Tip Top BBQ Ikan Bakar (Gerai No 11) in Johor Bahru

Superb!!! Come early as seats are limited..we went around 6ish.. was quite a wait too but u can get others stall food to munch on or fruits...

This was by far the worst ikan bakar experience I’ve had in Malaysia. Being Malaysian, we pride on our ikan Bakar’s being served fresh, with its sauce married to a harmonious mix of flavours- sadly this wasn’t the case with this restaurant.My stingray bakar was uninspiring, it was just sweet (If sweetness were a flavour itself). I ordered the salted egg squid, and god bless the squids were just not fresh it was as if we were tearing tyres with our teeth. It just got sickening after a while. And I saved the best for last, the Chilli Lala was a complete abomination. Most of the clams were closed, drowning in a sea of sickeningly sweet sloppy tomato sauce and ketchup.If you’re looking for ikan bakar, this is just not it. You’re better off having kangkung belacan instead- that seemed to be the only palatable dish.

Seats are limited. Serving time can be quite long. We had the grilled fish, salted egg prawns, stir fried vege, 2 ice kacang, and 2 plain rice. Taste wise is pretty good compared to the first stall. Ice kacang was decent too. Total bill was rm91. There was no breakdown on the price in the bill unlike the first stall which would provide the individual price.

Your go to seafood place in JB. Decently priced with wide variety of southern style seafood. Very helpful staff, who will cater to your every need - taste, size or budget!Although they can do takeaways, I strongly recommend dine-in. The food is considerably better fresh!

Been here twice. Nice food! Ikan pari bakar dia champ! And not too forget nasi goreng cina dia pun sedap! And kedai sebelah dia jual air. Air laici dia sgt sedap juga! So for those looking where to go in Johor, fin this place to eat out.My 3rd times in a row having my dinner here. Nice food!

This stall owned by chinese but their workers are all Moslem (as seeing their outfit and scarf).The foods taste good. Seafood served fresh.

Came there on a Friday afternoon. Ordered stir fried horfun prepared by the helper cooks. Apart from the appetizing look I would say the ingredients and taste are having room to improve. Instead of having the traditional prawn, fish cake slices and squid, it comes with only chicken slices and vege. The gravy lacks that typical punchy seafood oyster sauce flavour. I also had the ice kacang, which I think they offer a better version after sunset, but my taste bud could be deceiving as Ive been having too much too frequent such ice desserts recently.

If you want a different taste of ikan bakar, then this is the place! Ive been here since I was a child. Also try their ABC. This one without ice-cream and I prefer it this way. Try tahu bakar also.

Never disappoints! This is the king of "Ikan bakar" in JB & the original Tip Top. Dont be confused by another similar outlet at the end of the stalls.

Owners are nice. Grilled stingray is tender. Toast bean curd and dough with ground peanut in prawn paste are nice. Ice Kacang is nice. Youve got triple nice from me.Ice Kacangs serving is generous, contained in a big bowl with handle for hygienic handling. Its easily one of the best in Johor Bahru.

We had the grilled fish and cuttlefish. Also the taufu and cakoi. All very good.ABC also good. Can come again. Recommended.

This is the street to get grilled seafood aka Ikan Bakar. Although this stall is rated highly, I think the adjacent stalls are equally good providing other dishes not found in this stalls menu. Can get very crowded in the evening.

Rem to eat at STALL 11. The 1st stall at the corner is no longer Tip Top!The bbq stingray is a MUST ORDER! tender fish, great and tasty chilli and jinjalok on top, probably the best bbq fish in JB! Chilli crab was huge, juicy and super delicious, chilli crab sauce was well made! Heard the owner and chef was featured in various newspaper, tv and radio! Highly recommend! Also do order the ai yu jelly/ ice jelly. Yum yum

We went there because of the high rating, but end up disappointed. The food is tasteless. The sambal is bland, doesnt taste like sambal ikan bakar at all. This stall is owned by Chinese, so I think they probably did not cook the proper sambal way, hence the taste. The salted egg butter prawn was rather overcooked. The price is OK if you are from kl. Waited for more than 35 mins for our food. I will not repeat this place again. Still dont understand how could the rating be so high.

I love the service at this stall. I have been there a couple of times. The owner is very friendly and considerate. The food is good. Try the ikan pari Bakar and the clams. Those dishes were good. The price is reasonable.

Cheap n delicious place for dinner..no supper coz they close early

I get to know this place since early 1980s and have been a regular customer even after they shifted to Tengku Puteri Hawkers Centre. Unfortunately after moving to KL, I seldom have the chance to dine here and are not aware of this outlet shifted to stall no. 11.Tonite, I had the food at TOP ONE BBQ IKAN BAKAR stall, the stall where Tip Top BBQ was. The foods were LOUSY, PLAIN and the price was ridiculous. Feel cheated because they camouflage Tip Top BBQ by employing their ex workers to confuse the long lost Tip Tops regular customer. Tip Top BBQ Ikan Bakar is the best in JB.

Many of JBian have their own experience with Tip Top, beginning with the late Nyonya until now runs by her son. The most that we looking for at this place is their pari bakar with sambal , chilli crab, and not forgetting their hot buns, where we can eat with those chilli crab. Their ice jagung and ice kacang also nice. The price also 4 star.

Fresh seafood and variety of choices! Must try their Ikan Bakar (grilled fish / stingray). Sambal (chilli pasteis homemade and taste amazing! Love their salted egg squid too! I will usually ask for extra gravy and more spicy! love it!

It was so good! I particularly loved the crab. Will definitely come again and try the salted egg version. Its quite busy so come earlier of you want the best pick.

Good food - if you can stomach the prices. Their prices might be high, but the taste more than makes up for it.They used to be at the corner lot, but shifted to stall no. 11 due to some circumstances. Dont be confused with Top One. Tip Top is the original ikan bakar stall at Tepian Tebrau.

Expensive! We were charged RM160 for 2 persons. We had one crab Chillies RM78 , salted egg prawn RM45 for 5 pieces, kailan, and pari bakar and one plate of rice. I dont bother to look at the itemized bill for the rest since it costs me the bomb! Taste can be improved as I can eat better at other place and cheaper.

Seriously good, chinese owner but the cook is malay. Do not suggest for those who have discrimination in their mind coz came across a couple acting very rude towards this stall. Overall the food and the service from the owner is excellent. Recommended to all food lovers.

Been to this place since 2015.. place where my bf(now hubby alreadyused to bring for dates.. recommended the salted egg crab n prawns also lala or cockles sambal..

Delicious! The sambal was out of this world! I ordered Ais Jelly as well and what a delight that was. Reasonable prices too...6 of us were well fed for RM 108.

Grilled sea bass was very good! No fish smell and really fresh 😊 staffs are very friendly and easy to talk. Her suggestions were very helpful and truly good !魚のグリルが本当に美味しかった！

This place is over rated. The food is not tasty and it is expensive. They impose minimum order 300g for everythg. If it is tasty maybe that would be a problem. I ordered the ikan pari, tauhu, sotong goreng tepung and butter prawn, other than the prawn which was just average taste, the other dishes really wasnt good.

Sure it’s nice! You can’t eat it all at one time, but it’s better than nothing. Keep on visiting to taste all the mouth watering foods! A place must visit.
