Media types descend here for Modern European food, afternoon tea and grand art deco glamour.
Fabulous afternoon tea! 36£ for normal set tea. They also give you refills if you want it. We will definitely be back
I went with some friends to have breakfast and we all got the English Breakfast. We all thought that it was average to say the best. It didn’t even looked tasty and was a bit cold. I would say that the best part was the bacon. Coffee was also ok. Overall the place decoration is really nice and its on a great location but food was subpar. Service for instance was really good, they even took care of our luggage, but having paid more than 30£ per person and comparing it with what we had, I would not return.
Really lovely place to come for some afternoon tea! They promptly showed us to our seats when we arrived for our reservation. The front desk concierge was very friendly and kind, but honestly the only one who was. While we enjoyed the tea service, we were barely offered refills for the soon lukewarm tea, and when we tried to flag a waiter down, they made eye contact, then proceeded to wait on other tables. It was a long ordeal to even get a to-go box and our check. Overall, the service was lacking, but quite a lovely experience with tea.
My go-to breakfast place if I want to have breakfast or brunch around Central London. The restaurant’s interiors never fail to amaze and the food, while pricey, is a part of the overall experience.Definitely get the Eggs Benedict, Wolseley Fish Cake Benedict, and Omelette Arnold Bennett. It’s a shame they don’t serve the Eggs Arlington anymore, I really liked that dish.I know it’s also a popular restaurant for Afternoon Tea shop and it’s at the affordable side, but you get what you pay for as I didn’t find anything special about the food served.Go for the breakfast, save up for a better afternoon tea experience elsewhere. The restaurant still gets 5 stars from me for breakfast.Apologies for the photos. Just had to take these quickly during a breakfast meeting, they taste better than the photos I took!
Beautiful traditional brasserie with afternoon tea. As its very crowded, the noise level is high. I loved the traditional ambiance, the high ceilings, the courteous waiters and the quality of the afternoon tea I had. The tea is served in silver teapots and the scones as well as the pastries are great.
Beautiful dining room. Excellent and attentive service. Food was very good. They open until 12am. You can order brunch, a la cart or Prix fixe meals. Salmon Rillettes was delicious, Dorade was perfectly cook. The price is incredibly reasonable. LOVE this restaurant.
Very nice, classic English experience. The restaurant has a nice ambience and setting. Our English breakfast was alright - nothing to shout about. You would probably want to come here for the experience rather than the food.
Food was alright. Nothing spectacular to shout about. If youre a tourist like me and youre planning to come here, Id recommend you to visit at least once. The decor is well worth it, service was decent. Black coffee was the best we had in London during our 4 days trip.
Enjoyable breakfast for sure, however I won’t need any lunch!! Good service from the staff as well as very friendly. Not quite sure if the serving implements (toast rack & coffee potsare meant to be bent and falling apart but by the looks of the toilets it does need a little bit of a makeover in my opinion.
Breakfast was really good. Service is great, stuff is helpful and caring, not fast but normal enough that you dont wait much. Inside ambiance is amazing. Prices are a bit higher after covid pandemic especially for eggs that you need to choose small or large for 1-2 muffins/eggs. I would like to visit for afternoon tea to try pastries 🤤
Lovely experienceWe tried egg Benedict and avo toast! The best Egg Benedict i have ever tried! And the atmosphere is so niceVery great choice for a family weekend breakfast! The food and the coffee is yummyI would definitely come again
Had the best French Toast breakfast ever1nicely located2the interior decoration was a major turn off with no outdoors seating area3friendly staff4slow service5very delicious food with a large variety menu to choose fromI highly recommend this place
I love this place. You can dress smart or smart-casual. It really has the classic- exquisite London feel. The staff were faultless- very knowledgeable about their menu, not rushing you but, were always at hand when needed. The food was exquisite. I have been previos time prior to this visit and it never fails to disappointment me.
Beautiful restaurant,We ordered their fish of the day which was very good. But their flank steak 🥩 was a bit chewy and tasteless.I had a French Martini which was very good and wine selection was also pretty good.Creme brûlée was very good too.Service wasn’t the best, the serve looked very unhappy to be there and it wasn’t very warming.Good experience but wouldn’t return.
After many failed attempts at trying to find last minute reservations for my birthday at my favorite restaurants, I decided to try the wolsely since I’ve never had it before. The staff are lovely and welcoming, and the atmosphere is calming, I ordered the sea bass which was perfectly cooked, as well as the Battenberg cake.A great place for solo diners like me, as I did not feel anxious being there alone :)Would definitely recommend, and I will be returning! Cheers 🥂 km
This was a great place the pancakes are a must. only issue that I had is that (and I went to this place twicethe waiters are not the best it took me a minute to flag them down and get attention but other than that the service is great. A must dine while in London. I do need to say the 1st time I went the hostess was amazing they walked me over to the bar they gave me a newspaper they were very sweet they greeted me with energetic joy so that that was a plus.
Great place to have breakfast. Nice atmosphere, great food. I loved my French toast, although I purposely chose the option of seasonal berries as a healthier option and ended up with icing sugar and a compote over the top. I know to ask for it without next time though. The service was prompt and the staff attentive but a smile from at least one of them would have been nice to see. Makes the world of difference!
Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff. Big on fish and shellfish.. Actually smelled of the sea when we walked in. Pricey but if you want to treat yourselves, go for it 👍
Went for breakfast, the staff were welcoming & pleasant. However, the quality was disappointing. First, the water served was dirty, had dirt floating in it, which we asked them to replace. Both the French toast & the pancake were burnt that no amount of maple syrup or sauce could cover the taste. It was disappointing that they decided to serve food burnt at a place with this reputation and history. The rest of the food was fine, nothing special. I don’t think I’d come back.
I went here with my wife to have a very nice anniversary brunch and we weren’t disappointed. Very friendly staff, attentive and the food was delicious. We had eggs Benedict and eggs royale. Both were very happy with our choices and as I tasted both I’d recommend the Royale (pictured).
Took the private dining room for a business lunch. A little bit of noise from the restaurant below but otherwise fantastic. A reduced a la carte menu to choose from and all the food was good. Dedicated waiter in the room with us. Dropped a star as portions were a little small and waiter was slow serving drinks on arrival. Only little things, but a place of this quality and price you expect it to be good.
I came here for dinner. It’s a beautiful space and the food was good. It is quite expensive though and not sure if it’s fully worth the money. Food lacked some flavour.
I would describe it as a 5 star plus, 5 is not enough! Delicious food, super professional staff, lovely environment. My favourite dishes have been the Eggs Arlington, and the French Toasts with berries. Highly recommend it.
We had the afternoon tea which was nice but the cheesecake melted. Battenberg and macaron were nice. Sandwiches were okay would not purchase again. However, I am visiting again for breakfast as everything else looks promising. Servers were extremely attentive. Scones are underneath the grey dome and were warm. The oysters were SUPERB.
Exquisite EggsOne of the little things I notice about the British is that they do eggs rightWhether poached, soft boiled, scrambled or fried, I never had a single egg that was over-cookedOne of the best occasions to experience great eggs is brunch and one of the great London institution’s for brunch is The WolseleyIt’s next door to the Ritz-Carlton in London’s Piccadilly and is the spot for breakfastThe signature eggs Benedict is wonderful and the variously named omelettes including the ‘Arnold Bennett’ with haddock and the ‘Adrian’ with lobster and caviar are deliciousEven the scrambled egg with the smoked salmon are great📷 Lobster and Caviar Omelette ‘Adrian’ £67.00 / Eggs Benedict £10.75 / Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs £20.50 / French Toast with Bacon £16.00📍The Wolseley (London, United Kingdom)
Yesterday, as tourists, we stopped at the Wolseley to see if we could have Cream Tea (without a reservation). They squeezed us into a small table but made it happen. All of the waitstaff were super nice, helpful, and treated us like locas. It was a fun and delicious afternoon with interesting teas and scrumptious scones.
Good food paired with great service in a very proper setting near Buckingham Palace. We went for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised at wide menu selections and variety of drinks hoy or cold. Prices are on the higher side but not unreasonable given level of service and quality of food.
Very traditional restaurant with very traditional service. The food was great and ambiance is very classy but I didn’t like the pacing of the tables. It’s way too close with other table and not very great for romantic occasion in my opinion. Tho it’s good for a day/night out with friends. Service was very prompt. The location is very nice so if u like traditional food with classy setting, this might be a good choice.
Great full English brekky! The pastries are solid and the atmosphere is perfect. Only ding from me is that the coffee wasn’t amazing. Totally recommend for the food and vibe!
Wonderful breakfast here for my birthday. Very attentive staff who noted it was my birthday and provided a little extra treat!Very accomodating if you have any special preferences. Cater for vegan and gluten free.
A very nice classic decoration and lovely atmosphere .They serve free bread and butter as a welcoming starterFood was delicious and staff were friendly. We had the Wolseley hamburger and wasvery juicy and yummy! Also, we got the eggs Arlington that were tasty!I highly recommend going there and haveBrunch !
I have always wanted to visit this famous and prestigious restaurant, whilst I was working as a young commis de cuisine at Al Ecu de France , around the corner .The restaurant was full , good vibe . Crab starter was excellent .. just simple but good , found a small piece of crab shell .. but I enjoyed it very much .The veal Holstein was ok .. the Gravy underneath was reduced heavily and was rather salty . Egg was cold and formed a skin over the yolk .My partner had the flat iron beef , this we were some what confused , it arrived as a log .. not sure why this was but was edible thank goodness .i would very much like to know what cut of beef was given .My daughter opted for the Schnitzel she thought the meat was tough and sauce was torture .( Due to the saltiness and been reduced heavily )The vegetarian dish was well enjoyed Aubergine schnitzel with cheese on sauce of tomato . Very basicDesserts were pretty average , pastry was somewhat dry . Probably slightly old ..The coupe of nougat sorbet was pretty simple .but enjoyed .An historic restaurant , service was adequate nothing out of the ordinary . That one would expect with a service charge and cover charge .
Very nice place to have breakfast and I suppose the lunch and dinner too.Employees were kind and friendly. We had our baggage and they asked if we would like to leave it there to enjoy our breakfast. The menu was cool, and the dish were a lot and very good.Thank you for this nice experience.Hopefully to come back soon!
Best scones and clotted cream Ive had! Afternoon tea here is a very pleasant experience. Food is stellar, I loved the finger sandwiches and desserts. They had very nice herbal tea infusion options. I do recommend making a reservation, but they took my party as a walk-in, we had approximately an hour wait on the Friday afternoon that we went.
What a beautiful experience! An iconic building in Piccadilly that didnt disappoint. Sympathetically restored, his interior is spectacular, reminiscent of the grand tradition. The food is very good and the service excellent, in a relaxed atmosphere.I went for dinner and I had the prix-fixe menu at £31.50, which considering the place, service and food I felt more than reasonable. I chose the salmon rilletes and pan roasted sea trout. The quality of the ingredients, presentation and execution could not be faulted. The campari & blood orange sorbet had the right acidity and sharpness. All in all, a beautiful experience and I will certainly go back, and indeed a la carte for that special occasion.
Best breakfast place in town.I love fish cake version of eggs benedict, coffee all good
This used to be an institution…We dined for afternoon tea on Sunday this weekend gone and I have to say after having been here many many times over the past few years - it was a total let down.We specifically booked this as a treat for our friends who were visiting from abroad for a few days and whom had never experienced English Afternoon Tea. It’s safe to say I was probably viewed as a clown afterwards for having chosen a venue totally contrary to their expectations let alone mine. When we entered we were greeted by two friendly members of staff, one of which showed us to our balcony table. There after the service was very hit and miss - some of the waiting staff being friendly and attentive and others mumbling and making comments as we were ordering different choices of tea.The service wasn’t exactly prompt and our requests weren’t kindly placed on the table; instead being dumped and them disappearing as quickly as possible without care back down the stairs to attend to other matters. The management seemed disorganised as after we paid our bill another member of staff returned to ask if we would like anything else before I corrected him that the bill had already been paid.In a nutshell I think this place has definitely lost its charm. The food was adequate but nothing special or glamorous like it used to be. The atmosphere was nowhere near how it was and most of the other clientele were very poorly behaved and dressed. It’s pretty evident there needs to be allot of improvement in the running of this used to be establishment for the great and the good / it’s been reduced to mere standard rubble. The decor is gorgeous but in need of a refurbishment, tables are worn as is the interior and it’s crying out for A new lease of life.To conclude - my honest recommendation would be to try somewhere else if you’re after a great afternoon tea experience and let’s hope besides being marred in recent controversies - someone does step up to revive this old Lady back to her former glory! A touch of a couple of a vintage Wolseley cars on the foyer wouldn’t do a miss!
The decor is stunning. Sadly the food and service was average. Our dinner was served lukewarm and was nothing special. The waiters seemed to be in a rush all the time, perhaps overstretched? Overall I wouldn’t categorise this as a “fine dining” experience - its “OK” and nothing more.
This place screams class. It’s cosy but open and full. It’s famous for a reason. The caviar was to die for. Excellent and attentive service. We had lived in London for years and had never tried it—now we wish we had earlier. Perfect for a special occasion.
Was chuffed to find a table on the day itself. Came for breakfast. Last year it was usually fully booked after restrictions were lifted. The place was buzzing when we arrived, it was lovely! Really enjoyed what I ordered. Had always been curious to find out what Kedgeree was all about (even tried cooking it at home). Finally here I tried the authentic version. Delicious!
Largely this restaurant was lovely. My mother treated me to lunch here for my birthday which was a lovely occasion and fabulous setting. Staff were amazing and attentive from the start and very helpful. Id like to say a particular thanks to Nathaniel who looked after us very well, was courteous, polite, genuinely interested and also had time to do the same with his other clients. Point of disappointment was with a lady who approached us as we were eating our dessert at 4:34pm (booking was at 2:30to tell us that the table was reserved and so wed have to vacate after dessert. Firstly, were eating, did not appreciate being interrupted by someone who was quite frankly hard to understand because she was wearing a mask and the restaurant was noisy. Also, table bookings are for 2 hours, so she literally pounced on us 4 mins after the two hour window to tell us that we had to vacate after dessert. This left a sour note and I think she was very rude. Our waiter was very apologetic and really went to extra lengths to ensure we could enjoy our coffees without feeling rushed another part of the restaurant. Apart from this interruption the afternoon was perfect but I do urge the Wolesely staff to think about how they speak to guests should they wish to move them on.
Best experience and food of my life! I went here with my brother for afternoon tea and it was life changing. The staff were super attentive and well versed in the menu. It was well priced especially for the food and service quality. I have already recommended this place to my friends when they visit London!
Good experience in a buzzing location. Great scones and sandwiches, lovely tea and cakes. Beautiful silverware. Good, attentive service. Only downside venue a little noisy.
An excellent place with excellent service and high quality food. A lot of the items are made with wine and me and my husband do not eat pork or drink alcohol and they put in great effort to serve us a dish without alcohol, the waiters are absolutely amazing - very kind and I would come back again just for the service of the waiters, very thankful for the effort-filled experience! Please appreciate your waiters! The doorman was also very kind, his smiles to us made our night! Please thank him for us!
Highly recommend the gnocchi, it was so good. I ordered one, my friend tried a bite and had to order one too on top of the small steak (don’t really recommend this one). Service was ok - they rush around everywhere so it’s kind of hard to get a server to attend to you.
It’s losing its charm…I’ve often been to The Wolseley for breakfast or brunch; rarely lunch or dinner but over the past few years it’s been my go to to pop in for a cheeky dessert. I love that I can order a banana split and a pot of tea and while away some time in the hustle of the 1920’s. But lately service has been slow and blunt. The food has lost its charm and there’s no longer the excitement of the table roulette when you arrive as a ‘walk in’. There are also better places for dessert in London with less pomp and circumstance. It’s a must if you’re a tourist, but only one visit is necessary to get the obligatory pictures to say you’ve been there.
Best! Beautiful building, great service, tasty classy British cuisine and very reasonable prices for that level. We paid 100 pounds for the dinner for soups, main, desserts, service and a glass of champagne. We were super full. Had a huge luck to jump in without the booking, thanks to the kindest hostess! Will come back for the afternoon tea!
The Wolseley is a great place to dine, and kicking off the day with a birthday brunch was a lovely treat and surprise for my husband. The Wolseley is incredibly decadent and lavish with a service and menu to match. The atmosphere had a real buzz and ambience to it.We were quickly seated at our table which was set so beautifully. The silverware used for serving always makes it a little more unique than anywhere else and definitely worth it.We had a delicious breakfast which was served impeccably and he even received a little birthday surprise extra.A cool place to dine whatever the occasion.
I really enjoyed The Wolseley, from the doorman at the door, the food, ambience, service and decor of the restaurant. It feels like by gone days glamour and class. The food was delicious unfortunately, the photos dont do it any justice. I met a friend after 2 years so, there was much to catch up on; hence, rushed pictures.I had a full 3 course meal starting with onion soup, venison meatballs with neeps and fruit crumble with custard.Youre served tap water without having to ask for it and your glass is kept topped up. This should be standard in any restaurant and I glad The Wolseley dont feel it above them to do so.The staff are attentive; my glass of water was never empty. They are friendly, offer service with a smile and are glad to answer any questions. The setting is beautiful.I would absolutely recommend for a special occasion for dinner in the evening and you wont be out of place if you decide to get dressed up.Ill definitely be going back.
Took my mum for her Birthday and what a pleasant afternoon tea we had. The staff couldn’t have done enough and as I do a lot of reviews and have had a lot of afternoon teas this was right up there with the best. Sandwiches are a delight and the pastry’s and cakes are delicious. I do like how they serve coffee also as not many places do and I’m a massive coffee lover so extra points for that! Also it’s a very good price for what you get and that’s a luxurious afternoon tea.
