Iconic roadside sculpture created for the 1964 New York World’s Fair depicting a massive tire.
Its cool and you can see it clearly from I-94.
Legend says that this is what is left of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Oxs car after they created the Great Lakes and the St Lawrence Seaway all in the name of maple syrup for our pancakes. Or maybe its just a part of a ferris wheel used in NYCs Worlds Fair.Welcome to Michigan, where we are obsessed with cars. This giant tire off I-94, has welcomed Michiganders home since the 1960s. I would love to see the area opened up for car enthusiasts to gather since its just an iconic part of Southeast Michigan.
Giant frying pans, baseball bat, ball of yarn, and what better than a giant tire to represent the Detroit area! Excellent photo op, not easily accessible and perhaps best viewed from the road.
On private property, "no tresspassing," cannot get remotely close, would need to cross busy, unguarded train tracks. No good place to take photo without fencing and trees.
Its fine.
Cool Detroit Michigan roadside icon....
Just amazing 😀
Great view from Enterprise drive.
Very cool big tire.
Its a giant tire. Free views.
Just a tire in the motorcycle pretty cool though
Looks nice
Good 😊🙂
Se ve impresionante la llanta
So cool
This is unique road side attraction in Michigan.. also there is a history behind this Big tire since 1965 New York Worlds Fair... I think this belongs in MI <3
Best place to see it at is going east on I-94 its pretty big coming from the airport thats how you know you got to Dearborn heights, Taylor and Dearborn
Great site to see but I wish they would rebuild her back into a fairswheel like she was originally supposed to be
Good amazing wonderful
The iconic tire off of 94 what more needs to be said. Inside view
Love this iconic tire. Driving on 94 and seeing the giant tire has always been a staple. A must see when going into Detroit.
Its a piece of history along I 94.
Its a big tire....
What a great way to recycle! #WorldFairDetroit
I got a flat tire and pulled off the road right next to this thing. Highly ironic.
It is what it is
A classic piece of modern art, part of the Allen Park landscape since it was moved there after its debut at the 1964 Worlds Fair in NYC.
This is the one of the most iconic landmarks in the Motor City. It is also a great example of marketing genius. It was built as a tire shaped Ferris wheel for the 194-65 New York Worlds Fair. After the fair, the outer shell (no moving partswere shipped to its current location and rebuilt on a new frame. For those that complain about not being able to park close to it, remember that it is basically just a very large, three-dimensional billboard. It is designed to get your attention, and be seen from the expressway, which it does extremely well! There is a "Fans of the Giant Tire" Facebook group you can join, if you want to learn more about it, and stay current on the latest news about it.
This a monument to locomotion. The effiel has nothing in this tire. People all across the world would make pilgrimage to this tire.
I drove by there and stomped because there was a Pokemon that I wanted to catch and the application said that it was located at the bottom of the tire. The tire was originally made out of an old ferris wheel That Was Then covered with rubber and used as advertising for Uniroyal it has been there forever I can even see it from my backyard during the winter. Its a local Oddity with some degree of international Fame. It is not recommended that you pull over to try and visit it as it were. Its completely surrounded by fencing and barbed wire. Aside from that you need to pull over on the side of an extremely busy highway and the police do not take very kindly to those who pull over merely for the purpose of viewing the attraction as it interferes with traffic and as a safety hazard.
Pass it on the train when were working.. you cant really visit it
Very disappointed with this place. We drove 45 minutes out of our way on our vacation to see "the biggest tire in the world" and there are no trespassing signs and a gate making it impossible to get close enough to take pictures of it. The best view is driving passed it in the highway. Learn from our misfortune and dont bother visiting.
Love this thing! I rode it at the Worlds Fair in 1965!
Its a neat little attraction. Dont bother following your GPS though. Itll take you to the back of an industrial park where the furthest you can get is right by some gated off rail road tracks stating that it is private property. Youre better off taking I 94 East and pulling off to take a picture. The one picture shows what I first saw from behind the highway. Unless youre trying to get a shot of perspective to show how much taller it is than the trees blocking half of it, take the high way.
Its great to see the big tire welcoming me to Detroit!
A fun drive by on I-94. I did some reading on Wikipedia and gave some fun facts to my road trip companions.
I remember the Marlboro man use to stand not to far from the tire😏😑
MOTOR CITY, BABY!!!
Its a giant ex-ferriswheel tire... Whats not to like.
This is a cool place to see. It is at the end of Enterprise Road, just off of Southfield. BE CAREFUL. YOU HAVVE TO CROSS THE RAILROAD TRACKS TO GET TO THE GIANT TIRE. BUT THERE ARE NO TRESPASSING SIGNS POSTED. I wouldnt recommend you trespass.
Im a fan of the Uniroyal Giant Tire is its official name. It is a great landmark of Metro Detroit. It was shipped to Detroit where it was reassembled without its passenger gondolas in 1966 as a static display at the Uniroyal sales office. When the sales office moved the Landmark stayed thankfully. I just think it is a neat Detroit monument and its history. If youre in town definitely worth the drive by to see it. According to its conflicting history, its height is 80-86 feet tall and weighs 12 tons. It was used at the Worlds fair in 1964. The gondolas were removed and not placed back on it after the fair. The Uniroyal Giant Tire has had a couple makeovers over the years.
How can you write a bad review about this?

I love seeing that big tire.. Once Ive passed the tire, I know Im home in Detroit!
Wow. This tire used to be an actual farris wheel. Its not real rubber but like glass fiber polyurethane kinda thing. Its all on Wikipedia
Its amazing the things we have a fondness for. I want to roll past that on my way back to Detroit & Windsor someday soon. Havent visited since 1996.
