Am Tierpark 125, 10319 Berlin, Germany, Werder
Huge, verdant zoo with daily big cat feedings & weekend elephant bathing, plus petting enclosures.
Tierpark Berlin is one of two zoos in Berlin, Germany. It was founded in 1955 and is located in Friedrichsfelde, on the former grounds of the Friedrichsfelde Palace, which is located within the zoo.
Wonderful experience! Recomend to you all!
Amazing!! Tickets for adults: 17€ and kids under 4 years for free. A-lot pf animals to see and the walk between the woods is really relaxing. Its really big park with many animals to see. Its somehow far from berlin center but its worth it
Amazing place to connect with nature and animals. And its too big that I got lost for a while. You’ve to go a bit early in the morning cause its too big or you won’t see all the animals at the same day.
It is not the typical zoo kind of thing - it is more like a big park. Really green and I think they are improving a lot of stuff.Still animals in captivity - so it will still be a ethical and moral question to go there.
I think its one of the coolest animal park in Berlin. Its pretty big and you can spend good amount of time in walks or rest around. The number of animals are lesser than Berlin Zoo but here you have different areas which compensate for that.Himalayas was my favourite as you get to climb up and get some good walk up hill.Overall its recommended !!
The place offers some relaxed walking around nature with lots of animals to see. You can visit the rabbits area and the petting zoo. Be careful as the animals at the petting zoo are a bit aggressive; especially the goats, and they might kick you, so be careful when you bring small kids.
Beautiful Park with animals. Lots of space between the cages and habitats of the animals. Good for strolling through nature as well as amazing kids with monkeys. Some monkeys went wild after a flock of birds flew over which traumatised the kids a bit, but that made it an unforgettable experience. I will come back here.
Great park, huge and very green, plenty of walking so be prepared, could do with better eating facilities and more seating for when you need to take the weight off your feet.
Our kids enjoyed it. Natural environment, there is a kids play area, washrooms are available, staff is friendly, however there are less animals and it was difficult to spot a single animal in a big cage. But we managed to see most of them.
It was ok, I was hoping to see more, the place is huge and the have enough space to have more diversity of animals but not. That they I dont know where the animals but Id only see birds and bulls. However not a fan of keeping wild animals in captivity. I was invited so I went
This place is amazing. Very large, with large enclosures, and cool animals. The petting zoo is fantastic too. They had a new thing there this time called the Himalaya trail or something. Really nice! :)
First time visiting tier park. Its huge! Be Prepared to walk a lot!Doesnt feel overcrowded like some places are. Its almost like a hidden gem. Plus you see some animals that arent in a regular zoo. Although at the time of our visit they were building wats meat to be the best elephant enclosure in Europe, so Ill be back for that!**If you buy a ticket online for one of the designated times, arrive at that time, you wont get in before. Best to buy the ticket at the entrance**
Beautiful garden in the heart of the city. Best place to cycle
Not much animals to see, but the Flamingo side is really beautiful and the park itself is very nice and time there will pass quickly. Also the splash area is super fun for kids!
Difficult to visit on sunny days. Both people and animals get dehydrated. So not much of a fun if its too hot. But definitely every kid must see such a place at least once in their life.
Probably the most amazing animal park I have seen yet to date. It is the biggest in Europe and you will need a full day if not two to really venture into every corner and see every animal. The enclosures are huge compared to other zoos and the animals seem to be very relaxed and not pacing the fences.I visited during a hotter day (35Cand the Birdshow was cut short in favor of the animals which I admire greatly. If the birds do not want to come out they dont seem to be to forced either. Most placed (except the Himalaya zone due to very steep streetsare also very accessible and you are also allowed to bring your own pet dog.The food stands and restaurants are okay and not crazy expensive.I visited on a sunday and the amount of people is nicely spread out throughout the park. Kids playgrounds were the only thing very packed though. The elephant enclosure was being closed down and rebuild but thanks to the size of the park it did disappoint. All in all a more than pleasant experience and I will definitely visit again.
Amazing!!! Everything looks clean, new and well taken care of!Restaurant Patagonia was great surprise. Also lots of places to buy ice cream throughout the park.It is possible to rent a little trolley for kids. There is an electric train that goes around the park every half an hour.
Huge Zoo. Its bigger then regular zoo, its more park then ZOO, theres more green parts, animals are sometimes far away, but its place where you can be for all day. Children playground with water part.
Too expensive for the fact that there are almost no animals. But its nice to walk.More offerings would be nice though. For sure recommend other Zoos than this one.
Waste of time and money, took my kid there and he was disappointed because he couldnt see most of the animals he wanted to see like, lion, giraffe bear etcAll the animals there are animals you can see in a free entrance zoo.The other bigger zoo in the city is better
We did the Lieblingstierbesuch... meaning you get to feed/meet an animal... with penguins and giraffes and loved it both times. The staff is very friendly and nice and they go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy yourself and answer all your questions. The zoo itself is okay and definitely worth a visit.
Great place to spend some time with family and friends. Kids would really like the place. Its better to visit nice sunny day. One can expect 3 to 3.5 hours of walking.
Went there on a cool & sunny summer Monday afternoon. It wasnt crowded and we booked the tickets from the counter. Being a nature lover, I really enjoyed the few hours I spent in this largest animal garden in Europe! Theres also some places where visitors can interact with some animals which is fun. If walking is not an option, theres also a free car service that runs. Great place for spending time with family, kids, friends, your partner or just yourself :Will revisit surely and hopefully spend some more time there :)
Nice and big tierpark! We spent more than 6 hours going all the time. Nice touch is that train, also the bird show - only that is only in german :(. The maps were not clear for us, actually.
Really Good lots of animals to see in Beautiful Surroundings, Need Time to Get around its A big Place. I used Public transport, no Problem S Bahn and Bus very Simple.
Do not miss this outstandingly wonderful experience! I cannot recommend the Tierpark highly enough. Lovely staff and amazing animals. Food outlets were great quality and the lady at the small souvenir kiosk was a delight to speak to - a beautifully warm and enthusiastic person. The front gate man with the long goatee was kind and helpful too. We went twice to this precious place during our one week holiday. That’s how great the Tierpark is!
Its both a park and a zoo in one! Despite some people being anti-captivity, the animals here are clearly not mistreated or appear stressed at all. The zookeepers maintain the area very well and you can see that the animals are really chill about it. The zoo had also participated in several conservation activities that helped repopulate certain species that could be extinct. Definitely a nice place and good cause to support!
This is so much more than a Zoo. It truly is a park with animals. Some even roaming freely. An amazing experience. I would suggest to get the annual pass and come back frequently. Its quite a lot to do in one day.
It is huge, just be prepared for a walk, its really laid back though. The animals seem like theyre so close, and our used to the foot traffic so you will have several picture opportunities. You could easily spend a whole day here enjoying the park at your leisure. The food is good here too, a pleasant surprise most of the time zoos and aquariums food options are not a top priority, but we ate breakfast and lunch here and both were quite good.
Allot a half day or a day. Largest ZOO/ park in EU. It is hard to book a taxi coming here from the city centre, please tell them tier park and not berlin zoo, theres a difference. If you are a zoo lover, you might have seen most of the animals here. It is a good attraction for kids and there is a playground. There’s also a train that goes around the stop points so you wont be walking. However it doesnt cover the whole park so you will have to wear comfy clothes and shoes. Not much to do here though. Not in English but staffs are happy to help you if you have questions.
I spent around 3 hours to stroll around the whole zoo, some animals are very cute. 🤩
Sadly I cannot upload the Videos, but I have some where you can see the animals really stressed and runing in circles. IF YOU LOVE ANIMALS DONT GO. This day was VERY sad for me. I would not recommend it.
wonderful zoo! very beautiful animals, large territory. It takes 4-5 hours to see all the animals 🐰🦬🐾🦩🐻
A must when visiting Berlin huge park. Easy to get to by tram, bus or taxi. You can bring your pet dog there, like in most places in Berlin.Take some coins with, you can feed animals at the petting zoo, (unluckily machines were closed due to covid restrictions04/2022. Renting a wagon helps out when traveling with kids or having a lot of stuff with. Need proper shoes to walk with, were there 1/2 day clocked 13km. You can bring your own snacks n drinks to enjoy, and may I suggest a couple Berliners to enjoy.
Its a great place for family and children especially. There are a lot of animals, tropical building with crocodiles, interesting information for children about products containing and how it evolved for environment. Playing garden, food court and large territory for walking . It was interesting fir visit and make your dreams come true if you dream to see penguins and giraffes 😉
Maybe my favorite place in Berlin. This is more zoo forest than just your typical zoo, so its a great place to walk around, picnic, or find a quiet spot to read a book near the pheasants. It also boasts a castle, and how many zoos can say that?
I always enjoy visiting Tierpark when Im in Berlin. They have made some significant changes since I was last there a few years ago. The enclosures/habitats are big and well suited for the animals. The fact that the animals were all out and about, right up by the glass suggests they are comfortable and content. I recommend going to see the pheasant section as well, its always devoid of people for some reason but the birds are delightful!
Lots of beautiful animals. You can watch polar bears swimming LIVE.. but because of Construction some parts were closed.
Large grounds to walk through. Great place for a day out. Animal areas spread throughout the park, has nice spacious feeling but there are times when you do not see many animals. Mix of old cages and modern viewing areas and buildings. At time of visit a number of areas closed for building work. Dogs allowed is well behaved on short lead. A few snack kiosks within the park.
It is a bit stuffed and a lot of houses were closed, it didnt have that huge impact on me than I imagined, but it was a nice experience. AQUARIUM was a great highlight! I liked the medusas.
A wonderful place to spend good time with kids in the fresh air. A lot of trees and animals there, plus it’s very big though and need to walk too much but really worthy. Very clean, toilets also were very clean. Prices is not too high for this place. Recommend
Interesting zoo. The habitats are not super big and modern but the surroundings are big and feel like a big park. Great for spending a whole day.
Great place with history. Beautiful gardens, huge space with historical background. We went there for picnic and found wonderful places! Its worth it!
Even with the restrictions, Tierpark is a great day out. Amazing to see so many well cared for animals in interesting enclosures.
We went there during the covid crises. It is still open, although only the outside areas. It was still a nice visit though. Some areas seem to be newly renovated and with some animals you can see only a few feet away. The crisis actually made it more relaxed, lots of space and not many people. Bring some sandwiches though as all food places are still closed...
Even in winter is so much fun. Because of corona you have to wear your mask the whole time, which wasnt so great. But lots of space for you and lots of space for the animals as well. It was pure joy watching the polar bears play.Ohh and the best part your dog can enjoy it all with you.
The place itself is quite nice, but i find that the animal enclosures are quite small and in general mostly sand or dirt. Does not look like their natural habitat at all. Made me feel sad in most cases for the animals. I have seen many other zoos with much better space and entertainment for the animals
We enjoyed our visit to Tierpark. My daughter really liked the elephants! It was such a great exhibit, so open & just felt so close. There was a lot to see. I loved watching the tigers, beautiful big cats. Really easy to get to. Could not even tell we were in the middle of a major city! The park is well maintained. I remember my visit from 2004 here, very much the same & brought back great memories.Ontario, CanadaVisited April 2017
Its such an amazing zoo, the best one Ive been to. It is a huge area filled with trees and nature and you can walk through leisurely, without worrying about fighting to see the animals with other visitors. The animals have lots of room in comparison to most zoos and they seem very happy. There was plenty of cafés, restaurants and vending machines around to rehydrate and get some food. An amazing place, go if you get the chance.
