The University Club - Madison - Club in Madison, United States
We have holding events and celebrations as well as having lunch at the University Club in Madison for decades. It is a grand old building with charm and tradition oozing from it but the kitchen and bar are what really make TUC memorable. I have scheduled large and small events at TUC and the staff and service have always been outstanding. The menu is well executed and interesting while meeting budget. Held both our sons graduation celebrations there and was so happy to have delicious food and beverage at a historic and easy location for friends and family. This is a family tradition we will continue to enjoy.
Lovely venue. Lots of character.
Wonderful atmosphere. Nostalgic evidence of the background behind the UW.
The University Club was the perfect spot for our wedding in June. Sarah is the best Event Manager ever. Throughout the whole planning process she was extremely communicative, transparent and organized. She made our entire experience fun and easy, and the party was perfect because of her and her staff. Cant say enough great things about this beautiful venue - it is truly a gem in Madison. You cant beat the timelessness of it, the location and price.
Welcoming living room on campus. Old world charm and good tavern food.
The University Club was the perfect place to have our wedding reception! Sarah was so amazing to work with, helping us plan the timeline and answering every random little question in a very timely manner. We dropped off our decor items and she and her staff did everything for us, so there wasnt anything we had to worry about. They were able to accommodate many dietary restrictions at no extra charge, and the serving staff was great at bringing out food for our guests with young kids a little earlier than the rest of their table so they could get home in time for their bedtime. The food and drinks were great (we loved the tempura shrimp skewers at cocktail hour especially). The venue was absolutely gorgeous, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for those who didnt want to dance, and a really beautiful historic interior and exterior. If you want a gorgeous location with more character than your average hotel ballroom, this is the perfect venue.
A historic building, great lunch and tapas menu
This is secretly one of the best places for breakfast on campus. There were no other customers the entire time I was there. Decent customer service, really beautiful interior (inside one of the old buildings on campus). I had the corn flake French toast. I was a little skeptical of the idea, but now I am 100% sold. Caramelized, crunchy coating on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside. The corn flake crumble is a fantastic texture. If I remember correctly, the syrup was either a chocolate or caramel sauce. I almost never order the same thing on a menu, but I might have to do that again next time. Small breakfast menu, but thats what makes it fantastic. They know how to make their food to perfection.
Nice campus restaurant!
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there 6 years ago and people are still talking about what wonderful food, aymosphere, and attention all 120 guests from all over the world received. The University Club bent over backwards to make the celebration a lasting memory for us and our guests.
The building is Fabulously gentrified and has a wonderful feeling of times gone by.I love it, but not sure what that means for the future. I felt like the view was to the past, and not Including and Enhancing the past to combine into a present-day polished and comfortable experience.I was here last summer to have lunch on the deck. It was really nice, but we were the only table. We were there for a holiday dinner this time, which was superb. The staff all seemed very young (students?). They were attentive and dinner was delicious. We took the bus and walked over from the bus stop at the end of State Street - not too far, about two blocks. Our friends parked and had a bit more of a hike from there. All fine on a pleasant day or evening, but would not be as much fun walking over in bad weather. Not sure if a taxi or Uber could get you closer.Would go again. Will be interesting to see what decisions are made for the future of this grand, beautiful, but maybe under-utilized, venue. If this was helpful, please click the Like button.
Wonderful dining atmosphere. Feels like youve stepped back in time. Healthy menu selection. Great seasonal salads. Daily specials. Something for everyone.
Different
Parking at nearby city ramp. Neat old ornate building for University meetings & functions. Open to general public for breakfast & lunch.
Awesome building. We attended a private wedding and it was a perfect venue.
Beautiful location, food is delicious, and the staff was amazing.
Decent food at a decent price, excellent service.
Decent prices and excellent quality - fast polite service.
Great building on campus, with an al fresco option. The lunch was very good; good vegetarian options at very reasonable prices. Quinoa/Cauliflower burger and sweet potato fries was delicious. I think its one of the best values in town. Would definitely return.
Very pleasant restaurant with great service. The Club is a quiet respit amidst a thriving, active campus setting. Solid menu at reasonable prices. In good weather you can dine al fresco.
Nice venue for a wedding reception! We all had a great time and its really hard to beat its location on campus!
We have our department annual party here and it is great!
Gets better every visit.
Yummy, but not consistent. Super convenient location for a sit down lunch. Nice ambiance.
The food was a bit dry. Liked the service.
Nice place
Attended a wedding reception and food was great. Generous on the pour as well. The park is directly in front and lots of people and things to see from the patio. Definitely recommend booking an event at The University Club.
Really really delicious food at a decent price and fantastic service!!!
Very nice selection of food. Service was wonderful. Very close to Lake Mendota. My only complaint is that the windows are so high you cant really see out of them while seated. Unfortunate because the lake is within walking distance.
The building needs a makeover, some lighting would be nice
Best executive chef in the state!
Nice place to hangout while watching activities on the lake. They serve nice beer with lemonade and ice cream
The food and service has improved dramatically. I budget to enjoy eating lunch here at least once a month.
Great historical meeting and wedding venue full of history and character. As of 2016 being run of great team with friendly and professional staff! Will fit any budget. Highly recommended! Open daily for lunch and dinner!
It is home to me.
Beautiful classic building that is excellent for large business breakfasts and lunches (my only experiences with it have been in this way). They employ attentive catering staff and the meals are well-priced for groups (having been on the cheque-writing side of things several times). While dining here, the buildings vibe will make you feel like youve stepped back in time to the 1950s.
