Tim's Surf & Turf in Darwin

It is like going to your local pub but with better food. Great little pet croc for the kids and Tim despite being busy made the time to do some magic tricks which my son absolutely loved. Plus kids eat free before 6:30 Mon-Thurs and unlike other places I have been the kids steak and chips were great.

3.5 Stars… Really lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. 2 dinners order one Barramundi was exceptional the other calamari very average. Salt pepper means a coating but when all you can taste is thick batter not so good . Shame too because after taking the time to peel off layers of batter calamari was lovely as you would hope up here where we assume fresh seafood.. very disappointed

What a great place! It has it all, great atmosphere, food and service at reasonable prices. But really appreciated Tom, the magician who went table to table... Ive never experienced that before and it was really fun. Kudos to whoever came up with that idea.

We visited twice during our stay in Darwin. Great location, great food for adults and kids, service was great. It’s a busy restaurant, however still very personable. Manager / owner did a couple of magic tricks that had the kids intrigued and laughing all night ! Highly recommend, good value for money for a family of 4, husband says it’s one of the best steaks he has had, seafood plate was fresh, tasty and generous servings!

It was good. I ordered 5 starters for my dinner for the variety. Turkish bread (the oil/vinegar dip probably could have used more herbs), Oysters Kilpatrick (really yummy), Garlic Prawns (thought the garlic sauce could have used a bit more salt but no salt/pepper shakers available on the tables), Crocodile Spring Rolls (these were amazing! The sweet chili sauce that came with them really complimented as well), Calamari (kind of ok). Overall I enjoyed my dinner. It was a great atmosphere and filled up very quick.

This is the BEST steak I have ever had. I had the wagyu eye fillet surf and turf when we came up in April. Here again in September and again THE BEST! So tender- plump prawns and beautiful garlic sauce

Rarely do reviews. Last night we went to Tims with two kids. You pay up front. The waitress served our wagyu to another customer who had paid lasagne. They ate our meals and left. Then the kitchen didnt realise and we waited for another hour before complaining. We were then served our meals. And they offered the kids free dessert. The food was fantastic. Their response to the mishap was pretty positive. So despite the issue I would still recommend eating here. Great food, fun environment and cold beer. Prices are good for such high quality beef.

I love this place! Amazing food and the fantastic service make Tim’s such an entertaining choice for dinner. I’ve been there as a solo diner and as part of a large group and it’s always been rewarding.If you’re lucky enough you may even see some magic from Tim himself during your dinner session👏🏼🎩

It opens 5.30 pm until ,8.30 pm. Get there early. No bookings its first come, first served and its very popular. Great food.

Steak was cooked very nicely, and was tasty. Unfortunately it took over an hour to get to our table. Other tables around ours had the same experience. It was busy for sure, but "having customers" isnt an excuse for bad service. They had a guy walking around doing magic tricks, but thats less cool when youre starving.

Absolutely amazing place for dinner. Great ambience. An experience we wont forget. Food was beautiful and quick. We will definitely go again!

The best steak! I never really liked steak but wow that steak was magical. The place itself is beautiful and Tim is such an amazing man. So grateful for my experience there❤️

Excellent grilled barramundi and perfectly cooked rump steak, best that I have had in Darwin. Entrees were great as well. Great atmosphere and the staff made us feel welcome.

It was my mothers birthday and her first time visiting the restaurant. Tho we had a late dinner, we were lucky enough to watch Tims signature surprises.Remembering how fascinated and excited my mother was, I am truly appreciated.At the end, we got recommended a delicate rum that went really well with the mud cake. Sadly I forgot the name.Sincerely thank you to Tims Surf and Turf members for making it a wonderful night for our young lady.

I own a venue so i am very fussy and critical when visiting others. As a result I rarely leave a review. However, I came to Tim’s last night and was so impressed with staff, food, vibe and service I came back tonight. The place was even better tonight. I’m now returning tomorrow with 10 friends. Watching these guys turn out amazing food to a busy restaurant in such a smoothe relaxed style is pretty special. Food 5 stars, atmosphere 5 stars, service 5 stars. Steak 10 stars.

Brilliant restaurantYes the reviews for this place are dead accurate.Steak Wagyu first class and cooked EXACTLY as my rather fussy partner asked for. My Barramundi was probably the best Barra Ive ever had - a decent piece, not over cooked with vegies and salad no potatoes as requested.We are very fussy diners and were 100% satisfied. Worth another visit before we leave Darwin.

Wow what an incredible restaurant! The T-bone steak was one of the best I have had, and the owner Tim was an absolute gentleman, it was definitely a great way to kick off our holi6in Darwin.It will be hard to beat!

Great Food, great vibe, great customer service! We really enjoyed the open-air dinning so cool on a balmy night!I called to book a table just prior opening hours, and the owner Tim said he’d find us a table. When we arrived a young maître d welcomed with a smile and ushered us to a table, and disclosed they were understaffed and there was a large group of diners arriving soon so if we ordered before the group arrived we would be served more quickly. So we did, and our delicious dishes came out asap!We were very impressed with her high-level of professionalism - she made us feel valued customers!My barramundi was perfectly cooked and the side of potatoes and salad added extra zing!My partner’s charred grilled steak look enormous portion and she said it tasted Devine, especially with the creamy mushroom gravy! We enjoyed the drinks they were icy cold just the thing we needed after our hot day trekking about Darwin! Highly recommended!!!

Toughest steak ever. Good setting and an excellent ordering system where you fill in a sheet of paper of what you are ordering but the Wagyu steak tough and not good. The side of potatoes good and best of all was a young happy waitress who was so cheerful coming around and collecting plates.The steak was just so tough and not even the serrated knife could cut it but the ambience of the place good.

Last time I sat and ate dinner with the ever entertaining Tim was in 1995 - location has changed but everything else is still the same. Great food, great value and if your lucky the magic will happen. Tim, great to see you again and look forward to catching up again.

Steaks cooked to perfection! The steaks had fantastic marbling and everything was very tasty. Try to come early as this place gets busy. If you arrive during the rush, make sure to order an entree as it will be a bit (over an hour for usto get your mains. The atmosphere is very fun and authentic, bar is serving great drinks so bring your patience if youre there during a dinner rush and enjoy!

Food is great. Never had fresher oysters if you are a fan. Very busy so you will have fair wait for the main course but worth the wait

Tim’s is our number one restaurant in Darwin, after 15 months of FIFO our group of five would eat at Tim’s at least twice a week. Tim’s steaks are amazing, his rib eye just melts in your mouth even well done. If you want five star table service then Tim’s isn’t your place, if you want amazing food as family friendly prices and good service then Tim’s is the right place. The only downside is you need to get in early now to many people knows it’s great food it’s packed now early.

Food was great! The Porterhouse steak in Australia is not the Porterhouse of the U.S. It is quite a bit smaller but it was cooked to perfection and seasoned right. The style and operation of the restaurant is a totally different experience than the U.S. as you pay before you eat and fill out a menu card before you go to the register. If you want to order another drink or beer you have to walk to the bar to order, there are no waiters. The place was super clean and nicely arranged with lots of outside seating. Would recommend highly to anyone

When you walk into a tiki-styled restaurant in Darwin and the staff tell you that "this is the best steak you will have in your whole life", you could be forgiven for being a little sceptical (as was I), but oh my dear lord... it is hard to say "this is the best ever" about anything, but the steaks were absolutely incredible. I have eaten (a lot ofsteak in South Africa, Texas, France, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, all the places that pride themselves on their beef being the best... this was at least as good as any steak I have ever eaten. Amazing. Seared beautifully, tender like butter, juicy like it had been injected, delicious and tasty like it had been marinated for days. I could eat there every night and always feel like it was worth it. Will be back, with everyone I know!

Must try : Wagyu Steak with mushroom sauce and Seafood Basket.Both of these main are the best highlights here. the Wagyu meat is cooked perfectly, tender and so yummy. The seafood is fresh and very appetizing. Dont forget to order the cheesy garlic bread as an entree as well. Service always great and Tim is so friendly. Always proud to support the local business who is giving their all.

Came to Tims on recommendations from family members that have visited previously, and we were both very happy with the way we were greeted by Tim (like we were old friends!and our meals were sensational! I had rump steak and my wife had barramundi Attention from all the staff was excellent, but not over the top, and pricing was very reasonable given the high quality,and he doesnt charge for the humour !

Very strange location, definitely not the vibes of the website. Took a while to be seated but the waitress was lovely. Instead of table service we were handed a piece of paper and a mini golf pencil to mark our food and take it up to the front to pay….Very hit and miss food, my friend ordered the barramundi and albeit flavourless said it was cooked nicely. I myself ordered the Cajun chicken that was described as ‘chicken tenderloins with Cajun spices - beautiful’ and what came out was basically kfc. The flavour was okay, definitely not Cajun and every so often bursts of oil would spurt in my mouth…. It also came with a child’s handful of frozen vegetables. A steak was also ordered and was just full of gristle… extremely underwhelming. I would understand if I miss read the menu and ended up ordering something I didn’t want, but that wasn’t the case.

Best feed we had in Darwin and we had a lot. Not only tgat but a cool atmosphere, setting, really genuinely authentically great staff, really warm and friendly, efficient, responsive. Large meals. My husband had a T-bone it was massive and cooked to perfection as was my scotch fillet. Dad’s seafood was awesome. Best steaks in the world sign on the door is not wrong. So so good, and the staff treated you so well. The young lady as we left thankrd us so much and warmly wished us a beautiful rest of our day and trip. 10/10 must go.

Wonderful steaks, perfectly cooked. We tried a variety of the sauces, which were all delicious, but the steaks are so good that you really dont need them. Tim is a great host, and his place has great atmosphere.

Fun and fantastic.Not fine dining, but mighty fine food. Atmosphere was relaxed and casual. I loved it.Food was great. Steak well cooked for all the table, ranging from medium rare to medium well done. Huge meal. Just come here. Its great!

Tim’s Surf & Turf is back baby! There was a piece of me missing when this place was closed and that piece was a dinner plate sized schnitzel. As always you’re greeted on arrival with a smile and made to feel welcome straight away. The food came out promptly and was delicious, generous and worth every well priced cent. If you haven’t been ever or haven’t been in a while I would definitely recommend immersing yourself in this little slice of Darwin and enjoy a wonderful meal and beautiful surroundings. Can’t wait to come back again and enjoy a meal sitting outside next to the waterfall.

I highly recommend this place for steak. My rump was cooked to perfection and had me hankering for more. I ordered my meal without potatoes as Im following a keto diet however there are options for veges, salad, chips or potato all included. The host Tim is entertaining and has a warm personality and the wait staff are fantastic and really look after you. Id try to go early if you can as it can get quite busy. I arrived at 5:30pm and by 6pm the crowds started to pour in. Lovely setting both indoors and out. Great for groups or individuals.

I have been in Darwin for almost six years and hadnt been in yet.Decided to take the wife out as she loves seafood. Both entrees and mains come out quick, and the service was fast and straightforward. Love it!Definitely will be back!

Again in Darwin when you go in you feel like family from the get go. Great atmosphere with an opportunity to try Australian fare. The Crocodile is the crumbed morsels pictured and if you want to try it for the first time I recommend Tims as its very safe. It tastes like chicken that lived in salty/fresh water, delicious. Had a great time and we both said we are coming back when we are in Darwin again. Thank you to Tim and the staff for making the evening a real experience.

5 stars for great dining experience and ambience. This place offer exotic foods like crocodile meat for more adventurous diners.Dont worry, non exotic food available as well for more faint hearted person like myself. I went with their fish meal and it was pretty good.Location wise is ok, within walking distance with Mitchell street busier part.And watch out for the I am learning and keep failing at it magic guy.
