Elegant venue at the Banff Centre featuring upscale, seasonal meat & seafood fare & scenic views.
Our server was friendly - but, unfortunately my husbands food was not good, to say the least. I had the steak which was actually not bad.3 stars because our server was friendly enough for us to feel comfortable to let him know that the dish was not enjoyable.Due to the other reviews, Im assuming maybe it was just a bad night.
Last evening we enjoyed an excellent pre-concert dinner at the Three Ravens. Just a stones throw from downtown Banff. Located in one of the beautiful Banff Center buildings. Our highest recommendation is given without qualification. I highly recommended this restaurant.
Absolutely awesome restaurant. We came in the evening but the views would be stunning in the daylight. Our server was awesome - she was hilarious and really down to earth. Very knowledgeable about the dishes. The bread and butter and house marmalade were awesome. Great food and drinks. One of the best calamari’s I have ever eaten. Bison steak was great too. Save room for dessert, definitely worth it. A foodie place to check out. Definitely under rated. Will definitely eat here again when I am back in town.
Really good food and the service was excellent. Fine dining the way it should be done. Even the views were really good for the most part. The reason for the 4 star is that your basically sitting in a reserved section of the college cafeteria. Had a hard time getting over that as it didnt seem to match such a good meal.
Great food, amazing service excellent option for dinner
We were seeking out a dining experience for my daughters birthday and were exceptionally happy with the results. We enjoyed the octopus to start and between the three of us we sampled the beef, bison, and elk. It was the first time I tasted elk and it will not be my last. Our service was excellent and our dishes cooked and spiced to perfection. I look forward to another special occasion that demands this level of dining. Thanks for taking good care of us Sarah and the chef!
There were 4 people in our group and all agreed that our meal at the Three Ravens was the best dinner that we have had in recent memory.Located on the campus of the Banff Centre, and on top of a build there, its not the easiest location to find. As fine dining goes, the ambience is a bit quirky too as it is adjacent to a cafeteria. However, the food and the service make up for the oddity and then some.Great wines too. This is a must-do in Banff.
It was my birthday weekend and my girlfriend asked for a nice view and we literally had the nicest table in the whole restaurant. We had Jendra(?as our server, from Lithuania. She was so knowledgeable about the menu, any question we had, she answered instantly. The food was beyond my expectations, just excellent. The drinks were way better than I had expected as well. Nicholas (who looks like Blake from workaholics hahawas probably one of the best bartenders Ive ever had serve me drinks. The drinks were so good that my girlfriend and I had to go get a nightcap at the bar after our dinner & dessert. A few people walking by even mentioned that the drinks were so good! We will definitely be back! Nicholas & Jendra were absolute mensches!!!
Awesome experience and meal at the Banff Centres Three Ravens restaurant. Our waiter (Danwas awesome, and the view overlooking the town of Banff and the mountains was amazing. We skipped a starter, but were given a complimentary taste of poached mussels with cherry - served cold on a serving spoon. I enjoyed the sweetness of the cherry to counter the saltiness of the mussel. Additionally, we tasted three types of whipped butter (made in housewith bread - matcha, Ash salt, chocolate peppercorn, and a fruit cream cheese. I didnt much care for the chocolate butter, but really loved the Ash salt (smoky and saltyand cream cheese. The matcha wasnt anything aggressive, pretty light and easy for anyone not feeling adventurous with their butter.Entrees - my wife had the chicken, which she enjoyed very much. Although, the morel mushrooms that I tried were drenched in red wine vinegar I believe, which was off-putting. I had the roasted elk rack which was excellent. Cooked perfectly medium rare, tender, and juicy. The Farrow risotto was a nice, savory complement to the dish, as were the rest of the vegetables and tempura crumbs. The watermelon radish and watercress gave the dish a beautiful appeal, and provided to be a refreshing balance to a savory, deeply flavorful meal. Definitely recommend the elk!!Dessert - we shared the creme brulee, which was to die for. A perfect caramelization accompanied by fresh fruit, blueberry biscotti, and mango puree. The mango was both of our favorite flavors to add with the creme brulee.Overall, this place is great. The meal we had overlooking the beautiful mountainside, with excellent service will be a meal we cherish and remember for a very long time. Thank you Three Ravens!
One of the best dining experiences Ive had. Ate dinner at sunset time and the setting cant be better. Delicious food, great service, and great presentation.
We had an outstanding meal. The Halibut, bison, and rack of elk were simply delicious. Everything was mouthwatering and enjoyable. We also had great service from our waitress Lotte. Such a wonderful dinner!
We love this place. To have five stars gourmet dinner with gluten and lactose free requirements its hard to find but this place delivered beyond our expectations. The atmosphere is very elegant and quiet. The view is spectacular. Elk dish and mushroom are delicious. Highly recommended to everyone.
Visiting Banff from Philadelphia. If I were to recommend a restaurant to anyone visiting, this HAS to be on the top of their list. The service was absolutely stellar, probably the best service I have ever received. Several times our waitress came to offer us tastings of items the menu. The food was incredible, from the octopus starter to the bread with the herb butter to our incredible Trifle desert. 5 stars. Need to come back.
We had the most wonderful time at Three Ravens last night, celebrating our anniversary. I found the food to be very creative and delicious. I liked how the dishes were sort of an adventure, each bite a little different than the one before it as you moved around the plate! Im a celiac and a vegetarian and my ridiculous restrictions didnt hold me back in the slightest. And the views as we ate just made the evening that much more special.Only criticism is that the portions could be a little smaller so that we would have had room for dessert (the desserts looked amazing, but we couldnt possibly eat another bite!)
Outstanding! Our waitress was very pleasant and gave us a detailed description of all of the dishes, which were all spectacular. There were additional complimentary snacks throughout the meal which really made the price more justified. The food and view were incredible, highly recommended!
Best service best food best view. $40-$50 per main dish. Worth it
What a great place! Price is what you’d expect from a great restaurant ($30-$60 a plateservice was great, wine selection was on point and the food was delicious!
My boyfriend and I celebrated my birthday at Three Ravens and it was superb. Every dish was a work of art, visually and gastronomically. Our server, Sarah, was excellent, perfectly timing our experience and providing interesting info about what was on the plates. And the views are spectacular. Worth every penny. Highly recommend.
The restaurant affords the most beautiful views of the mountains around Banff. Elegant ambiance. All meals are prepared à la carte with the finest meats and freshest ingredients. All beautifully presented. Good wine selection and pairing as well. The only four-star restaurant in the area. Enjoy!
Finally an awesome meal..had to drive from Calgary just for this.. worth it.We tried all the appetizers and made it a degustation menu.Staff was friendly n meals were presented well n had plenty of flavor..The great escapade...
I was a little skeptical about dining here, but it is hands down the best food experience Ive ever had. From the amazing cocktails, to the amuse bouche, dinner and desert, it was nothing short of spectacular. You read the ingredients going into the dishes and think the chef is crazy, then you taste it and realize he is a genius! Well worth every penny and recommend to anyone wanting an amazing food experience.
Nothing short of spectacular. Our dinning experience was amazing from the start. Our Server was excellent, the food...the food was AMAZING. We love to dine out and treat ourselves to a fancier meal once in a while, and this was worth every penny! The decor was subtle, but the food colourful, well thought out and presented beautifully. If I could kiss the chef, I would. This restaurant is a go to for sure.
The food was just okay, in my opinion. It was not bad but definitely did not live up to the hype. I thought the Chef tried to incorporate too many flavors into one dish. My wife and I try to have at least one fine dining experience while on vacation and wish we would have chosen differently.
A hidden gem. Enjoyed one of the best meals Ive ever had here. Staff are friendly, the food is amazing and the views are breathtaking. Reasonably priced too! A must visit, but dont tell everyone!
We were very happy to find this restaurant. The food was gourmet- very unique and excellent plating. Excellent views which the restaurant is known for. It is located at the Banff Centre- a surprisingly large creative arts school in a small town. Check it out- it’s worth it! It can be tricky to find- it’s a large glass building on campus which is not really explained.
Chief trying to do gastronomic cuisine but not there yet. Sprinkles genius ideas (semifreddo with smoked trout including smoke under bellbut gets confused in the balancing of tastes (introduced random mustard and overdoses preserved vegetables). Makes unforgiveable mistake on the creme brulee (granular)
My girl friend and I spend several minutes to find the entrance. Come inside the restaurant, the stuff were friendly and the menu was very creative. For the food…looks really attempting ,the taste of the beef was ok,little overcooked ,my girl friend was disappointed with the dessert. Overall, friendly place, beautiful presenation ,ok food, the price is a bit overpriced.Due to their good customer service,I would like to change the 3 stars to 4 stars, keep up good work!
Shared and exquisite meal with my wife and son here this past week. Our waiter Daniel was first class and provided us an amuse bouche on the house. The other waiters were quite tickled with our little rambunctious 15 month old and that was more than appreciated as it’s always a point of contention taking our son out. Overall, the price, the ambience and the quality and taste of the food make for one of the best food experiences I’ve had to date. My wife had the bear and flower rabbit and I had the bison steak.
We had an amazing dinner here on a Friday night! I made a reservation and requested a window seat. They did advise me it was first come first serve for window seats, but we were accommodated accordingly. Amazing food and views. Our server, if I’m remembering correctly Johnny? Went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience. Excellent service and he even wrote down a note with a few hiking recommendations in the area.
Another Banff favourite to go too! It was a little tricky to get to, I got lost couple times but I was still able to find it. It will be on the right hand side around the round about! The view of this restaurant is breath taking, watching the sun set with the mountains and a nice glass of wine? I couldn’t have asked for a better evening out ! The food was amazing as well, I really enjoyed the Korean pork belly, bison and duck! Great service, I would totally recommend coming here!
I went here for an anniversary dinner with my wife and the staff experience was fantastic. The view outside of the Banff area was stunning. The roll arrived with three different kinds of butters made in house (garlic, mango and black truffle). The salmon mousse amuse bouche was good along with our main courses (beef striploin and duck). I think that the beef was a little overcooked (for my medium-rare request). The "deconstructed" lemon cake was divine and the cheeses were just the right size.
What a fantastic experience. Excellent views and the food is as easy on the palate as it is on the eyes
A fantastic multisensory experience! Tasty & creative food, incredible views, delightful staff. Shout out to our server, Johnny; in addition to knowing the ins-&-outs of the menu, he taught this Yankee a lot about Banff & Alberta.
Excellent meal, did a fantastic job incorporating local flavors and ingredients in an artful, flavorful manner!
Amazing place. I was a little nervous as we are younger than the typical crowd here, but the host and waitress didnt even think twice. Warmly welcomed and showed to our reserved seat. The waitress explained the menu thoroughly, going over her favorites and explaining the microgreen grower tucked away in a corner.Beautiful view even in the black of night. We were lucky to arrive during a cloudless night. Will definitely be coming back every time we go to Banff.
Food was quite okay, nicely plated food, also the increadients were a little bit Special. Not Michelin star rated Restaurant but for the Price it was good. Nice view over the mountains. The fine Dining area was a Little bit seperated, but there was also a buffet type area. So the atmospehere wasnt the best.
Its a rarity these days for food to look as beautiful as it tastes. Three Ravens is able accomplish this in leaps and bounds. The menu embraces the location and beauty of Banff and the surrounding areas with local ingredients and capturing those ingredients at their prime. If you are looking to be surprised in a good way, come with an open mind and an empty stomach, you will not be disappointed.
We dined here twice and would return in a heartbeat !!! Food is superb. The wait staff is quite professional, the venue very interesting. it would be nice if art could be incorporated with the experience. The chef is outstanding. Highly recommend.
This restaurant came highly recommended. All 6 of us thought for starters that it lacked decor. Felt like we were in a banquet room as it was dark outside so there was no view to speak of. Our food was okay, pricey but okay. However for that price you would think the service would be top notch, which it was far from. Our table of 6 had to request many items, like another drink, more buns (which we received 1), incorrect drink being served, forgotten dessert, just lack of attention to detail. All of us left unsatisfied after 3 course meal. Many other restaurants to choose from in beautiful Banff for that price.
Amazing food and outstanding service. Our server Dominic went above and beyond to ensure our experience was amazing. After mentioning a taste dislike for a certain spice, Dominic and the kitchen allowed us to taste sauces to ensure we would enjoy the meal before hand.Every dish was amazing and well prepared.10/10 would recommend
The food was amazing here. We had the pork belly to start and it was absolutely to die for. Our mains and dessert were equally as amazing. Our server, Yvonne, just made our experience that much better. She was friendly, honest, and to be perfectly honest, we wouldnt have enjoyed our experience as much as we did if it wasnt for Yvonne. The view was breathtaking, especially at sunset. One thing this restaurant could improve is the atmosphere. It didnt feel as intimate as we would have liked as its just a sectioned off part of a larger dining hall. Other than that, I would highly recommend Three Ravens and hopefully will have the opportunity to come back!
Three ravens is where we decided to go to celebrate our engagement and our last day in Banff. The experience was first class. From the beginning, our waiter, Dominic, was warm and answered all our questions. To start we were offered three different homemade butters and they even had gluten free bread so that I could enjoy them as well. For the main course, we ordered duck and Alberta beef. The presentation was artistic and every bite was delicious and satisfying. We came later in the evening so the restaurant was on the quieter side, making it feel all the more intimate. When Dominic found out that we were celebrating our engagement, he brought out a complimentary plate of fruit and chocolates with congratulations written in chocolate. The entire experience was memorable and we strongly recommend Three Ravens and its high quality food and service!
I loved my time at the Banff Centre. The staff is simply amazing and everyday they serve a delicious and varied buffet.
We had a window table and the view was stunning during sunset. We had prawns as a starter and we were very impressed by the rich and creative flavors. For the main course, I ordered Icelandic cord, which was fried and a bit dry. Our waiter was exceptionally good. Parking space was hard to find. Definitely will come back again.
Good modern cuisine with friendly service. Restaurant does have a weird setup and is unmarked as it is part of the school. I think the food is good and the plating well done, however the price point is a bit high for lacking the polish of formal dining establishment. And while I think the food was good, it is not fantastic which could make up for the price and atmosphere if it was. I did enjoy the service quite a bit, but if you were ready to spend a bit extra id go to Eden.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Three Ravens for a family birthday dinner and had one of the best and most interesting meals we have had in years. Chef Brandon was extremely creative in his appetizers, utilizing unique ingredients that were both incredibly tasty and beautiful in presentation. The mains from the meat to the fish dishes (I had the salmon which was excellentwere cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were generous, which is often not the case in certain high end restaurants. Our server, Yvonne, was very knowledgeable on a complex list of ingredients and had just the right level of friendly interaction. Highly recommended and we will be back for a meal with daylight to enjoy the stunning views from here.
My wife and I went there as it had many top reviews. We ordered the prawn appetizer. It was delicious but the prawns were a little under. The beet soup was unremarkable. I ordered the beef tenderloin which was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the salmon entree. It was mediocre and the mussels were undercooked and she had to spit one into her napkin. The creme brûlée was hot and runny and was sent back.Perhaps just an off night but unimpressed especially at the price point.
Lets start saying I was so impressed I was able to find a nice restaurant that had a Vegan Option! I jumped at it after looking at 5 other fancy restaurants in Banff and I am glad I chose this one! Sadly I would love to try this place again in the day light so we could see the view but that is our doing. Our Waiter had a great smile and we had some great conversations. I started with the Beetroot Soup, with Pickled Cabbage and Dill Slaw and it was so silky and creamy though I felt like the flavors got old to quickly until I found a little piece of Hazelnut which just made it taste divine! unfortunately I had only three pieces and that was it. PLEASE add more hazelnut into the dish it would have been perfect if I had not been searching for a few more.Thai Black Rice and Fried Tofu... this... this was amazing... if only I could express how much I adored this dish I have no complaints and for this dish I will be coming back. It simply took my breath away and just felt like bliss. Well done.My husband ordered the Alberta Bison Tenderloin. It was well seasoned, very tender, mushrooms cooked well, the potatos had lots of flavor. Only complaint was he would have liked a steak knife to cut it better and he did not like the feel of the butter knives. He loved the honey butter and the look of the cute butters but the other two did not have much flavor but the bread was warm and fresh. And the little piece of chocolate at the end was very nice touch to finish with.Glad my Husband and I could spend our 8th Anniversary here. Left with warm hearts and full stomachs. Thank you.
I was looking forward to trying Three Ravens as I had heard good things about it but was very disappointed. We were a larger group but almost the only ones in the restaurant so it should not have had a significant impact on our service, or lack thereof of. The service was incredibly slow and inconsistent with people at our table having to ask for drinks two and three times to actually get them. Two of us had wine that tasted off and they were reluctant to provide a replacement or alternate selection. At another point they ran out of the wine we were ordering and just substituted something else without telling us and hoping we would not notice. I have no issues with a place running out of something but usually you let your customer know and not just slyly give them something else. The food was a standard menu for our group but the quality was quite inconsistent and a couple of people in our group either sent it back or did not eat it. Overall the space was nice and the view was fantastic but the service and food quality was really lacking.
DinnerIn the sticks and not easy to locate on the campus. Ambiance was a little cafeteriaish.Service was amateurish and our waiter knew very little about the product but, effort was made and they were all personable. The elk tartar was incredible.Moroccan Lamb shanks was a little bland but well prepared.Pork trio was good but, nothing to write to you about.Overall an average meal.
