Thomas Stapleton - Irish pub in Kortenberg, Belgium
Good cool pub for hang out....Lots of Irish drinks along with Leuven special Stella Artois
Good atmosphere
Great irish pub in the center of Leuven. Great staff, selection of beers and whiskeys, and nice terrace in the back. 10/10 would recommend for a night in Leuven
Great authentic Irish pub
Away from home for work, needed to see the Ireland game. Glad I found this place.
Amazing service and great interior! Really fun to watch soccer games.
On a busy week evening when there is football on telly, there is a nice atmosphere to view the match.
Great selection of whiskey!
Good Irish pub with an excellent whisky selection
Guinness, great service and great music. What else do you want 🤘👊🤘
A little Irish gem tucked away between the Leuven cobblestones. Familiar homey Irish vibe with Guinness on tap, what more could you want?
Nice and cheap (but music is too loud)
Big place inside! Very cozy English pub-like.I dont drink, but if you do youll love all the variety of alcoholic drinks, whiskeys, they have!
Calm . Typical irish. Go and taste the coffe beer if you havent yet.
Good breakfast / brunch option on a weekend. And nice Irish pub atmosphere too.
Irish pub in Leuven. Fun bar, frequented by both locals and foreigners
Good beer and great place to watch Premier Football
Incredible pub! Awesome atmosphere!
Decent bar, slightly out of the way so not too busy. Good drinks nice service.
It is placed in a quiet street. A good place to talk quietly with people. :)Drinks are mainly beer yet they do have soda and warm drinks too.
The food here is delicious as usual! Do yourself a favor and go brunch here on sundays ;).
Always a 5 star experience despite the rugby teams being at 1 star for their showing. Great bar great staff.
When it comes to finding a cozy location for some drinks with the mates, this place has to be in the conversation. Staff is very friendly and the service is outstanding. In short: the place to be!
A very disrespectful, rude staff and the owner. I’ve been there twice. First time ladies (waitresseswere very gentle. I had a good impression of the place thanks to them. So, I came the second time… I went there and faced a waiter who was extremely rude. He offered me to sit far in the corner, I asked is there any other available table than that. His answer was “not my problem, I don’t care where you sit”. No respect to clients. The owner was out in 2 min after that rude waiter. I asked him if I could have a table that was about to be free (people were standing and I dealt with them that I can have the table after them), but I’ve been discriminated and restricted to sit at that table by the owner. He claimed it was for men only. So, keep in mind that these “gentlemen” have no manners, showing sexism and racism all in one. Destroyed all good vibes to this place completely!
Real Irish hospitality and atmosphere. Try the ciders on s warm day. Nice terras in the back during corona.
Had my first guiness here. The place is so big it can take a while to find your friends. I recommend the irish breakfast on sunday. Just 8 euros.
One of the few authentic Irish pubs Ive ever visited outside Ireland. Not like a lot of "plastic paddy pubs" that are popping up everywhere. Really worth a visit.
A classic authentic irish pub. Staff a really great and welcoming. Food and drink are excellent.
Cool Irish pub in the center of Leuven. Theyre always showing some sport in their TVs like champions league, UFC or NFL.
Nice Irish pub with an Irishman from Kildare behind the bar. I approve of the Guinness.
A cosy, calm place away from the oftentimes too intense Oude Markt, with very friendly staff and a generous whisk(e)y menu. They serve actual pints here: "half a liter and a mouthful", as the tenant would say. Perfect place to talk with friends or strangers alike.
Nice Irish pub. Wide range of drinks and very friendly staff. Good place to watch some football or have a drink.
Great authentic Irish pub in Leuven. Lovely staff and good prices.
Very nice place to watch a football match with a good pint of beer. Visited several times. Always crowded and noisy. Was lucky to meet some really dedicated fans. They created an amazing atmosphere. The beer was fresh, of course. If you just want to enjoy your drinks, there is an outside seating with no TV.Don’t expect to get a steak here. It’s a bar. At most you’ll get some chips.Overall, this is the place to visit in Leuven.
This is such a good natural Cafe. Its a good place to meet and talk. Also the bar staff are super friendly and the Guinness is the best.
When you look at the vibe, the interior, the bathrooms, the old TV screens, ... it seems like they have given up. Yet, they cant give up because people still want to drink Guinness (and such). Depressing like a couple staying together for the money.
Hands down the cosiest bar in Leuven. Guinness, ciders, some regular beers and a wide selection of whisky makes it my go to bar for any occasion
I made the mistake of wearing an orange t-shirt (just by chancewhen going to the Thomas Stapleton. Despite having an empty bar I wasnt served by the two staff behind the bar. I thought it strange. Someone else came to the bar and the bar staff attempted to serve him first until I complained. I have no interest in Irish politics but the bar staff appeared to discriminate against me on the basis of a flawed assumption. 1/5
Great place to hang out & grab a drink with a bunch of friends! Because of the booths in the back, you can have great conversations without all of the usual noise. Oh & almost forgot about the beers.. well theyve got plenty 👌🍺
Best Guinness Ive had outside of Ireland, and as cheap as home. Good selection of whiskey and a friendly atmosphere. Delicious food, but only available on Sundays
Great Irish pub. Service is great and so is the look of the place. Crowded on nights with sports events, but for the rest it varies. Atmosphere is very chill. Great place to have a nice chat. Also nice and varied music!
Lovely, authentic Irish pub. Cosy and relaxed atmosphere, but youll never find the bar empty. Friendly Irish staff (who understand both Dutch and Englishand a good mix of Irish and local drinks, make for one of the best bars in Leuven.
Really cozy place with a great atmosphere. The employees are all very kind. The music is good and never too loud, so you can have a chat without having to scream at eachother. (Except on sports days and when there is a live music show in which case the place is packed. On sundays theres an amazing brunch from 12:00 until 16:00 which Id recommend to anyone!
No better pub experience in Leuven. Great to watch sports, great service. Real patience, even when your group is edging on being drunk, the service will be impeccable. Very clean. The wooden "rooms" make this pub unique in its kind.
Good place with a nice vibe and friendly staff. They sometimes have live music, which is great, but the improvised stage for the bands is not quite adequate. It would be great with a proper stage for live bands.
Unfortunately the only true Irish pub in Leuven, which however needs updates and improvements. The pub is greatly located in the center of the city and offers traditional Irish beer and whiskey selection. However, the kitchen is open only on Sunday mornings, which is not sufficient nowadays and the menu is quite poor overall.Irish pubs have always been famous for offering great sport entertainment. Unfortunately this is not the case. The only big picture is coming from an ancient projector, which is at least 8 years old! (I am sure as I know the place for at least this many years). There is a second big TV and a tiny one. 3 screens are definitely not enough, with the layout inside, which sometimes has obstacles in your view. In addition I have had the disappointment not be able to see a big game of the CL as they didnt have the channel on their subscription! Many areas for improvement and requires some investments, not only asking people to pay for their drinks.
Always good craic. Good pint of Guinness, and the terrace at the back is chill. Rugby and PL footie shown. Very popular with the Leuven foreign students too.
Its a dark place, with a beautiful wooden interior. The have a decent selection of beer, guiness and cider on tap, and you can regularly watch sport events on the big screen. Service is in English, but they do understand dutch, and theyre generally a friendly lot. If youre looking for a real pub, not one of those fancy-schmanzy new-style cafés where sporting the latest hipster beard is mandatory, then youve come to the right place.
I might be subjective here for 3 reasons its an Irish pub (biiig fanand second they have somersby (favorite drink in summerthey have football (steaua Bucharest fan😀 except this I find it an excellent alternative to all the typical Belgian bars from oude markt
A tad more expensive than is should be in my opinion, but the atmosphere here is amazing! When there is a soccer match this place is packed with enthusiasm! Love it!
