90 Bonham Road, Pok Fu Lam Rd, Hong Kong, Hong Kong
University of Hong Kong museum housing ancient Chinese artifacts, especially bronzes & ceramics.
Complete the understanding of HKU by including the museum in your visit.
One of the Le French May 2022 photo exhibition of Chun Wai held in this beautiful avenue - the gallery in this antique building was always a nice place to visit. Its tranquility alone was somewhat an attraction. An the university was celebrating its 111th anniversary, there was more happening and things to explore in the HKU campus.
The Gothic show is terrific. Got lows of interesting information about it. Including how to recognize them from other ages and how to appreciate them.
Great
Informative, enlightening
nice place to hang out
Open again and featuring three different special exhibits. The one titled Colors of Congo is particularly attractive. Well worth a visit, just a short walk from Exit C of the Sai Ying Pun MTR station.
The most academic und international museum in Hong Kong with spectacular exhibitions and interesting programming.
Exquisite building with about 90 year‘s history, but a little bit small. It’s worth visiting if you just pass by HKU.
Very good
The security didnt let me in at the main entrance and the side entrance is blocked/ closed. I have no idea if the security havent understood me or if thats a brand new law: "only with university membercard".
Not very attractive and a quiet museum
A recap of 2015 July in HKU...
Always many interesting books, catalogues , souvenirs, art, photography, sculptures. Very friendly stuff. Art lectures and workshops are also available. Good for local people and tourists.
Can watch different art exhibitions here from time to time.
Providing good historical exhibits
Amazing. Great collections of bronzes, sculptures and ceramics. A pleasant history bubble.
Nice university and a beautiful view!
Beautiful scenery. Good for photo taking.
The most impressive collection in the museum is a few chains of sculptures, such as religious figures,on winewares, brush cases, made by woods, stones or ivory,in its second floor.
Pretty cool. Nice history.
Really liked the two exhibitions !
Some of the highly famous photographers work is featured here
Nice museum with a couple.
Small but good museum, especially at such a "prime" location. Often there are unique exhibitions. Should also visit the other exhibition hall next door (in a heritage buidling).
You will find fine Chinese art and western art exhibitions
Well curated arts space
The mark of Hong Kong University
A small but nice museum with a couple of exhibits. It was free to go in.
What they had was Great but over all a disappointing experience with most of the exhibits closed
The University of Hong Kong is home to the University Museum and Art Gallery, housed in the Fung Ping Shan Building at 94 Bonham Road. Hong Kongs oldest museum, it is renowned for its collection of bronzes and ceramics. There are three main periods of bronzes represented by the various items: vessels from the Shang and Zhou Dynasty; mirrors from the Warring States period; and crosses from the Yuan Dynasty. The ceramics collection includes Han Dynasty funerary urns as well as more recent works from other parts of China
SmallMuseum with free entry. There is a permanent exhibit of Chinese artifacts. Check their website to see what they are showing as their temporary exhibit. They very will often bring in interesting collections to show.
The gallery was an exhibition of famous photojournalist Bosshards coverage of China and Mongolia during the 30s. Quite informative, and a mix of photographs and video recordings.
Always quality exhibits.
Free exhibitions though a bit small, there are both free and charged activities, can be found in their website
Good, rare pieces on permanent exhibit here, and every now and then there are special exhibitions here too, well managed.
Went for the latest exhibition on Ink Cityscapes which was OK; the more permanent displays didnt interest me as much.
Nice historic building, interesting exhibits
nice and a quiet place to enjoy the art:)
Free museum open to the public. Fancy historic building. Nice architecture.
Pictures Of The Past until Jan 8
Worth checking out if youre passing by and enjoy historical furniture, photography and art.Pro tip: take a stroll around the university area afterwards (or skip the art and just go for that).
Free museum yall nice for a quick visit
Mainly for exhibition. Free admission.
Nice, small museum with interesting exhibits. A bit too small for an extra trip to this museum.
The photos of Yao Lu make one think about how society takes care of our planet. Museum is nice visit if you are in the area. It is too small for a special trip.
The receptionist is more helpful
Good to go for western and central district
A great place to visit while you visit HKU. Its one of the oldest building of the university named by Fung Ping Shan, who also named the Chinese Library of HKU and also oldest museum in Hong Kong. The building now is a Grade I Historic Building. The collection is mainly Chinese antiquities and the museum occasionally hosts themed exhibition.
Their collection will surprise you!
