Tiffin Tea House - Tea room in Clevedon, United Kingdom
Lovely meal and superb service. Many thanks to all staff.
George who works here is such a credit to this cafe … polite, efficient and on the ball .. so lovely to see a young person doing a great job 😃
Nice and imaginative food in a lovely seafront location.Young and relatively inexperienced staff when we were there. They hadnt yet learned to keep an eye on all their tables so we did have to struggle to get their attention, though they were lovely once theyd noticed.
A lovely day to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Great tea selection and very polite serving staff.
What a fantastic location and good tea selection. The positives end there.Staff are young with no common sense being whipped into shape by a bloke whos running round cleaning tables giving directions and at the same time making sandwiches.Theres one toilet. Fairly sure thats illegal. A massive queue for it, and an interesting board outside it to read, all about there pride of using local suppliers and produce....Id be interested to know who some of their suppliers are. Local bakeries? I think not.It was all a bit meh. It could be wonderful. If you like Aldi bread sandwiches, with processed chicken, pre made egg mayo and bagged salad, then youll love it.Perhaps just serve tea. You have good tea.
Good food. Had a nice brie sandwich. The scone was great...What was odd was the scone and tea was two scones with only one cup of tea... Whys it not tea for two with two scones... Bit annoying ...
A great place for lunch. Sat outside looking out over the pier lovely setting . The Meal was very enjoyable . Will definitely be back.
Went mid Oct 2022, Sunday morning, sea was in, sun shining. Sat outdoors overlooking the shore. Great vibe and atmosphere and very busy with lots of people sat outside. We ordered salmon and eggs and Earl Grey. Very clean, very good food, large portions and great service from all the staff.
We had a lovely lunch at Tiffin at the beach. Staff were very friendly and location has an awesome sea view. The cakes were amazing and definitely a must when visiting.
Lovely food and very polite staff. They were also very knowledgable on dietary restrictions on the menu.
Lovely food. A bit expensive and not many cheap options. Service outstanding.
Very busy and we were warned it might take a few minutes, but service was actually quick and very friendly. Coffee expensive and on a scale of 1 to 10 Id say 8, but try it, its good.
Fabulous tea shop. Excellent teas and wonderful homemade cakes available. A real gem!
We diverted to Tiffin at the Beach on the way home from a camping trip. Wed decided on one last cream tea before the end of the summer and we were not disappointed. Excellent cream tea and a very generous pot of proper builders tea. Will certainly return again
Nice food and friendly service. A little pricey but made up for by the views.
Synopsis-Walked away incredibly disappointed and angry.Act 1 -The quality of Tiffin has gone down significantly, however the prices have stayed the same.Sandwich prices at £6/£7 - however club Sandwich was £12 which we ordered. I asked why it was more, and the waiter (who was friendly and helpfulsuggested that it was likely because it had more fillings; egg mayo, bacon, chicken and salad. Understandable I thought, expecting it to be of high quality on sourdough or something of the like, and well filled.Act 2-The food arrived, and the waitress left before I could ask for salt/pepper/mayo.I had time to inspect the sandwich. For £12, I was expecting something pretty decent, but that thought was quickly dismissed.Negatives - 3 pieces of un-toasted white bread, tiny pieces of chicken, the poxiest amount of egg mayo youve ever seen, not even reaching to the edges, no mayo (apart from with the small amount of egg), butter, or seasoning.Positives - OK bread, bacon was cooked pretty well, crisp lettuce and tomato. We caught the eye of the waitress, we asked for salt/pepper/mayo.I add salt/pepper/ mayo to the sandwich, and its a good thing they had the foresight to buy Heinz mayo with its distinctive flavour and thick consistency, as that is the thing that saved the sandwich from one; keeping the tiny dry pieces of chicken inside the confines of the sandwich, and two; making it taste of anything besides regret and anguish.I was in question whether or not to send it back, but I was starving, and couldnt catch the attention of any of the wait staff.I forced the sandwich down like a bush tucker trial, (a slight hyperbole, it was probably a 3/10and was going to give some constructive criticism. I had eaten the food, so I thought it was fair that I pay for it.Act 3 -My partner went inside to change our baby, and I waited for our plates to be cleared. When the waitress appeared, I expected the usual platitudes of "was everything ok for you? Would you like anything else? Can I get you the bill?" Etc.Nah, That was too much. She grabbed the plate - and before I could speak - turned to leave. I hadnt been prompted, so I said; "that was awful, by the way."She shrugged, and made a face like Robert De Niro, whilst walking away.I followed up with; "is that it, is it?"More shrugging and De Niro impressions ensued.I then had to shout across the patio; "Id like to speak to your manager then please."I was aggravated by the rudeness of this waitress, so I sipped my tea and waited for the manager to appear. The bills fate had been sealed, I was no longer paying for it.Act 4 -My partner decides not to change the baby. There is feces smeared over the baby changer, and there are no other children around, how long had this been like that? She then overhears the waitress come in to the café, and address the staff, and subsequently all the other patrons; "TABLE 24 SAYS THE FOOD IS AWFUL."The other members of staff cannot tell if she is being sarcastic, and keep asking her if shes being serious, as the sandwich had been consumed. The waitress then goes and sits with another waitress and is conversing about us. My partner leaves the bathroom, and says "Im table 24, let me explain."Act 5 -The manager comes to the table. Throughout the entire situation, she is friendly, apologetic, and understanding. She opens with; "Ive just spoken to your partner inside, and weve taken the sandwich off of the bill for you."I inform her that I will not be paying for any of the bill, and proceed to tell her about the food quality and rudeness of a select member of staff, and that I had planned to pay for the food, as we had eaten it, before the waitress decided to go all "Taxi Driver" on me.She was incredibly apologetic, said not to worry that the food was on them, and that they seriously hoped that we would return again, as not all the members of staff are like that and they have a good team.Unlikely, well just go to 5 The Beach instead.1/5
The gluten free cake and bread I had was very good. The gf lemon bon bon cake was delicious and the gf bread with scrambled egg was of good quality
A welcome stop when visiting Clevedon.Very good value and excellent service. Will happily be visiting again.
Tiffen is a really lovely place to dine in. We had such a warm welcome from the lovely staff. We were seated at the window with a gorgeous view of the sea front in beautiful Clevedon. The food was gorgeous with generous portions and good strong tea. I We were visiting from Ireland and lovely places like Tiffen are now among many happy memories of a fabulous holiday in Somerset. Highly recommended.
Terrible breakfast at Tiffin today. I ordered the smoked salmon and scrambled egg, quote pricy at £9.70 but I thought I would try it. Latte was pricy at £3.60 and took ages to arrive. When the breakfast finally arrived 20 minutes later looked really lovely until I started eating it. The scrambled egg was full of egg shell, nearly every other bite there was egg shell I must have eaten the equivalent of a whole egg. The waitress looked very embarrassed when I told her. Gave me the food for free but still charged me for the coffe which was average tasting. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK THERE AGAIN!
Had a excellent cream tea this afternoon the scones were freshly baked and warm
I was there this morning and the service wasn’t great. We were waiting for half an hour just for a coffee and a juice..then we were waiting for over an hour until we got served food.. while other people that arrived after us were served first..the staff is friendly but very slow service and not being able to prioritize the people that arrives there first, food is ok, not the best..
Ive just read a couple of the negative reviews, and I hope they took up their complaints with the owner/manager, rather than walking away, and posting on here!Anyway - my husband and I were here on sunday, and I ordered eggs benedict, and it was by far one of the best that I have tasted! Eggs lovely, tasty ham and sauce! So, dont be put off by the moaners, and walk by - make your own mind up! Any number of things could have happened to prompt the things that go wrong, not everyone is out to get you!!
Absolutely awful. I took my daughter for a cream tea as she wasnt feeling good. Scones were so dry. The place was so grubby..ran my hand along the wooden side and it was black. Dirt all around skirting boards. Cream teas did not arrive together. Saw a staff member put my daughters cream tea on the counter and another member if staff started touching the scene...took it off the counter and covered it in icing sugar. Will never go to Tiffins again.
Lovely fresh food, great service and good views. Would definitely visit again if were in the area.
Nice place on Clevedon front. Pleasant staff, decent menu, takeaway service, inside and outside tables, some with brolly shade. Dogs ok
Delicious bacon and brie baps....😋Staff friendly and professional 👌Nice feeling to the place and overlooking Clevedon Pier.....
Called in for brunch while on an impromptu weekend away with a lady friend. Lovely, quaint place in a great setting. Brilliant, helpful and friendly staff. Excellent service and great food.
Two lovely cups of coffee. Tea cake with a choice of three jams ... from a jar ! Friendly and helpful staff. Very enjoyable. The sun was also shining ☺
Who serves crisps with a bap? Im sure the menu said chips when I ordered. The horror when I got tortilla chips on the side of my plate. This is a crime. Frankly ruined my day at the beach.
Looking forward to breakfast after 2 hour journey. Very disappointed poached eggs tasteless witch I did not ask for. Sausage & bacon I think they were vegetarian!! ££££ Mushrooms & tomatoes ok cup of tea was the best thing. Went to another cafe and had a real Fry UP would not recommend the breakfast £9 odd
Really enjoyable lunch after a long walk down the coast from Portishead. Huge selection of teas and plenty of amazing looking cakes.Very busy at midday but managed to nab a table swiftly and the serving team were excellent and very helpful.
Nice place for a coffee with great views over the Bristol Channel. Bacon rolls are very good.
Cant recommend. Popped in for a spot of lunch. We received our drinks but no sign of our food. At least 4 other tables who arrived after us got their food first. We had obviously been forgotten about so we paid for the drinks and left. Staff should spend less time talking behind the counter and eating food and actually concentrate on their jobs. The prices also seem extremely expensive at £7-8 for a sandwich and crisps. Try elsewhere.
Popped in for a quick coffee before viewing a flat. My daughter enjoyed a toasted teacake and I had gluten free toast (fab breadand marmalade. Very friendly staff. Lovely surroundings and a great sea view.
Prices are extortionate. I had a (300ml?glass of what was definitely cheap orange juice from concentrate and my boyfriend had a glass of apple juice that was strange tasting - £3.50 each glass! The food was pretty good, but again, didnt warrant the price at all.The waitresses were all really friendly, although no one ever came to see if we wanted the bill so had go up and ask.Dont think Id go back again unless prices are lowered. For £26.50 Id be expecting a 10/10 breakfast!
Tried some breakfast at this place on Sunday 8/8/2021 nice place its clean and friendly staff, but that for me is where it stops. Prices at this place are through the roof. What I wanted was not on the menu, I wanted poached egg on toast, and my wife had a english breakfast, and two americano coffees, when the food came it looked ok mine was one piece of toast i was expecting (two pieces of toastand two poached eggs, my egg on toast was cold and the eggs were mostly hard, my wife said her breakfast was ok nothing special. What got us was the price for our food can you believe £22.60 yes youve read it right £22.60 for a english breakfast, poached eggs on toast and two coffees, where on earth do they get this price from. On the bottom of the bill is (Smiley Faces Happy Placesafter paying this bill Id got nothing to smile about.
Excellent covid safe - excellent food great friendly service - amazing views - outside seating only at the moment but still worth a visit - perfect for sitting and watching the world go by
I felt disappointed in the food. However the stroll along the pier and a great sunset made up for it. If you go stick to fish and chips.
A lovely eatery just down from the Clevedon Pier, the perfect place for a Cream Tea or a spot of lunch! The tables were kept clean and the staff were really lovely and welcoming and also very helpful. The bathroom had no soap in and could have done with a deep clean and a bit of an upgrade as it was dusty in some places and needed a good wipe down. All in all though we really enjoyed our trip to Tiffin.
Great cake unfortunately not great ethically. Lovely styled cafe, with delicious cake. Unfortunately there is no option to drink from normal cups, so disposables are provided. However, the drink cups were not compostable or biodegradable. We therefore wouldnt attend again unless we had our cups with us.
Gorgeous food with Beautiful views. Really couldnt have wished for a better birthday treat!
Fantastic food in a really impressive venue. The cherry parfait with white chocolate rocks was exceptional.
A lovely little restaurant with good food but its best selling point is its location. Its on the pier, looking out over the water and facing west so get an amazing sunset view with your dinner
☕🥪 Lovely little restaurant with great views down the pier.Considering once you have paid to go onto the pier you are a captive audience, the prices are very reasonable. Nice staff too.
Great food, always lovely staff. I’d recommend going on a clear evening as the sunset is incredible! The menu is mostly fish but there are a few non-fish options as well.
Great service, lovely location and superb food. Lovely views along the Pier and across the channel. Parking can be difficult but plenty of spaces along the prom in the evenings.
Finally made it back here almost 2 years after the last time; came on a whim without a reservation and luckily got an outside spot just as the rain cleared and it warmed up.This place is a bit of a locals secret, tucked out of view on the shore end of Clevedon pier; you even need to ring an intercom to get in without needing to pay the pier toll.We haven’t been during the day; up to 5 pm it’s more or less cafe food and afternoon teas etc but after 5 it turns into a delightful Fish Cafe.I eat out a great deal, all over the world but Tiffin on the pier in Clevedon is just such a lovely spot, with really hard working staff and some excellent fish and seafood that I’d put it in my global top ten. But please don’t tell anyone - I might not be able to get in next time.!!
Lovely little place with views of Clevedon pier. Great selection of teas as well as homemade cakes, and a good lunch menu. Staff are great and there are blankets provided for outdoor seating if the weather doesnt play ball!
Lovele place and beautiful view. Deliciouce cake and coffee
