The Thai Grocer in Earlsfield
Description
Privilege
This is a beautiful restaurant turned take away. Food is freshly made. Authentic Thai food and great service. When i move I will miss having this place on my doorstep
MorePopped in for some Thai ingredients and could not have received better service. The owner is amazing. Super helpful and knowledgeable. He gave loads of recommendations and tips and even demonstrated how to make gyoza! What a culinary adventure. Will definitely shop here again.
MoreBest Thai food outside of Thailand, incredibly fresh ingredients and lovely owners. Couldnt recommend enough
MoreBest thai food I had in London, usually just a let down compares to thailand but this was soooo tasty, and I bought some ingredients to make my own. Also liked the guy who served me he was cool. Highly recommend x
MoreAmazing food! Ordered jungle curry cod - everything was perfect. Loved that it was as hot and spicy as I hoped it would be (very :). Thank you.
MoreThis is our go to Thai, the food is delicious and the service is always great! Also when the restaurants open its BYOB which is a nice selling point!
MoreAmazing Thai restaurant that serves delicious authentic dishes, as well as home sauces and ingredients you can buy from their pantry. Flavours in abundance - we feel lucky to have this place on our doorstep.
MoreDefinately well worth a visit!Amazing food at very reasonable prices!Great for small intimate groups! The host could nt do enough for us!Get your BYO from the friendly Mayo man Mr O Malleys Off Licence next door! Will definitely be back next time Im over in London to visit our daughter Emma and son James .
MoreIt was very good, i had a lovely time there.
Lovely little Thai restaurant with great food. The owner was very informative and really made us feel welcome. We found out that he sources pastes and sauces from Thailand and sells them to supermarkets. We ended up buying some and using them to cook Thai dishes at home. Can honestly say that everything so far has tasted great. Will definitely be coming back to this gem.
MoreExtensive menu, reasonable prices, delicious food, friendly owner. Couldnt fault it. Will be back.
MoreStaff are incredibly friendly and the food is absolutely gorgeous too and as its bring your own bottle you cant go wrong. Highly recommend!
MoreAmazing local Thai restaurant. The food is delicious. I recommend booking as the place is very popular
MoreGorgeous good and friendly service as always. My favourite Thai restaurant 😍
Outstanding and Highly recommended. One of the best places to have Thai food. Pad Thai is simply amazing. Great service.
MoreThe restaurant itself is small - 6 tables neatly placed amongst all the thai food supplies they sell - noodles, rice, paste and fresh goods. When we sat down the owner kindly informed us they were bring your own and told us about the off license a couple of doors down. He brought a bottle opener and some glasses for the beers we inevitably purchased!
MoreGreat food - it maybe slightly more expensive than other Thai restaurants but worth it!
MoreGood restaurant to have your dinner on your way back home when you dont feel like cooking, but I would go elsewhere in London if I want to relish a truly authentic Thai cuisine.
MoreMixed feelings about The Thai Grocer. The food is often nice but the older gentleman owner is unbearable, rude and opinionated. Unfortunately I stopped dining here a while back after growing tired of his regular behaviour in and around the establishment
MoreOut of all the local Thai restaurants this surprised me. Recommend and slightly pricey I expected so much more. From the strange welcome of the cockney chap, explaining that you cant order dishes to share just set meals all with rice to the explanation that the concept of ordering multiple dishes to share between you is an abstract one which only the rare few ever order, left me a little perturbed. In short, if you want to have a nice sociable meal where you can share dishes and make your own choice in whether you want rice, try the Green Curry down the road or Amaranth nearer the station. Much nicer and far better service and hospitality in general.
MoreCan’t speak highly enough of the quality of Thai food you get here. Every dish tastes fresh and full of flavour - having sampled nearly half the menu now I can’t believe I haven’t found a dish that disappoints! Highly recommend as one of the best Asian food restaurants in SW London. And you get a great deal on the price too. Good quality, reasonably priced, what more could you want.
MoreWe lived a couple streets over from this little gem. It became a staple for both our date nights out and takeaways at home. Extremely clean place as well, you can tell that it is run with exceptional pride and care.
MoreThis is the best Thai food we have ever eaten. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and looked after throughout our evening. The service was quick but not imposing. The food was absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend this Thai restaurant.
MoreDelicious Thai food in a cute family run style restaurant, nothing fancy but the food makes you smile and its BYO! We had: Thai green curry, massaman curry and Thai basil stir fry. Recommend!
MoreVery disappointing. We went after reading all the good reviews but it was possibly the worst Thai food we had in London in recent years. Service nonattentive at all, noone welcomed us, sat us down or paid any attention to us for the first 10 mins. We ordered main first, after I wanted to order starter I was told that table is booked soon suggesting that I may not have enough time for starter. Ordered it anyway and although in the menu is written that dim sums are made in the house - they didnt taste like it all. They were without any flavour and meet was very poor quality. Laksa was without much of the flavour too, but way too much chillii in it as if someone tried to boost the lack of flavour but spicing it up. Pad Thai flavourless too, noodles not cooked long enough, believe the owners had a big table booked for the birthday party and paid all attention to them not caring about the rest of us. Definitely will not be coming back.
MoreVery bad experience. The quality of the food was very disappointing. The Dim Sum were like frozen food from a cheap supermarket. You could taste the processed food used in those Dim Sum. As a main I ordered a Pad Thai, it came in a nice presentation but the Noodles were very hard. It wasnt tasty at all. In addition, the person who was attending got upset because we ordered a started and said: better eat it quick because the table is booked for later. Horrible food and service.
MoreBest thai food in London. Super fresh. Very friendly owner. Amazing value!
Consistently the best Thai food I have had in London. Reasonable prices and excellent cooking. We get takeaway regularly.
MoreThe best Thai Ive had in London. Freshly prepared with beautiful ingredients. Bring your own bottle is a bonus too! The red duck curry is a must have.
MoreConsistently amazing. The best Thai food in London. An enjoyable and friendly eat in experience and the takeaway tastes just as good as eating in.
MoreComprehensive Lunch Deal, highly recommend masamam curry
The best, freshest and tastiest Thai food I have eaten in a very long time. The service was very good, the food even better In a very low key and cosy setting. Would recommend.
MoreTheir lunch menu is great, the selection for the price is amazing. You must try the jungle curry, its got quite a kick!
MoreHorrible service. My pregnant wife got there 15mins before me and never came to the table or offered a drink or anything. I arrived, still no table service!! So we left and said why we left to the owner, and didnt say anything but "ok then". Wouldnt recommend it at all.
MoreWe ve been here a few times and always found it fantastic. Food is freshly cooked so you may have to wait a bit but deffinatly worth waiting for
MoreThe food is excellent, some of the best Thai food you will eat. The family that run the Thai grocer are friendly, professional and very helpful, they always make you feel welcome. The food is always cooked with fresh ingredients and is consistent. They even have a little shop inside where you can buy ingredients to make your own Thai food.I have taken friends, family, wives, girlfriends and work colleagues here and they have all loved it. A hidden gem.
MoreThai green curry with a flavour of Thailand, well balanced flavours and attentive staff. One should be early around lunchtime as its filling up fast.
MoreEvery single thing on the menu, and some secret ones, are absolutely delicious. I have my favourite but there simply is no wrong choice. Gets busy so always book in advance. Prices are very reasonable too, especially for the quality you get.
MoreA neighbourhood Thai restaurant of the highest quality. All ingredients are fresh and the recipes are authentic and expertly cooked. I regularly pick up takeaway from here, which is always just cooked and piping hot. Ive also eaten in the BYO restaurant, which is small and always full with happy customers. The prices are good value and the guy that runs the place is professional and friendly. I honestly cannot fault this place.
MoreBest Thai for miles. Friendly owner, great fresh food which is incomparably better than other Thai options in the option. Ignore the review from Sumit Gupta suggesting dont come if you arent white. We were there that night and the Owner was friendly and accommodating as usual; to suggest they are racist is disgusting and wrong. Our friends (white and non whitehave all had great experiences here. I can only assume that Samit has a chip on his shoulder about something and automatically thinks a pregnant customer demands priority over other customers. I doubt the owner will worry too much if customers like that, who order very little indeed during the evening (even we noted this!!and who think they deserve special attention, never return to the restaurant. I for one will keep coming back time and time again. Cant recommend it enough
MoreDont bother going to this place if your skin is not white. Otherwise, all of these things may happen with you:1. You may get overcharged, by up to 1£ more per dish than the price on the menu. (We were overcharged on everything we ordered)2. You may have to wait for 15 minutes to get a glass of water, and you will still NOT get it. (After we asked for water, the owner cleaned two tables, took two orders from different tables, spent some time on his computer, got our bill, but still not the water)3. The behaviour will remind you of the movies from raj era. Only thing missing is the sign - Indians and dogs not allowed!I was there with my very visibly pregnant wife. The least youd expect in a restaurant is that they will get a glass of water when asked for. After such an experience, the least I can do it warn all other people about the place and help them save unnecessary humiliation.
MoreAmazing food and you can buy quality ingredients for thai food too. All the curry pastes are made by the owners family and they are the best curry pastes I have found!
MoreBest thai in the area (and further!Very fresh produce and super tasty. Nice lunch deal too. We love it
MoreCosy environment and really great food from a fairly extensive menu including starters, street food, noodles and curries. Also BYOB makes it great value, book to avoid disappointment.
MoreBest Thai Ive had...one of those ones that you want to tell everyone about because it is so good, but also keep a secret for yourself. The hampers also make great and slightly different presents.
MoreHave been here a few times to sit-in and take-away. The guys working here clearly care about what they are doing, and it tells in the quality of the food they dish up. Its a lot better than Amaranth down the road, which we used to go to before discovering this place. Its usually super-quiet but this only makes for a quicker turnaround time with the take-away! The Panang curry is my favourite.
MoreA great Thai restaurant with some lovely art on the walls. Well worth a visit for the friendly atmosphere and exceptional food. Bring your own wine, from the off licence a few doors down, and some friends for a chilled evening.
MoreThis tiny Thai restaurant is hard to find but worth the search. Come for an authentic Thai meal with a range of Thai grocery items available to take home. This restaurant is also BYOB so good for the wallet too!
MoreThis family owned gem is without doubt one of the nicest thai experiences in south west London for the price, with husband and wife team coming up with classics and specials that tickle the taste buds.
MoreBeen impressed every time weve been there, just had the Massaman curry with lovely slow-cooked beef and real authentic depth of flavour
