The Zetland Hotel - Brasserie in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom
One of the most beautiful restaurants in the UK! Main dining room is hidden away at the back in a beautiful tiled room. Food is high quality and great value. Really relaxing atmosphere and a lovely pub at the front of the building as well. Would highly recommend and great to see the Zetland at the heart of old Middlesbrough’s transformation!
A great find whilst waiting for our train, its just a short walk to the station. Fabulous old building. We had a drink in the bar which was very comfortable and good beer. Also had a peek at the restaurant which was beautiful. Really friendly welcome.
Went for a meal at Christies. There was one other couple in on a late weekend evening, it felt pretty dead. The room is lovely however, it feels very golden era authentic, good lighting and music choice. Menu is limited which is fine but we were immediately told 2 mains are not available and upon ordering our starter and mains that there were not enough mussels... but this would be made up with haddock to fill it out. This was delicious to be fair (just not what we ordered). Pork parmo was OK, nothing to shout about in comparison to other Teesside venues. Cocktails were excellent. The one staff member we saw from start to finish was a lovely young lad, very well meaning but didnt have any idea when questioned on the menu (be it food or drinks), a lot of backwards and forwards to the kitchen. All in all, an average experience.
Tables all close together which means pints get spilt asked 3 times for mop cloth and other equipment to be able to clean our self won’t be coming again waste money at time wish I never went in dress got soaked in fact full outfit including shoes I should be paid back what I spent plus charge for new shoes and dry cleaning
Great service, lovely home cooked style food at very reasonable prices. Interesting decor, very clean. The only reason I have only given 4 stars and not 5 on this occasion was the dining area and toilets smelt quite badly of damp during our visit. Hopefully this was a one off as the food and service was good enough I would love to go again and perhaps increase my rating to 5 stars!
We booked the brasserie for our Wedding Breakfast and were glad we did! From the outset, Philip was so helpful in understanding what we wanted and was incredibly accommodating when planning a meal for 40+ people including vegetarian, vegan and and coeliac guests. The brasserie room is frankly gorgeous and we could not have asked for a better place or atmosphere to celebrate our special day.Philip and the team were attentive and the service was excellent. He went above and beyond, even taking a group photo of the wedding party as well as giving us a lovely keepsake before we left. For the time we were there, we had the building to ourselves without interruption and it really was just the perfect start to our married life. The food as ever was amazing; it wasnt our first time at The Zetland it certainly wont be the last!
What a good find! We enjoyed a wonderful meal at a reasonable price, freshly cooked and friendly knowledgeable service. The building has been beautifully restored - loved the tiles! Within east reach of both the station and central Middlesbrough. Highly recommend!
3 friends enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch in the Brasserie today - it was EXCELLENT! Beautifully presented and every course was super tasty..12 out of 10 to the Chef and his team. The stunning Victorian decor of this handsome 19th Century building, plus waiter Philips wonderful stories of Middlesboroughs history, only added more flavour to the whole wonderful culinary experience! Please treat yourselves and book a table today!!
Nice pub. Great wines and good atmosphere
Fantastic turn of the 19th century decor. Very good set menu plus plenty of choice à la carte. Like how all menu and wine options are on your place mat. Pear tart to die for. Great service.
Ordered parmo seemed abit burnt and crispy which staff sed its the breadcrumbs we use , chips were lovely but wasnt fussed about parmo, my partner ad fish pie and sed it was lovely, funny smell in toilets no toilet roll

Went for breakfast, superb quality food and not expensive. Beautifully restored and upgraded. Well done to the owners, very classy premises.
Michelin star quality. Chef has awards from national burger competitions, and focuses on flavourful, incredibly carefully cooked food. We stopped in for lunch and left with the best three course meal weve had all year, all for under £20 per person. Stunning 19th century building, impeccable service, and a lovely selection of wine and rum.
Wow!! Amazing food, fantastic service and beautiful interior! Im usually hard to impress when it comes to food (as my Mum is an awesome cook)....but this place is perfect. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends 😀
