The Wine Station - Wine bar in Blenheim, New Zealand
Really great place to visit we had a platter and wine tasting, friendly staff well worth a visit.
Wonderful place with tasty platters and an amazing array of wines to taste
Super nice and friendly staff. I love that you can try all different kind of wines - we spent hours at this wonderful place
Awesome experience, easy to spend money but its worth while the experience of tasting a large range of wines 👍👍
Ive personally not been there though Ive heard its pretty good, so might be worth a shot or two..... Or three...or.....
What a unique way to do tasting and good staff definitly go back next trip up this way. Highly reconend a visit.
We enjoyed our time spent here. Such a great idea that put you in charge of choosing what you tasted. The staff were so friendly and were a fount of knowledge about the local wineries. Because of Level 2 many cellar doors were closed. If you don’t have time to visit many wineries go here instead! A one stop shopping experience.
Great staff, 80 different wines to try plus my partner really enjoyed the coffee. Platters as well. Thank you for an enjoyable morning
Friendly and welcoming environment.Great selection of wines from the region and beyond. A highlight of my Blenheim stay. Below is my new favorite chardonnay.
These guys are always so accommodating. They deliver fast service, and good food. Always a hello, and always wish me a good evening.
Great spot to spend a few hours trying out almost endless varieties of wines. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. This is a great option if you don’t have much time to spend in Blenheim, or as a starting point before visiting wineries.
My wife enjoyed tasting local best wines!
What a great way to do wine tasting. Really enjoyed the experience. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Wonderful place, where youre able to try the best of the regions wines. Best of all you can try them in three sizes so you dont have to commit to am unknown. There were over 80 wines on when we visited, and not one of the ten or so tried was anything other than delicious.Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable, and there are platters there to help soak up the booze. Also nice to see local artists work displayed. If youre in Blenheim, definitely check it out, even if youre touring vineyards.
Want a wine tour with a difference. This is a must visit. Great opportunity to taste and work your way around the region of wine in one place.
Great place to try a massive variety of local region wines. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the old train station has a great atmosphere.
Excellent selection of drinks. Staff very very helpful and knowledgeable
Great place to relax and try different wines from around region. Their bread & dip platter is a must order, perfect for sharing between 2-3 people while enjoying your wine.
Great selection of wines to taste, at your own leisure. However, a little pricey in comparison to the vineyards, I would suggest going here first or before you pick which vineyards to taste at.
Spent our 25th Wedding Anniversary here back in February. Great choice of wines, super knowledgeable staff. Gorgeous cheese board. Thank you. 😁
Good place to explore varieties of local wines. Great location and ambiance
Great atmosphere to sit and enjoy some wine and beer tasting. We didnt sample the platters but they appeared to be enjoyed by other patrons. The staff are extra friendly and helpful. I liked the fact that you could have a half pour, enabling more sampling.
Very cool place, wine tasting, local artists on display and coffee of course. The train station is a beautiful building both in and outside. Well worth spending an hour if you are on a stroll around town.
This is quite an expensive place to sample wines, when you think that visiting a vineyard you would get to sample four wines on average for free, with the opportunity to purchase a whole bottle of the one you like best for around the same price as youll pay to sample four wines here. The real difference is that you can trial many different wines from different wineries without the need to visit them and you dont need to feel pressured to purchase a bottle at the end. Also this can be a fun experience trying the machines and chatting with the staff and your friends about which wines you like or not. Id say give it s go at least once and preferably as a group to maximize the experience.
Great place to stop for a taste of wine. You can enjoi 80 different bottle from automatic machine with a card. Very cool. Not cheap maybe but funny.
A good place to take visitors so they can do some wine tasting and gain knowledge on the Wine growing region. Good coffee. Havent had any food here yet.
Absolutely brilliant. I have no idea why this has not been repeated elsewhere in other wine producing areas. The food although limited selection was very good and service was excellent. My wife and I are moving to Marlborough and this may very well become our new favourite place.
Perfect place if you like to test very easy the wine of the region.
If you like NZ wines, youll love this place
Had a latte and a cake while waiting for Coastal Pacific. Very nice, incredible service and sweet people!! Mel was also very helpful getting us a taxi on our arrival!!!🙂
They have 10 machines that enable you to get a taste, small or large glass of wine. Get a card & then try whatever takes your fancy. And you dont have to travel around the wineries. Along with a cafe, what could be better.
Really well thought out café/bar, offering opportunity to sample around 80 local wines via self-serve dispensers, in tiny, small and standard size pours. Beautiful decor, including succinct summary of wine history and regional differences. Friendly, helpful staff -- and good cabinet food too!
Nice relaxing wine tasting location that is located in an old station. Interesting concept. You get a purchase card that you enter in one of the 10!! Wine tasting machines with 6 different bottles per machine and once selected you fill your glass with the desired small or larger portion. This is a great way to make money for the shop because you try different wines and may loose track of the consumption until you settle the till.We tried a fee sauvignon blanc and pinot noir. Some tasted great tiger we were lesser impressed. To accompany the drinking we took a cheese platter which tasted great.Overall it as a great experience but it was in the end costing mire than we expected. So be careful with those purchase cards.
A great coffee/wine/lunch/bathroom stop between Nelson and Christchurch.
Went to this cafe at Blenheim Railway station. They make excellent coffee and food. The cafe has a pleasant atmosphere and the staff were lovely friendly people, willing to chat with a pair of old geezers who had time on their hands. A great place to go to check out local wines.
One of the best places for wine tasting. You should hv some few hours in your hand. Pay 80NZD $ and you can taste the entire range of red and white wine there without limit. Good atmosphere. Rating is at your pace with a preloaded card. So you insert the card in the machine, select the wine and the quantity. 100+ different wines are there. Other side of this restaurant is railway station. Thats why its called wine station. Very friendly staffs are available to explain each and every step for the process. Tasting notes are available and a detailed food pairing too. .ofcourse you will also get food and tea coffee etc..
Really liked the concept here - 80 wines to sample at reasonable prices. Tried the charcuterie board which had some nice cold cuts on there - all from NZ. Staff were friendly and helpful. Recommend a visit especially if you are new to the area and would like to get an idea of the wines on offer (will aid your decision on wine/self-guided your).
Really friendly staff happy to pour our flat whites into takeaway cups so we could drink them elsewhere because we werent allowed to sit in their empty outdoor seating area because we had our dog with us. They politely explained it contravenes their licence. The person was very polite about it. The first time we have ever been refused a seat because of having a (leasheddog with us.
Great place to sit back, relax and try a great selection from the region. Staff were friendly and ready to share all their knowledge of the wines on offer. Cant forget that the coffee was excellent as well
Great way to sample 80 wines of the Marlborough district. Thank goodness they have more than Sav Blanc on tasting. Unexpectedly a couple of very interesting Shiraz. Worth spending an hour or two here. Food offerings pretty basic - pity.
I have found wine heaven on earth. Taste wines you could only dream of buying while relaxing on comfy chairs with a delicious local snack - or while picking the brains of the knowledgeable team. Or just have a great coffee or local beer!
The service at the Wine Station was just lovely. They have made it extremely easy for you ro taste as much wine as you want. We also ordered the deluxe platter and it went so well woth the wine. This place is a must for anyone travelling through.
A fantastic idea, you pop a tab behind the bar, take a glass and your tab card Abi go round the machines sampling the wines, you can buy a tasting measure, small glass or large glass. If you like the wines they have bottles for sale too.Good teas, coffee and cakes/snacks available also, all from the comfort of the station building.
Very nice and peaceful place with a many choices for souvenirs or gifts. The coffee is absolutely perfect and the staff members are very helpful and friendly.
Nice wine concept, friendly staff and delicious food platter.
The ladies at the Wine Station are actually amazing! I accidentally left my shoes outside the bus stop and they picked it up and express mailed it to me, both the isite and the bus company were rubbish but these ladies really helped me out. Thanks so much, you have made my year with your generosity- from the crazy shoe lady
Excellent selection of wines. We were there with a large group so we maxed out the place. The staff was helpful and friendly throughout our wine tasting. The meat, fish and cheese trays were plentiful and tasty. A positive was our choice of wines to taste and the group add fast access. From a wine tasting perspective, in a smaller situation, I would hope there could be more of a discussion of pairing wines with the food trays.
The wine station is a wine tasting venue in an old railway station which has been converted. The line still exists with a platform. Outside the station is also the place where busses arrive and leave. We had come up from Christchurch and had a few minutes before the connecting bus left to Nelson. What better than to taste a few local wines and decide on a couple of bottles to buy our hosts for the evening.Interesting way to taste the wine, glass in hand and a credit card sized card. Select the wine, insert card and a measure is deposited in the glass. You can then go from wine to wine sampling at your own pace. When finished, you hand back the card and they then present you with the damage.
Great atmosphere & Good Coffee
Great idea to taste local wines. They should have note cards the size of a credit card so you can add your own notes... I forgot some of the wines I tasted and needed an aide mémoire.
