The Tommyfield - in Mallawi, Egypt
Great sunday roast - the grave and quality of the meat is sublime.
🚇 Kennington🍺 £5.40 Amstel❤️ A traditional Kennington pub complete with bedrooms and comedy club..The Tommyfield is located on a busy intersection on Kennington Lane and Kennington Road and is just a five minute walk from Kennington Tube station..At first glance at ground floor level, this pub looks contemporary in appearance but once you look up you can see how majestic the architecture is. If you look to the very top of the building you can see the pub’s original name, The White Hart. This pub is named after a nineteenth century market which was the home to Britain’s first fish and chip shop..The decor here is simple but stylish. There are a few raised areas and a good size bar. There are lots of comfy sofas and chairs which make for a comfortable pub experience..The beer choice is straightforward and full of familiar favourites. I had a pint of Amstel which was reasonably priced but was a bit flat. The lady who served was very nice and gave a warm welcome. The food menu is full of British classics with a good selection of hearty pies. For pub comparison purposes fish and chips costs £15 here, which is average London pub price..I visited around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and the pub was quiet. Apart from myself, there was a couple having a chat in one of the window seats and some guests checking in to stay at the six bedroomed hotel upstairs. This Kennington pub also hosts comedy nights by @alwaysbecomedy which showcases the best comedic talent around. Recent performers include Jack Whitehall, Joel Dommett and James Acaster..There are lots of positives here at this multifaceted pub. The beer and food are reasonably priced and the comfortable surroundings make this pub a nice place to have a pint..ℹ️ Information correct on visiting 24/09/22
I had a great steak, it was cooked exactly as I wanted. The stuff was friendly and helpful.
Love this place, always good service, tasty menu, great portions, lovely beers and dog friendly!
Quaint pub with great prices, friendly service and mostly importantly tasty homemade food. The fish cake special and the trout tartare there was to die for.For dessert I’d recommend the banoffee pie.Shout out to my lovely servers Maya, Hector and Chapi.Bonus points for the fab music playlist too.
Excellent steak and chips here and the waitress provided very good service. Recommend!
Good pub with varied food selection and top top comedy. Definitely one to try!
Just finishing up a 4 night stay at the Tommyfield, and its been a great experience. Staff are lovely, the food and drink discount in the pub restaurant when you stay is handy (and the food is good! The room is cosy and has everything you need, and is cleaned and tidied daily. The Kennington Underground is about a 5 min walk away, so the whole of London is not far away. A perfect place for an affordable stay in London.
Great food, great service, good prices
The rudest most awful service I’ve ever received. I live near nearby and was excited to come here but the bartender swore at me when I tried to order a cocktail that he just made the previous person
This place has such a great Sunday roast! We’d been staying in Kennington and passed this place a few times as we thought it seemed quiet but talk about how wrong we were! We decided to try it out and we had the best time! We ordered the Roast Beef and the Roast Pork with all the trimmings and it was absolutely delicious! Could not fault the food at all!The staff were also so genuinely helpful and friendly which we all found so refreshing.Even though they appeared to be short staffed they all still served us with a smile!Would definitely come back and we obviously recommend the roast!!
Incredible high caliber comedy, at a small cost.
Great food and service - lovely Sunday roast
Nice lunch visit. Buttermilk chicken burger was delicious.
Really delicious home made steak and ale pie with good quality chips and lovely service
Very noisy at night as its on a main busy road. Poor lightening in both the room and the bathroom.Small room, large bathroom. Shower water pressure was low, but overall bathroom was really good.Bed super comfortable, AC available in the room and complimentary coffee.Too expensive for what it offers.
Absolutely love staff, delicious food and really cool hotel rooms. Highly recommend 😍
Absolutely lovely place with a beautiful ambience. Good choice of food and drinks as well. 👍👍
Disclaimer: I’m an American and not use to English foods. That being said, the meat pie was nothing short of AMAZING. The gravy with the meat pie was so darn good I’d put it on EVERYTHING I’d eat if I could.
What an amazing experience…love the meat pie. The gravy was amazing. Very friendly and speedy service.
Stayed here for our first visit to London and couldnt have enjoyed it more. Tried my first G&T and Pimms and loved both, staff was absolutely fantastic and couldnt find anything wrong with any meal we had there. If I have any, relatively minor complaints, rooms are excellent but the mattress was a little too firm for me and a lift would be handy.Last thing, stayed during a amazing end of September and loved following the progress of the backyard neighbour renovate his back garden, turned out lovely!
Me, my mum and my sister all came here on 23rd June. We were from liverpool just on a trip. We had this lovely female waitress (I couldn’t catch her namewho gave us a great service and also kindly helped us navigate the busses in London. She is an asset and wholeheartedly the best waitress I’ve seen! Would definitely recommend the food too! No faults with the place whatsoever !
Large spacious pub serving food all day and late on a Sunday. Can be quite busy and sometimes service is a little slow but rarely do I walk away disappointed.
Ordinary interior and tasty breakfast, but nothing fancy. Nice service and delicious coffee.
Great location, near to Kennington tube. The room was on the top floor and had air conditioning which was a bonus on a day when it hit 33 degrees!!! The twin beds were very comfortable. It was clean and the bathroom was stylish with a bath and separate shower. Friendly staff. Pub looks good for food but didn’t eat there. Would stay again.
Great pub. Brilliant food - particularly the steaks.
Exceptionally hood meet in the burger, good veg roast too. A bit understaffed with only two people to attend the room
If you sell a Wednesday evening as “steak and wine” night, then fill it with a wedding party who’ve been drinking all day, don’t expect the steak and wine crowd to come back. Great food spoiled by shouty drunken people. Would rather do pizza express where you can hear yourself think.
We went for the comedy show. Great price for value. Have in mind that some of the artist test work in progress shows. Be kind. We had a great time.I can recommend the food as well! We got sirloin and rib eye both of them really good. Dont forget to grab a beer. They have few of the most popular.
Great value for money, not a regular hotel, it’s a pub with 6 bedrooms. The beds are a bit small but otherwise nice decor and a great place to stay for a weekend
Nice pub with good food, reasonably priced. Lovely individual, tastefully done out rooms to stay in: very comfy bed, coffee machine and frother in the room, and even real milk, a very welcome touch. Good value, good place to stay
Upon landing at LHR and getting to our AirBnB close by, we decided to stop by here on recommendation by the house manual. This was a great choice. The steak and ale pie and onion tart were incredible. Beers were served promptly by an extremely friendly server. Would return. Highly recommend.
Amazing food and the staff are very very lovely. They had a chat with me and took care of me when I wasn’t feeling well. Thank you very much for that!
Just went to have a takeaway latte at about 10:20, as soon as I had a sip my tongue burnt; that latte was probably hotter than an Americano since I have never burnt my tongue with them. I told the guy/lady he burnt the latte and he gave me a "what are you talking about" look as if I didnt know what a burnt tongue feels like... He offered to add some cold milk and as a barista my head figuratively exploded as even if colder a burnt latte tastes horrible. As I was about to leave WITHOUT the coffee, The guy changed his mind and accepted to make a new one. Instead of making my coffee he went and served other people, then he made other coffee which I HEARD burning yet again so I realised it was pointless to keep waiting as I would get a second burnt latte anyways, so I left. The whole interaction took about 10 min, unacceptable as there was like 2 people in one of the tables. I would recommend the manager to buy a thermometer, with time the guy will train his ear and will know when to stop the steam
We went to a party in the function room and spent the night in the hotel rooms, so cant comment on the pub experience or food. The function room was great, lovely decor and really helpful having the bar upstairs. The room we stayed in was lovely, loft style decor, good coffee machine, and thought it was really good value for money - for central London. The staff that showed us around were really friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay!
Best pies around! Lovely open space with lots of window seats. Great comedy club upstairs with some big names visiting. Bar service can be a tad slow but won’t stop me returning as a go to for good quality food.
Nice pub! We dropped in for drinks - they have local beer and a nice wine selection. Cosy atmosphere.
Love this place, we come here often. Staff are brilliant, a nice selection of food and drinks including vegan options. I always have a great time here. They also do comedy nights, have rooms to stay in and have a great rentable space for events (which I have used and can highly recommend). definitely recommend.
Nice place but food and drink is overpriced. I only went for the comedy night upstairs so wouldnt go back to this pub of there wasnt a gig on. Better pubs just over the road
We went for a work function. On a roast dinner there was just two roast potatoes and one carrot, three Brussels which was a bit stingy. We paid a deposit and notified of changes still spending way above the minimum amount but they insisted on money grabbing the deposit and also the lady dealing with it was quite abrupt with my manager in dealing with it and seemed rude to her. We where also told service charge that is called optional was not optional despite it saying... Optional.Just as a warning on booking with these guys it seems they are out to rip you off.
I work opposite and think this is a great pub but when you’re served a tainted pint (which you take back to the barand are then told the pipes were cleaned earlier (confirming my concerns), you don’t need a barman saying they tasted the beer and can’t taste anything wrong. Good customer service is about dealing with mistakes well when they happen, just apologise, serve me a fresh pint and keep the options to yourself please. I don’t appreciate spending £20 and having a soapy taste in my mouth that I still can’t get rid of some hours later…
A great little find. A cosy atmosphere and fantastic simple food done really well. Water put on your table immediately on sitting, without having to ask. 12.5% service charge automatically added to bill, not my personal preference.
Would give more than 5 stars if I could. Couldnt find one fault service was amazing from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. As for the food it was hot, full of flavour and cooked to perfection.Definitely will be going back.
Classy surroundings. Lots of varied seating. Attentive staff. Decent beer choices and the full English breakfast was tasty, piping hot and well presented.
Lovely small pub hotel with a great landlady and more than you would expect from a budget hotel. Fresh fruit and milk in the fridge with porridge and juice for breakfast. Hairdryer and a coffee machine Close to all sights in central London. I would highly recommend the Tommy field pub hotel
Great little pub, fantastic staff and service. The menu has a gastro pub feel and the food is exceptional. No matter how full he is, my husband always has space for the Banoffee Pie - he says it’s the perfect balance of sweetness :)
Visited on a weekday lunch time. Good selection of food and drink. Good surroundings. Food and drinks were nice. Only gripe was that the waiter brought the bill when we wanted more drinks. A second pint would have been welcome.
I have come to this pub a lot over the past 6 years, always yummy food and nice staff. We went last night for the pub quiz which was really fun. Unfortunately we were shocked when the bill came. Post covid the main difference is the price of drinks - over 17 quid for a double gin and tonic, and over 12 quid for a double rum and coke! over 7 quid for a single and mixer! extortionate! Unfortunately at those prices its too much to go back unless prices go back to normal. Or maybe just stick to water. If youd had 2 double g&ts that could cost over 30 quid!
The pub and restaurant was so lovely! This includes a sweet and friendly server which really made it so cozy. The place itself looks nice on the inside and outside, unfortunately like most places we got a table which wiggled. They only gave us one menu but we were two people, and from looking around they had done that at other tables too. Which is a bit annoying.Food none the less was tasty, and they also change menu depending on the season which I really good!
Stayed here for a night so chose to eat here too as they give 50% off for guests (and 50% off to all during January anyway!). Had a great stay and also a great meal. All the staff were exceptionally lovely, attentive and friendly and the landlady was mucking in and was engaging and attentive. Great vibe, good food and drink choices and the fish and chips were sublime. Brilliant all round. Hope to come back one day and go to one of their events such as the comedy nights.
