Very friendly , and chatty staff. Food was lush and the room were very comfortable, I will be back!! 😊
Really like this place. The food is very reasonably priced but good quality and good portions. Staff are very pleasant as well and friendly. Highly recommend the breakfast!

Polite & helpful.Wednesday night is curry night for £9.99 usually £14/15 .. my GF had Roast beet @ £11 .. both great value & tasted lovely !!!Thursday night is steak offer nightBetween 3pm & 7pm seniors get 2 courses for a tenner ..Wish lived a little closer or would use more often cheaper than a takeaway and much more enjoyable..
Where to start? The room was fantastic for £85 a night I hope lots of hotels will come to The white Hart and have a look at how to do it. The staff is friendly and professional always ready to help . Food, for the price you pay is great. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to stay and enjoy
Excellent service and quality will certainly stay again
Get an ultimate burger with cheese and bacon fries. Amazingly good.
Only stopped for coffee which was good. Made a visit to the toilet, and they were very clean. Noticed the food on the tables as I walked through, it looked very appetising. The staff made me very welcome even though I only had the coffee
Stay here for a family party in the hall at the hotel. Clean and tidy. Service was fantastic. Nothing to much trouble. Had a evening meal . That was lovely. Did not have breakfast as we got up too late. Definitely would stay again. Thank you
Had a good time here, staff were lovely 🙂
This use to be my local when working in Witham, however I still visit now and then. Service here is always great, staff are super friendly. Good selection of drinks, and the food menu just gets better and better. Plenty of seating outside and in.
We went for breakfast on a Friday morning. Food was great and restaurant was clean, as always. Hot drinks took a while to come and mine was wrong but was immediately rectified
Great venue, amazing breakfast with helpful and friendly staff. Interior style is classic with a great atmosphere, and the beer garden is huge!
Lovely friendly place and great food. We had a room with 4 poster bed £95 per night including breakfast, many choices available too. As expected with an old building quirky lay out but really nicely done. Evening meal great food at good prices. Would stay here again for sure.
Really friendly staff. Food good. In the middle of town so very handy
Old building so no air con fan in room was adequate but did hear other guests saying fan did nothing. Beware on room 4 taps on sink are wrong way round so very hot water comes out of cold tap. Breakfast very good. All members of staff I spoke to were very nice.
very slow service, waited 20 minutes for drinks to be served and then another hour for our food. it was not busy when we arrived there were 2 other tables filled at the time. we ordered pasta which shouldn’t take an hour. if you’re going for a fast bite i do not recommend but if you’re looking for a nice sit down meal then this could be good for you. the food was very nice overall.
Made a late booking for 3 rooms for 1 night as attending a wedding nearby and original hotel had to be cancelled. Staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and comfortable and breakfast the next morning was good quality. Would definitely recommend 👌
A nice afternoon lunch, staff very friendly and attentive.
Very rude waitress today, she open the window left us to deal with the sun. She didn’t say a word even when she was really near me to open the window curtains. This is not the customer service that I’m used to have in this pub, which I visit since 2014!
Simply cant fault it. The food is fantastic, the beer is great with a wide selection. Parking available and its right next to town. Marquis in the garden so you can eat inside or outside and the staff are efficient and polite. Lovely and clean as well. Great experience both for daytime and night time. I cant comment on the rooms as I havent stayed there overnight but Ive had family stay there and they said it was fantastic.
Pleasant place to stay..Rooms very clean and comfy. Good selection of tasty food and beers etc..All staff so helpful and friendly could not fault this place...thankyou all
Have not stayed here but it is good place for a drink. Always a couple of nice real ales and always find the staff pleasant and helpful. Have eaten here about 4 times and have not been disappointed with the quality.
Went on a Wednesday. Curry was lovely friends loved what they had. Lovely clean restaurant will definitely be going again very pleasant staff
Not even a 1 star The pub restaurant manager was a very foul lady, not a family oriented place atall, place was absolutely filth and the mouth on the manager when I was sitting eating my breakfast yesterday morning was appalling the way she spoke to a group of people about their babies making minor mess. Unacceptable. I’m sure the managers name was jo or Joanne I can’t remember what I heard her say but I hope the poor family take this further I have never witnessed such a foul mouth
Very pleasant hotel. My double sized room had a bath and tea facilities. Very clean and even though the building is old the room feels fresh.
Lovely local pub, restaurant and hotel. Good place to have a drink with lots of sofas, different books to find a quiet space. Busier Friday and Saturday night’s. Popular outdoor dining space in the summer with music.
Pretty average food. If you go there expecting anything but bog standard pub food, youd be disappointed. Nice service and a friendly face though.
Stayed for 1 night for a party in the area . The hotel was very clean and tidy and the bed was so comfortable and lots of room for what we needed . Everything was there of what you would have needed for a stay. The staff was amazing and so helpful and great service . The food was very good and one of the best breakfast we have had. The location was great , shops around and walks.Would definitely recommend and stay again!☺️
Food was lovely. Room comfortable. Staff friendly and efficient. Very nice to stay in such a welcoming pub offering bed and breakfast. So much nicer than the usual impersonal hotel chains. Would definitely stay again.
Very nice and welcoming. I took my daughter and grandson for breakfast there this morning which was delicious. Staff are fantastic.well worth a visit.
Had a most enjoyable flavoursome breakfast, food was served hot. Susan the waitress was very attentive and friendly. I cant recommended this highly enough, I will certainly be returning again.
Dined here in restaurant, Sunday lunchtime. Busy, peak service. Roast dinner meals were good, certainly homemade/ hand prepared and not all bought-in frozen, other than the dessert. Very tasty, fundamentally much was very good, cooked well and not bland. Roasted vegetables. Everything seasoned, served on warmed plates etc all as one would hope. Service not bad, as forementioned it was busy so forgiveable.Drinks were good. Known locally for good ales, local beer with good range available, kept well.Wasnt perfect, but good, put down to being busy, but potentially very good for a pub meal and will happily return when next In Witham.
What lovely people, all the staff were friendly, efficient and took pride in their jobs. Fab hotel, rooms were weel furnished. Very comfortable beds. Food great. Plenty for breakfast which is included. Great position on the high street. I was there for about 10 days and left feeling like family. Only little niggle was the bathroom in 17 gets very cold. Would definitely stay again
So sad to see a much loved restaurant going downhill. Have visited this place for 12 years just before Christmas to enjoy a sunday lunch however today ordered roast pork and was served up something that tasted like processed sandwich filling. Was originally told crackling would be served too but that was a mistake. My lovely wife shared her roast turkey with me as the staff were not interested in my complaint. This is not the service previously enjoyed and wont bother visiting in the near future.😒
Went here this morning with a friend for breakfast, our waitress was so lovely and attentive we couldnt fault her, the place had a warm coziness feel about it (especially with the Xmas Decs up). The breakfast itself on the other hand wasnt that great, cold beans, rubbery and tinned mushrooms, and to top it all the sausages were raw. We did tell the waitress who was only to happy to bring some freshly cooked ones but unfortunately the second batch was also pink in the centre. The manager did try to argue that its (because of the meat content#b***ocks. Such a shame as wed heard good things about the white Hart, hopefully this was just a bad day. Maybe were try dinner next time and see if thats any better.
First time we had great breakfast. Couldnt fault it. But went again a few weeks later and it seemed as if the breakfasts had been sitting under a hot plate for a while with hard powdery eggs. Hopefully it was just a one off but a bit of a disappointment.
Good breakfast, nice rooms and location. BUT some of the staff have a funny way of dealing with customers. We were guaranteed early check in, arrived to be told it wasnt going to happen, and it went down hill from there. Staff were immediately on the defensive and the situation became very awkward to overcome. Housekeeping staff were shooting daggers and kicking equipment round in a huff...it was all in all quite bizarre. The manager was lovely when she was eventually brought in to help, which was much appreciated. I would honestly recommend working with staff on problem management and complaint handling because otherwise everything about the pub was lovely. It attracts nice clientele and had a friendly atmosphere besides the aforementioned troubles.
Really rude staff. I dont know where to begin..... 6 of us stayed here as our friend got married up the road. We requested an early check-in as the wedding started at 1.30pm. We were told this was absolutely fine, sent this in a confirmation email and even called the night before to double check. We arrived on the day and none of the rooms were ready. Instead of saying sorry we cant guarantee an early check-in you were misinformed, the lady made us feel like a complete inconvenience and said I dont want to deal with this. She then proceeded saying do you want to stay here or not. We didnt have much choice but clearly they can afford to send away 6 paying customers. Eventually we got access to a room 40 mins before the wedding, the cleaning staff were storming around like wed done something terrible. This is not the way to treat guests. At no point were we rude to any staff. The irony of all of this is the rooms are great value for money, the pub is nice and breakfast was great but I have never been anywhere that has been so rude and made a group of 6 adults feel so very unwelcome. If you are looking for a place to stay where people are kind and welcoming this is not it. I am a 36 year old woman and I was made to feel like a naughty child because THEY made a mistake. Unless the attitude of the people dealing with us changes I suggest you avoid staying here.
So you put someone responsible back in charge of the bar, the atmosphere improves, the service improves and the Pub stays open until a reasonable time on a Sunday night. Back to being the best place to get a decent pint in Witham
Checked into the hotel for the night and was met with bustling, busy but friendly staff. The room was clean, tidy and well presented. The ground floor pub building is quite large with 5 different seating areas internally and a large marquee in the external area near the car park. The menu is reserved with some of the usual pub food standards. I ordered the "pie of the week" as I was informed it was homemade steak and ale. I was not disappointed, the pastry was thin, tasty and crisp the filling was superb with huge chunks of steak and the gravy was rich. This was a fully filled pie. The selection of drinks was good and in addition to the usual electronic pumps, there were a number of ales. Those looking for a decent pint and some tasty grub should look no further than the White Hart.
I ate a sirloin stake (which is not the cheapest aroundand it came with canned mushrooms, i was expecting fresh ones. Also I asked medium-rare and it was served well done. Probably would have given 2 stars but the overall environment was good and my partner enjoyed her dinner.
Very pleasant dining area and lovely food. Best chips I had in a long time and Best onion rings by far. Haddock burger was really tasty. Will be back. Many thanks
Service was excellent on arrival. Staff were friendly and helpful and this was matched the following morning when we were greeted for breakfast. The accommodation was great with comfy beds and adequate facilities and the breakfast was very nice, cooked well and good-sized portions.
The White Hart in Witham is a great pub. They still feel very Covid safe even though the restrictions have been lifted. They have a large outdoor area, and a very efficient table service. Friendly staff, lovely food, and a good range of beer. All made for a very enjoyable evening.
This was a HAPPY ACCIDENT! I came in to avoid a £60 parking fine as I didn’t realise it was a private carpark. It was lunchtime so I though just order. The hotel looked nice walk-in though the pub garden into the dining area. It was nice and cosy and clean. The staff was attentive, quick and polite. The food was great value and honestly way more than I expected. I had calamari and I got a decent portion it was light and crispy. I also got gravy fries and again they were fully loaded and tasted amazing. Will come back 100% and bring people. Good service
We went to the football Saturday. The safety precautions were brilliant! Felt very safe. Somebody shouting across tables was asked to not do so, which was reassuring. The staff were absolutely AMAZING!!! Been going here prob 20yrs and they always employ brilliant staff, but wow. A difficult job in football euros, and very well done. All had iPads for orders, was so well organised. A MASSIVE well done and thank you to all. Highly recommend drinking, food or hotel or all 3 (we stayed here our wedding night). Thank you to the whole team. See you Wednesday for semi final xxx
We were just passing and decided to pop in on a Sunday afternoon. The food was lovely & the service was even better! our host Amy was exceptional ,attentive & very knowledgeable. She checked our order before being placed to make sure everything was right. Nothing was too much for her. What a great member of your team! And because of that, we will be back!
Not fancy food but good wholesome & hot. Friendly servers & great to hear the chatter of people out enjoying life. Adequate parking & outside seating if your not happy inside. Need to scan in but dont worry if you dont have a phone. Good cleaning & safe distancing.
Great pub with a large marquee with lots of heaters for "outside" drinking. Table service is excellent, staff friendly and the owner takes no nonsense for over rowdiness or Covid rule flouting. It puts people at risk and could have his business shut down. He is always alert and making sure everyone has fun but that does not turn into abusive behaviour. The result is a place buzzing with people of all ages. Indoors table can be booked for excellent food.
