*Pre- COVID*Me and my partner went for a surprise date night pre lockdown and thought wed try The Violet Green in Norton.Really nice food, friendly staff, great atmosphere and fortunately pretty close to us. Would definitely recommend it.That.. and the 12 yr old Japanese whiskey 🥃🇯🇵
Excellent service and food would recommend
Great restaurant, fabulous food with a great atmosphere and friendly service. Would highly recommend
Delicious food, lovely staff, great little stylish place.
Amazing food. Perfect for date night
We really love it here. Its in an amazing setting in the vaults of an old bank, with lovely arched brick work, music and lighting. We took our 2 boys to chop night last night and the staff and food made it a really excellent evening. Well definitely be back soon. Thanks!
Fabulous food, lovely staff, something different 👍
We went for chop night. We were blown away by the food and service. Definitely recommend
1st experience of Violet Green :Had a delicious meal here last night,Venison cooked to perfection for my hubby,I had chicken so succulent, ample food on the plates.Puddings were fantastic and huge portions.Great service and lovely ambience.
Nice to be back! Bacon chop as good as ever
Always good. A nice ambiance. The meals cooked to perfection. Perhaps the black pepper is overused or should be mentioned on the menu if its a major ingredient.Chop night is always good value. Covid security and the spacing of diners is good, felt perfectly safe.
We ate at The Violet Green for the first time last night and it definitely won’t be the last. Food was delicious, loved the atmosphere and decor and friendly staff. Great little restaurant, highly recommend it.
We have been wanting to try The Violet Green for some time now and we couldnt of been happier with our night. It was our wedding anniversary and it coincided with Violet Green opening again. It was very clean, hand gel in various places and spray to clean the toilet, glass screens have been put up on the booths and have been done well. I didnt realise that they werent always there. Eating out in a pandemic is a little strange, but not here, they handled it well and kept us safe. The service was wonderful, all the staff were really friendly and helpful, the owner was chatting to us customers too, which was a nice touch. Now the food, it was beautiful! Parma Ham crisps to start and we both could of happily eaten just these, all night! Very moreish. My husband has crispy hens egg to start and I the sweetcorn soup, again no complaints and both delicious. For main my husband ordered belly pork and myself the chicken supreme, utterly delicious again, we didnt need any side portions as the meals themselves were filling enough. For dessert we shared the 8 textured chocolate pot, the size of the portion was ideal to share and would of been too much for one person to eat alone, it was very decadent. We genuinely thought the price was very good, for 6 portions of food, 4 pints and a bottle of prosecco it came to £100, a £100 we were more than happy to pay.Thank you for a lovely evening. The bielbys.
Cosy modern setting, lovely food and friendly staff.... would highly recommend
Went for the first time last night, slight delay with our booked table but didnt effect us too much, food is wonderful, really tasty, the waiting staff are fantastic and the lady looking after our table was friendly and a right laugh, well worth the money paid will definitely be back soon. Well done you guys we loved it.
Birthday lunch. Absolutely delicious. Very unique styling. Reminiscent of Caravan Saray in Baku. Food is beautifully prepared, staff are attentive but not obtrusive. Nice wine selection. Whats not to like
Excellent, fantastic experience all round. Unique setting and great service. We had a bottle of new Zealand sav blanc and a Californian pinot noir, both excellent. Really good home made bread and butter, fish special was red mullet which was fabulous and sirloin steak probs the best weve had. Great cabbage side and tiramisu dessert. Espresso martini to finish. Will be back.
Limited menu and drinks, but nice food
Extremely disappointed, booked a week in advance, yet they ran out of Yorkshire puddings and we were offered 2 cut in half between four of us! Ran out of mash no greens and the stuffing wasn’t cooked! Beautiful surroundings but will not return!
Great food. Interesting setting.
Fabulous sunday roast here with the best Yorkshire puddings I have ever tasted, staff and owners are very friendly and attentive
Cosy and unusual dining area. Really good ambience and lovely food. Crème brulé not quite set but tasted delicious!
Excellent food. The vegetarian options were excellent. The steak was one of the best Ive had and cooked perfectly rare. Did I need the oxtail pie with it? Probably not, but Im happy it was there. Cauliflower cheese croquettes were something I could just eat a massive bowl of.
Just had the most amazing meal ,staff excellent, food best Ive tasted in a long while ,will definitely be there next month xx
Superb Sunday lunch. Say no more. Try it you will not be disappointed.
Unique place to eat and chill out.... Lovely food 😍
This is a unique dining environment with upscale cuisine in Norton on the Green, Teesside, England. We walked across the green to the entrance of an old repurposed bank building and descended rustic metal stairs to what used to be the vault and safe area. The stone walls had little recessed areas every few feet along the sides that must have held candles or lamps in the old days. The menu included a nice variety of appetizers and starters, all delicious. I had the roast chicken....wonderful....and my companions had sea bass and steak respectively. They seemed equally pleased with their choices. I usually dont do desserts but the options here are not to be missed. Add the cheerful and charming staff providing great service to the mix, and youre all set for a lovely evening.
Great food and atmosphere! Beautiful venue
Something out of the ordinary with fantastic food!Managed to impress me from starter all the way to dessert
Unique restaurant. Beautiful food. Definitely recommend
Was quite disappointed, while the food was ok my main meal was the size of a starter . Had ice cream as a dessert which was £5 extra on the bill . 3 scoops of ice cream nothing else no wafer ,sauce or anything and it was tasteless., have tasted better in the 99p big tubs from the supermarket. Wont be back
Brilliant good service.Good open Mike . Thoroughly enjoyed an early summer evening
Wonderful food, staff. Recommended.
A special place. Really tasty, quality, well prepared food. Relaxed and definitely at the more sophisticated end of the scale. For me, the best restaurant for miles.
Cracking food. lovely presentation. Well looked after by the staff. Well worth the walk
Great food but still not worth the huge price tag
Delicious, high quality fresh food in a moody setting with a good view of the kitchen staff working. If youre looking for a great place for a date, or a treat for friends and family, The Violet Green will cater to your needs perfectly.Staff are super friendly and will accommodate your every need where possible.
Really nice quaint and friendly staff the food is gorgeous.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONBooked for wifes birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the evening , staff very attentive and friendly , delicious food from a small but varied menu , will definetely return to try the live music evenings , loved the setting as it was cosy and unusual, something different.
It was a fantastic experience and one I will have no hesitation in repeating. I had the most wonderful steak. It was done to my complete satisfaction and just as I requested it. The surroundings are very quaint and cosy and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The staff are very friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for me. The presentation of the meal was beautiful and the menu was very nice and extensive. The price was more than other places Ive been to recently but the quality more than justify the cost. Id happily recommend it to anyone and I will certainly be back. A wonderful experience.
Went for chop night and they had Chateaubriand on. Convinced the wife to share. Lovely meal, good value, the sides were beautiful in their own right which really made the dish.
Amazing food and fantastic service, will definitely return!
Thoroughly enjoyed the £20 a head chop night.First time we have visited and will go again. Liked the set meal format menu which allows you to have off it one drink of your choice, select one from the various starters and chops and then two side dishes for one inclusive price. We both had paid the additional £5 and had steak which was very succulent.
Fabulous food. Beautiful space. Friendly service. Went with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. Loved it. Would definitely go back for a special occasion.
Just what Norton needs. Something that sets the rest apart from the bars and restaurants. Food is fantastic, some would say pricey, but you get what you pay for. Quality food and quality service. Been 4 or 5 times since opening and theyre very welcoming. Cheers Anna and Chris 👍
Staff very attentive, food overpriced small portions and undercooked returned to kitchen.Better places in Norton to eat.
Visited with my Mam & Sister, was lovely. Tasty food, a little expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
I visited this restaurant tonight with my partner & our son. He’s a toddler & we can sometimes worry when taking him to restaurants, as he can get a bit chewy! We booked for an early tea, at 5.30 and the staff were great, all very friendly & accommodating.Between us we had the steak, salmon & a couple of small plates. Then for dessert we had the doughnuts, which were amazing! All in all it was a lovely restaurant, great staff, atmosphere & food. We would both definitely recommend anyone to try it!
Good atmosphere but really need more light above tables. Has to use torch to read menu! Nice enough food but overpriced.
Food and service was great, we however did think it was overpriced. We had the feed me menu which entailed of cheese straws, olives, trout, scallops, venison and fillet of beef and these were small plates that we shared and it was £70 that didnt even include dessert. We worked out that it only saved us £2 picking that option. All in all nice food but we shall not be returning
