Nice enough pub, in a nice enough area, with some nice enough beers and ciders to choose from... as long as youve heard of any of them. But not really doing anything more than the bare minimum, but that could have just been the time of day we popped in.

The pib is well located adjacent to the Thames with dining on both the. Ground floor and first floor with some seating on the first floor balcony looking over the river as well as the ground floor terrace, thr latter however is too low to look onto the Thames. Reasonably priced menu for this area of outer London, was well cooked and arrived in a sensible time period.

The shared roast was absolutely sensational. One of finest weve ever eaten. 1 recommendation Id add alot more cheese to the Cauliflower and a larger helping of it as it was very small.

This pub is absolutely delightful. This, along with other Big Smoke brewery pubs, has a fantastic range of drinks from their own range and guest beers/spirits etc. If you can secure one of the prized balcony tables, you’ll enjoy one of the finest Thames views in London; you’ll barely believe you’re in the city. Food is also excellent, with a good range of premium pub grub and some decent vegan options. Crucially, the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s a great stop-off for a walk by the river, or well-worth a longer stay on a lazy Sunday.

The food was lovely but the ale was flat. We felt the upstairs also lacked atmosphere. Such a shame as in a great location.

Place with a beautiful tiny terrace. We stopped by to make some time while waiting for the train. The only thing that I didnt like was that there were a few dirty tables and I had to clean one myself. The service was nice and kind.

This place is a proper pub which is hard to come by! Its right on the river so you can watch the sun go down with your drink on the balcony or you can catch a view while you dine downstairs. The food is excellent! Loved the kimchi fried chicken sandwich and the halloumi and aubergine sandwich. Deeeeelicious! And the man behind the bar was super friendly. Its nice to visit a Barnes pub that isnt bougie. As I said, its a PROPER pub! Will be back!

Best location for a pub for miles around the balcony in the sun is blissful. Staff are amazing and the craft ales are always worth a try. Love it.

The atmosphere is lovely, typical English pub which serves the usual trappings and a great range of drinks, beers and ciders. Music was not too loud, just right to serve the overall experience. Staff were friendly, attentive and checked in occasionally to see if everything was to our satisfaction. Definitely would come here again.

Really friendly service. Great selection of beer and cider and really nice environment and views of the river. Good for starters and snacks but burgers only ok. Food was quite salty. Id definitely recommend for drinks and a few snacks

We booked last minute here for ten people for my 40th birthday. The staff were all so pleasant and really kind. The pub is really lovely and cosy. The food wow the food! It’s the best roast dinner I’ve had in a pub. We all had a roast dinner. The meat was perfect and so were the veg and potatoes. The staff gave the children pictures to colour in and they were so kind to the children. We will definitely be going back here! It’s also in a beautiful location by the river. Parking on the weekends is free around the area.

We held my Mothers celebration of life at the Watermans, Adam and James were fantastic. Accommodated every request, worked with us to make a real day/night to remember. Food, Location and Venue were great. I cant recommend TWA enough for gatherings, special occasions or just a relaxing drink with friends.......Im someone who typically doesnt leave reviews and have lived locally for over 40 years

My second visit to the Watermans Arms was a bit of a disappointment gastronomically. The duck spring rolls were excellent but there was hardly a trace of duck in them. The bangers and mash were good on texture but flavourless. The fillet steak was good considering its price, but the pepper sauce was very insipid. The house red was nothing to write home about.

We booked The Watermans Arms for a birthday celebration, and it was incredible. They were so accommodating with our event ideas beforehand and the service was fantastic on the night. The food was great, the service was fast and the sound system was perfect for the size of the space.Weve also visited on several occasions for drinks and dinner and found the food to be excellent, great burgers in particular.

Traditional English pub at first.Location, well by the river and close to the Barns Bridge and train station but at fairly busy street. Great view over the river from the first floor. Few tables on the balcony and beautiful sunsets can be seen from there.Very friendly staff, fantastic Japanese food, I believe served all day until 22:30. Very interesting selection of beers and ciders. Also, good music.

A treat after lockdown/outside drinking to be back inside this lovely pub. Ok, it wasnt busy on a Friday lunchtime but charming service and an interesting new Asian menu alongside usual pub favourites - delicious gyozas in particular and love the small bottles of prosecco. Def going back!

We had excellent service at the Watermans on Saturday evening and were able to enjoy both delicious food and beautiful drinks. The range of beers on offer is extensive and they certainly know how to pour a perfect Gin & Tonic. Re food, the calamari is to die for. This is a professional pub which combines warmth and friendliness with a fautless performance. Strongly recommended. Arguably the best pub in Barnes.

I like the selection of ales mostly. Although I struggled on this visit to satisfy my palate. Excellent pub on two levels. I use upstairs for dining with my family. Only gripe is the beer is on the expensive side. Next time the wife is paying.

This is lovely, well decorated pub with a wide range of beers/wines and views over the Barnes Riverside. The staff were absolutely flawless and made us feel very welcome. Unfortunately there is a BUT... we visited this pub as we are big fans of Big Smoke brewery and regularly go to the Antelope in Surbiton and the Albion in Kingston. The atmosphere was missing, the cool in house posters and artwork were missing and most tragically the chicken burger was well below par (wrong bun and definitely the wrong batter, also very dark almost burnt). We left after one drink and our meal to go to another pub. Big Smoke has a fantastic identity and maybe its not very Barnes but thats what we travelled there for. It wont stop us from visiting all of their pubs though, if only to confirm that the Antelope is the best pub on earth.

We went for the EOTHO as a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. We really enjoyed the experience, mains were okay, we had burgers which where a little dry but the kids meals were a great size and they loved them. They had pizza and pasta. We then had icecream and oreo doughnuts which were absolutely amazing. Ill go back just for them! Service was fab, they were really friendly guys and made us feel welcome. Will definitely be going back!

Go for a drink, avoid the food.Went for a drink and lunch on the upper terrace which was a great for a drink but then the lunch came.Got the fish and chips and my partner got the DIY tacos. Chip serving size was miserable. Must of had about 8 chips on that plate and the tacos were the most uninspired, bland meal weve had. Squid and beef was overcooked and Salad was a bunch of old iceberg and rocket that looked like it had been pulled straight from a supermarket salad bag not even dressed or anything. No salsa , fresh tomato or onion.Should have gone to the fish and chip shop around the corner.

Lovely pub with a fantastic range of beers, but the current security guard is very enthusiastic and can get very close. Hes just being friendly and seems like a genuinely great guy, but during a pandemic a bit more space would be appreciated.

Went there yesterday as it has reopened after the lockdown. Pretty good social distancing inside the pub, riverside packed across the road. So a good place for a sunny evening on the river.Good choice of ales and beers, go for this. However, the Pimms was £11 for a pint, grossly overpriced and Ive never tasted such a bad one. Avoid.

What I don’t understand is why this pub is seemingly open for business and serving drinks and food with customers lining up outside and then taking drinks to the terrace. I drove past last night and there must have been at least 100 people drinking and crowded along the terrace with very little regard to the 2m social distancing regulations. All this does is undermine the public health message in a very visible part of London. I urge the manager of this establishment to review the policy to open and serve drinks for customers to consume along the river. We all need to play a part in reducing infection rates

Wasn’t sure what to expect given this is a relatively new pub but the food is awesome!! Tasty and great portions. The service is terrific too, I knocked the table causing drinks to go everywhere, totally my fault. The bar staff replaced the drinks without even blinking. Would definitely recommend.

The best Sunday roast dinner I’ve had in west London ever! (Second best to HawksmoorsAnd I’ve tried a lot of them..Having seen their adverts popping up on Instagram decided to go see for myself, and my dinner defo looked like the pics I’d seen online & did not disappoint.Barman was knowledgable and keen to let us try alternatives -which were well suggested & we went with in the end!Great selection of tap for such a small bar 👏🏼We got a great table upstairs sat away slightly from other diners in the window overlooking the street/river -perfect for people watching the Sunday strollers & for those with table anxiety or who don’t like sitting too near other diners!Good flavourful hearty portions -meats cooked to request, stuffed full of veg & a huge side of cauliflower cheese 🤤The closest I’ve come to getting a home roast dinner out!The waiter serving us was attentive, took the time to detail the menu, specials & gave us ideal time between to then order, service was fast, we did have a hiccup but was made right without a fuss or being made to feel awkward.(We understand mistakes can happen during a busy service -it’s how they’re managed that counts!)Despite nearly being in a food coma we went for it on desserts, sharing two between three, crumble was so warming & homely for a chilly day! The Oreo doughnut was not what we expected, ok but wouldn’t order again.Great little spot, we will be back to try out the rest of the menu (and bar tapsagain soon!Room for improvement:Ensure ground floor staff keep watch for diners arriving & direct them upstairs.Keep ontop of the digital reservation system.Plz add stuffing w/roast (I do love ALL the trimmings 🐽)An alternative in lieu of cauli-cheese for the allergy diner would be nice (other menu sides didn’t fit w/roast)Lay cutlery before/with the desserts.Plz add Sticky toffee pudding!!We had two different servers which detracted from tipping & meant we had to request the bill.

Wow - sad to say this was a very blah experience. With so many other places in Barnes to eat, I had hoped for a really good experience. I honestly was so underwhelmed that I would have given this a one star. That being said, the staff was lovely, helpful and earned at least one more star for the place! But, unless you only want to pop in for a drink (as the wine list was quite good!), I would skip it. We ordered several items from sharing platters to oysters and other starters. The tuna tartare was nothing like any tartare I have ever seen. It tasted like canned tuna marinated for a bit. Most of the other dishes had overwhelming seasoning which I think was cumin or curry powders. Nothing like a good BBQ. It wasnt inedible, just not good. I think the general consensus was we could have done better at home - even those of us who dont cook much! Perhaps we are spoiled with a lot of other really good choices, but I think unless the food improves, the new Watermans Arms may suffer the same fate as many other places at this location. I am hoping its all the pains of a new restaurant so I will keep an open mind to come back in the future.

Popped in on Sunday for a roast, and i must say the food was pretty dismal compared to what i was expecting after reading generally good reviews, firstly the nut roast was quite like no other and tasted of curry it was rather bizarre who wants that with a roast? The potatoes were disgusting and the roast beef was dry and chewy and when i asked my waiter for more gravy he just ignored me!! Absolutely shocking customer service! All in all the food was rather shallow and pedantic, the new menu is trying way too hard if i wanted fine dining i wouldnt be coming here for it as it falls very short of the mark. There are numerous other establishments in and around the Barnes area with much better food quality and better customer service, i would advise to take your custom elsewhere, good day.

I came in for steak night on Tuesday with my friends and I had terrible service. Firstly we waited 20 minutes just for a menu, then when we ordered our steaks and when it came over because our waiter couldn’t be bothered to walk round the wall in the restaurant. To our shock he passed it through a hole in the wall and nearly dropped it because it was an awkward way to get our food. It was terrible service from a bald waiter who was in the restaurant. But the steaks were very nice just wish it was better service.

Booked a table for 12 people yesterday evening, although running slightly late we was eager to eat at this new pub, and spend lots of money, after reading generally good reviews, we arrived upstairs to be greeted by a member of staff who was unprofessional and slightly rude and informed us that me and my party could no longer dine in the restaurant as we were 20 minutes late?! The pub was not overly busy and the upstairs was virtually empty, I was shocked and we left immediately, we ended up next door in the much classier Bulls Head which we was greeted by a lovely young lady and had an excellent night. Me nor my group of friends will ever step foot back in this establishment and advise people not to come here either, there are plenty of better and more elegant looking pubs than this rundown looking place. It is such a shame as this site has been derelict and empty for many years, but we do advise to stay away and head down to the Bulls Head or the White Hart as they are much better establishments.

Me and my young, rather excitable son initially popped in as he needed the bathroom, which the staff were very kind about. My son eagerly asked if we were staying to eat and as we were both hungry I decided we would. Staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. They were so lovely given my son was slightly rambunctious to start with! They made me feel so at ease and that meant a lot. I had the sausage and mash with onion gravy which was just brilliant! My son had chips, peas and sausage which they kindly switched up from a different meal. The lunch time menu is brilliant with a fair bit of choice. All in all a really lovely pub with great food. It had a lovely feel and Ill definitely be back!

Adore this place. So happy that this location finally has a fantastic pub/restaurant. Have been a number of times now and has a nice vibe. Usually quite busy but with enough room to find a seat. The food is superb and great value. I had the Watermans Burger which consisted of 2 huge patties with bacon and cheese, my god it was naughty but insanely good. My wife had the beef short rib which was cooked perfectly with loads of BBQ sauce. Just stunning. My father in law had the fish and chips, though sadly it came with wedges which he was not impressed with, he would have much preferred chips. The beer here is fantastic, some of it a little pricey but expect the likes of Big Smoke, Odyssey, Northern Monk and Jeffersons amongst other great craft beer names. The staff are nice and very helpful plus dogs are welcome though not upstairs which is fine as I imagine the balcony is a little dangerous for dogs. We have been a number of times now and adore it. We will be back. Welcome to Barnes. Delighted to have you !
