Tin Fish in Tinley Park
Description
Privilege
This was my first time here, and it was amazing. The atmosphere was relaxed, yet refined. Our waitress was very attentive and patient, even though she was quite busy. Id definitely revisit this restaurant. I got the Georges Bank scallops, sautéed, with smashed potatoes", and the" Dark Flourless Belgian Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream."
MoreSo this spot was highly recommened by a friend so we figured the drive would be worth it. We arrived roughly 30 minutes prior to the restaurant opening and waited as a small line eventually started forming at the door before getting out of our vehicle. This was a good sign considering the hype our friends gave this place. However I became somewhat sceptical since we arrived just as the fish delivery truck was off loading what appeared to be boxes of frozen seafood. I joked with my wife about it but wasnt put off by the idea bc frozen seafood in the rural area we were in only made sense. To expect fresh seafood so far away from Chicago or major area with a seafood market would be somewhat unrealistic especially given that it was already after 10am and here was a white truck with no refrigeratoration unit on it sliding boxes out the back. Regardless we entered, were taken to our seats and ordered the large seafood appetizer plater, an entree I cant really remember since it was just ok and the cheese cake, one strawberry and the other a chocolate turtle woth peacan. So as you can see that 1 star rating I gave the place was solely based on the appetizer and desert as the main course wasnt enough to right the ship on this disastrous meal. So within an hohr of eatimg the clams from the seafood plater and my wife is gets sick. Luckily we were already gone otherwise the place would need a new decor bc it really did a number on her. So what about the desert? Well I asked the waitress if the cheese cake was made inhouse which she replied YES. Well that good bc thats how I like it. So I wait by the bar for my To-Go deserts and as I look into the kitchen I see a kitchen prep staff fighting to cut a piece of frozen cheese cake from a larger FROZEN cake. When I say this prep staff struggled to cut a piece off the cake I am not exaggerating, he than placed it in the microwave and finally decorated them and handed to the waitress who then tried to put in my hand. NO THANKS. needless to say this was a long review but it captures just how the Tin Fish operates.
MoreIncredible food. The best Oyster Rockefeller Ive ever had.
Fantastic fish restaurant! Came here with my family and we had a wonderful time. Our server, Krissy, was very attentive and kind during our visit! She kept the drinks refreshed and food arrived on time and hot! Would definitely come here again!
MoreMy wife and I were there for Valentines night. The service was very good and attentive. The complimentary valet parking was thoughtful. We ordered the Siagon beef lettuce wraps the beef was delicious but the sauce was extremely salty. The claim chowder was thick and creamy. We then ordered the 25oz prime rib for two with green beans and crispy smashed potatoes. The prime rib was a bit too fatty. The green beans lacked flavor and potatoes were not crispy and needed salt.
MoreIts an okay restaurant. Not sure Id return. I ordered the char grilled white fish which I found bland. Mashed potatoes were tasty. I tasted my friends corn meal coated catfish it was bland, too. The portions were good. Wait service good.
MoreWe had stone crab appetizer, Nantucket Bay scallops and creme brulee. AMAZING. I was so happy they still had the scallops I was hoping for AND stone crab was super good. Tinfish is definitely my favorite restaurant! Kristine was great too, very on top of it and helpful. Cant wait to return.
MoreEvery meal was cooked to perfection. I and my brother came to see cousins and they took us here. The staff was efficent, knowledgable and helpful. We had 10 people and all our food came out at the same time and proper temperature.
MoreThis is a great restaurant. I have been going for many years. Our entire family loves this place. I also bring a lot of business clients here. Skip downtown Tin Fish has the highest quality fish in the entire Chicago-land area for sure. They often carry around an entire fish that was fresh caught in the wild to show off to the patrons before they take it back into the kitchen to filet.Highly Recommend,Bryan N.
MoreEverything from top to bottom was fantastic at Tin Fish. Although busy, we were able to get a table quickly. The server was quick, attentive, and accurate while following up numerous times throughout our meal to see if we needed anything. We sampled a little bit of everything on the menu, from salads to appetizers to soup to main courses and finished with dessert. All were cooked perfectly, were fresh, and very tasty. Additionally, for the service and quality of the food, it was very reasonably priced. I would recommend Tin Fish to anyone in the area.
MoreUnfortunately my return to this restaurant after 15 years was a significant disappointment. The one thing I had always heard was that Tin Fish was an excellent place for lunch or dinner. My wife and I went to lunch there for a little celebration. Unfortunately there was no taste to anything except the tea she had, the martini I had and her mashed potatoes we both shared. My pop had no carbonation and a bottled root beer that was its substitute didnt either. What we both had wasnt seasoned and didnt have any kind of taste to them. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. I rarely say this, but in my disappointment, I would never recommend that anyone go to this restaurant.
MoreSimple menu of a few fish options and some steaks. Atmosphere seemed lacking but overall we had a good meal at a reasonable price.
MoreWell I hate to leave bad reviews so thats the only reason this is a two. First things first, the service. Very nice people however it was incredibly slow. We rarely saw our waitress and it took nearly an hour and a half to get our entrees. Most of our entrees were over cooked, the scallops I got were rubbery, the steak someone else got was well-done though we ordered it medium. The batter on someones chicken was burned. Though the taste was good, everything was either burned or over cooked. Ill probably give it another chance one day and update this review accordingly but this experience was not good.
MoreGreat variety of seafood dishes available-be aware that many are VERY rich & heavy, especially odd for a fresh seafood restaurant. Got the smoked salmon BLT & toast was soaked in oil. Also the crab & red pepper bisque was overly-laden with cream...& had no visible crab?? The seafood salad was outstanding though!
MoreExtraordinarily delicious seafood dishes! Generous portions served by very friendly staff! Reasonably priced!
MoreThe service and food were amazing. This place came highly recommended by a co-worker and I am so glad I took her advice
MoreFood was very fresh and brought quickly to the table. Calamari appetizer was a large portion. Entrees was extremely tasty but the special of shrimp and scallops pasta could have had less pasta. Service was very attentive and pleasant. Will return if in the area.
MoreMy wife and I went to Tin Fish tonight for dinner. My wife had shrimp and black soup, I had 3 oysters on the half shell and we both had swordfish on creole style rice. The food and service were excellent. We cant wait to go back again.
MoreAwesome food! We got oysters rockefeller for an app, blackened scallops and yellowfin tuna for entrees. Everything was truly wonderful. Service was great, no rush to take our order or take our plates and brought the check at the right time. Also they had hopslam on tap which really made my day. A win for the Tin!
MoreExcellent service and food! It’s truly hard to find even decent service anywhere these says, but our server was wonderful! He really knew the menu and made great recommendations. He was friendly but not intrusive. Very professional. The food was delicious from the drinks to the starter salads, main course and dessert. I’m usually disappointed by salads in restaurants, but not here! The main course was hot, cooked perfectly, and bursting with flavor. We got the creme brûlée for dessert and were not disappointed! We were very happy with our experience there!
MoreFood was we excellent. Not just preparation and presentation, but the flavor of the seafood was intense the way only fresh products can. Prices were not unreasonable especially given the level of service and food quality. We will be coming back here soon, it was well worth it.
MoreService was good until the long wait for the entree. Food was mediocre at best. 1st visit ABS never went due to poor reviews in the past. Thought wed give it a try and was not pleased with the quality of the food. Surf and turf, was lacking seasoning, and the steak was weak. Swordfish was good but not prepared as mentioned with the garlic char it too lacked flavor.
MoreOne of my favorite places to eat. The fish is usually very delicious with great sides. The presentationof food is also gorgeous. The chefs during the day, however, are definitely better than in the evening. A nice casual atmosphere with very good serving staff that are very professional.
MoreAlways fresh and delicious food can be had at Tin Fish. Although the Blue Cheese Chips arent on the menu the chef is more than happy to make it for you. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous.
MoreFood was amazing, service out of this world. Server made great recommendations. I cannot complain about anything!
MoreOutstanding. The Sea Bass was delectable. As good as anything you would get downtown or on the coast. It was done to perfection. The surf and turf was a great bargain. The ribeyemelted in my mouth and was enough for lunch the next day. Service was outstanding as was the wine recommendation.
MoreGreat food, great serviceOrdered the blue crab stuffed lobster
Food is awesome. VERY fresh seafood! Huge shrimp cocktail and the Chilean Sea Bass melts in your mouth. I have never had a bad meal here everything is always fresh and delicious. Very knowledgeable wait staff that will help you pair wines as well. Ask for Robert hes awesome. Always spot on.If this review was helpful please give it a like. :-)
MoreMy boyfriend and I love to go here to treat ourselves to a night out. We are both in the service industry and this is our favorite place to dine in the area. The food is always amazing as is the service. Tonight we had Robert as our server, and he was great. He had an exceptional knowledge of wine and genuinely cared about our dining experience. We have a unique style of dining and like to take our time when we go out and Robert catered to that perfectly. We will continue to treat ourselves to Tin Fish.
MoreThe initial feeling when we first walked in was truly cold and unwelcoming, the hostesses were far from welcoming. Our waitress did a great job describing the dishes and offering recommendations. The mussels were awesome, we had two orders. My husband loved the seafood stew, for me it lacked salt. My scallops were cooked prefect and their mashed potatoes were good. Our waitress slowly warmed up to us. She offered us coffee and remembered my husband mentioning it was his birthday and brought him out a complimentary dessert, creme brulé, which was amazing. Im big on service and being made to feel welcome, that was definitely lacking. It was obvious that the regulars were treated with much more enthusiasm and warmth, as witnessed of a another patron who came in to enjoy a nice bottle of white wine at the bar. Please consider extending that warmth to everyone who walks into your establishment. Will I return? Absolutely, and Ill share my next review and experience and determine if I would return a 3rd time.
MoreGreat oysters! Shrimp are huge! Great martinis and awesome bartender!
I have had great experiences here before, our table of 6 enjoyed the meal overall. The ice cream pie used to be great but the new version did not wow anyone. 5/6 enjoyed the entree they ordered.
MoreThe food was okay and service was decent. But I have had much better seafood and my husband felt the same way. I would not recommend ordering the smashed potatoes as a side dish as they were way too crispy.
MoreWe first visited Tin Fish on our 1st wedding Anniversary and the day before we had our first child, October 18th, 2009.We visited this time on our 10th Anniversary.I had a phenomenal lunch. Blacken shrimp and scallops. Damn it was amazing. My mom in law was very pleased with her meal. My husbands beef tenderloin salad was delectable.Good as any place in Chicago.
MoreWe went to Tin Fish to enjoy a reunion of old friends, choosing this restaurant because one of us is severely limited in the diet that can be tolerated due to health issues. We also chose this establishment due to its commitment to serving fresh and daily flown-in fish.We were not disappointed. Our server, Ryan, was intimately knowledgeable about all preparations and options on the menu. He guided us expertly through the menu and preparations, and our friend with a strict dietary regimen was able to choose a safe and delicious meal.I cannot begin to express my gratitude and appreciation for the care Ryan showed us, and his knowledge and professionalism. This restaurant is a gem in the Tinley Park itinerary, and I cannot recommend highly enough.
MoreMy sisters and I were going to a concert nearby and had the best dining experience here! Our waitress was fantastic and the rest of the staff was speedy and attentive. On top of that the food was so good we are most definitely going back!
MoreI had the Chilean sea bass special and it was amazing. The waitress was very helpful and helped us pair a wine with dinner and made great recommendations. For an appetizer we had the scallops. I would definitely go back if Im in the area.
MoreShowed up at 545 on a sat evening. NO WAIT BECAUSE I HAD RESERVATIONS. Ordered crab legs and scallops both meals were superb. Service was grand and then we had dessert which the waiter suggested the drinks which was also delicious with chocolate cake. Overall this dining experience was something I will be using as a template for all dining needs.
MoreI have been meaning to stop by this restaurant sometime ago. I finally got around to it today, and I am glad i did. The restaurant serves mostly seafood and some steak options. I tried the whitefish with cornmeal breading and it was delicious, my girl had the blackened catfish with creole rice that meal was soooooooo good I ate all my food and half of hers. The fish is so FRESH! This is a nice place to take a date the wait staff is awesome and professional. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
MoreThe food was really hood. I had Shi tuns, seared. It could have had a little more seasoning, but it was good. The rice pilaf had very little pilaf and was overcooked 😯. My guy had butterfly shrimp. They were huge! The place is not fancy, casual atmosphere. Thought it would be..... was not. Not cheap . . limited menu. But the good was good. Beautiful server, Amanda took very good care.
MoreFirst time going and it was a decent experience i now checked off one of my to do list thanks to them which was to try Halibut Fish..it was ok kinda bland mixed with the corn they served gave it a better taste...will i eat it again probably not overall the restaurant was nice its good for a casual outing or an intimate dinner. Either way the staff was friendly and atmosphere was good.
MoreCasual place with **really** good, fresh fish. I had blackened tuna with anduille sausage sauce. It was so good. Fish was sushi grade. Also, yummy desserts. We had the pineapple bourbon bread pudding and the pecan pie. Both scrumptious. Service was good, too. Our waiter really knew the menu and how things were cooked.
MoreIt has nice atmosphere, the staff is friendly, our food was very tasty, but I felt way overpriced. I had scallops and shrimp for 16.99 and the scallops were the size of a quarter and there was three on the plate. I can get 12 scallops at Aldis for 9.99. The shrimp were small to medium and three of those also. The presentation was nice but I would not order it again. I have eaten there in the past and was much more impressed, the menu has shrunk and most of everything co rained some type of meat even in the sides. Not sure if I would go back.
MoreNice place with good food. I met a friend here for a late lunch at 1:30pm. It was pretty empty at that time. Service was fine. We both got the blackened red fish off the lunch menu. I really enjoyed mine. My friend prefers his blackened seafood dishes to have a little more punch or kick than this dish offered. If you’re in the area and want to try something local this is a really good option. Nice decor and the place was clean. I would choose this restaurant again over any of the other chain restaurants in this immediate vicinity.
MoreWell folks, not a place to take young children. This is a casual; but yet quality dinning experience. I would have to say they are on the moderate to high priced menu. The dinning area is small not for large groups. My compliments to the chef, the food was very fresh and extremely well cooked and the presentation was beautiful. Will I come back Yes; but it will be for Date night!!
MoreThe decor was attractive. The oysters and rock crab claws were fresh and very tasty. The fish choices were plentiful and our tuna and Alaskan halibut were delicious.
MoreTasted like they were cooking fish for people who dont really like fish. Seafood was buried under other ingredients. Food was underseasoned.
MoreThis place is a treat. I generally do not care for seafood, but I do like this place very much. I enjoy what I order, usually shrimp and fries. The atmosphere is very warm and comfortable, and the service has always been good to me and my group. Its a bit pricey. Ive been there 2 or 3 times, and I will keep going.
MoreGood food I got the surf and turf rib eye steak and lobster meat was only ok lobster alright. My wife had one of there mothers day specials she said it was great. Service was good. The food was a little pricey. If you go stick to the seafood you might have a more enjoyable time.
MoreI went here yesterday for my high school graduation dinner and was very impressed. Our waitress was very nice and the food was perfect. The kitchen sent out a free dessert that was pretty much a work of art. I somehow managed to make room for the dessert and it was also amazing, of course! Perfect for special occasions. Would definitely recommend!
