Picturesque destination offering pathways & overlooks around steaming waters of natural hot springs.
A must visit place if visiting Beitou part of Taipei. The Thermal Valley is really impressive. It is really wonderful to see steam coming out of a large hot spring like this one. It is also very well maintained.
The steam is very hot. When u get close to it, u can feel the heat
So sad 😢 we traveled 3 hours from taichung to see this place but when we arrived there its close and under construction.. hopefully they post a warning in there site that this place is close thats why we cannot travel that far and waste our time😶.
Great experience for someone with a curious mind about how hot a volcano is. There are many hot spring surrounding the area. One great experience is eating a boiled corn and egg here.
Tha major tourist spot in Beitou, you can feel the heat and smell the Sulphur of hot spring water.Similar to that in Beppu of Japan.
- spectaculous spot for taking nature photo- feeling amazing when hit by the hot spring steam- the hot-spring egg is best served with salt and the peper
Lovely place to see Hot Spring! Can smell the strong sulfur when the wind blows. Overall, a must to visit and see!
This is awesome when you come in the cold climate. So peaceful and quite place. You can smell sulfur but so little. The distance from the train station is quite far. So if you take elders to here like me, cars would be a good option for you.
Really cool hot springs easy to get to fro. Taipei city centre.Free entry. We went on a public holiday, but even then it wasnt too overcrowded. The steam coming off the spring was beautiful. Also lots of good local street food and coffee nearby. Would highly recommend as a fun day out
Beautiful scenery! Definitely worth your time to visit and try the hot springs.
New experience... once out from Beitou Thermal Valley, turn left walk further uphill... there is a small eatery... pls go try it out... Not Bad!
Interesting hot spring episode. Not a big area though & a bit of walking required to get in. Even had a short dip in their local public hot spring which costs next to nothing! 😊
An absolutely amazing experience. Ive never been to any thing like this. Seeing the steam coming off of the water was incredible. Definitely recommend paying a visit.
Nice place to take photos. It located at the end of Beitou park. Outside of the attraction there are shops selling eggs cook by the hot spring. The place is also filled with sulphur smell “Rotten egg” smell. There are Toilets located inside the attraction.Suggest to walk there from Xin Beitou Train station as there are plenty of attraction along the way.
Beautiful nature. Recommended to stay overnight their so you can enjoy and walk atound.
Fantastic hot green water spa. I recommend lookin for the green water lodge, where for a dime you will enjoy a brief (you cannot withstand a long onedip into really hot green water in a lodge used during the war for highest ranking Japanese officers. In the surrounding area, lots of geysers or fumaroles. Very attractive place. Can walk around and the environment is refreshing. Before u heading to the thermal valley, u can go to their morning market and get some food to eat. The morning market is selling all local food, vege and fruit. There is a stall selling fried prawn, the prawn is fresh and tasty. If you not full u can go into their indoor market, selling lots of local food. One of the famous one is ai Zai chai lu Rou fan. once u get into the place u can walk to the very end where the is the hot spring area. Very pretty
Probably our own fault for going on a 30 degrees day. We walked to the thermal valley and it was so hot. Sweated profusely. Valley is okay looking. Not really worth the out of the way trek. only if you are in the neighborhood. the museum was not very large either
Visited the place in July and of course we were hot 😢but do not regret at all as its a wonderful place
Green sulfate hot spring! Only in Tawain and Japan. History was great to learn and route is simple and impact( about 3 mi. Walk). Enjoyed Beitou and love it even more. It gets pretty hot as you get closer ( nearly 95 degrees)
Nice lake with a lot of vapour and it smells like eggs because of the sulfur. There is a nice path along the side of the lake. You can buy eggs cooked in this water nearby. The entry is free.
From Shinbaitowo station, climb a gentle slope for about 15 minutes. There are several hotels near hot springs. Only bathing can be used. The road is also easy to walk and walks along the river, so it is comfortable. At the souvenir shop, we sell soap using hot spring ingredients. There is a hot spring museum so you can learn more about this hot spring.
The Devil Valley @ Hell Valley. Tourist attraction here in Beito. Extremely hot 80-100 degree cel. Dont try to swim here. Can feel the steam and sulfuric smell upon reaching there. Nice place for relaxing and enjoy nature💪
A nice tourist attraction if you pay a visit to Beitou. A relax place where you can “feel” the thermal spring for free.
地热谷 Thermal valley was beautiful! The smell of sulphuric water and hot steam coming out naturally was a sight. There is a shop here that sells gifts that can only be bought here. I have not seen any of the gifts else where.
Small tourist attraction but powerful display of the natural springs in this area. Worth a visit. Lots of hot spring hotels in this area.
One of the must go place in Taiwan. Such a good view and great environment.
I loved it. I felt like I was in Japan. I got a private hot spring in a hotel, and just fell asleep in it. It was so relaxing. There was some magnificent architecture from colonial Japan, and the natural spring was spectacular.
Beitou is a recommended location. Just get off at Shinbeitou station and the entrance to the Thermal valley or Beitou park is right across the street. Do not forget to bring your own swimsuit that is not so revealing if you do not want to rent the pieces they have.
A lot of walking , was rather hot when I was there. Basically a big pond of hot spring. Nice view, though you cant go in because its too hot
A small attraction for you to see a pool full of steam which smells like sulfur. This is an interesting place to learn about the volcanic and natural heating for hot spring around the area. While entering here they are some stalls selling eggs cooked with hot spring water/steam, I’m not sure about that but you can give it a try to see if the egg is different from the usual.I would say this is recommended if you are on the way to going to any hot spring places around the area. Why not right? :)
Hot Spring TWD 40 per session. Thermal Valley pleasant strolling and photography. Museum closed October 2018. Timber library. English newspapers available.
I love to come here and just enjoy beautiful scenery and the mist produced by the thermal lake :it was like seeing magical event :)Xin Beitou Thermal Valley is located near Xinbeitou MRT station, it takes around 15 minutes walk from MRT station. It is a bit uphill, just be ready for the uphill.Upon reaching you will see people selling Onsen eggs from the thermal valley and you can buy it for 15 NTD/egg. It is quite delicious and eat it with pepper, Inside the thermal valley there are small shop to buy souvenir and ice cream if you want. When go inside, you can smell the sulfur and the smoke from the valley. It is very hot inside and be careful not to dip your feet to the thermal valley or throw any rubbish/stone causing the water to spray on you. When i went with my group of friends, there are some bugs/mosquito biting them( i think because close to the forest areajust bring mosquito/bugs repellant and you will be fine. When you walk inside, you can go to hiking trail and go to other end, but we just like to enjoy the thermal valley and walk back again to city. :)It is nice area, but just dont spend too much time inside and breath so much sulfur (if you got some asthma, better be prepared because the smell of sulfur is quite thick)Overall nice area and I enjoy the tranquility far from city.
Follow the trail of heat rising from the river and you will arrive at the heart of this thermal bathtub. The smell of sulfur was prevalent as we got closer to the main attraction.
A fun & fast destination to explore in Taipei.Maybe a 10 to 20 minute walk from the xinbeitou MRT station. On the way, you can check out the old train station building, pass through the Beitou park as well as the check out the local public library.I went in the summer, but I definitely want to come back in the winter to check out one of the nearby hotel hot spring spas.
Lovely spa area, the local spa hotel looks great. This place is where the hot spa water come out to the ground surface. Is a shame that I visited in the summer. Otherwise I would have visited the free foot spa in the park. Will come back in another time when is winter.
Good place to visit especially if youre particularly interested in natural and geosciences. But for those seeking lots of scenic views, Thermal Valley only mainly boasts of a lake rich in green sulfur that causes the body of water to appear like jade. From underneath the lake bed, heat is emitted, thus visitors can easily watch as steam rise from the water. People were allowed to boil eggs in the lakes hot water in the past, until local laws prohibited this practice as it contributes to the pollution of the lake. If youre planning to visit here, also check out other places nearby to maximize your trip.
The heat from the core of the Earth is for real! Thr only mineral on this planet named after Taiwan, BeiTou Rock. All worth of the visit except that the trails and rails have been under maintenance for ages. Orange banners and cones boldly get in the way between the view and you.
Cool place, very steamy, photo op. A few souvenir shops to visit.
Well worth the time to go check it out as its easy to get to from Taipei on the MRT. A pleasant walk through the park with plenty of opportunities for photos and snacks along the way. A good place to tie in with a day or half day trip to Tamsui and lovers bridge.
Amazing experience. The whole area is scenic and smells of sulfur and senses of relaxation. Incredible ambiance with a lot of happy, calm people either fresh out of a hot spring or about to get in one! Must visit if you are travelling to Taiwan.
Pleasant area, even on a cold rainy day. Large steaming lake is impressive, sending steam up into the mountains above.
Okay, after living a year in Taiwan, this was our first time to the hot springs. We werent quite sure what to expect. We walked about 10 minutes from the MRT station, and decided to go check this place out.We got a private room with a tatami and hot tub. The room was quite nice, clean but in a desperate need of some renovating. The staff was very nice and gave us a 10 minute call before it was time to check out. Two hours cost about 1300 TWD.
Nice walk from the Beitou station to the hot spring.. especially during cold weather but the hot spring was okay. Nothing fancy and great.. be careful there is another point where you can swim with your swimsuit but its a long queue and this might not be the point you want to get to. You have to walk even further up to get to the point we were.
Quite nice place. The sulfur smell is not too aggressive, so its easy to walk by the thermal valley. Easily accesible from the xinbeitou station, and there are lots of good food places around there aswell.
Absolutely impressed by this Thermal Valley, or another name Hell Valley. Careful with the smell of sulfuric. A decent walk from Beitou Garden but worth it! Nice for taking photos ;)
Very interesting place to see how nature works, or you can get a local guide from the Beitou storytelling group. They are very informative and youll learn a lot more than walking around by yourself )))
dont even walk close to in in summer... way too hot...winter is actually amazing to stop by...
Amazing view of how beautiful mother nature is. Free entrance. It can get warm in the area so make sure to have a bottle of water with you.
This area is on the top of a tectonic spot so you will find many hot springs and chimneys. There is a big lake of hot smoky ester, several museums and many hotels. To get there from Taipey, take the metro to Beitou station and then change line to reach Xing Beitou station.
