The Yard Bar - Gay bar in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
We hired the upstairs area - Oscars bar and lounge for our Wedding Celebration Party. Andy, Danny and the team were fantastic and so accommodating. They really were super!Danni Delonco - Drag Queen Extraordinaire did a fabulous job as host DJ and also did a comedy sketch for us.My now Husband and I could not have been happier with many of the guests proclaiming that it had been the best wedding party they had ever been toThanks so much guys for making our day so special.I would highly recccommend the venue to anyone considering a marriage 🍾 celebration with a difference.Lots of loveRichard and Mariusz xx
Up for a wedding from Hull. Great atmosphere, all staff fab. Great night out. Dont forget to pop upstairs for a drink. Love the place x ❤️
Anywhere that can double the price a beer just because they think theyre niche. Rip off merchants.
Monday night.
Disgusting charging £5 for a pint of carling 😡 no wonder the gay scene is dieing due to greedy owners that rip customers off. The same drink was only £2.70 is the other bars.
Awful bouncer, guy was so drunk he thought he was John Wick or something. Obnoxious bar staff, I asked for a body shot and this dude just hopped up on the bar and emptied half a bottle of sambuca into his a**hole and inserted a straw.Foul behaviour. I had my grandmother with me and shes very distraught now. Definitely wont be returning.
Last week, bad mannered, doorman, drunk, not let ,me in, just brought round of drinks, cost nearly 40 pounds, had go outside, dropped, my mobile phone, out my pocket, payed fourty pounds, for nothing, should be fired given his, UB40 sacked ??!
Charged £5.80 for a pint. Avoid this hovel like the plague.
I messaged the page to see how much drinks where so even just some and they wouldnt tell me how much anything was just that they are competitive. Not very good customer service.
Spiked drinks destroyed my life! No phone wallet keys!
I’m really disappointed. Came here because my boyfriend recommended it and the drag queens are great. But the obnoxious, rude bouncers ruined my experience. Considering you’re supposed to be an all inclusive club… don’t hire bigots that abuse their power. You’re stood outside a gay bar, not guarding Alcatraz, idiots. Just be polite to people. Me and my friends won’t be coming back if we see those bigots on the door. Spend your money elsewhere.
Really lovely atmosphere, good beer selection. Only stopped in for a quick one while visiting town on my own but will be back.
Loved this bar. It had such a cool vibe and the drinks were reasonably priced too. We’ll definitely be back!
Had some great pre-drinking times in here with friends, although not always the best place
Went last night for first time as visiting Newcastle. Really nice bar and atmosphere- certainly would recommend and will visit again 😀
Fantastic team, great atmosphere and great night!Cant fault the team at all, 10/10 would drink again! Never felt so welcome in a bar 🥰No idea what I had to drink but it was green and amazing (my friend bought it for me)!
Dreadful disabled facilities, dirty, messy, used for a broom cupboard and not worthy of a disabled toilet. Along with the enormously huge key fob caused embarrassment to users. I will not be visiting again
Just came over from the blonde barrel, (which was good fun)..as we wanted to try a different gay bar during our trip to Newcastle....Really bad service. Unprofessional, rude, unfriendly, unhelpful staff...we are just waiting here, no service, no drinks. Empty tables inside, but they wont let us take one...We do not feel very welcomeNo point wasting anymore time...we have gone to Switch....much better...
Love this place, nice and chilled.
Great atmosphere and service thanks guys :)
Jack served me and all my friends tonight (17/05/21and he was the most polite, helpful person ever! he was so lovey and i 100% think he is amazing at what he does!!
Fantastic bar with great attentive staff and a nice atmosphere. Its been around a long time and it shows. Door policy is good - everyone is welcome but dont act out whilst you are there as youll be out on your ear!
Used to be regular here. But everytime we go recently there is always trouble brewing. Drag queens fighting. Terrible attitudes of staff, very clicky atmosphere, if your face doesnt fit then you can expect to be bullied and belittled. Wont be back.
Came here years ago and it was good. Today I called ahead to make sure it was open owing to present circumstances. Turned up tonight and was told it was fully booked. No warning of needing to book was made. Exactly the same situation at their partner bar. Forced to go home. A wasted night out. This is a terrible attitude for a business opening after lockdown.
Expensive with unenthusiastic staff with a poor attitude. Variable quality of drag queens. Seems to have resorted to pushing shots so hard its painful; having been there an hour I must have said no about 10/12 times
Nice bar and I got asked for I.D LoL, still a fun place and the staff were fun also
Great city centre pub with a great community feel for nearly 4 decades! Entertainment and great drinks offers all the time, the bottles of house wines are now legendary.
The drag queen that was on this evening was absolutely vile.. I have been drinking here for more than 20 years and never in my days here have I heard anyone say go hang yourself...... to a customer ... no wonder the gay scene is disappearing....
To get a funny and to be happy
A bar everyone goes to.
This is a brilliant place to visit in Newcastle the staff are extremely friendly it as a friendly atmosphere
Male gay mainly.
Beautiful man
absolutely shite
Nice pub with a great atmosphere. People are very friendly, drink choices and prices are good.
Went in, last night (Sat 17 May 15), at around midnight. Stood at the bar but the Barman was busy eating his crisps and talking to his friend at the other end of the bar. Eventually I walked around to him to get served.I ordered a vodka and red bull for me and a coffee for my friend who was driving. The coffee machine was switched on and the bar not very busy but the Barman said he couldnt do coffee as the machine was broken, I ordered a bottle of water instead. He then totted up the price in his head and said £7.10 please. I said "£7.10" and he replied "oh no, its £6.10 sorry"Not a great experience on what otherwise was a really good night out in Newcastle. A real shame as I used to visit this bar frequently when I lived in Newcastle - even as far back as when it was The Courtyard.
