If I could give 0 stars I would. This hotel accepted our booking for two nights as well as parking and then failed to inform us or the travel company we booked with that the hotel was closed and had been so for months.We drove for 5 hours through what can only be described as rivers of rain water only to find the hotel locked up and with scaffolding around it. We then had to walk 25 minutes through pouring rain to get to an alternative hotel which our travel agent arranged for us. Allegedly we had been rebooked into another hotel owned by the parent company of Thistle in Charing cross which was completely unsuitable for our itinerary however neither Expedia nor ourselves or our booking company had been informed.Catastrophic failure of their booking system. I strongly suggest you phone well ahead to confirm any hotel bookings but especially with this hotel.

The hotel is full of old charm my two adult daughters and I stayed in a family suite which consisted of two adjoining rooms.As we were going for my Daughters Birthday the hotel had left us a free bottle of prosecco and a large bowl of fresh fruit.There was a free mini bar and everything was very comfortable!The only down side is that the plumbing leaves a lot to be desired. The hot water takes a while to reach the room and is not very powerful when it gets there. The bidet didnt work and nor did the spa bath.Apart from that. It was a lovely stay and the staff were very kind and helpful.

The staff was nice but the hotel is not worth a 4*. The sheets were clean but the room and the bed spread were very dusty. We found lots of hair on the bathroom floor, and the bathrooms facilities were really old and not well maintened. Lots of light bulbs out of order, nothing apart water in the mini bar and there was a very unpleasant sented smell in the hotel floors corridors which I think its used to refresh them but to me that doesnt work. The breakfast buffet and its quality are quite poor for a 4 stars. We cant order any eggs speciality or hot food. But again the staff was kind which brightened up our stay, the beds are confortable and the screen tv is massive ! But they need to improve the cleanliness and the quality of food and facilities. And also the location is perfect and facing my favourite park : hyde park ! The post doesnt mean to be mean, it is just the unfortunate reality.

Great location but a bit tired. Plumbing and heating need modernising so that the heating works (and guests dont have to rely on electric heatersand it is possible to have a shower without flooding the bathroom. The floor becomes lethal when wet so watch out.Staff serving breakfast very grumpy and unhelpful. Reception staff though were lovely and the second electric heater was supplied quickly when advised one was not sufficient because we were cold the first night of our stay.Not greatest hotel weve ever stayed in but it is reasonably priced for London, especially when so close to the park.

I’ve never had such a terrible experience staying somewhere.First night - we discover that the bathroom ceiling is not only moldy and peeling but leaking.2nd day- They claimed that there wasn’t any rooms available because there have been flooding throughout the hotel. So I contacted Expedia to see if there is something they can do. The room was unacceptable for anyone to stay in. They move us into another room. As I am rushing to get to the other room to start my day, I left my cash in the room. He calls the housekeeper on the phone. I told him it was a lot of cash that I left. He housekeeper asked if it was 600. I responded it yes if anything, slightly more. He tells the concierge, no he didn’t find anything. (But coincidentally knows the amount)I notify the manager about both situations. He offers me free breakfast, when someone already emailed me offering free breakfast. Then offers 50% off my stay. He basically tells me that is what the safe is for even though the hotel is not responsible for anything - still contradicts having a safe.3rd day - the fire alarm goes off around 11am and everyone has to evacuate the building. They have to figure out why it went off and to set up the alarms again and can not go back into the rooms for 2 hours so they walked us over to their other hotel 2 blocks away to shower and get ready.Checkout - I ask yet another manager about investigating my situation about the missing money and the first manager gave her the wrong information, which she will also investigate and told me to call the police as well as I should have travel insurance to cover the incident. The General Manager was not notified of this experience until I mentioned it at checkout.I would never recommend this hotel to anyone especially after such a terror of an experience. The accommodations they made were discounting 1 night of my stay and a taxi to the airport. Still doesn’t make up for the lack of urgency and severity of the situation.

I cant say enough about this hotel. The entire staff was very friendly and eager to help in any way possible. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable. The manager Celion was especially kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend it for a great place to stay for your next trip to London

(I work for a company that directly serves this hotel)Despite the note above I did love this Hotel, as I was working I did not actually stay in the rooms but have been complemented by customers (who believed I worked directly for Thistleabout the services offered; Laundry, Room & Board, among others.The staff I worked with (Mainly Receptionwere extremely kind and polite even before I had made them aware that I was to be working to improve their job through quality of life benefits (Mainly IT).The guests who had arrived before me were well taken care of as if there reception was actually a spa day in disguise, if I had the chance I would certainly stay at the Thistle Hyde Park as it is a truly beautiful hotel with employees who reflect that in their work.

First up, the hotel is BEAUTIFUL - everything from the lobby to the bedrooms to even the toilets are gorgeous. The staff seem generally pretty nice, too. - However (and I mean a BIG howeverI wouldnt recommend staying there in summer. The room we stayed in had no air-con (its an old building, so you can *kind of* look past thisbut DID have a very big dyson fan - which unfortunately didnt have any instructions, and was stuck on a low setting - not ideal in 30 degree heat! Also, for whatever reason, our bathroom had its heating on full - tried to change this, but the heating/fan switches werent working at all. Final thoughts - if its winter and you want to stay in a super pretty place with a toasty bathroom, this place is great. If its the middle of summer and youve got heat exhaustion, like I had, - maybe give it a miss.

Started off badly when our deluxe room turned out to look out onto a column of pipes and filters. Looked like they would be for aircon, except this hotel has no air conditioning. Not the view of Hyde Park promised on the website. Stayed here 30 years ago when it was Whites Hotel and surprised to see all the same bedroom & bathroom fittings. Tired is not the word, completely worn out more like. Poor maintenance see shower photo, light switches that dont work, missing bed side lamp, fridge that seemed to be on one degree below room temperature and badly repaired chairs. Although the room was large and the breakfast very nice, for £400 a night I expect more than this. I would not recommend this hotel.

Love this hotel! We have stayed there three times during last three years:The most beautiful- building, architecture and inside designs, left from the old times. It is so nice and good! People are welcoming and helpful, we had the best experience there. And the Hyde park near. Simply - the Best!:)

Staff was amazing. Hotel was horrible. The first room we had the sheets were dirty with hair and stains. We were moved to a smaller second room for the night. The next morning our keys did not work after breakfast, the door lock broke. We were moved to a third room for the 2nd and last night of our stay. That room also had dirty sheets with hairs and small stains. We were so exhausted we slept on top of the covers. We went to use the bathroom is the morning and found the ceiling covered with black mold! Great and friendly staff but would never stay there again.

This hotel is beautiful. Its in a great location and the staff are more than happy to help with any queries. My room was very large and more than enough for me. I have no complaints about my nights sleep as I slept entirely undisturbed. The breakfast was a buffet style English Breakfast, (the mushrooms are delicious!)Unfortunately I lost an item, which was my fault to be fair, I packed my suitcase leaving 1 item in the bathroom and I didnt find it when I came back, even though I was sleeping a second night there. As they clean the room daily and my suitcase was nowhere to be found, the cleaner must have thrown it away. Its an easy mistake, but apart from that, given the opportunity again, I would definitely stay over again.

Staff very helpful. They provided everything we needed, and where very friendly with our baby girl! Room wasnt big, and we knew that going in, but its truly a full English lifestyle experience.Location is beyond perfect, bus stop in front of the hotel, underground is less than 5 minutes away, and everything is 30 minutes walk tops!

Absolutely loved this hotel. It is a small hotel but very elegant. Upon arrival we had to wait about 15 mins for room to be available, but were given an unexpected room upgrade to junior suite. The room was lovely, comfortable, and the bath - well it was the biggest / deepest and just right for a lovely long soak. Breakfast was perfect, and all the staff could not have been more helpful. We will definitely come back.

We had an amazing stay which started with a very warm welcome from Simone, who was very helpful. The location is great and the hotel has lots of character, is very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent with plenty of choice and nothing is too much trouble. We would definitely use this hotel again. Thank you for a great stay

Stayed here for a few nights in July 2016 and it was wonderful. Not far from the tube, and restaurants, and its across from Hyde Park, great location, and the price was within my modest budget. The hotel itself was beautiful. Yes there were some issues, but it is an old building, so I chalked that up to longevity. The staff were nice and helpful, and the rooms were larger than the normal London rooms Im used to, a plus. The only issue I had was there was no A/C. In the middle of July, and a rare heat wave in London, A/C would have been nice. The hotel did provide a fan, but that only helped so much. Other than that, my stay was comfortable. Recommend if you in town for a couple of night.

Beautiful old building, but the rooms are small and cold single glazed windows and an incredibly noisy extractor fan outside the window. Bed not particularly comfy the smoke alarm was covered. Water pressure non existent and hot water tepid at best. Breakfast says nice enough. All staff very polite.
