Vítkovice 3004, 703 00 Ostrava-Vítkovice, Czechia, Ostrava
Huge industrial heritage site with furnace tours, mining museum & concerts in former gas container.
It was so much fun to come here and visit quite unusual place. Big surprise that there is polish speaking guide. Thank you Michael, you are the best guide ever!
Nice area, very beautiful buildings, that are amazingly renovated and unique exterior exterior. Ticket sales at tourist information weren’t so helpful
Beautiful post-industrial place. We have been there during our visit of Beats 4 love, it was awesome. Highly recommend.
For the first time I was there in 2013 having fun on Colours of Ostrava. I am impressed to this day. The area is incredible! I have visited it again in 2020 and it has again left me speechless. Definitely worth visiting. Do not hesitate to visit also Bolt Tower with their café, its worth it!
Worth it. Remember to register earlier if You want to go to top tower.
Amazing industrial area! You can really feel like in the steam punk world. Its a very good place for a short walking boot you can also take a guided tour inside some of the buildings. Really recommend this place, its really unique! There is also building with big playground for children.
Tourist trap. Very large plant with compulsory short and expensive tours (1.30 h for 15€that skip half of the billboards and sights and rush to the bar. I dont expect the guides to speak english but there is not even time to see all the marked spots. Upon asking the receptionist to have a bit more time we were told that "you are supposed to book the audio guide, not read the billboards". Advertised as european heritage site but they have little clue on what tourism and sightseeing means.
Wery beautiful old fabric, interesting to walk around an see all those old rusty iron buildings..Recommended to give the area a visit.
Must seen place for all lovers of industrial/postindustrial areas. Fantastic place for photography sessions. You could walk freely around. There are tablets around with information about different buildings and whole process of blast furnace steel production. There are guided tours (100 minin Czech, but on weekends are in English too. Audioguide available. For the whole complex at least 3 hours should be reserved.
If you like the industrial æsthetic, then you have to make a trip to see this huge iron and steelworks, which are free to wander around. While I was there, a circus troupe were recording a video which added to the surreal feel. An easy tram ride from the centre. If you can get a guide, it really helps bring the scale of the place to life.
There’s no more industrial place to visit, imo... Very steampunkish, rusty-beautiful. Whoever is responsible to make it available to see and walk around, a big thank you! Such a cool adventure to see the giant old machinery, pipes, and buildings... Awesome architecture!
Time to come again. Reopened after Corona and almost empty. Extremely fotogenic. And missing Landek mine once in Ostrava? No, no!
A lot of space, many things to do. Few cafés to make your visit even sweeter.
Must see jewel of infustrial arch
Extraordinary place. Admission is free to walk through the whole area. Admission of 150 czk for U46 building y but worth to see the exhibits there. Also an admission is charged for the tower with its view and cafe included (it makes sense to have a reservation on crowded days, otherwise you might not be able to get in). Also good for a family visit.
Nice caffe at the top and amazing view
Very nice museum a "Science Museum" look an feel, at a smaller scale.
Really impressive former ironworks. You can pay to go to the cafe at the top but its more than enough just to wander around between the old furnaces and marvel at the sheer scale of it. Fascinating place.
Place is really awesome, its a must see while traveling through Czech Republic. Prices are reasonable.
Gorgeous industrial scenery. Great events.
A very interesting place to visit. Unfortunately, the World of Technics (Svet technikyis closed on Mondays (2019and we were there on a monday. It is a reason to return 😊 At least, we made it up to the Bolt tower and enjoyed a magnificent view of the city and its surroundings.
Very interesting place, take the guided tour to the metal forge tower.
Must see place in Ostrava. Guided tour (restricted areain English need to be preagreed. Tour is a bit too much technical detailed, but it worth it. Anyway there are boards around area so you can take self guided tour and just enjoy the place. I am recommending to end tour in cafe and/or pub close to Cineport to get refreshed!
Many events take place here, such as music festival Beats for love or Colours of Ostrava. This place has beautiful industrial atmosphere, when you walk between old rusty buildings and pipelines. Its also great place for chilling with friends in the area or in a few cafés.
It is a really interesting site to see. Its worth it taking a look around the area at all the rusty machines and towers. I havent been on any of the available guided tours of the complex, but a visit to Bolt Tower is worth it even though the prices of items in its cafe are quite high (but you have 100 czk worth prepaid in your ticketand I got a little scared on the platforms going around the tower (theres also the highest accessible point in Ostrava!)
Best place for festival in Czech Republic, we really enjoyed beats for love
Best and the most interesting place to visit in Ostrava!!
The best industrial complex in the Czech Republic. Old furnaces and equipment from 20th century. Most of the parts renovated and attractive for visitors. It is a place for many events like Colours of Ostrava and many others. Or just come and enjoy the specific atmosphere.
A must-see piece of history. Czech or English guides are done by very friendly and well educated guides. There are three options for tours (hour long to 3 hours longwhich are reasonably priced. The area has also many other activities - cafes, restaurants, and many events or festivals.
Its a great piece of the history of Ostrava, I highly recommend giving this place a visit. Some of the attractions might be the bolt tower with a beautiful view of a big part of Ostrava or one of the science and technology centres, no matter your age you will surely find a way to enjoy this beautiful place
Smelting foundary is amazing....but....if you dont speak Czech the audio guide is pants. Also...if like me...you dont like heights DONT go up the Bolt Tower. Otherwise place is fantastic and highly recommended.
The remain of previous industrial area offer great place for a walk and few coffee places around and other cultural activities can bring you here for much more then seeing high furnaces.I never miss this area when I am in Ostrava a interestingly it is becoming better and better everytime I come.
Great abandoned factory. Guided tour is good but not necessary. Unique feeling near that gigantic industrial sculptures. And great coffee in the new Cøcaffe place.
Must see for people who like industrial heritage.
We were amazed of that place everything was so big. Lots to do with kids. Nice people who were helpful and supportive .worth it!
The industrial zone and tour are worth the time to see! Tour lasts about 2 hours and guides you through a lot of the facilities. You get to climb to the Bolt Tower, which offers an amazing view!
Great idea to reorganise old plant to wonderful creative place.Exhibitions, cafe, public music box!
Insustrial area. Old factory accesible as a town park. Good for interesting ruins photos.
Truly unusual experience, worth visiting. They could make it easier on foreign tourists by including instructions in English where to go etc. but its not a big deal.
Probably one of the best places of its kind on earth. This old and perfectly maintained industrial site offers a unique atmosphere and beauty. The guided tour is very interesting but the area is also an important cultural landmark. Experiencing a festival in these surroundings is simply amazing. Check out the festival schedule (Colors, Beats For Love, Majales, ...).
It was disappointing. They said it was good for kids as young as 3 but that is way off. It dirty, a lot of the attractions were broken and even dangerous for very small children. They didnt seem to try very hard to make it interesting at all. They could, if they wanted, make it awesome there, but they just dont have the creativity.
Very interesting place, worth a half or even full day here. The info place by the side of the car park has guided tours and English headphones. The top of the tower has a couple of nice little coffee places. The signs are in Czech, German and English. The English send to have come from Google translate.
Really interesting place to visit. It was great to walk in and amongst the old steelworks.
You can visit it, very interesting :-)
Pretty cool area with massive heritage. 110% steampunk inspiration, with worn down rusty steel pipes and stuff. You get an excellent view of Ostrava and surrounding areas. Our guide spoke pretty good English. You can get a beer at the top cafe and bar 😉
When in operation, very much hell on earth and a place to stay away from, today an impressive place. Best to-visit place in Ostrava.
Really good way how to discover Ostrava! Perfect view from the Bolt tower!
Unique opportunity to visit such an industrial area. Several tours through the area, view tower or 2 science & technology expositions incl. very nice area for children (even younger than 2 years will enjoy it very much).Guided tours start every 2 hrs. Visit of the view tower is limited by number of actual visitors. You might need to wait to get a ticket.Visit of the science museum takes you 4hrs. Tours about 2hrs.
Great place Julius Verne - Steel City
This is where festival Colours of Ostrava happens, this is where the Bolt Tower stands. All round repurposed urban spot with many offerings. Very cool place.
