Eatery serving tapas & updated comfort food, plus wine, craft beer & cocktails in publike environs.
Excellent food and service. Great for lunch and dinner plans. Definitely will be going back again.
This was my first, and WORST experience in the workplace. I was a dishwasher and would constantly be asked to do extra work, with no pay, and when this took longer , (as it should have because I was doing more than I was supposed tomy manager complained and yelled at me about the time it took. Definitely caused me anxiety about any other future job Ill have.
This place is hit or miss. Went on a Saturday evening (walk inand there were only 2 other tables with people. The special was roast beef dinner. My hubby ordered that and when it came to the table the entire plate was swimming in gravey. It looked very unappealing. Meat was so tough and fatty he couldnt eat it and, believe me, he never leaves meat on his plate because I rarely make it at home. Lol We sent it back and they took it off our bill. Only to find out 3 other people complained as well. I also saw 2 French Onion Soups get sent back to the kitchen. I ordered the Bruchetta and it was okay. The bread should have been toasted but wasnt. I also ordered the Mango salad. It was good but should have asked for dressing on the side. We shared the Churrios for dessert and they were very good. The service was AWESOME and I felt sorry for the servers having to run interference for the poor quality food coming from the kitchen. They are going to have to step up there food game if they want to remain open.
For the price it was not as good as we expected. My wife thought they put too much gravy on her roast beef, drowning the whole plate. Nevertheless, the service by the waitress was friendly and quite good.
Wow! What a pleasant surprise for PG! The design and decor is really quite cool. The food servings, huge! Very well presented. I had the Caesar Salad and it has a nice light dressing. Family members had the roast, eggplant parm, bruschetta, and everyone loved their meals. White Sangria is good and worth trying. Our server was Samantha and she was excellent. Highly recommend you try the cheesecake!
The server Alisa was awesome and put us in a primo sat in front of the fireplace for my wifes b-day dinner. The food was absolutely perfect!
My husband and I went yesterday evening for dinner. Everything from the food to the atmosphere was amazing. He had the scallops to start and the lobster stuffed chicken, I had the deep fried pickles and roast beef dinner. Portions of the roast beef were massive, extremely tender, and down right delicious. Many compliments to the chef but I had to take most of it home! Best crème brulee Ive ever had. Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing. Id give this place 10 stars if I could! Thank you so much for making our evening wonderful!!
Restaurant had a really great feel to it. When here for new years eve with friends of ours. Unfortunately my wife got really sick from the scallops she ate.
I took my wife here for a surprise date. She’s celiac, so we needed gluten free options, and the restaurant was able to accommodate us. The food was delicious! The whiskey was perfect! The service was awesome! Overall it was a bit pricey, but we had a great experience
Had a reservation for tonight at 6, we arrived , they sat us and that was it , never saw anyone again . We sat there waiting and waiting , it wasn’t busy, so after waiting for 15, 20 min we got up and left . There were two ladies standing up at the bar and never said a word to us as we walked out .. We went down the street to the Crossroads Restaurant Great service and Amazing food
The menu on their website is not whats offered at the restaurant. For a restaurant that advertises being a tapas place there were very few tapas options. The appetizer we ordered was very good. Entree options were also very limited. Not a good place for picky eaters or vegetarians/vegans. I ordered the schnitzel and it was quite greasy and tough. The potatoes that came with it were advertised as mashed but were more like plain boiled baby potatoes just smashed with a fork. The seasonal vegetables were very undercooked. The service was slow but friendly. Overall I dont recommend going here. Its not as good as it used to be.
Gem of a restaurant- beautiful cellar ambiance, great bartender- Christopher from Greece, who knows the art of conversation, and delicious eggplant parmesan- one of the best I’ve had. And some great old world wines on the list. I will return anytime I’m in Prince George.
Start from the beginning. Decided to favour a local based restaurant over a chain. Menu posted outside includes mention of a striploin steak with "pommes frites", peppercorn sauce and seasonal vegetables. Go inside. Entrance like one of those cheap funhouses from your youth, completely black, no lights. Had to guess which interior door to enter. Scallops were good. Asked waitress why entry was so dark. "Lightbulbs were burnt out". What, no spare lightbulbs in all of Prince George?. Medium rare steak was medium, had maybe a teaspoon of peppercorn sauce (from a bottle?), and sat on a plate of what was basically Hickory Sticks - dried out deep fried matchstick potatoes. Go online for what real pommes frittes are. Waitress even confirmed before ordering that the fries were like McDonalds fries, more commonly called steak frites or moules frites in restaurants that know what they are doing. Chocked on them. Couldnt eat rest of meals because the dry food stuck in my throat. No apologies from the staff. Wish wed eaten at The Keg. It even smelled nicer when we walked past there. Oh yeah, vegetables were vastly undercooked. Basically raw vegetables warmed to room temperature.
First visit to a "real" restaurant since COVID began. Understandably menu is very limited. My wife ordered soup & salad, I ordered Jaeger Schnitzel. Ordered a nice bottle of BC Riesling, $10 off on Wednesdays. The bowl of soup was tasty and generous, the salad fresh. The Schnitzel was a bit greasy and gristly, mushroom sauce nice, vegetables good but sparse. Menu listed mashed potato, meal came with large chunks of tasteless boiled potato. I mentioned this to the waitress but received neither explanation nor apology. Pre COVID this was our favorite restaurant, but I doubt well be back.
So I go there for my birthday with 8 people lil late I call they dont tell you theyre out of everything ..arrive they have a decent wine list I give the server $1000... bottles are 200 each we have dinner 2 bottles she double charges ...in the end I will never go back ...the owner was lucky he wasnt there but I believe word of mouth will suffice..sad really...
One of the best meals Ive ever had, highly recommend! Took my lady there for our one year anniversary
We always pick twisted cork when we get a chance to escape from our kids. We went tonight for my bday because their lamb is my favorite meal in P.G. Even though their website says lamb is on the menu, they dont have lamb anymore. My husband had a steak, ordered it medium rare, when it came there was a tiny itty bitty streak of light pink. When we told the staff that it was most definitely overcooked they told us that is how they cook medium rare steak. If you are looking for a properly cooked steak, dont head to the twisted cork. If youre looking for the most delicious lamb, dont go to the twisted cork😔
A fantastic place in PG. Great food, great service!!! If I am ever back in PG, I will definitely be back here.
Ordered the lasagna bolognese during their Italian week. For the price I was very disappointed in what was delivered. Lasagna was a gluey brick of noodles and meat, very little to no sauce. Asked twice for a second cup of coffee and was told they were brewing fresh pot, never did get second cup. For the price of entrees one would think the service would match.
I heard great things about this place and i was excited to go. Its a beautiful restaraunt inside and out, and the atmosphere makes you hungry and thirsty just being there. The menu looks promising and sort of semi delivers. Had the rack of lamb the first time, and it was good but was just swimming in sauce. The second time i had the ribs, and my date had some stuffed pork chop. It was good as well. Id give this place maybe a 3 or a 4, but the service was absolutely terrible. The first time the server was so clueless, and she said she was new, but we suspected we were the first table shed ever waited in her life. The second time the server was so timid she would tip toe up to the table, deliver silently and scurried off as fast as she could it was so weird! Id come back, but please guys - Hire better servers!
Great atmosphere. Food is terrific, although the menu is small so check first if youre a picky eater. Definitely an awesome place for a special occasion.
Food was not bad, however the service was awful. No one checked on us even once and it wasnt even busy.
Just great. A little island of great gourmet food in Northern BC. I had the Bison tenderloin and it was cooked perfectly. Clients had steak and they really enjoyed it. Great wine selection with fab service. Ill be back for client dinners at the next opportunity. Reasonably quiet which is great for business discussions.

Excellent food although at the price, I do believe more than 3 vegetables for my meal is not enough. Food taste was very good. Overall, a pleasant experience
The atmosphere was amazing here. And my girlfriend went as we are doing a monthly girls dinner out to different restaurants in town to get a taste of PG... This will definitely be a repeat stop on our list. I had the duck which was so amazing and my girlfriend had the pheasant... Also a hit...The service was amazing and they were very knowledgeable about their menu and were spot on when we asked about choices for dinner .. thank you so much Twisted Cork for an amazing experience... Well be back...😉
Just average. I am well versed in good food and restaurants after living in Vancouver for 13 years. Had the veggie phyllo pockets....they had very little flavor and the pastry was a bit much and everything was just dry. Not worth the price. The staff was a bit aloof, not overly friendly or helpful. Wont be going back. Not too impressed after spending 100$ for two on meals and an appy. Sub par but good if you are raised in small towns and used to low quality food.
Upon entering we found the place appealing, however there was a mix up with my moms order, she ordered the fish and got a steak. I ordered the steak and it came cold. I asked for a remake and the second place the steak was still cold and under done. The lobster was frozen and the steak was definitely not top quality for the price we paid. At just under $40/plate my expectations are very high for the quality of food. Wont be returning.
Quaint bar with pretty good beer and wine list. Stopped here for lunch, and it was very quiet and homey. The fish and chips with dijon tarter was excellent. The chicken pesto sandwich was also great. The aesthetic of the bar is very nice, and feels like a small corner bar in a small town. Twisted Cork is a great place to take a break from traveling and grab dinner
Went in on a Saturday night with no reservation and got in (barely). Even though they were packed the service was A+.Ordered tapas: the prosciutto wrapped asparagus, tuna tataki, prawn and scallop skewers and duck spring rolls. LOVED the tuna especially, but would pass on the duck spring rolls in the future.Looking forward to making this a regular dinner spot when staying in town.
My husband and I went in there for lunch today & were seated right away. Our server seemed friendly. When she brought us waters, she poured it in a way that caused it to splash on the table & did not make an effort to clean it up. Then left & came back a few minutes later & took our order. We ordered a soup & sandwich platter. We waited 45 minutes for our order & decided we were not willing to wait any longer & decided to leave. When we got up to leave, we spotted our server & a gentleman with glasses playing catch with what looked like a lemon behind the bar. Someone’s order was sitting in the window, did not look like either soup or sandwiches, while the staff played catch. It was not busy in the restaurant as there was only 2 other tables with guests at the time we were there. We were annoyed by how long we sat waiting. Our server never came back to see if we would like more water or to let us know how long for our order to arrive. Not worth the wait for the amound of time wasted here.
My all time favourite burger comes out of Twisted Cork - the Wild Game Burger. The patties are bison with wild boar bacon, a great sauce and fresh bun. It is expensive but you are getting what you pay for. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great but when it is quiet with few other patrons the wait staff can feel a little awkward. Go on a Friday or Saturday night and you wont be let down. Drinks at their sister pub, the Black Clover with live music, is right next door if you want to extend the fun of your night in a lively Irish setting.
The Twisted Cork was amazing! Our server was very kind and helpful. There were 4 of us each ordering something different and consistently each dish was great. The drinks were delightful as well.
My friend & i disliked our experience to put it nicely.Ordered the meat variety board for a starter, which was nice, nothing special. Then when we were clearly done, (plates pushed to the side of the table with the appetizerour waitress came to our table and asked if we were ready for our entrees as the kitchen wants to know. So we said yes, and another 25 minutes goes by, mind you at the time we are the only table seated here in the entire restaurant, finally we get our entrees as we ordered the tenderloin special, and some of our potatoes are not even cooked through all the way as they were still hard. The only upside was that the meat was cooked correctly. Our waitress comes to the table when we are done and she asks if we want it wrapped up to go and if we wanted a dessert menu we said thanks but no thanks, just the bill. It took us to put our coats on and almost walk out of the door before we could get our bill. I would understand if the restaurant was busy, however it wasnt and when your waitress is gossiping with her coworker at the bar rather than serving the customer the bill, well, it speaks for itself. My friend & I will not be going back to the Twisted Cork.
The restaurant has old school decor and a nice atmosphere. Its a classic looking place. The service was a little slow but the food was tasty. The pick 4 menu option was fun and reasonably priced. Well come back next time were in town.
Awesome atmosphere... Feels like youre in an old tavern. Great food. I had the seared scallops appetizer and that was really special. Perfectly cooked, and served with this saffron cream that had such a unique flavor. My entree was good, but the Appy is what really stood out.
Went here awhile ago with my boy friend for a date, they were almost closing but let us come in for some wine and the best scallops I think ive ever eaten! Staff made us feel right at home, if I lived in Prince George I would be a regular. Would highly recommend
Called to make reservations to make sure my date and I would have a place to eat dinner. They said we could come in an hour. We arrived early and the restaurant was half empty and the other half seemed to have just sat down as well. My partner and I were excited about the cheese fondue to later be told they were out. We got calamari instead and it was nothing amazing. Very bland and the tzatziki was runny. The main course was amazing but the sides again were bland and not cooked properly. Ribs 5/5 and the burger was spectacular 5/5 with great fries and onion rings love the opportunity to have both sides.
For a more upscale place than what is available to me at my home town, I was quite displeased with the quality and flavour of the food. It took a while to get us seated, which is understandable, they seemed a little understaffed for the evening (Sunday). The server never checked in on us while we were consuming the appetizers and the plates only got cleared when our meals came. She didnt do a quality check after the entrees were dropped off until nearing the end of the meal - Because of lack of presence - our drinks also remained empty. She was chipper and pleasant to speak to. The friends that I came with had a better experience with the food than I. I ordered the Snapper which was $24. I ended up with uber soggy potstickers underneath the fish, and overcooked prawns. The concept behind the dish had gotten me excited, so maybe I expected more out of it. The mush turned me off a little though. The sauce and the fish had all the flavour. The remaining contents of the meal were sub-par.
We went for dinner last and were very disappointed with the food, and service. Our scallops appetizers were off, smelled fishy, sauces were good but the scallops were overcooked (a theme for all our meals, and served cool (must have been sitting on the counter for awhile. Our meal were all overcooked, (I wasnt asked how I would like my rack of lamb cooked). and they were not hot when brought to the table. Steak was not tender, halibut was overcooked. We were told that it was too late to order dessert at 9 pm (???). After complaining they did agree to bring us dessert. On the whole, the server didnt know what was going on in the kitchen, it took 45 minutes to receive dinner after we got our appetizers. I did email the restaurant first to give them my feedback but no response. SAVE YOUR DOLLARS and go to another restaurant.
Nice restaurant with a classy atmosphere and a good menu with a lot of options. I am giving 4 stars because I had the cheese fondue for an appetizer and the cheese was cold and the bread was extremely stale, and even after I tried it the taste was quite unpleasant. I enjoyed my entree.
Twisted cork has an excellent weekday lunch menu! Never disappointed. our company has done several Christmas partys here as well. the prime rib is the best in town, the banquet room is spacious and always well decorated/well kept. I would highly recommend both the restaurant and the banquet hall.
Nice vibe (not too loud or brightand good food. I was there for a little company banquet; the service was good and thesmallish banquet room was well set up for the large number of people so it didnt feel cramped. Theres a good variety of drinks available for you if you still dont like the place after all that.
Our lunch was very good crab cakes and halibut and service was great ...highly recommend
We love the twisted cork. Always great food and amazing service. We continue to choose the twisted cork for our date night and when we have company visiting from out of town.Always make a reservation as the locals know its the best in town!Prime rib is always delicious. We recommend the sage derby cheese and maple cheddar for the tapas board.
The service here was excellent! Really enjoyed chatting with the bartender and she had great advice of places to check out here in Prince George. She also made a fantastic white sangria and a delicious maple old fashioned! We had crab cakes and they werent very flakey but we are looking forward to trying more of the menu soon!
Stopped here for lunch and loved the food and service! Also very nice interior, exterior and all in all great experience! Had the pick 4 for lunch which was plenty to eat and a good deal.
The Twisted Cork is a wonderful restaurant that is quiet, with exceptional food. They have an excellent list of appetizers, including the deep fried pickles, which are a must have.If cheese is more your style, try the cheese platter. The main entrees are wonderful and they range from salads, to a very good selection of beef.Great liquor menu and very good service.Great place for an anniversary dinner!
Loved this place! I had the White Wine Sangria with my entrée of the Phyllo Bundle and topped off the meal with the Double Chocolate Budino. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxed. The dessert was quite rich so I probably wouldve been satisfied with a smaller portion (it was pre-made, so only one size), but overall I was pleased with the quality and quantity of the food.
This was my first time going to the twisted cork and I was extremely happy with the entire experience. The staff was friendly and always checking in without being invasive. The bartender especially was fantastic. We were sitting at the bar so he would pop by just to be friendly and was extremely nice and pleasant to all of us. The food itself was brilliant. All of us were more than pleased with the meals well worth the price. Which admittedly I originally I though a touch high. But quickly changed my mind at the quality of meal. Between all this and the wonderful atmosphere it made me want to thank those working there for the experience. Thank you all of you. Cant wait to try it again.Cheers
