The Ukrainian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Kirovohrad

A city fortress built into the groundwork defense of the city of Kiev. Stretching for miles in multiple covering positions. Awesome to understand once you see how the defenses worked together.

Great experience to visit this place. Brings the great european wars to life. Good place to visit with kids and family. Car parking is available. Quite a bit of walking will be required. This place is wheelchair friendly.If you love military photogtaphy this is the place to take ur camera to. Tanks, planes and soldier status can be foubd here. Most of the meuseum is open air so be watchful of the weather. Good for a couple of hours visit.

Amazing place, you can walk there it’s like a park with green areas and army machines displayed outside, so you can choose to walk and have a look for free or you can pay and go inside the museum to look at more details like world war 2, and recent Russian conflict in Luhansk etc

Nice place to go to. Place has a exponents from currant war with Russia, also the 1st world war, 2nd world was and holocaust. A place to go with kids or not .

The view of the national flag is something out of this world! The size of it made me gasp 😲They did a great job, beautiful view in here 👌🏼

Loved it , such a great & fun & informative museum, i loved the outside and the inside, you get to see the WW2 Armored cars & planes and big beautiful statues all that outside, then u go inside and see lots of ww2 events , its even in English i was so glad , i highly recommend this museum you wont regret it, oh & the entrance fee is cheap

It is Spivoche Pole and we got lucky to be during floral exhibition and pre festivities for Independence day. This is just one more awesome stop exploring Kyiv.

You should have time to visit here. Its gorgeous place and have detailed memories for world war. The museum needs extra money but its really fair and it deserves.

Good museum with very friendly and nice staff even if they cant speak english. It is too bad that the legend of some war items would be translated in english.

Its a nice museum but the only problem I faced was that not everywhere English translation was provided.

So freaking cool. Even the grounds around this place are beautiful.Plaques explained everything in English and Ukrainian. Apparently you can climb inside the helicopter but it was closed for Corona. ☹️Lotta sad stories coming out of the conflict near Donetsk. Was very sad to see how many Ukrainian soldiers have died. Theres a small exhibit of cars that have come from that region where the recent conflict is and has been.Go and considering paying the entrance fee to the war II area to support best place. Seriously one of the coolest museums.

A must visit when in Kiev ( kyivbreathtaking memorials, military machines, and off course the jewel in the crown the motherland monument.Immaculate grounds and some amazing views. Wear sensible footwear as be covering some distance here.

One of the best history museums I have evet visited. Very well organized and maintained. Definately worth the visit.

Beautiful place named as museum, but it doesnt look or feel as one. It is actually a memorial complex. And it is huge, enormous. Actually, everything in it is so big that its size covers the main purpose and message of this memorial.

Lots of information about the most recent attack by Russia in 2014 incl. personal testimonials, which was new to me, and WW2. Interesting monuments too including tanks, cars used in the 2014 conflict and a huge statue. The museum and the area around it are quite large so youll need 1-2 hours to really take it all in. One downside was that its far away from he centre so not many cafes/restaurants nearby

This is a part of the Ukrainian history, cant do anything about it, just to accept. Not good (a lot of greaf), not bad (protect your family and your country).

Visited during winter 2020A lot of interesting and detailed exhibits about world war 2 within the museum. Theres a new exhibit on the ground floor about the current war with Russia. You can spend around 2 hours in the museum.Outside there are exhibits of tanks, airplanes etc.

This museum is just okay. Unfortunately it is not really interactive nor informative but just a gathering of things from the past. I felt like the structure was still influenced by Soviet times. I have seen more neutral museums before. Fortunately you can get student discounts. I would maybe recommend it for a rainy day but in general there is so much things in Kiew I would visit before.

What a tragedies Ukrainian people go through and they come back stronger.I admired how they fight for their right and freedom. The museum is well maintained and organized.You will take around an hour to finish it.I highly recommend it.You can reach by car or walking . I actually walked here and took car to go back

The museum has got some renovations and looks a bit better than before. Some people say you can enter the head of the Mother Motherland monument and from there you can see amazing views of Kyiv, but I never have been there. Need to try it ones.

Very impressive museum. You need to pay a small entrance fee. Theres an extra fee if you want to go up and do the sightseeing from the Motherland statue. Both tickets can be bought at the entrance to the museum.

a good experience the place you get. A story you get about Odessa history defends Odessa through the history of Odessa. Remember a place that takes about 3 hours to see. history experience

The best part of the museum was the indoor section where you need to pay in order to enter. There was a very moving exhibition about the war in Crimea (didnt take pictures because it was some kind of disrespectfuland also the permanent exhibition about II World War (Eastern Europe). I am not very fond of War museums but it is always worthy since there is always something new to learn. The only disadvantage was that not all written explanations are provided in English so you have to do your own research if you want to go deeper in knowledge. After paying the entrance make sure you go downstairs to leave your belongings, otherwise it is not possible to enter the museum.

The place itself is amazing! Real Ukrainian spirit of fighting for the country and being united is there. You can see real tanks here, over 100 meters tall female warrior monument and incredible view on Kiev.I’m local but I’m falling in love with Ukraine all over again when I go to places like this one.

Very large, well laid out and well planned war memorial located right at the river banks D’Napier where the battle was fought from.The entry fees are nominally priced, the exhibits are very well laid out, well kept and staff is very courteous.

Like tanks, gardens and monuments this is the right place. In here you can see all sort of tanks with a small description on where they were used and produced. Also they have helicopters and planes out in the open, even if you dont want to enter the museum. You can even climb 3 of those in front of the Statue to take pictures for your social Media report! Its also home of big gardens where you dont hear the city noise and can relax and enjoy the sun and calm your Spirit.

Great collection of wheeled and tracked armoured vehicles, guns and some aircraft.Not all in the best condition and you must brush up your language as most signs are in Ukrainian.If youre visiting the Motherland statue this is a must-see, just around the corner.

Its shows vehicles from World war two and after, there are some tanks, aircrafts and the famous Mig 17 and Mig 23. Good place to see part of the history.

Nice museum.Good exhibitions.However, museum location is a little bit wrong. Museum is exactly under Motherland monument.However ISIC card doesnt worth there. Only ukrainian student cards.

The museum grounds are beautiful. Lots of cool architecture and amazing monuments. Great place to spend some time wandering around and taking photos.

Beautiful autumn colors and perfect sky line of the city. There is no fee, just come and enjoy, lots of people having picnics, very relaxing atmosphere. The monument is really huge and beautiful in reality, beautiful view from there to the city in the horizon.

I went all the way up (90 meterson the statue and the experience is totally worth it. There are a lot of requirements for the weather and for each person who wants to go up (what you are wearing, physical condition etcand there is a good reason for that. There will be some waiting time as only two people can go up at once. Its better to call them to make sure they are taking people up that particular day and come over first thing in the morning. The service for that specific experience while you are trying to schedule and while you are waiting is not on the highest level, thus Im giving 4 stars, so be ready for that. Once you are going up everything is good.

This sits right outside of the Motherland Monument, with some interesting vehicles, art, and sculptures. Easy to get to, wide open spaces, very inexpensive exhibits, and... Just a really cool place. They did a spectacular job putting this together!

Definitely this is the best museum I have ever visited. War history in such a creatively prepared space. Exposition is breathtaking, everything is just great. There is only one disadvantage. Everything is written in ukrainian language and signs, so if you can not read it, you are done. My experience was to pay a guide. We spent there six and half hours together listening to stories about war, he was translating everything for us. Just perfect experience! Totally recommend! Must see in Kyiv (if you have at least 6 free hours to spend in museum).

Amazing museum, and worth spending a couple of hours to walk the grounds outside. The museum is inside the ‘Mother Motherland’ statue, and it’s worth asking if you can go up it (parts were under construction when I was there, but amazing views even from the middle!).

Pretty big exhibition. Very interesting. Numerous personal belongings, photos, equipment, documents, maps make this museum really impressive. Unfortunately we had only one hour to review the artifacts though I am sure two or more hours can be easily spent there reviewing details of these dark pages of human history. Will definitely return there in future.

Yoiu should definetly hire a guide price is about 2 eur per guide ;lots of information and nice museum on the side with tanks

It was one of the most marvelous museums I have ever seen which located beneath the glorious Motherland Monument. The entrance is 60 UAHs for adults. From the Second World to the current Russian aggression taking place in the eastern Ukraine, there were numerous exhibitions. Also every artifact in display is authentic. In comparison with the other Ukranian museums, there are proper English information cards with substantial facts about the relevant event, war, era etc. It is a bit far from the downtown area but I think it costs around 100-150 UAHs (one wayby cab. One should not Kiev without seeing this place. You will have the full picture of the Ukranian independence and patriotism by the end of your visit.

One of the best museum in Kiev. It is actually combined with Motherland Monument. Many military cars, tanks planes meet you at first. Under the Motherland Monument is the 3- floors of history is waiting for you. Entrance fee is 20 uah for adults. If you want to take photos additional 30 uah is paid, for videos 50 uah. (prices are for2017 )

Cheap place to visit. Good variety of military vehicles and planes ( A few, you can get into for a tiny charge). The huge Rodina Mat Motherland steel statue is something to see. Nice views across Kiev as well.
