Sprawling complex that promotes Tibetan culture with a Buddhist shrine, exhibition space & library.
Amazing collection. Nice little gift shop. Staff is wonderful. Went for the Saraswati s Gifts exhibition, which was spectacular. Dont miss this place!
Beautiful display of tibetan culture and art. You can feel the peaceful energy of this place. Feel free to make a donation but otherwise there is no cost. This place inspires me to someday travel to tibet to learn more about their culture and history and get a glimpse of a Tibetan monks life. Such a wonderful way to spend some time in the middle of the city.
Professor Bob Thurmans creativity, insight, and love for the Tibetan people and culture is in full display in this spiritual haven.
I thought this was some sort of gambling. My friend told me this was a “to bet” house so I had my money ready to make some money. Boy was my face red
Tibet vibes
Hi, I visited when I went to New York for the first time since the march against the Vietnam War is the sixties! Tibet House is a wonderful place. I spent a long time in the little art museum and nobody bothered me when I pulled a ladder over and climbed up it to get a better look at the Gelukpa lineage tree tanka hung high up on the wall. Too high for a shorty like me! LOL! I was also able to attend a lecture on Bodhicitta by one of my sister nuns from my home monastery in Nepal. This last week for my birthday I was able to raise almost 300 dollars for them! Its important to keep Tibet House open in this difficult time. NYC is so impossibly expensive, as we all know. Its worth a visit and our support.
Wonderful energy. Dont be fooled that its an apartment building, just go to the door and ring the bell. Take elevator to top floor for temperature check. Lovely little gift shop. Exhibits change. There is also a lending library. Beautiful space.
I felt so much at peace and belonged when I visited Tibet House for a free gallery Exhibition. Welcomed by such a great staff who walked us thoroughly. All the ancient art displayed were beautiful, rare and well preserved. A perfect place to explore more about Tibet.
Very interesting house
Beautiful space with wonderful art and artifacts, as well as a wonderful little library and gift shop.
It was the annual music NYday meeting. They gave flowers, fruit and cake in the end.
Fabulous. New Years Day Chaleesas.
Amazing place. Even if your not a Buddist. If you love history, the arts and good vibes, its a must go
The US hub of Tibetan culture preservation with regular Buddhist instruction, artifacts and fine art, exhibition space, and cultural events. Directly affiliated with His Holiness, the Dali Lama, and founded and sponsored by luminaries of American culture. Also affiliated with the Tibet House in New Delhi, India.
Beautiful Tibetan cultural center in the heart of NYC downtown. There is a lovely small gift shop, an in-depth library of Himalayan-related themes and topics, an intimate shrine room, and a gallery-events space that is bright and accommodating. I always love visiting for art openings, meditations, lectures, or performances. Do check their schedule for opening hours, and sign up as a member to experience all their exquisite offerings.
Amazing place
Nice
Muy buen lugar para visitar
New Years Day! Hanuman Chalisa!
Tibet House US is a gem in Manhattan. I love the place and the people working and attending activities there. Please consider to visit this place, it is worthy in many ways.
My second visit to this very interesting small museum. Great for a quick visit or a long linger. I think they also run programs as well but youd have to check the website. I brought a small youth group there unannounced and they were very welcoming and invited us roam around and enjoy the artifacts. The youth were allowed to open and look through a beautiful book of Tibetan murals signed by the Dalai Lama! Full of fascinating pieces with a little temple in the back. Some pieces were hundreds of years old, parchment, figurines, items found in the temples, etc.
New years day Chanting the Hanuman Chalisa
Wonderful!
Great information center about Tibet
I enjoyed doing a lecture there.
很接地氣的展覽空間,工作人員也很親切
Great place if you like Tibetan art. Great library.
Love this place 💖
Wonderful place to rest your worries and find your inner peace of mind.
Wonderful Tibetan artwork, nice organized Library, great people and a great place to learn about Tibetan culture.
I feel like I would be encouraging negativity to be critical of this place. Ive got to be mindful and positive.Honestly the art here is amazing, even if they keep it a bit warm.
The place is beautiful and we had a nice meditation experience.
Fun place to look at Tibetan art
Came for a guided lunchtime meditation session, made to feel very welcome. Nice artwork around the room which I viewed after the session.
All are welcome to come meditate and appreciate the beautiful salvaged art from Tibet.
Beautiful space uplifting energy very peaceful
Small, thoughtful museum.
I love the Tuesday beginner meditation classes
Visiting from Australia, as a student at Buddha House FPMT. Tibet House is a serene, inspiring sanctuary celebrating Tibetan culture and Buddhadharma right in the hustle and bustle of NYC. With a comprehensive library, well-stocked shopped and connection with many invigorating teachers, its a definite recommendation for anyone interested in Tibetan Buddhism.
The meditation class was off the charts!!
I was visiting this location as research for a project. The space is open and free to public visits. Quiet gallery space with a small meditation room for prayer/worship. They have an incredible library which I could have spent hours investigating. Donations are recommended ($5). Overall, would recommend to anyone interested in learning about Tibet and Buddism.
Very interesting
Fascinating part of NYC. People should visit more often. Loads of artifacts
A beautiful space for exhibitions and to learn about meditation and Buddhism.
Its collection its exhibits its people its location
Good!!!
The exhibition is small but the library has an expansive collection of rare tibet-related books.
Visit this urban oasis during one of the center’s special events and you’ll be treated to all that is special and magical about this Buddhist Mecca.
An urban mecca for Tibetan Buddhism that both Buddhists and non-Buddhists can appreciate. The best way to experience Tibet House is to attend one of the centers special events. I attended the opening ceremony of The Maitreya Projects Heart Shrine Relic Tour and found it to be phenomenal. For the Tibetan enthusiast, the library is home to over 1,000 books on Tibetan culture and history, including books and audio cassette tapes on the Tibetan language.
