A little dissapointed with this place. We came for our anniversary. The brussel sprouts app was no better than just roasting them a home with olive oil. The chicken was bland and my steak was just ok. Good mashed potatoes sides and not enough veggies. Bummed with the main courses that are pretty expensive for what they are. The créme brûllé was really good, though.

July 2022 - My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here, and while yes, the menu was a little pricey, the food, ambiance, and service were all fantastic. The experience was well worth it. This was our first time dining at The West End Grill, but it will definitely not be our last!

Great food and great service with city prices. A bit more than many A2 restaurants, but worth every extra penny. Book now, you will be pleased.

Order take out for my wifes birthday. The food was fabulous. As they say compliments to the chef. The staff was cordial and inviting as I waited for my food to be prepared. The price was right. We plan on coming in for the full experience next time.

Very pleasant and professional staff. Food was OK but unremarkable. Overcooked and bland. I will try this venue again as I realize that the Westend Grill may still be in a transitional phase. We need hi end restaurants in A2 but currently doesnt meet the quality that should be reflected in the price.

I was extremely satisfied with my experience here. The service is top-notch, the ambiance is fancy but not too over the top, and most importantly the food is great. I ordered the Sea Bass and it was one of the best tasting fish I’ve ever had. I was unsure about going here after some of the poor reviews I read before hand but this place really exceeded my expectations. It is pricey, but I think overall it’s justified. It makes for a great visit for special occasions.

This place has lovely decor. That is the best thing I can say. They have been open for a while with dine in. Their price points are Incredibly high (dinners average 50 dollars a piece and drinks are 20 dollars a cocktail). We had not good service. And our food was frankly awful. I mean I know covid has caused strife in the restaurant industry. But don’t charge the highest prices in the city for your food when it is poor. Maybe limit your menu to make sure what you do make is good. My halibut was dry and tasteless, my husband had lamb chops that were tough and the worst he has ever had (and the most expensive). The manager looked guilty and wouldn’t make eye contact with patrons asHe clearly knew the food and service was not good. Avoid this place. After we complained about the lamb chops (don’t even get me starts on the sides with my dish which were like instant rice and suspect looking veggies prepared horriblyno one ☝️ In management came to apologize and offer a free dessert (even TGIFs managers do this). Avoid this place!

Not so refined as it claims to be.Bacon wrapping shrimp is barely cooked so it’s very fatty. Ravioli has lots of bacon bits but fine.Sea bass is fine. Duck breast skin is very burnt and meat very tough. Very crunch green beans and almost raw chunk of carrots.Desserts are huge. Burnt orange cake is decent but stodgy and key lime pie is sickeningly sweet. Also siting of Rick Snyder in shorts.

The food was okay, but for the price that I’m paying, it was absolutely not worth it. The free bread balanced it out a little. With two appetizers and two mains, our total came up to $120. I came in excited to try the food, only to find myself critiquing it the entire time. However, the service was great.AppetizersBlue cheese tarts (5/5): These were the star of the show. The cheese topping was uniquely savory and the pastry was perfectly fluffy. Nothing I would add herePork belly (2/5): A little overcooked for my tastes, but maybe they were going for a bit more chew. The flavors were subtle, and nothing I felt like I couldn’t make at home.EntreesThe dishes came with a complimentary salad or creamy soup around 10 minutes before the entrees arrived.Lobster farfalle (4/5): The first bites was amazing. I felt my eyebrows quivering from the flavor explosion. However, a whole plate of this is too much. It was delicious for sure, but I felt like it was lacking balance. My fiancé couldn’t eat more than a couple of bites since it was too creamy. I feel like it would have paired well with the bitter and acidic flavors from the complimentary salad, so they should have come out together? I also think this would work better as an appetizer.Sea scallops (1/5): Burnt is the main thought I left with for a $46 dish. The large scallops were cooked perfectly, risotto was subtly seasoned, but the grilled asparagus was way too burnt. At first, I thought the charcoal flavor was supposed to be a part of the dish, but then I bit into a large charred piece and it no longer seemed intentional. I don’t remember tasting any “morel cream sauce” either. Since all the other flavors were subtle to bring out the natural flavor of the scallops, I ended up having a lingering taste of char the remainder of the meal.

Service was good. The appetizer and begniets were very good, but both my entree and my wifes entree were disappointing. My halibut was begging for some sauce or a dry rub... anything to add some flavor. Likewise, my wifes burger was very lackluster. Too be totally honest, a quarter pounder from McDonalds has twice the flavor. We just expected better for the prices.

This is dining in its finest form. Located in the heart of Ann Arbor, The West End Grill is an intimate venue with a nice atmosphere. COVID spacing is good. Many varied appetizers and entrees. The martinis are large and tasty and they have a nice wine list.

We got takeout for our anniversary. The bartender doing takeout did a great job. Not everything was perfect with the food (some missing components), but we enjoyed almost everything we ordered. Given the amazing service and the promise shown in the takeout I cant wait for the opportunity to eat at the restaurant in the future.

Best meal in Ann Arbor! Weve lived here for almost two years and finally made it to the West End Grill and were not disappointed. The services was exceptional and each dish we had was fantastic. We started with a seasonal special of Rangoon and tried the roasted pork belly and scallops with creme brulee for dessert. Highly recommend!

It’s a quaint little restaurant aiming for a premium dining experience. Pricing is considerably high; not a place I’d bring children. Initially, our party of 4 had a cozy corner and good conversation, but the noise level becomes deafening as the room fills up later in the evening. My short ribs were decadent.

Very disappointed. They would have to charge half the prices to get away with what they serve. Crab bisque had no crab meat. Duck was overcooked and dry. Filet stuffed with lobster but not stuffed with lobster, lobster tail and the scallops were small, portions were small. Service was slightly slow although our server , Rita, was great. Just way overpriced for the quality and quantity.

Underwhelmed. Crab Bisque tasted only off cream; no crab to be seen. All meals plated with the same mashed potatoes (or rice), plain green beans and a small roasted carrot. Entrees (short ribs and filet bernaisehad a teeny amount of sauce - more was definitely needed. Cooked beautifully tho. And the sea bass was outstanding, best Ive had.

This is a locals spot. If youre in a rush, or a bad mood, or dont like an old school feel then its not for you. If you like the idea of a private club type feel (everyones welcome), a meal that takes some time (European stye), and want top notch food, then this is it!

The place is incredibly underwhelming. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement.Based on recommendations, we had high expectations. Not to mention their menu online looked great!Service: Mediocre to poor. While our server was friendly & attentive, she was not informed on the cocktail offerings. We asked for a recommendation on a drink that wasnt sweet and she quickly offered up the I-75 and told us shed tell the bartender to go "light" on sweetness. It tasted like juice! And not in a good way. We sent it back but still go charged anyway. And then she took away my replacement cocktail before I was finished with it! :(Food: Per the recommendation of the server, the halibut shouldve been the bees knees. However, it came out warm but raw. While some fish is still delicious undercooked, the halibut is not one of them. It was mushy & chewy. We sent it back and they re-fired it, but by then my bf had finished his meal so I was left playing catch up. My boyfriend ordered the scallops; while the flavor was good they missed the very first step in the preparation process. ALL THREE of his scallops had the side muscle still attached, which is chewy and not appetizing at all. This is a very simple step to do and shows a laziness on the part of the kitchen to not prep the scallops at all before cooking.Given the issues we had with both the cocktail and entrees, you might expect a manager to stop by the table. We werent expecting a discount, but having a manager show face and acknowledge the less-than-stellar service goes a long way. Either there wasnt a manager on duty or management simply doesnt care about customer service.Overall, two stars. They have potential given their unique menu but the kitchen and staff fail on every level to execute.I recommend Black Pearl instead. Better food, better service, competitive prices, and a bartender that knows what theyre doing.

Key lime pie was too sharp, so was the salad dressing. Tomato soup that we got with the entree was too runny, not creamy at all - I’ve had way better. However, their seabass was extremely moist and soft but overall definitely not worth the price. Disappointed!

In our party of three we had a fantastic bottle of wine, three delicious appetizers, and three perfect entrées. The key lime pie was, as they say, to die for. It tasted as though the limes were picked fresh from the tree and Immediately made into a dessert. Our wait person was absolutely the best - knowledgeable, congenial, and attentive.Highly enjoyable dining experience for everyone, cant wait to go back!

Fabulous restaurant - my favorite in Ann Arbor for special occasions or quiet drinks at the bar. The service, the cocktails, the food, the deserts - are all exceptional. Over the years, Ive had almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed. I especially love the appetizers - dont miss the seafood strudel, (seasonalroasted caprese, and mushroom...something..... The sticky toffee pudding for desert is also to die for!

The food was excellent. Scallops were perfectly cooked and very delicious. The petit filet was perfectly cooked. Portions were not large. But hey, who needs leftovers while traveling? The service was good, but I think our waiter was preoccupied with a large group. BUT, the quality of the food overshadowed this minor setback. Highly recommended.

I went in with very low expectations, given the very high prices, the ridiculously terse chalkboard menu, and not especially appealing photos on social media. I went out extremely impressed. The Chilean Sea Bass was Insanely tender and juicy, almost like pork belly with more flavor and less over-the-top saltiness. Very nice Parmesean-crusted Halibut. Good Oreo cheesecake for dessert. The prices might be a touch high, but this is still easily one of the best restaurants in a great food town.

Our waiter was very polite and knowledgeable. Listening to him recite the menu from memory was impressive. We started off with two well mixed drinks and a shrimp appetizer that was enjoyable. The caprese salad was a highpoint of the night. The tuna was cooked well, but not terribly exciting. All in all a good meal, but perhaps a bit overpriced given such a safe menu and its reserved presentation.

This was not our first time at the West End Grill, but it will be our last.I was so incredibly sickened after a dinner there, that I spent 24 hours practically immobile. My husband had a very bad reaction as well. Whether it was old seafood (Scallops smelled of ammonia), or something else, this purportedly high-end restaurant should be far more selective and careful about the food they serve their customers.

We have tried virtually all of the Ann Arbor restaurants numerous times, however this one we have missed, for one reason or another. Our experience was very good, but I would not put it at the top in Ann Arbor. The food was completely excellent, however the menu is rather plain and traditional, nothing too contemporary, which would be a nice addition. We had 4 people total at our table, and favorites were the tuna appetizer, and sea bass entree. Only complaint was from the Halibut entree, which we all agreed was rather dry.I personally ordered a specialty cocktail, the same I order everywhere, and of course there are variations, but here it was virtually undrinkable. It did not really resemble what it was supposed to be.Service was excellent, atmosphere was just okay. I was glad we tried it, but would definitely select Pacific Rim or Logan over West End Grill.

Some reviewers rate West End as the best in AA, and I used to regard it as so.Last night, I was quite disappointed! This is a more expensive restaurant, and as such, one should expect top quality and service. I chose to order the Beef Short Ribs, even after considering that the $39 price tag was steep! What arrived on my plate - and although the dining room was maybe half full, our orders were extremely slow to get to the table - was a large lump of beef, accompanied by a small and luke-warm blob of mashed potato. I was suspicious of the beef, but since we were celebrating my wifes birthday, I chose to try to enjoy the festivities. I was able to eat only half of my entree, so I asked for a take home box.Next day, I took the rest of the entree from the box, and sliced it in half to see what I really had. Turns out it was nothing more than an ordinary hunk of chuck roast, probably about $4 worth at retail. I cook at home freqeuntly, and I know what chuck roast looks llike, and I know how beef short ribs look and taste! Not that it tasted bad, but that it was such a rip-off is what disappointed me. To think that a restaurantwould do such a dishonest thing to make a profit is just abominable!Alas, another fine Ann Arbor eatery gets crossed off my list(which is becoming very short)!

This is by far my favorite place in A2. The service is great, the food is outstanding and they make the best Martini in the area. The atmosphere doesnt live up to the service and the food but it doesnt detract either. Beats all the places on Main St.
