The Wreck Restaurant - Restaurant in Swakopmund, Namibia
The Service was good location is Very good. Unfortunately the food was below average. Fish was over done portion size was small. Kingklip off cuts. Periperi Livers were a mash of Livers with no flavour. Not Peri peri at all. Pork Fillet was totaly over done. We asked for medium. Not enjoyable. And very stuffy with no way of openeing a window when the restaurant is packed.
Fantastic. We had sole and kingklip/calamari combo, oysters. From the car park to the end of the meal it was a wonderful experience. Welcoming and friendly staff, efficient service. Prices on point with quality and portion size. We could not have asked for anything more!!! Going back for our anniversary!
The restaurant called “the wreck” is a panoramic restaurant on the first floor of a boat inspired building.Good experience, good food and interesting location although with two points for improvement. The plus:- fish was fresh and exceptionally tasty.- many options, from surf and turf to salads, from the fish of the day to game meat, from pasta to a Wiener schnitzel (for kidsand all very tasty.- the location is nice and from the large windows you can have a great view of the ocean.- staff is kind and professionalThe minuses:- unfriendly experience upon arrival, the guy at the entrance gave the impression of a disco bouncer more than the owner of a restaurant which should welcome you, share a few words etc.- as I said the food was good (kudos to the chefs), the only minus was the ice cream which was really bad. The strawberry scoop was the worst offender, it had a “bubble gum” flavor and weird small bits (which were not seeds). Make your own ice-cream, a syrup based one with a ice-cream maker is 10 times better than that chemical madness.
Beautiful restaurant. The view is very good and also the food. Strongly recommend it!
Classy, professional and friendly staff as well as delicious food
Excellent service and food. Make sure you go for sunset!
The wreck I think is also a very nice place to visit for dinner, also fantastic viewe.
Oysters for starters, fresh and so good! Mains we had the seafood platter for two -- The food was divine AND an absolute steal at that price! Desert showed that extra touch of care and knowing your returning customers. The staff is friendly, caring and professional, and then there is the view........ You have to visit!!
The service was great and the staff was very welcoming. The food was divine.
Womderful atmosphere at both the main restaurant and the Café at the bottom. Great food and quality service.
UPDATE from last night - Food poisoning from Mussel starter as added bonus !!!Original post : They got the food badly wrong tonight . The chef flatly refused to accept any feedback or take responsibility for messing up two main courses twice and then serving old inedible deserts . The Kudu steak was first served well done when Med/rare was requested - then redone only to come back completely rare . The Kingklip was soggy , salty and completely over cooked with oil/butter oozing from the risotto. The chocolate mousse resembled oats with chocolate Nesquick mixed in and tasted similar. The caramelised lemon tart was bone dry and tasteless - seemingly left out of the fridge and uncovered from the day before .The Chef was keen to tell the manager what to do with the customer feedback - unfortunately in earshot of said customer. The manger and serving staff tried their best but with a team like that in the kitchen it’s an impossible taskHence I strongly suggest to dine elsewhere .
Really good prices on food, Calamari and fish basket always a hit... Staff friendly
Beautiful view and nice Food.
Been there a few times, great service each time. Staff and setting very professional! Amazing view of the ocean. Interior stunning. Delicious food! Overall a great and chilled atmosphere.
Had the best food here in Swakopmund. The ambiance of the place was amazing, eating while looking at the waves was such a beautiful experience. The service was also excellent. Definitely going back here again.I recommend trying the Rooibos crème brûlée.
The view was amazing. Food is really well prepared and tasty. I could eat there every day if only to observe the sunset. The waiting staff are good, efficient and unobtrusive.
Restaurant with a nice view. You should go and watch the sunset from the restaurant. We both had the catch of the day : kabeljauw. It was tasteful. The staff was very friendly. We had a nice time.
Beautiful view with an exceptional menu for both culinary and wine selection and great service and friendly staff. New favorite restaurant for us as local residents.
The food was good, waiters are very nice but the man who sits at the front of the restaurant upstairs is very rude. Treated us as if we were not paying customers on 2 occasions. I would give 5 stars if it weren’t for that man. He is really hurting the business.
Outstanding. The Wreck provides the most delicious meals and outstanding service. With sunset views over the ocean this is very special restaurant indeed.
I only dined at The Wreck for their buffet breakfast which was plentiful and fresh with a variety of items to choose from. Its the floor-to-ceiling windowed view that impressed me most - stunning in a foggy cool morning above the seashore - and perfect to sit at and sip a morning coffee.
Service was slow, fortunately weather was glorious. Latest table additions are comfortable and give great view of surfers falling off their boards!
Service on 1st night was extremely slow but food was exceptional. 2nd night (stayed at beach lodgethe Service was excellent due to different waitress and was very enjoyable. Thank you
Under pressure service due to curfew but still a lovely experience.
Enjoyed the food and everything else very much. The view is fantastic.
Very exciting building that looks like the front of a ship. The staff that welcomed us was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere inside was very serene and conducive to an evening of focussed purpose. The food was excellent. They deserved 5 stars had it not been for the very unfriendly person through whom we made a booking earlier on! We were almost deceived.Great place for family dinner, romantic evening or business meet.
Delicious food, great service.....good vibe and excellent beach view.
My family and I shared my mothers 50th Birthday here and the venue was peaceful, they had a seat for a baby which was really helpful. Also, the waitress was very joyful, respective and served us extremely well. The food was decent and all well prepared. Would definitely go again.
Hidden gem! Good food, friendly staff and incredible views. The rooms are beautiful and super clean. What a treat falling asleep to the oceans waves. I would highly recommend them!
Nice and peaceful. Wonderful view during the day. A bit pricey but definitely worth the quality and the service.
Seriously? Charging very high prices for fish thats not fresh. Sent the Cob back. We were offered the even more expensive Kingklip which was borderline and not enjoyable either. The chef came to apologize, which was commendable but we will rather eat at home in future.
Its nice the food are walaaa delicious
I was there with a group of friends, none of them enjoyed their food. They had ordered the Rib Eye Steak, Fish Curry and The chicken and prawn combo. I had ordered the Castaway Fish Stew which was the best meal on the table. The guy at the front desk doesnt look too friendly though (Fake Smile towards "Brown" people, if you know what I mean.)The view is magnificent though. Will I be coming back? Nope!
Exceptional view, food and service was amazing. Our group enjoyed every minute.
The sea view was awesome. Food and sevice great. Staff very friendly. Make sure you follow google maps well
Amazing the view, the FOOD and the serviceNamibia can learnAttention to detailLove itHighly recommendedFavourite dinning place in Swakop when here.Try it you will not regret it!!!
Wow!!It’s been a long while that it’s an absolute blessing to dine at a restaurant and the service is that great.I mean, the staff... and the manager... oh boy the food...Thank you for the great service. The staff really knows what they are doing and they do it with such elegance and perfection. Would love to come back soon and enjoy another evening filled with wine and a scrumptious dinner.Keep up the great service.
Food was great, staff was attentive and friendly; view is spectacular!
The Manager of the restaurant is very unwelcoming and unprofessional. Did not even apologize for his behavior. The only reason we stayed was because the waiters were much much better.......I couldnt believe it. It was like the manager didnt want customers.
Nice setting and very great staffs. But restaurant mananger was so disgusting and had a bad attitude to his staff and customer.
Beautiful view and great staff. The food is fantastic
Nice location at the beach. From reading different ratings I really was curious about this restaurant. For a "higher standard" it was a inadequate welcoming from a guy who sat behind a counter who didnt stand up und spoke a really nonunderstanding and very fast english. He was sorry he has no free table we could sit at the bar. He didnt gave a prospect of a free table. We sat on the bar and we were served from really nice waiters and we were lucky and got a table 10min later. The people are normal dressed and it isnt something special. The food was okay. But the cook should google what a carpaccio is. The steak wasnt medium. Its not the chaepest restaurant for namibia standard but it isnt worth the money. The best about the restaurant are the really friendly waiters.
Nice setting. Good service. Had oysters for appetizer which was good but the line catch of the day (yellowtailwas terrible. Overcooked and didnt taste fresh at all.
Excellent food, made a booking via sms at 08:00 for a table with a sea view, phoned at 09:30 to confirm the booking. Arrived at 19:30 a table but not a sea view. Should contact the person if not available. No appolliges given.
This restaurant is a hidden gem located far into the residential area of swakopmund. Food is very good, price a lot above average, astonishing views over the ocean. Service was good. Overall the menu is unqiue with a fair selection of foods. I recommend to eat seafood at the Wreck. Big wine menu as well
Great food, good price and excellent service. We loved it. Surely one of our favorites so far on our Namibia trip.
We were there two days ago for dinner, in the beginner it was really nice we did not book a table but they arranje one for us ( thank you so mutchbut at the end we felt a bit disappointed , we paid and we waited for the change ( that we decide already give to the staffand for the invoice . They never show up to give us neither the change or the invoice ... then we asked and they came and sad that is not possible to give the invoice???!!!! We were speetchless how come... and they sad ok we will email you the invoice that we still waiting. After all this my friend needed a lighter and they try to sell the old one for twenty NAD... a part of this the restaurant is very nice but I think the staff atitude has to improve .
Good food, sophisticated atmosphere, amazing view, fast service, well educated staff and always a pleasure
So glad this place has opened again, really enjoy eating here with friends or family. Amazing views, and 5 star food. Got to be tops in Swakopmund.A MUST
High points: the view, DessertLow points: They do not have tartar sauce or ketchup. We ordered several things that we did not get.
