A great hole-in-the-wall joint for delicious Filipino kamayan feast! The inside is small and cozy, with lots of tables side by side and a busy vibe. The kamayan feast was super tasty and filling, with huge portions of seafood, pork belly, pork skewers, and garlic rice. It’s great value at $20 per person at the time of this writing. They even offer you more garlic rice if you aren’t stuffed already! The tilapia was slightly overcooked compared to what I’m used to, but maybe it’s just me. We also had the ube kalaya dessert, which was tasty with a nutty jam-like consistency. All in all, a great experience that I’ll definitely come back for.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the garlic rice and the seafood. Glad to see it’s still here after COVID because their portions are huge and very affordable!
The garlic rice is phenomenal and the roast meats were also delicious. Go for the milkfish, it seems to be more popular. Delicious food served simply and generously portioned. Affordable and balanced. The calamansi juice was also great, definitely worth trying, its like a cross between a lemonade and an orange juice.Super fast and friendly service too! Perfect for large groups 👍
We were treated terribly October 14, 2022 at around 6pm. Our server failed to share with us what the different side options were despite several questions so once we ordered, based on simply looking at the menu options only protein was brought to the table......A second server described his colleague as shy. Which if so,, has nothing to do with hospitality and proudly sharing explaining to a patron your offerings. My initial visit was August 2019 and I was accompanied by my Filipino coworker, who made the experience then quite memorable.
The food was phenomenal overall! The grilled squid was cooked perfectly, the fish were tasty as well as the shrimp. The fried rice was just right and abundant. Overall I cant stop raving about the amount and quality of food you get for merely $20 per person. This place is now our default Filipino food place going forward.
Overall taste is good!Nice balance of flavour!Lots of bones in the fish that was dangerous to eat...Pork was undercooked...Mussels were overcooked...
Go here with a bunch of friends or family, and hage some fun. Great food, awesome value and a unique experience! The lechon pork belly is an essential add on.
Tinuno is a cozy, fairly priced restaurant in downtown that serves home felt Filipino feast. Get ready to dig in Kamayan (shown in 2nd picwith your hands. Fish meat was charred to taste while Squid was very tender and fresh.Service was lovely. Staffs were all knowledgeable and hospitable.Highly recommend to try their dessert as well. My fav were ube cheesecake, leche flan and cassavas cake.
Tucked away in the quiet Howard Street, Tinuno is a gem if you enjoy authentic Philippines food. The food is very fresh and finger licking good. The portion is very reasonable. Would highly recommend this unassuming place with great tasting food.
Excellent food. Its fun to eat with your hands, and they provide gloves if you prefer. One order of the Kamayan was delicious and filling for 2. The atmosphere was cafeteria-like. There are benches for large groups and small seating arrangements in corners for tables for 2. There is outdoor seating which is nice during the summer. The washrooms are downstairs at the back with a communal sink. The price is reasonable, considering it has a lot of seafood. Would definitely return.
The kamayan dinner is delicious! UNLIMITED garlic rice 😍😋😍 and the staff are all very lovely. Great fun eating the traditional Filipino feast off of the banana leaves.
The food was absolutely delicious. A perfect kamayan. The fish was incredibly fresh and the rice was perfectly cooked. Minus a star because I had a reservation yet you still seated us on the second floor where service was naturally terrible. Minus another star because you didnt have desert to accompany dinner. If you werent going to have options available, that should have been made clear at the time of the reservation, upon whence I could promptly cancel. Really slimy move.
Lovely small place to eat authentic Philippino food. As I was trying out the cuisine for the 1st time the server helped us with our order. All the meat was grilled to perfection and the food tasted fresh. Highly recommend the place. Thank you Tinuno for a great experience
Kamayan!!! Deliciously prepared Filipino food! Come with at least 3 of your friends! The more the merrier… bbq pork, garlic fried rice, pompano, milkfish, and tilapia grilled fish, pork belly etc. all on banana leaves. It’s the best!!!
I have been here so many times for the Kamayan and it has been AMAZING each time. The pork skewers & pork belly are always so juicy and perfectly seasoned, the fish is bbq really good too (a lil too burnt for me but that’s ok).We were all super full afterwards!!A lil sad bc of the slight price increases since pre pandemic, but def worth the extra $$ to support such an amazing place!3 person Kamayan— $20 per person
Delicious feast for two! Must order their calamansi juice as well. Service is very quick, much appreciated. They also do have a takeout counter inside
Loved the experience.. food was greatGloves are given if u do not want to eat by handsCustomer service was good !! We had someone who was on his last day and he was so nice 👍🏽
Eating with gloves wasnt what I come to expect but the authenticity of the Pilipino experience I enjoyed it. I left full and the food is tasty.
We got the Kamayan. $20 per person. It was so much food, everything was super tasty and there was tons of food leftover. Super great for the value.
The food was amazing! The service was also very good. We had a great time eating dinner at this place:love it
Delicious meal that cost about $12 including tax. The pork belly was fried perfectly and the garlic fried rice was delicious. The mango salad and vinegary sauce they provided on the side complimented the meal so well as it provided some well needed acidity. Yum!
Got the Kamyam for 2, and it was perfect portion. Loved eating with our hands on banana leaves.
Great motherland comfort food for a more reasonable price compared to some other Filipino restaurants in Toronto. I ordered thru ubereats and I loved the packaging. I recommend the grilled Tilapia. Its so good! 😋
A fun eat with your hands experience with your friends.Garlic fried rice is amazing with meat skewers, shrimp and fried fish.
The best Filipino restaurant Ive known. BBQ seafood feast was served on banana leaf with rice. Plastic gloves provided to eat with hand. Price is reasonable and their desserts are absolutely amazing!!
First try of Filipino cuisine and it was amazing. The bbq seafood feast is absolutely something you must try. Set on banana leaf and rice, eat with hand! (Plastic glove providedNo strong spices, very yummy! The calamary and pork crackling was good too.
The garlic rice is bomb, the squid is bomb, the pork is bomb, the fish is bomb, the mussel is bomb, the shirmp is bomb, and the papaya salad is bomb..Not only that, its super reasonably priced. It worked out to $20 per person and its more than enough since the garlic rice is free refills!Highly recommended to book a reservation since the place is small and it gets super busy!
Fun experience eating “the feast” with our hands. I’m not sure why one portion is $18 but if you order 2, its $20 per person. The meats were good and there is a lot of variety, although most cuts were very fatty. Seafood was good. We ordered the milkfish which was a bit overcooked but overall still tasty. I would’ve liked if there was a bit more of the mango salad to cut the fattiness of the meats. Portion size was great and the staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant was packed at lunch!!
Small, hole in the wall Filipino restaurant! The garlic rice and tapa was delicious, but the adobo was a little dry. The staff were incredibly friendly and made the experience quite enjoyable! Would definitely go again! 🤤
Overall, I was happy with the amount of food that we got with the price but the food itself was not so tasty - it was bland and some were too burnt. We got the mini kamayan, lechon kawali, longsilog and ube cheesecake.Kamayan feast - everything was underseasoned. The fish was too charred while the BBQ lacked the char (maybe it was baked?). Rice was okay but definitely not enough for the amount of ulam you receive. The one thing that tasted good was the ube cheesecake — except it was too expensive for the size. $8 for two half-cupcake sizes (not even a whole cupcake size).
We stop by just want to have a quick meal, turns out it is one of the best Filipino food we had! This place doesn’t looks fancy or anything from the outside but their seafood is super fresh and tasty. Would recommend reserving your table ahead of time, as this place is packed when we went.
got it from Bathurst place. too over cooked. The fish is 90% black and taste weird. Its not expensive but not worth it. The best thing might be the orange
Food was awesome, but like why was the taste of the okra taste old? It made us lose our appetite… just wish that the crew that’s cooking makes sure that if something doesnt taste good or look funny then don’t serve it to the customers lol..
Food tasted amazing and the portions were huge. However, some food was overcooked and tasted burned. Overall, price was reasonable, and you could also enjoy unlimited garlic rice. The staff was very nice and friendly. Their desserts are must-try. Definitely will come back again
Boy has this place gone downhill! It used to be very good and now they deliver burnt food. Worst of all, they don’t answer their phone calls so they get away with their mistakes. Also, portions have decreased considerably. Ordered the kamayan feast for 2 and still pretty hungry afterwards. I do not recommend anymore.(Sunday February 13, 2022)
We got the Kamayan feast for 2 and it was pretty good! The lumpia was really delicious too.I wasn’t a huge fan of the cassava cake but it was my first time trying it so might be that I’m not really used to eating it.I do wish the grills came with some dipping sauces though.
The food is great! I love how its served on banana leave! I live up the road so this is my go to place when ever I want a great seafood! And I just realize now they serve their signature food in to go boxes! So happy to be able to order this to go now.
I was visiting Toronto for several weeks, and on my last day, I realized I hadnt tried any Filipino food while I was there. In my search, I found Tinuno, and it did not disappoint at all.In Ilocano ,Tinuno means "grilled." Despite having both parents from the Philippines, I still hadnt tried kamayan. Undoubtedly, this was one of the yummiest and most affordable Filipino dishes/experiences Ive eaten/tried.Their kamayan is cheap, delicious, and hefty in portions. Included in the dish are pork belly, pork bbq on a skewer, squid, shrimp, mussels, your choice of either tilapia or milkfish (or both for a small additional fee), okra, eggplant, mango + orange slices, and plenty of rice (of course). You can add extra servings of anything for an additional fee as well.As for the ambiance, the restaurant itself is quite tiny, so I would recommend one make a reservation beforehand. The staff was beyond welcoming and kind; I felt right at home with the chatter of Tagalog and Ilocano in the background.10/10 would recommend this place! I could not recommend it enough!
My new favourite Toronto restaurant! The banana leaf plates and communal eating style are a welcome change of pace and all the food was well cooked and seasoned. Prices were exceptional and service was fantastic - will definitely be returning!
The food and restaurant is the same as what I remembered when my friend and I dined here at Tinuno a few years ago. All we could remember was how dry and rubbery the fish was.. and too much of our surprise, it was still the same food quality as before. Nothing has really changed. Ive been advised by many people who have dined here that it isnt the best place for Kamayan feast and there are much better ones in Toronto. However, the price is pretty cheap ($18.95 per personfor the amount of food we had so quantity over quality here. If you pay cash, taxes are excluded.Funny enough, among us five who dined here yesterday, we said that the garlic rice was the only tasty item in this Kamayan feast. It is certainly worth the first try but I wouldnt come back again. Im looking forward to redeem my Kamayan experience at Casa Manila next week.
Always love this place. Tasty food. Good service! Oh, their Monggo is to die for. ☺️☺️☺️Edit:I’ve ordered the kamayan feast good for two and man that was delicious!Update: ordered the same thing again. I noticed the rice wasn’t so garlicky as the first time and wasn’t as much pork slices and squid given compared to the first time.Ps. Hoping they have consistency in the future!
Being part Filipino it was great to visit one of Torontos few sit-down Filipino restaurants. The menu is filled with signature Pinoy dishes, but if you are here the Kamayan Feast/Boodle Fight is the reason for eating sit-down. Not eating it is the equivalent of not getting All-You-Can-Eat at an AYCE Sushi Place, or ordering Ala Carte from a Korean BBQ Place. The food is delicious and reminiscent of authentic Filipino cuisine, which is expected since the staff/chefs are actually Filipino/Filipina. The mussels, chicken/pork, shrimp and other meats are all marinated and cooked to be very moist and the rice and salad are seasoned perfectly. The only downside of the restauraunt is the size. Traditionally Kamayan Feast/Boodle Fights are shared with large families or large groups of friends. At this location its only a small amount of tables which max out at maybe 4-6 people? Because of this its hard to host a large gathering here without having to rearrange pretty much every table in the place. Fortunately they do offer takeout, however it isnt as authentic as the leaf on table servings.
My sweetie and I ventured into Torontos Upper Jarvis / St. James Town neighbourhood for a late traditional Filipino lunch. After paying for Toronto P street parking about 100 metres away, we walked to this old renovated house turned restaurant, which also now shares a common pathway to a health & wellness business upstairs. We waited 10 minutes in the very small corridor, showed our provincial vaccine passports to allow us to dine indoors, and were then seated at a window table (which made us feel safer based on the narrow venue layout). Our server was very courteous & efficiently tending to our dining experience. We ordered the Tinuno signature Kamayan Feast for $18/person. It was served on a wooden board loaded with Milkfish (..Tilapia was the other choice), squid, mussels, shrimps, pork belly, BBQ pork, garlic rice, eggplant, okra, slices orange, and mango salad. The beverages selected? A can of Coconut Water and a can of Calamansi. What was the dining intrigue? No utensils; youre given a pair of thin plastic gloves to feed yourself! Wow, I thought this was fascinating.Final thoughts: fresh seafood, excellent service, rice served was harder than our preference, would be nice if Tinuno offered a chicken or beef substitution for pork. We will return for another terrific meal!
Reserve a spot, gather friends, enjoy food and experience food together! What an authentic Filipino experience of the Kamayan/Boodle Fight (eating with your hands)! Ive been here several times before and the restaurant is such a wonderful experience. Make sure to reserve as it gets really busy!We went for the Kamayan experience where they have banana leaves laid on the table and dished out all the food on top. Their Kamayan has milkfish, tilapia, squid, shrimp, mussel, pork belly, pork skewer, okra, eggplant, mango salad and garlic rice. You can request for more garlic rice if you need to but theres so much just sharing with your group! You can also order more appetizers as well like lumpia (variation of spring rollsand lechon (roasted porkas well. They also have 3 locations total in Downtown (St. Jamestown area), Little Manila (North York areaand Scarborough Town Centre.
Friendly staff but the food quality and value wasnt as great as other places.Needs to improve the garlic rice, hardly had any garlic flavor in it.I think the place is great for those who need a bit more refined eating environment. I prefer to have high quality and higher value foods and dont really care too much about the environment or friendly staff.
Great food, awesome price. My favorite protein was the pork in a stick. The garlic rice was really delicious, and the aroma it gives off when being laid out really whet my appetite.
I have wanted to come here for over two years, hearing great things about this place through friends, family, and of course social media. YouTube and Google Maps in particular have raved about this place. So when the opportunity arose, I jumped at the chance to get takeout here. I think dining in is a little bit cramped so I probably wouldnt have opted for the dine in option pre-covid, during covid, or eventually post covid. But if cramped is your style with guests... And others thats great! Parking wasnt too much of an issue for a Wednesday in the summer but I bet it would be difficult in other busier periods. I opted for the kamayan feast and was impressed with the presentation and the taste of everything. Just like I was back in the Philippines I was eating with my hands and indulging in some chicken, mango, pork, and other delicacies. I ate everything that was offered in the box and wouldnt hesitate eating here again if given the chance. Thanks again
When my friends visit me in downtown, I take them here. Their services is great and food is very tasty. They do not serve tap water due to covid-19 restrictions and I recommend mango drink (its a can one tho).
Tasty food, reasonable price and the portion is just right. I really appreciate that they have the option to have a boneless fish fillet for those who are not used to eating a whole fish.Other than the seafood, their garlic rice and mango salad are also delicious. They gave us gloves so that we can eat with our hands. It was a fun and tasty experience overall!
Definitely by far totally worth the experience and the food is AMAZING! Theyre super kind great service, the prices are amazing.Pre-covid it was always packed. You had to always make reservations or you just wouldnt get a seat. The restaurant is small so you were literally sitting quite close to the next table around you. That totally didnt matter it was the experience, by far my favorite restaurant. The food is so well cooked and presentation is WOW.The experience of eating with your hands ( they do provide you clear gloves as they do at other seafood restaurants)ZERO utensils!Banana leafs on the table , bed of rice on top on Banana leafs and just everything on top of that. I literally considered eating like this at home... Easy clean up ha ha ha.Im not sure what life here would look like after Covid and I hope they figure it out. I havent done take out as I live in the far west end, so not sure how they are serving take out. Maybe I will take a trip!🥰🥰🥰
