The Water Temple - Museum in Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia
The Zaghouan mountains give the Ancient Ziqua Nymphaeum a beautiful backdrop. The remains are enough to give an idea of its glory days. Remote, but with ancient Uthina & the Aqueduct on the same trip i found it rewarding.
Interesting, but too empty
I liked it very much and hope to visit it again
Family day in the mountains
Perfect
Really impressive temple especially is you know that the water collected there were sent to Carthage 90 km away. Site must be maintained more by adding more signs or guided tours.
Super cool
Beautiful place! Mountain hikes around the temple are absolutely stunning!
Not worth the drive
Found this place randomly on the google map while choosing the spot for visiting on weekend. The road from Sousse to it it’s much more beautiful than the place itself. But marked and putted in into my piggy box of places of interest. It’s very small 5 min will be enough for visit, very badly looked after so lots of garbage in the area as also vomiting inside of the temple ruines. It was rainy so were not able to visit little forest above it. Can’t comment on it.It’s a Roman construction, has been created for extraction and transportation of water to chartage via 139km aqua ductNot worth of travelling so far to see it
The beauty ❤️
Extra!
Its very oldIt was a wonderful experience thank you
Very nice 👌
Nice archeological roman site I visited it during the pandemic , like most areas in Tunisia there is lot’s of potential & natural beauty and huge area to improve on , the state need to improve it governance
It can be more preserved
One of the best places to visit is beautiful
Nice piece of history located in a Parc that invites to spend some time there. Unfortunately all explanations are only French or Arabic and the place is a bit trashy.
Phenomenal! Zaghouan is rich of such historical places that are dating back to the roman era
Very beautiful place, so worthy to visit
In small town in the north of tunisia about a 1h ride by car from the capital. you will find this ancient temple called the water temple of zaghouan. where the God of water used to be worshiped. the place is fairly large and usually not crowded. u can enjoy your launch or grabd a snack before. a large beautiful mount will make your photo looks so beautiful during sunny days. and in tunisia you won t miss sun for sure
Little ruin . Nothing special but a fun day trip
Nice place, old Roman aqua fountain , mountains around. Nice.
Very nice place to visit
It has a such a nice feeling just to itself even though it looks like nothing to do but loads to do and my camera storage got full because I took so many pictures
Nice trip out to see some of the cultural sites in Tunisia.
Great place with a great view.
Love this history.
Good place, I recommend.
place as a place. which are many. requires cleaning and special care, which is not. it makes no sense to go here specifically. but if you are passing through, then take a look.
Great historical place, small but interesting
Visited this as part of a TUI classics tour.... this was ok but there wasnt a lot there. The Roman city in the desert we visited on the way was much better and the tour as a whole was 5 stars.
Immense spaces to breathe and visit the cultural legacy of adeducs and ancient reservoirs of the city, stunning view.Take a picture with the flag
It is an amazing place , cheerful and full of pure air
Such a beautiful place
a beautyful part of tunisias history... unfortunately crowded with familys having some picnic on the artefacts and stones. Unable to clean up the garbage they have left. this place should be more appreciated by the folks but ecpecially by the politics. Poor Tunisia!
look at that amazing picture
Well worth the effort of getting there
Historic archeological site. The beauty of our ancestors manifests itself in these great structures.
Beautiful place to visit
Zaghouane is one of my favorite destination, it may be always so cold in winter but I love when visiting it. As I love running I participated in a Train that enables me to discover more wonderful places in the mountains. I strongly recommend hikers and runners especially to make their sports there. It is favorable ❤️🌎🏃🏻🇹🇳
Wondeful place
A great place to chill and clear your head. This ancient place worked as a water facility that took it all the way from here to carthage. This is a must visit place if youre into history, Looking for a place to chill or even Yoga..
The Water Temple is free to visit and wander around. Its a pretty complex, but theres not a lot to it.
Its a very interesting place, where you can enter for free. Houndreeds years ago water from this mountains flew 70 kilometers away, to Carthage. Now there is no water, but it is still interesting to see this place. Entry is free, the guide speaks only Tunisian an french, but he was very pleasant. He gave flowers for my ladies and daughter, and show me the best places to take photos. If I visit Tunis again, I would come here again.
Nice picture and nice places
The scenery is marvolous ! Its a place where you can have a home cooked meal with your family or the food in its restaurants while enjoying the view. Near the temple there is a gotel, a café, a parc with an amazing view of the moutain and a road that leads to a beautiful camping spot. Just come see for yourself.
Historic site inside natural site
Exhausts ones ability to be astounded. Confirms ones admiration for the works of Hadrian but in the end its a dressed stone semi-circle on a mountainside from which eminates spring water. My abiding memory is of the coach trip to visit viewing huge tracts of red dusty fields cluttered with supermarket polythene bags and the fact that on the edge of the Sahara the site cafe was awash with flood debris from heavy rains that had fallen on the previous day.
Very impressive. Zaghouan supplied Carthage with water. 132 km long aqueduct.
