Down-to-earth basement venue dishing up East African food amid Somali artefacts and folk music.
***The restaurant has closed down***Fantastic authentic Somali food. Service is a bit iffy but the food more than makes up for. The breaded chicken with white sauce linguini is amazing. So is their lamb shank but you have to get there early as they always run out of this.
I come here to eat pasta and watch the leng mali boys ngl
For me it’s not even a restaurant looks more like a place you can find in Africa .The cook was not welcoming at all no hello no thanks nothing .the white paper sheet on the table was dirty and not change between customers will never go back again
Decided to delete my old review as I have given this place a try again since then!Take outs and eating in has been good so far. Food is always tasty and portion sizes are generous. Also service might be a bit slow at start but they make sure to check up on you👍🏽
Me and my friends had the option of going to Chinee or Somali. So what can I say? Let’s start of with customer service.. pure disrespect I received my meal before I even received my starter and not giving me the pasta dish I asked for. The staff also slammed Our drinks on the table. When it come to paying the pirate upstairs was showing us pure disrespect even though two of us in the group of four was from the same country. Last but not least thanks to apple for their find my iPhone service my friend left his phone behind we went back and the lady who served us said she doesn’t have the phone after she has already cleaned the table. We went out and came back in and pressured the staff until they handed over the phone. DONT GO TO THIS PLACE. 0/10. IF I HAD THE OPTION TO POST WITHOUT A STAR I WOULD.
I really loved the food and especially the green sauce that came with the dishes. Anyone knows what the sauce is called? Hoping the owners see this!
Great food and great team
I’ve visited this restaurant and really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and the customer service was great! I would recommend their salmon pancake and soor & suqaar for a more light and healthy lunch.
Great food but i think they have changed there chef
it is absulatly rebish and very expensive i would not go back again
Very bad. The food was terrible. Plus rude staff.
The food was delicious the service wonderful. The food is freshly made i will definatly go back worth the long journey . 👍🏼
Great food i all ways come here and never had any bad food just surprised what others are saying about it in the reviews. The only thing that i will say is that they should do is take oders on the phone.
Differnt food and pretty tasty
This Somali restaurant is the best. They’ve got delicious tasting spaghetti with white sauce that tastes so good with a stake chicken on the side. The portion is big and keeps you full and if you cannot finish it you can take it home. The drinks are amazing especially the mango shake. I definitely recommend everyone to go to the village for a reasonable price on delicious Somali food and they’ve also got good service. 5*
After the star chef who owns the restaurant went to Somalia around 10 or so years ago, this place has gone downhill. It used to be one of the best Somali restaurants in the UK but now it’s a shell of what it was. I brought my friends here and I felt so embarrassed. The place hasn’t been redecorated since it opened, it’s so dingy in that basement. Then when it came to ordering they had nothing in the menu, leaving my friends 7 year old to exclaim “then what DO you have” in frustration. I don’t know why they opened that day, we came at 5 or 6pm which is prime time for most restaurants. It’s shame because when they do have food it’s out of this world, I don’t know anywhere that makes polenta and meat like they do. I would advice that they hire a manager and reclaim their title.
Their food is quite authentic as authentic as a restaurant can be and they are friendly. Which is important to me. Plenty of Somalis so thats always a good sign. They dont deliver so I always order a takeaway to take home.
Very friendly staff. The food was delicious. The price was reasonable. Top Somali Chef. 5 *
Food was good, actually exceeded my expectations. Service was nice, the venue decor could improve though. Seating is in the basement not the most appealing, creates bit of dodgy atmosphere
I am giving zero, very poor food. We were given cold food me and my family not nice taste food the meat was hard to chew it looks like the meat was cook three days ago.we were given cartons juice and we were charge £41 which the food is not deserve even €10
THE WORST NOT JUST SOMALI BUT WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!! Horrible, i took one bite and couldnt eat. This place needs to be closed down embarrassing!Never again! Avoid this place. Waste of time and MONEY!
My first time at this restaurant was in 2009 and it quickly became one of my favourite restaurants to go over the years. This used to be a very nice restaurant that offered contemporary Somali cuisine that was simple and just good food. I am very disappointed to see how this restaurant has deteriorated over the years. However after my experience last night its with heavy heart that I shall never ever set a foot in this premises. Lets say the list of issues is too long for this brief review and I thank mighty Allah swt for allowing me to wake up in good health this morning after the meal I had last night. Please I urge people if you care about your health and hard earned money THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO!!
This meal was the best meal I’ve had in this place , but to be fair it’s the only meal I’ve had their and never tried anything else. I’ve been a customer for almost 6 years, but when they tried convincing me that this chicken that was full of oil and partially burned on some place was actually made like that well, I guess that was it for me. I hope they get a better waiter and decorate the place with modern theme and some lights please.
Food is great. I love the Soor Salmon. I love the potato starter & pinapple chicken started. I love the goat cheese starter. Ooo. Nice food.
Brilliant Somali cuisine. You can get tasty food for a reasonable price. Including starters, main and desert for about £15 but feels and tastes like should be worth double. The portions are great too and if you cant finish you can take the rest home. The food is made fresh with a window available to view the chef at work. Wide range of drinks too from fresh fruit cocktails to mango shakes. If you have not tried high class Somali cuisine before then this is a must.
Nice place food perfect.and service was descent.
Lovely food and service was outstanding recommended this restaurant to everyone of my friends and family plus they all agree amazing
Small and basic. Starters were very good. Main courses only ok.
Best Somali restaurant and traditional food I really recommend it if you want to have a good spicy East African food specialist Somalian food
Good food! Loved my pasta Alfredo.
Good food, a bit pricey though. Service is alright when not busy
Food was nice didn’t wait to long for the food to come out. Service not so good but not too bad that I left in satisfied
For a Somali restaurant this place is on point. The dishes are all well presented and taste as good as they look. They have a range of traditional dishes with plenty of seating.I highly recommend the Suqaar, Salmon Pancake and Soor dishes.
Very cold reception, the food was not up to my standards as the sauce that was topped on my food was the wrong one it just didnt go with what I chose, the juice as it stated on the menu its was not the same as when the waitress brought it to us, it was a shop bought juice , very disappointed, did not eat the food at all , the worst experience I have ever had . I would not recommend to anyone.
Service is very slow but the food is outstanding the place needs a new look tho
Nice local feel cafe , with honest holsome munch to fill u up in the morning after a late 1.
Delicious food. We went late so we didn’t get to order hot drinks or dessert. But I would definitely recommend
Such delicious African food!
I go here alot and it never fails to impressFoods always nice and the service is fantastic.Family friendly as well
Really delicious food, friendly staff who were happy to explain what things were and make recommendations, and the portions are HUGE (so if you dont have a big appetite, there is probably no need to get a starter, although they are tasty). This place doesnt look like much from the outside, and the decor is fairly basic, but the food and the staff make it excellent.
I thought id try something VERY different for a change, i tried to order a halal chicken dippers with rice, but somehow i got a skiddy pancake with moi moi cream smothered on it served a dollop of pungent julloff rice next to it with a giant lump of dried faeces on a bed of green expired poppadoms, i complained about it and asked what the faeces was and he told me it was "Akite" and he took a bite out of it and spat in my face and yelled "ahlloullo666uoeusjeh....wallahii....ahlloul7louoe9usjeh!!!",i was scared for my life, i clutched my fake pearls and sprung out of my seat only for them to chase me all the way out of the borough with ancient tribal spears that they took off the walls and tried to attack me with
Excellent food with a tasty local twist on tradition and fantastic, friendly staff that has generosity to sell.
Hidden restaurant with great food and service was really friendly and helpful with recommendations!
Love this resturant, come here all the time after my first visit. I recommend people to try it out
Entrance is hidden away along the road off hammersmith broadway amongst the shops. The front door (just look out for a small group of menacing somali girls loitering outsidego in to a corridoor and the resturant is down stairs. No windows but well lit.The decor is absolutely no frills but to be honest i dont want to be surrounded by frills when im eating somali food. You kind of want to feel like youve just stepped into some aunties kitchen canteen off the beaten track somewhere near Mogadishu and this place delivers that in droves. They dont have injero :( which is a real shame (please add to the menu it if your reading this owner!!)The food is the sort of thing your somali mates mum would make you round at his house and you would rave about it to your family for weeks. Its a somewhat limited menu but what they do put out is really nice fresh, flavoursome and generous.. The samosas were a really meaty crunchy good hot starter, they were served with a lively green chilli condiment! I asked for lemon with them and got lime which was fine. The chicken dishes are a bit unexciting but they are served with really good somali rice or ravioli (lots of italian influences in the menu)My main, the beef with maize was really lovely and went down a treat with that green chilli condiment (which they should bottle and sell!)Friendly service, well worth a visit if your interested in sampling east african cuisine but pick your meal carefully for an authentic experience and be prepared for them not to have all the things on the menu.
I am happy to see the video Mister chief Ahmed Wish all the beast in FutureMashaalh taa salaam
My friend and I came here for lunch today. It was eerily quiet and dark in the restaurant. The food arrived quickly. We ordered two grilled chicken salads from the lunch menu - wanted the lamb chops but they had run out, and other than that there wasnt much choice. It was alright I guess, nothing special, but they used far too much sweet chilli sauce. Perhaps the evening menu is better but I havent tried it. Its unlikely I will come back again.
Incredible food and customer service. Its a regular for me and quite honestly is on the top of the pile when it comes to Somali cuisine in London. Whilst the setting is definitely no frills the food is exemplary and the pinnacle of excellence. Very moderately priced and very friendly staff. A must see as my words do it justice. I recommend the lamb shoulder which is melt in your mouth.
Chicken pancake is amazing. New favorite food when in London
Excellent food, suitable for all taste and choice
