Wholesome Irish restaurant in airy room overlooking the River Liffey with downstairs book shop.
Have been coming here for years & have never had a bad experience. The food is always really lovely, and the atmosphere warm & comfortable.
Had such a great meal and time that we went back for a second time. We had the Tofu barbecue, the t-bone pork chorizo, The bread pudding, chocolate brownie w ice cream and the pear for dessert everything is so good!
Atrocious hostess. Mostly unkind and unwelcoming. We had a reservation and the restaurant was empty. Still couldnt seat us 4 by the window and gave us a BS explanation. Waiter was pushy and said we had to order starters and mains all at once. Its such a horrid place where they force you to abide by their rules without question. We left without trying the food as we felt it was an abismal place. No rating on the food.
This is a lovely setting for dinner and the atmosphere and service was great. The scotch egg and charcuterie starters were delicious but we were a bit disappointed with our steak main course, it was nothing special and for the price would expect more. If we went again we would just get all the snacks/starters as they all looked amazing and avoid the mains as more of a risk!
Awful food, I ordered hake with razor clams. The clams were tiny and so rubbery I couldnt chew them. My husband had the charcuterie board which was truly dismal. The meats were congealed and utterly disgusting. Staff disinterested and unfriendly..I will never darken this restaurants door again.
Wonderful experience! The ambiance is perfect. It’s upscale, but not snooty, so still feels laid back. The food was incredible. My husband ordered the pork chop and said it was the best pork chop he’s ever had. Will continue to come back here whenever we’re in town.
Had a very pleasant lunch here. Menu is slightly unusual but not funky and everything we ordered was fantastic.
Cozy and homey with a nice atmosphere. Generous wine pours and attentive service. We had the crab appetizer, which was wonderful and bbq tofu entree is delicious. We’ll be back!
great service & food. Daughter and I just want a quick bit at early hours without knowing a reservation is needed. The host still lead us to a table.
Was absolutely impressed with the menu. My husband has an egg allergy and there were many unique, allergy-friendly desserts that we were excited for him to try.Three of us went, Sat down, ordered a dessert and wine per person. The wait staff left and a manager came out and asked us to leave because they wouldnt serve us unless we ordered a main course. my husband offered to get a main course and he said everyone at the table would have to get a main course. We left, sad and disappointed
Genuinely one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Extremely lovely staff and just outstanding food. Highly recommend!
A fine restaurant In a previously famous book store. If you have mobility issues this might be the restaurant of choice. We had the scotch egg to start. This was well cooked and very tasty. The Gem salad had plenty of anchovies and was worth trying. The smoked haddock was a bit disappointing for me but Ive never had this type of dish before. I felt it lacked different flavours and was rather monotonous. Maybe thats the way its supposed to be? Meal for 2 with no liquor was 77 Euro. The restaurant is worth going back to and trying other delights. Worth the trip.
One of my favourite restaurants in Dublin. Not to miss if you want to experience local cuisine with a modern twist and a view on the river Liffey. It’s airy and spacious and has a bookstore on the ground floor. Our choice of their hand smoked haddock and steak didn’t disappoint. We’ll definitely be back!
Went without researching and was very pleasantly surprised. We had the Cauliflower cheese and veggie scotch egg - incredible. Prices seemed high for mains but for the location, quality of food and amount served it felt like a bargain.
Excellent experience. Loved the books and the wines. They really know and pair their wines well with local cuisine. I will recommend to everyone visiting Dublin and return for sure.
Window seat w lovely view. Beef rump & pork chop was very satisfying. It was my husbands bday so called a day ahead for a dessert w candle... the waitress did not get the request obviously so I had to order it (so much for a small surprise... she placed it in front of him in a hurry & said happy birthday while walking away! So... not big on birthdays? 🤔
Scotch egg. What a lovely surprise. An egg lightly boiled before wrapped in a mask (maybe yamthen rolled in a nut mix before deep fried to finish the egg to be smiling. Really nice.Pork chop. Large chop on the bone cooked to be juicy and tender served with a whole cooked sweet apple and deep fried black pudding ball.Cauliflower (wholein blue cheese sauce served with bok choy, green peas. The blue cheese a little overpowering but still delightful.Service very fast, great happy attitude and knowledgeable on the menu and wines.
Booked dinner for 2 for a special occasion. Brown bread was outstanding! Fish plate big enough to share. Sole overcooked, sent back. Dessert list? a disappointment.
Great food, inventive menu, attentive but not intrusive staff. Comfortable dining room overlooking the Liffey but good space between parties. Go.
This was our second time eating at this restaurant (the last time was 6 years agoand it didn’t disappoint this time, either. Nice wine selection, delicious food, and good service.
Wonderful and unforgettable dinner overlooking the canal in great company.
Perfect place for lunch to escape the tourist hustle of sightseeing. Food & drink menu are fabulous. For Lunch I had the Sole with a Red Ale, while overlooking the river and Ha’penny Bridge. Good music, chill atmosphere, perfectly lovely staff. Wish I could have stayed for longer. Blissful place on a Summer afternoon.
Bit disappointed to be honest. We were very excited about the online menu, particularly the steak with bone marrow. Sadly the menu was different when we arrived. The starters were fine. My partners baby gem lettuce salad wasn’t diced up which was a bit odd. My crab on soda bread was okay. The bread was quite thick and again it had to be prepared by me.The mains is what left me so disappointed. The steak I ordered was tough. I ordered medium rare and it was definitely medium. No red or blood at all and quite bland. For the price that was really disappointing. My partners fish dish was fairly average. It was two entire fillets which was far too much food, which left us feeling like we paid for the quantity and not the quality. The smoked flavour tasted identical to the smoked haddock at Leo Burdock’s (which is great for Leo Burdock’s prices, but a bit disappointing here).I skipped dessert and in fairness the server comped our other dessert when we mentioned the steak was overcooked and tough.Service was good (although no specialsand the food came out really quickly. To the point where we had no gap between starter and main and our starter actually arrived before our drinks.
Cozy restaurant space with great food and wine cocktails! It doesnt have a kid friendly menu so definitely check before you go to make sure there is something the kids will like to eat.
Great food and friendly service - it’s a twist on traditional food and it’s very well done
Great service, food is nice
The menu was unusual and interesting. Had the excellent poached haddock, crab and lovely bread and butter pudding. All cooked just right. Great service.
Wow - great meal in the heart of Dublin. This second floor has giant windows - try and get a window seat. The favorite meal was the smoked haddock. The Bixby potatoes was a close second. Mussels weee excellent and a nice portion. Lamb and steak
Lovely food and service. We spent our last evening in Dublin here, looking over the bridge and soaking up the atmosphere. Food was really lush and they partner up their menu with wine suggestions. Would highly recommend and suggest you book in advance.
Great restaurant just across the Temple Bar area. High quality food with good service and great views of the Liffey. If you’re visiting Dublin and in the area, I would highly recommend.*Just be mindful that they are true to their name and you’ll have to go up multiplier stairs.
Very nice service and food. Very generous portions for the money. The scotch egg was out of this world.
Great Restaurant. Lovely ambience and surroundings. It’s perfect sized, so not noisy or overcrowded. Beautiful View of Liffey. I really enjoyed the food and drink served, with a slight reservation that while it was very tasty, I wasn’t sure if quality matched the price. High recommendation.
We got recommendations for that restaurant from a local, and it was a fantastic experience. We tried potted crab, the mussels and lamb belly, and everything was cooked to perfection. The mussels portion was also so huge it could easily be enough for two. Finished with a bread pudding, which was delightful.Service was great as well. Highly recommended. Just make sure to book in advance.
Affordable, tasty, and nice selection of foods without being overwhelming. The staff was lovely and the venue was very interesting. The only reason I cant give a five star is because even though the appetizers were fantastic, the entrée was not up to par.
Lovely and unpretentious restaurant by the River Liffey. However, the food itself was only so so - none of the dishes really stood out. Dublin is an expensive city and the prices at this restaurant are no exception. Full complements to the staff though who made pains to accomodate at quite short notice my family of 6. Id recommend this restaurant for the ambience and a fancy treat on a night out, but only if you are prepared to spend a bit more for what I thought was fairly average fare.
I would have given this place a 4, but the service is making me think twice about coming back... My review is closer to a 2.5.Love the ambience and the look of the place. Good variety of food and wine, though may be on the slightly pricier side of things. But they do have more unique offers.Service is what got to me.Went to the restaurant for dinner on my own. Had just arrived in the country a few hours before. I was fortunate to get a seat without booking, and was informed upfront that I had just under two hours to complete my meal which was fine by me. A lovely gentleman came by and provided excellent recommendations when I asked for them. I had the bone marrow and Jerusalem artichoke with a glass of red, followed by the ginger and pear sticky cake w a glass of strawberry wine. Explained that I wont order a main as the food is quite heavy, and he had no problems with that. While he was accomodating, the other staff members who served me were rather short, at times patronising to the point of accusative and rude. Definitely didnt appear happy if asked a few questions, or had to make accomodations to someone who is new to the place and the country. Definitely was not a good ending to what could have been a lovely evening.
Lovely location overlooking the river. Cosy and chic. We came for dinner whilst on holiday and felt like most of the other diners were locals, which is always a good sign. Staff were amazing - very personable yet professional. Food was lush. We had a great night and would highly recommend!!
This place is class. No booking, waltzed in on a busy Saturday (Easter weekendand they sorted us a table despite being majorly busy. Starters and mains for both of us were off the wall, the dessert was disgracefully tasty.. and the wine... Jaysus. Handsome. Our server, I wish Id caught his name, but he was fantastic. Attentive but not overbearing, able to provide a great shout on the wine selections as well for pairing with what we ordered. I loved this place. Couldnt recommend it highly enough.
Nice traditional Irish restaurant close to the center of Dublin. High quality ingredients and good valued wines. Service was alright.
A cute little restaurant hidden behind well trodden winding stairs. The brunch here is a must try. The selection of wines is exceptional and the one I liked the most is that they have a suggestion of wine with every item on the menu - that’s nice. The Irish Strawberry wine, and the bread and butter pudding in whisky sauce is a must try.
Didnt get a great seat... But had no reservation so I cant cry too much. Well restaurant was empty when we got there... Anyhow service was excellent, wine and only bottle beer. Good Beer! Food was good, except dont order the steak & bone marrow plate. He wasnt kidding its dry. Even at medium it was nice red but so lean its not good.
Food here was delicious and the service was great. Really nice atmosphere. Recommend the Potted Dingle Bay Crab! The Venison was also amazing. Looking forward to going back.
Food was very good but this place is VERY expensive compared to other places in the area. The staff will call you you out if you dont order a "Main". The menu was different from what they posted online and nothing really seemed appetizing. Also as a side mention, this has been the only place in Ireland which requested a tip.
Absolutely brilliant. Incredibly hard to decide what to order as it all sounds, and looks fantastic. The food was spot on and the service is great.
Overpriced - first of all. Calling their 18 EUR " Irish charcuterie Board with chutneys & breads" is just an offence to Irish food- look yourself at the photo. Slices of salami, one chutney and two toasted pieces of bread, really?Mains very delicious, nicely presented combinations of good ingredients. Nice atmosphere, busy but kind waiters.
What a nice dinner! We had a great time on the 1st floor balcony. The food was lovely - Irish food revisited and modern. The service was impeccable, and the drink selection very nice. Definitely come back again!
Absolutely delicious Irish food. Quirky and romantic, I recommend having a table with view on the Liffey. The staff is really lovely, and they have taken all the necessary COVID-19 precautions. I definitely recommend this space for casual and romantic evenings and also nights out with friends.
Food is delicious and quality is extremely good! The place is located right in the heart of Dublin over a old and well known book store. We dined here over New Years and alright it was delicious, if I conceded the price and the service is it was little over priced. I would still recommend but it was not enough for 5 stars. Happy new year!
I came here with a group of coworkers for dinner. The restaurant is literally up a winding staircase and is just across the river from the Temple bar area. They have an open concept and you can see right in the kitchen which I really like. The menu is simple and short and the food high quality with a good pace to the service. I had the Irish Seafood Chowder, which was a white chowder loaded with fish. I wish they had pulled the mussels out of the shell as it was clumsy to get the meat out of the shell in a soup, but I did really like the soup. I had the hake for the main and it came over a cheddar mash and was simply amazing. The wine list was good, but the prices seemed too high. The service was very good and overall I recommend.
A great location, overlooking River Liffey. Set lunch menu offered. Salmon is fresh; boar terrine is authentic; potatoes dumpling is flavourful; chicken a bit over cooked (drythough still delicious with the sauce. Friendly service. Asked for a window seat when booking.
