Strip-mall bar delivering specialty drinks in a hunting lodge-style space with antler chandeliers.
Atmosphere, Ambiance, people and drinks was Great. I Highly recommend stopping by for a drink or two. Bartender was Great.
Security guard didnt let us go in and have a shot because he saw us having a tall can prior from the liquor. 👏👏 good job grizzly adams rent-a-cop
It was an alcohol selling location, which is bad for me because I dont drink alcohol, and socio-economically try to stay away from those places as much as possible, but no worries; I think the main concern was the customer service there, it was kind of rude;
Excellent spot and very friendly bartenders
Charm, Nostalgia, comfort and style. And the bartenders are super nice!
The atmosphere was a little weird; I was staring at a taxidermy owl with fake eyes and no legs while I drank whiskey. It was weird.
NO music at all. Not kidding.Like a silent bar hahaha
Great drinks and service cool security"Whats up Ed"
Nice place for unwinding. Good happy hour prices, and the juke box has great music selections.
Really cool place. Would not expect it from the exterior. The ambiance is incredible inside real dim lights. Feels like youre in the woods almost. The drinks are really really good and reasonably priced. The whiskey drinks are really good. They have a really cool thing going at this place and Im excited to go back
My local watering hole, although its in Hollywood theres none of that uppity BS here. They have happy hour till 10! I have seen dancing here and a DJ on the weekends. Great first date spot (especially during happy hour 😉). Friendly doorman, bartenders and for a bar its pretty clean. Dont expect anything too fancy, just get a shot and a drink and enjoy!
depends on what youre looking for, but i found the interior kitschy and the atmosphere poorly curated -- the light funk music clashed with the classy / earthy interior design.if youre just looking for a drink with a decent enough vibe, itll get the job done. but theres plenty of room for improvement.oh and the bouncer was really nice :)
The last straw was today. So, I love supporting local business and I discovered The Wood last year during covid19. I thought their prices were a bit high compared to other BBQ spots in the area, but I didnt mind just as long as it was worth it. I placed an order and my husband picked it up, but when I opened it I couldnt believe the extremely small sides for the price they charged, however; the food was really good. The meat is tender and the sides I got had a pretty good flavor. During the upcoming months, I continued to order but almost always had an issue when I did. Please know that this place hardly ever answers the phone, so you need to text your order (hope they get itor go in person. The last time I ordered (before todaythey forgot my macaroni and cheese and the owner told me next time I come, just tell them at the counter....no problem. I also saw some very "unfair" comments about the way the owner was doing business, so I sent him a DM to give him the heads up so he could make the correction. He never thanked me which I thought was extremely rude, being that the situation could have gotten bad very quick. Anyway, I continued to support. Today I ordered 2 dinners which totaled $60 (2 meats & 2 sidesand if you want cornbread, you need to pay for it separately. When my husband paid for the food, he informed the girl at the counter about the mac and cheese we didnt receive last time. The girl ignored him so he mentioned it again and she told him "that they are very careful with the orders"..in other words "you not getting anything". My husband didnt argue with her, instead he left. The food today was not good! My ribs were cold and my chicken had a pink in it!! I promise you... I will never support this business again. Everyone makes a choice where they want to spend their money...and in my opinion he is robbing the community. The Woods food have not been "up to standard". Like I said Never again. If I could make a claim through my bank to get my money back, I would!
Love this place! You think it is going to be a dive bar from the outside and then you walk into this lovely wooden lodge-style bar. Strong drinks and friendly bartenders. Each night is very different from the next...so it might be a quiet night you can chat with friends with jukebox requests or a DJ might be spinning and a mini dance floor ensues... But always fun!
Nice dive and great atmosphere. Great drinks. Bartenders are polite.
Love the bar want to come back soon. But the dj music tonight (1st Febcouldn’t be more run of the mill disco cheese. Could so easily be so much better!
The bar is really cool and catchy, but I was disappointed with the female bartender she wasnt really friendly not only that, but I put some money in the jukebox and she skipped my songs so I thought that was really rude, especially because I was waiting for my songs to drink my Santa Mónica XPA!So sad :( I left!
I have to say, I was really pleased with this place. The drinks were fantastic, and we had several! However, I have to say our bartender was great! He really made the whole experience fun. This place is cool, cozy, and just a great spot
Perfect chill spot and your own DJ some nights thanks to the jukebox
I really want to love this place. Its divey, but nice, - cool decor and ambience. I used to come here with friends for a chill place to have a drink and a conversation. The only problem is with the conversation part - almost every time Ive come by, mostly on weekdays, its been pretty dead, with probably less than 10 patrons, but the DJ is playing the music so loud you have to yell to talk to the person next to you. Its like comically loud. No one is really listening to it or dancing or anything - everyone is trying to talk to their friends because its a dive bar, not a concert or a rave. Its so weird. I go to a ton of shows and blast my eardrums to music I actually like... No way I want to go deaf meeting friends for drinks on a Tuesday. I might try going back sometime in case this changes because this place has so much potential to be my go-to spot, with just one very loud flaw.
It looks like a whole in a wall but once you walk in its a completely different story. Great decor. Good prices. It reminds me of The Falls bar in DTLA
Warm cozy atmosphere with the beat bartenders you can get in this price range. No food here but there is a great thai food a pot and sushi spot right across the street. Sushi is $22 all you can eat!
I love a hole in the wall bar. They made the most perfect g&ts here. Atmosphere was awesome. Bartenders were super nice and charming. Definitely here for their happy hour - it ends at like 10pm!
Loved this place I am definitely going back there when in the LA area. Awesome bartender and overall clean bar. Nice and descent crowd to socialize with, good promos and they also have a jukebox with a pretty descent music library, so you can go ahead and play your favorite records to make sure youre listening to what you like.
Hip bar in the heart of Hollywood with a mixed crowd of hipsters, locals and tourists. Jukebox Style music, meaning you suffer with whatever choices have been picked and the crab can range from fun too annoying depending upon the evening. Drinks are decent and with the overall ambiance, its worth stopping by.
Love this place, it looks like you walked into the seventies. At the same time they have good DJs on the weekends, cool crowd. But if you want to just chill and have a couple of drinks during the week... Yes!
Not bad, small bar with average prices and cute interior decorations. The music might seem too loud, especially if so called DJ is having a set, the bar isn’t the best one if you are looking for a place to TALK with your friends, but fine for drinking.
Cute atmosphere, woods-themed and dark - no windows or TVs. Makes for a spot that is a bit divey with a neighborhood feel. Friendly bartenders. Great music and a jukebox. Only negative for me is no beer on tap, only bottled. No food in-house, but you can get delivery from a cafe in same complex and fine to bring in food from taco truck in front or ice cream store next door.
Loooove this place. Any given night u can see a big celebrity just hanging out. Bartenders are hot and really good service and vibe. This is a “IT” place for sure.
Very cool, small little bar. Bathroom area smells horrendous but what do you expect. Service was nice, decor is cool.
Honestly a really cool bar! Came here on a date once and it was my favorite one too. One of the bartenders (dont remember his namewas really nice and cool.
This vibrant bar in the heart of Hollywood not only brings a magical feeling of being in the woods right in the middle of the city but has wonderful hosts like Chris, she is so helpful and pleasant conversation doesnt begin to describe the level of hospitality. Great drinks, great prices and right out front is a delicious taco truck. You just cant lose. Win win win
We stumbled across this place late at night and ended up coming back the next 3 nights. Theres no big tvs or lame advertisments. No tacky bright lights. Just a cool place to talk and chill. Really cool vibe and bar staff. Even security was cool.
Best neighborood bar in miles. Cheap drinks, awesome selection of rock music and kind and open attitude of everyone behind the counter.
Great place for late night drinks. No windows or TVs, so people and staff that are always up for a chat. Finish off here most nights and the taco truck out the front is amazing aswell
Love this bar! Great decoration and people. If you never been there you MUST go !!!we just went to the ice cream shop next door to kill time. Their specialty drink menu was kinda standard and could have been better, but overall, good experience!
I have lived two blocks from The Woods for almost two years and this was the first time I stepped inside.Very cool vibes and really interesting, mixed clientele. Drinks were a little pricey for a dive bar but they were super strong and served with a smile! Cool music and pretty happening for 1.00am on a Friday morning. I will definitely come back again for another drink.
This bar is such a contradiction. I like it because it feels like my neighborhood bar, but at the same time its trying to be fancy and its not cheap. The clientele is very eclectic and the music is all over the place but definitely very far from both the WeHo and the Hollywood scene. Red points for the jukebox.
Great ambiance created with dim lights, lots of wood furniture including unique pieces, and a decent cocktail list. Theyve got a surprising list of whiskeys and scotches, although not impressive, but more that what you might expect from a place like this. Crowd is mixed, some locals and some hipsters. A good place for a drink or two to start the nite.
Loved everything about this bar! Kevin my bartender for the night poured up some excellent Jameson and Cokes, and delivered great service. From the outside,it looks like a mess but its actually quite cool and trendy on the inside. They did an amazing job on the wooden decor !
The ambiance of this place is incredible. Petrified wood stools, booths, dim lighting and a chandalier made out of deer horns. The people that drink there are everyday behind the scenes entertainment folks so its not just another pretentious Hollywood bar but you can stike up a cool convo with the opposite sex or whatever your into
The service was ok the place and people were great. Dj man was playing random but good music. Fan of the place, I had a great time with friends and co-workers. Might make it back someday.
We found the bar while touring the area. The bar is very dark when you walk inside but that gives it a good ambience. Drinks are reasonable and the music was great.
Hole in the wall Bar. Doesnt look like much from the outside, but its nicer on the inside. Super loud music so its hard to talk. Feels more like a bar than a lounge. They do have some good drinks.I got the Woods, which was whiskey and some mint leaves. Good but watered down, so I dont feel like it justifies for the price they charge. They have seats/couches around, so you can sit there if a space opens up. Its not really a place I would normally come to with big groups.
Dark, dingy, dive bar. I say I dont drink, but I may have a little tipple a couple times a year. I was enticed to come here with a friend offering to buy me a drink. Not willing to pass up a good thing, we hoofed it over here from Madame Tussauds.Inside, a non-descript lounge is what greeted me. Very dark, I managed to read the menu & notice their drink specials. Its been so long that I forgot what drink I had, but it came out right away.I found it funny & a stroke to my ego when the bartender asked for my ID. Its all that clean living, I tells ya ;pWe didnt stay too long, as we were just killing time before an event. Im not a barfly, however I think The Woods does the trick for those looking for a drink
Great, unassuming place in a strip mall with a nice vibe, great servers and excellent Whiskies. Really good DJ but, and Im sorry in advance, talking over tunes is injecting yourself into the set...And I want to hear the great tunes you play. Youre really good, mate. Just play. Dont keep doing mutes, stutters, repeated samples of Johnny Weismuller doing the Tarzan call, IDs, and irrelevant announcements. You are talented with your music flow. Once in a while is part of the gig and things like announcing last call are essential, but if one calls something out over the PA every 4-8 bars...Cmon. You know. That said...cool place.
One of the more random bars Ive been to in LA. The bar is located in a dead strip mall. When you walk in the doors you are completely amazed with what youve walked in to. Its a hip, stylish bar with good drinks and interesting people. Dont judge a book by its cover.
This is a great venue. The jukebox has good tunes and the atmosphere is really friendly. Ive always managed to hang out here with work buddies when visiting. Sure its in a weird place but thats also the appeal.
While not as bad as some bars, this former neighborhood dive (the "Lava Lounge"has been transformed into a hive of wannabe actors and directors with egos more inflated than the drink prices. The bouncers can also be a bit controlling by denying entry to people for seemingly arbitrary reasons, such as violating the non-existant dress code. The forest-themed decor is pretty sweet though.
Relaxing atmosphere, friendly bartenders, Long happy hour! But, avoid the food menu - they have no kitchen, so items you order off the menu are called in by the bartender to a cafe in the same plaza and delivered to you.
