Seasonal produce and fine wines served in a 15th-century gastropub with beamed ceilings and terrace.
Incredible! Found via Google maps when en route home from Bristol. Amazing food, probably best I’ve had in Oxfordshire. Deserts in particular
Great food, and great selection. Cozy, great atmosphere.Beautiful pub.
We came for a meal on the 5th Nov - a large group of 8The food was great as we have come to expect from our several visits now.The waiters were very friendly and accommodating especially with the two children present. Thanks for making a family birthday party special!
Fantastic country pub with excellent food. My starter was one of the best I’ve ever had (black bomber custardand the baked Alaska pudding was also delicious. Attentive staff and I would highly recommend.
The best food I’ve eaten in the Cotswolds!❤️
Great dinner here. Very good level of service, cosy and warm pub atmosphere. Starters & mains were all of an excellent quality, all with a lot of flavour and thoroughly enjoyed. Desserts looked excellent, but we didnt have the appetite for more food after two excellent courses. Desserts looked good, though!
Very good food we had for a wake, sandwichs and lovely cakes. Also very pleasant staff.
My partner and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. They were great at accommodating me being gluten free and I felt safe eating here. Someone ran through each of the mains and whether it could be modified to be gluten free or not, and I had quite a few choices. The pork was exceptional. We decided not to stay for desert as there were limited options that could be modified to be gluten free and what there was all contained alcohol, which I cant have, which was a shame! Was just thinking I would have loved a chocolatey desert when they brought out a plate with fudge and a Happy Anniversary message at the end, so that was a lovely and special ending to the meal. We will definitely be back to have another meal here again! Thank you!
We were in Abingdon for business (from Singaporeand was looking for a nice restaurant for a team dinner! The White Hart was a bit hard to find but it’s a real gem of a place! It’s really surprising how a little place like this can dish out such amazing dishes! Everything tasted really good and plated beautifully!
We had a very good lunch here. The roast belly pork was delicious and the fish was very good. Both well presented and the sauces with the dishes were well balanced. The creme brûlée was good. Nice interior and good service. Thanks
We tried both Sunday lunch and takeaway pizza. Both were very good and would certainly recommend. Beautiful building as well
Everything about this restaurant is first class. The food is fantastic as was the service we received. Would definitely recommend it.
Really impressive food, attentive and friendly staff. 100% would go again. Brilliant value on the set lunch menu.
Had Sunday lunch here and it was one of the best we have ever had . Food was fantastic and the staff were wonderful, a great time and will soon be back..
The food was delicious BUT the meat portions were small for some of us. One of my two beef peices was fatty and gristly, I asked for another piece but this was refused. I think this is a shame as everything else was a really good standard and it was expensive so i would expect this to have been replaced. We also had to ask for extra veggies as there was not enough for 8 of us provided. Im giving 4 stars as most of our group really enjoyed the meal but I feel the service let my experience down slightly.Response to owner.I agree your portions are really good, most people had had loads of meat other than me! I think I got the edge peice of beef so both peices were really small and burnt. I was really surprised you refused my request for another peice of meat it seemed very mean and i was really suprised. I tried a family members beef and it was perfect, so i really had been given a poor cut of beef. Have to say Im sure this was a one off though as most had a great cut of meat and enjoyed their meal.
Amazing value for such good quality food served in a magnificent historic building.Everything from the starter to three main course to the desert was fresh, quality ingredients, well thought out, and excellently executed.
Went back again and yet again the food was superb. Hard to fault the dishes presented. Staff were excellent and left us to our meal, discreetly asking if we were happy with our food and asking if we required more drinks when glasses were empty. The wine was great as was the beer on tap. It was my partners birthday and they acknowledged it and sent out a little Rick dark chocolate pudding for her which was very tasty and wonderfully deep dark chocolate. We had skate wing and pork belly as main courses and both were absolutely beautiful. Hats off to the staff and the chef. Thank you for a lovely evening
Incredibly good pub, we went there for lunch and ordered from the lunch menu, very reasonable price and the food are beautifully presented and super tasty! There is a lovely garden at the back NS it was nice to sit there on a hot summer day for a drink! will go again for some dinner!
Wow! Had dinner here with friends. Food fabulous, staff great and nice atmosphere. Would definitely go here again.
My family surprised me for my 60th birthday and I can honestly say it could not have been any better, the food was amazing ,we all had various dishes from the menu and all of them were plentiful and delicious, such a great combination of freshness and diversity, the staff are fantastic and very attentive the whole experience was a delight, thank you so much to Mark and kay and the white Hart team 😊
I met up with a friend for lunch, lovely crayfish pizza!Ill be back soon and I can give a more in depth review but given how friendly the staff were and the beautiful garden I will certainly be back very soon!
Wonderful birthday lunch for my mother today. The mackerel starter was so good also the asparagus starter was outstanding. The star of the show was the cod, crab new potatoes and a crab cream sauce split with lovage oil, Mmmm. The service was great, a big thank you to the staff, they even gave my mum a birthday card. Thank you to all the crew at the White Hart. See you again soon.
Fantastic birthday dinner! Amazing food, excellent service, great atmosphere. Handwritten birthday card from the team. Special mention to Fanni, who was absolutely brilliant. Thank you for looking after us. 😊
Superb (42nd!!anniversary meal here. Food and service were brilliant. Special mention goes to Olivia who was charming!
Amazing food and an amazing place! A cosy little pub on the inside with a fabulous outside area with the option of shelter in an delightfully decorated conservatory! I was so caught up enjoying the food I only took a picture of my new favourite beverage!
Great local restaurant in a cosy pub. Vegan options arent on the menu but had a great starter, main and dessert of amazing flavours and left feeling full and well looked after.
Just the most fabulous, atmospheric, friendly and enjoyable gastropub for many miles around. The food is very well executed - traditional rather than boundary-pushing - but consistently well-executed. Service was unfailingly friendly, though a slightly frustrating wait for the bill. The dining room is beautiful and oozes character. Hugely impressed, and cant wait to return.
Brilliant find today. Beautiful building and interior (think Hogwarts!and the food is sensational. Highly recommend the trout starter, the bream which is cooked to perfection with the most incredible side of gnocchi and fusion salad and definitely give the rhubarb egg custard or the cheese board a go.
The food is unique and delicious, the place is warm and cosy. They have lit candles in the evening and lovely outdoor seating which is fantastic during summertime. The staff are attentive and friendly, they clearly hold a high standard for quality when it comes to both hygiene and food.I highly recommend this place for anyone for anything.A nice treat for yourself? The staff will make you feel right at home.Date for two? A romantic candle lit dinner with a variety of stunning wines to choose from.Family get together? No better place to go, plenty of seating, a homely setting and calm atmosphere.
The staff couldnt have been nicer or more accommodating, and the food was absolutely delicious! We had the Sunday roast (beef), which was the best roast dinner Ive had out. The sticky toffee pudding was also amazing.
Gorgeous country pub, lovely interior and an excellent meal. All staff were very pleasant.
Came here for the first time, table of 8 + baby for a family Sunday lunch. The staff were so welcoming, accommodating and attentive. The menu read really well. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with any queries we had.The starters were unique and fantastic. The Roast Beef was amazingly tasty, tender and a substantial portion. As for the desert. Wow! All with the presentation of a top restaurant. The White Hart is certainly not to be missed.
good food and value set lunch (£23 for 3 course). very cosy and nice interiors. worth a try:)
This is my favourite places to eat. Staff and surrounds lovely. The only downside that there isnt a disabled toilet but I was warned about it before I booked. I cant praise the food enough and very good value for money.
I absolutely love this place! One of the best Sunday roasts ever - tender beef, amazing trimmings married in gravy bursting with umami.Literally come here religiously every week. Would recommend to everyone!AND do not skip pudding!
Were not the biggest fans of the traditional Sunday Roast so when we find somewhere that can take it to the next level we get a table booked sharpish...We went for the three course menu and couldnt fault any of the six dishes enjoyed between us. Each course displayed subtle contemporary twists and beautiful attention to detail that made it an instant classic and added to a fantastic meal experience overall.Recently crowned by The Independent and Sawdays as one of the Top 50 pubs in England to visit post-lockdown... and we can see why. The food is amazing, the service friendly, and the atmosphere incredible... a definite recommendation.
This was one of the most delicious Sunday roasts I have had. I would 100% recommend and fully intend to come back to try the a la carte menu
Lovely meal here to celebrate my birthday. Staff were attentive, food was delicious and really nice outdoor covered seating area with some heaters.Food was slowish to come but we were in no rush, and it was well worth the wait.
Beautiful place and delicious menu! Ive been here four times now and never get disappointed.
Staff were really welcoming and accommodating. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Food was excellent and beautifully presented. The slow-roasted pork belly was particularly good - fantastic flavour to the pork and the signature straight stick of crackling was some of the best weve had. Love the fact that the menu changes daily based on the ingredients available and the chefs on shift. We will definitely be returning here again soon to try more dishes.
Amazing dining experience! The cozy atmosphere brings to mind a medieval dining hall, and the food is worthy of what royalty probably ate back then. Go for the 3-course meal, as youll regret not trying more of the chefs excellent dishes otherwise. You can find both traditional dishes cooked with the utmost care and modern fusions of ingredients that sing together in an unexpected way - sweet and savoury, fatty and crunchy, hot and cold, various textures meshing together on the same plate. Our compliments to the chef and we cant wait to come back! (Heres a picture of the excellent spiced pear dessert.)
Lovely food. Very old cute pub. Lovely garden area with a outside pizza oven. Worth turning off the a420 for.Not 5 stars as its not that cheap...
Really delicious food - BEST scotch egg ever! Great atmosphere and welcoming staff
Excellent food, great service, lovely interior! Had a great time and they put a lovely couple of touches for a birthday at our table! Thank you very much
Beautiful building & a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is limited but very well structured. The roast belly of pork was top notch, beautifully presented & packed full of flavour & their deserts...ooh! were lovely (I had two!)
It is a beautiful place. Very traditional and well cared. Food is very tasty, especially the main and the desserts. Perhaps staff could be more present, but anyway they were polite. Looking forward to going back and try other dishes when the weather allows enjoying a pint in the garden.
Enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal for my birthday here with my wife, baby and friends Everyone enjoyed their food immensely and the staff were really friendly - they even stuck some candles in my pudding (which my wife bought along!).
Consistent high quality service and delicious food. Pity about the state of the toilets which rather detract from the overall experience. And the charge for table water when the food and drink bill was already in excess of £200. Every single plate was cleaned out - starters, mains, dessert. The food was that good 👏👏 see photos for examples.
Fab! Met a freind here for lunch to catch up. The food was amazing, the setting beautiful, and the staff were attentive but in the all the right ways - they were knowledgeable about the dishes and were there if/when we needed something, but they gave us as much time as we wanted to catch up and I never felt any pressure to leave, even though they were busy. I fully intend to return!
Really enjoyed lunch there. It was full but food was very quickly served and staff was super friendly. Food was fantastic and really nicely presented. Its upscale pub food! Would come again.
