat there again!
MoreFANTASTIC brisket! The pulled pork and ribs were good too. I like that two of the Tumbleweed appetizers were complimentary, they were huge and very good!I had the loaded fries, they were super yummy. And my hubby tried all the meats, everything was great! The staff were very friendly and attentive. I will be happy once the alcohol is available, no beer yet. :(We also thought the sauce had a lot vinegar, but it was still a great place with friendly people and delicious food!
