The height of the structures is impressive, the highest of the Mayan culture. I recommend the sunrise tour, you get to watch the sun come up from temple IV and listen to all the jungle wake up. Also, the temperature is better in the morning, from 11am it gets too hot and humid.

Beautiful national park. Recommend going with a guide since there are no signs with history facts or explanations. Being a rain jacket, snacks and water. Plenty of restrooms all around the park. Animals were around end of September.

Breathtaking place, really loved it and I am glad that we visited this site with a very knowledgeable guide. I learned a lot, admired the flora, fauna and of course the ancient city itself.

Is an experience you need to pass and go with a cool guide like Cesar, the nature, animals and structures shows the intellectual capacity of the Maya tribes to overcome adversities and conquer sites. Honestly you wont regret it.Tip: hotel Isla de Flores is a great place, take a shuttle to tikal and then go back and refresh in a awesome shower, take a nap and go out on Isla the Flores for a nice set of tacos or any other food.

Worth the visit every penny. Please be sure to pay beforehand for the entry to the park at any Banrural bank. Plastic bottles are not allowed in the park. You can make really good walks here. The view form a top Temple IV is magical. Theres no phone signal in the place . It adds to the magic

Nice national park. So you can either buy the ticket directly there ( take you passportor on Isla de Flores. Its a 1.5/2 hours ride from Flores.I would recommend to go early morning because of the heat and also its less crowded.Really interesting and mystical place.

About a 2 hour drive from Flores and Q150 entrance fee for foreigners to be paid by local currency in cash. There are no atms there. The ruins are breathtaking and definitely worth seeing.

(26.05.2022Nice archeological site, higher ticket price (Q150 / personbut worth it! We recommend arriving as early as possible. Basically, there are nice people there, the traders do not impose anything. The pyramids are not guarded in any way and people can climb them without being checked (which we dont like at all!). There is an option to go for sunrise or sunset (Q100 extra), the guide is mandatory (not included in the priceand a private shuttle necessary, because the public bus does not run so early in the morning or late in the evening.P.S.: Be careful during the rain, because the roads become very muddy and slippery.

You can go there whenever you want and get a general tour. The tour guides can guide you properly based on how much time you have. Its just a far better experience than walking aimlessly on your own. If you have time (which I did notI think it would be best to do the "event" tours. Sunrise/sunset, to get the maximum experience.

Best Mayan archeological site of Guatemala. The ruins are very big and fascinating, among the jungle. You can also see some monkey and colorful birds. You have to pay in cash the entrance fee and take with you a personal document to show. Its strictly forbidden to feed the wild animals!!

This place is amazing! Better to hire a guide because this place is huge. You might get lost even if there is plenty of signs. Public transport is 100 Q and private cost around 150 Q. If you need a number for private contact me.

First, i really dont like the tour business in town and that they overcharge anybody who doesnt ask for a better price 10 times..Booked a tour via a travel agency as the public bus seemed to be more expensive, leaving at 4:30 in flores and returning at 14:30. The bus ride is ~2 hours.I paid 80 quetzales for the bus both ways and 40 for the guide.Nevertheless had a great guide who really showed us the wildlife (3 types of tucan, parrot, coati, many more birds!and explained a lot about the arqueological site in great english! It is a mystical place indeed so if you can, plan to stay for a whole day at least or over night in a tent!!!

If you have not visited Tikal, I recommend you do it. Tikal is majestic, out of this world, there is so much history, you will walk through a jungle where you will find such tall impresive temples built by the mayas. There are clean bathrooms and drinks inside the park.

Different prices for tourists vs nationals. 150Q for tourists. You buy tickets at gate, from gate to park parking lot is about 20 minutes or so. We did not get to explore much, just the main temples because the park is huge and we took our 4 children. Definitely takes about 3 days of exploring to really see and enjoy everything. There are plenty wildlife, its the jungle so makes sense. We saw and heard howler monkeys, spider monkeys, spiders, sompopo ants, different birds, nasua and peacocks roaming around. There is a museum we unfortunately didnt get to see and gift shops. We went in beginning of June and it was pretty warm and some humidity. We had just been to Rio Dulce and the humidity was uncomparable. Rio Dulce was significantly more humid. Our guide Cecilia was absolutely wonderful and patient. I did however overhear some of the other guides being quite rude to tourists, hurrying them or rushing them hardly allowing them to take sips of water. Cecilia was neither inpatient nor unpleasant. There is a restaurant by parking lot and also 2 lodges that do not have a/c due to being inside the national park property. There is a restaurant at the gate as well, a bit overpriced. Unable to find it on Google maps however.

Absolutely beautiful Mayan ruins. 150 quetzales for foreign tourists, which is so much more expensive than for Guatemalans, but it is fair and it is worth it. I appreciated that. Help is very friendly everywhere.I was with family who knew how to get around, otherwise Id strongly recommend a tour because Tikal is huge and it is easy to get lost. Be ready to climb, but many have stairs now for safety reasons. It still is challenging if you arent really fit, but worth it.

Amazing experience!! Visited in early June and it was so, so, hot. Bring water, great walking shoes, and cool/light clothing. We had about 3 hours and it was just enough time for us to fully explore the Gran Plaza. Next time will be a full day or more!

An absolute must visit even if youre only remotely interested in Mayan history & archeology. We booked the sunrise tour (incl park ticket, 250Q ppand the obligatory guide (15USD ppand it was well worth it. The feeling of climbing temple IV and seeing the sun rise over the jungle with the sound of howlermonkeys is something well never forget. The sunrise tour combined with our own visit to some other temples took us 5 hours in total.

We did a day trip mid-May with MayaWalk Tours from San Ignacio to Tikal Mayan Ruin/National Park in Guatemala. Guatemala recently lifted their COVID19 restrictions. It was well worth the trip visiting this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tikal is known for its massive pyramid temples, monumental plazas, palaces and stelae. The national park also had lots of wild life like coatis. This National Park is spectacular and we were glad that we can climb several of the magnificent temples.I really wanted to visit Tikal Mayan Ruin in Guatemala while we were in San Ignacio, Belize since the border crossing was only 7 miles away. Although we have a rental car for a week, we decided to go with a tour agency and so glad we did since it was stress-free and we had a tour guide to learn about Guatemala and Tikal. We lucked out that we were the only couple and had a private tour. Thanks to MayaWalk Tours for making our trip stress free and memorable!

What an amazing experience. To walk on the same ground as ancient Kings and Queens, just incredible. I highly recommend commissioning a guide. Hector, our guide was able to paint an amazing picture of Mayan life and brought the ruins to life. He was able to ensure we saw everything we wanted to see and most of all ensured we didnt get lost. Worth every penny! Bring hiking shoes and a water source. They do have several places to buy water but I wouldnt take any chances. A once in a lifetime experience and Im glad they we made the trek here.

Commercialised tourist machinery in the worst possible way. Staff is unfriendly, if not hostile. Some rules are only designed to rip off the guests, like, e.g., you can only enter with your 100 GTQ sunset ticket if you also hire a guide (he asked 350 GTQ extra!). Temples can only be climed on extra wooden stairs which does not give an authentic experience of the site or any building. A real annoyance. Limit your visit to half a day or just for sunset (that is the highlight). Pictures shows our rip-off guide. I visited 2 other Mayan Sites, both were more authentic, pleasant and impressive.

You have to have a ticket to get into the gate to get close to the park, then you also have to have a ticket to go into the park, then if you want a sunrise or sunset tour you have to get separate tickets for each of those, and all the tickets are only good for one day.I went in December and it was really hot and really humid. Also, if you go on a sunset or sunrise tour you should know you have about a 50% chance of not seeing a sunset or sunrise because of the fog.It is very beautiful and interesting to see so I do suggest going if you are considering it.

This is one of the most beautiful and magical places we have ever been. The history is amazing and the ruins themselves are jaw droppingly spectacular. This will take a day if you want to see everything. A guide is also very helpful. Not for getting around but learning about the history. There is so much to know. There is tons of wildlife to see as well. There is a resturant before you get to the first ruins, which I highly recommend. It served the best food I have had in Guatemala. Sun screen and bug spray are highly recommended. You will not regret this visit.

One of the largest Mayan archeological sites, not only in Guatemala, but at all. New scientific discoveries suggest that it may have even been a lot larger than already proved. Considering how big it was, only a small part of the buildings have been reconstructed but still there are many, many things to see. You should plan to spend several hours here and it certainly is worth the time. For some of the larger structures, they have build wooden staircases which not only makes it possible, to go up there, but it also makes it very easy to do so. And the view across the surrounding forrest with the tops of other temples peeking out of it is certainly worth seeing.

Tikal is a very well conserved place. Its cleaned, the animals are cared for, and people around are nice. The bathrooms might not be so clean though. I recommend going to Tikal during summer in Guatemala because in that time the animals go close to the park more often. Also, bring comfortable shoes because youre going to walk a lot. Tikal is rainy so try to bring proper clothes for the rain. In reception you can also buy things for the rain. I would also recommend asking for a guide in case you would like to know more about the history and have a more structured visit.
