Maybe its because this branch is in House of Fraser and was closing today...Im not sure...but it was awful. We only ordered an afternoon tea and it was pitiful, like they were scraping together stuff to put on a plate. A complete waste of £50. There are much nicer places for afternoon tea at this price point.

The woman at the door didn’t make my friends and I feel welcome at all. She half heartedly told us to come back for a table in 10 mins. We came back after 15 mins and we visibly saw her hide from us and tell another waitress to come to us.

Quite disappointed as it didn’t meet my expectations, customer service was very timid and we waited almost 50 mins for a salad. Looks elegant to take pictures but that’s about it.

Very pink but surprisingly not girly. A great place to grab some afternoon tea, fairly large vegan selection (not cheap). The service is a bit slow but very friendly, would recommend to go to if you are in the area, doesnt have a massive seating area so you may need to book ahead of time.

Very sad to leave this type of feed-back,but what horrible service and the fact that I’m American I feel like I was treated less than an English customer. After waiting over 10 minutes to place an order in a not even half full tea room. They had the nerve to serve 3 other tables that arrived and ordered after us , I sais something to our waitress and she just told me "Hey I’m not the one making the drinks. The place is classy but not the service

Vegan/nut free safe :)We had originally booked elsewhere but were terribly let down at the last minute. We booked this only 30 minutes ahead of time with no problems.I have a nut allergy, and am a vegan, and called ahead to check they could accommodate. The server on the phone was so kind and patient, and went through the whole menu with me.The venue is beautiful, and the staff were so accommodating. The vegan/nut free afternoon tea was well priced and delicious. 4 sandwiches, 2 scones and a giant slab of cake, as well as a pot of tea. My friend had the traditional afternoon tea, which was also delicious and well priced.A great afternoon!

We found this place on Google and despite the fact of low rate we gave it a try. So, in the nutshell we had amazing afternoon tea. I am not big drinker of tea but we had everything served fast and on time, tea, scones and cakes were delicious as well. Traditional afternoon tea for 2 will be 44.95£; tea cream will cost you 16.75£ for 2 (it has only scones). Staff was helpful! Enjoy this place.

I had afternoon tea in the carriage with my husband, sister, and 5-year-old niece - we all loved it! The food was good and the staff were very friendly. You need to book in advance for the princess carriage and there is an extra charge of £12 per person, but then the afternoon tea is £22 per person so it’s not too expensive as far as afternoon tea goes - and having it in a carriage creates lasting memories!

04/01/20Prices = expensiveQuality of food ordered = not goodWould I return or recommend = noFamily had booked one of the carriage tables.Price to book is ridiculous for the "experience"Menu is limited. Food was like frozen home cooking standard.Had the fish & chips. I can personally produce a better meal. There was hardly any actual cod and it was a bit stringy. Will not go again. Didnt bring it up with management as didnt want to cause a scene in front of nieces as it was the eldests birthday.

Nice decor but a bit too sweet to my taste but a pleasant resting place in oxford street after walking around for a while. The service was fine but slow. We ordered jacket potato and it was ok but not more than that. Nothing special although the place is quite pricey. On the other hand we got free tap water served.

I had lunch here and ordered the simple penne pasta with tomato sauce; it was a struggle. When eating the pasta, the taste was ok, but as I would take each bite, the temperature of the pasta would range from burning hot to lukewarm. In the end I gave up. My meal cost about £16 and included a bread roll, a coke and the 11% gratuity. My takeaway was that lunch may not have been the smartest choice in a place that was more dedicated to tea and cake options.

Fitted us in without a reservation but the service was very poor. We couldnt get the waitress attention so had to go up to the desk when we wanted to order something or wanted the bill . However, as soon as we were finished, the staff couldnt get us out of there fast enough and waited by the table with their cleaning spray while we put on our coats. Wasnt the nicest experience considering we were there for a friends birthday.

This wasnt anything to write home about. The decorations and setting were very cute but very limited cakes. And we each ordered a pot but definitely could have ordered just one. But they didnt suggest that. And no options of vegan or gluten free so tea only for me.

Service slow, inefficient, forgot items, understaff, and food a disgrace chips were fried on old oil and it’s came mushy and with with a horrible taste, staff never check on the quality of the food and when she came to clear the table she saw my place did not asked anything, did not give a dame!Afternoon tea is ok, but a place for your lunch... go anywhere else McDonalds, Subway, or buy a bag of crisps and you will be happier!I really do not recommend this place!

Staff is very friendly and efficient. They get 5 starts from me.However the brand itself is not what I expected. £3,95 for a tea which then comes to £4,30 with the service charge and it’s not even loose leaf. It’s a teabag.Maybe still leads in the teabag but still was expecting those teapots where they would add a teaspoon of loose leafs. The space is cute and very instagramable for sure. I think the prices for what they serve needs a bit of an evaluation.

An absolute delight in all aspects. The girls were attentive, very friendly and helpful. The Afternoon Tea was fresh and delicious with an excellent choice of sandwiches, scones (apple and cinnamon to die for!)and varied flavours of tea. The decor was sublime...so pretty and appealing. Reduced two middle aged ladies into young girls with the excitement of it all! I have shared our experience on Facebook and raised quite about of interest. Thank-you to the staff for adding to the birthday afternoon with your friendliness. Oh and for London it was very inexpensive too.. Delighted to recommend.

Fun place and friendly staff makes this a great destination for Afternoon Tea, or just a coffee break! Their scones were easily the best Ive ever had, and their different flavours of scones made it all more exciting. Really good chai tea as well, just an all round great experience.

This was the first time, and will be the last of course. Although, staff were friendly but weren’t attentive and service was quite slow and I felt that the place should be managed better, waiters were quite lost between the orders, although it wasn’t crowded. In regard to my order,, tea was served almost 10 minutes before the scone arrived. I guess afternoon tea set should be all served at once!

I took my mother here for a lovely high tea experience. I was very embarrassed and sad when after half an hour sitting and waiting we still did not get our tea. I asked the waitress where our tea and cakes etc where and she said that we already received them. I told her we did not get anything and we had been waiting for half an hour. I got little apology. When I then spoke to the manager he was no help and wasnt very friendly. Not much of an apology and I was told that the scones are frozen...not fresh!!! Not good!

I went here with my boyfriend during a recent visit to London and after seeing multiple great reviews and a lovely menu, we were left rather disappointed. After being seated for over 15 minutes, someone eventually came to take our order however, the waitress was rather rude. We assumed that our drinks would come whilst we were waiting for our afternoon tea but we ended up waiting over 40 minutes for a coke and a water which came out with the rest of the afternoon tea arrangement. A waitress did come over and ask if we had been waiting for a while and went to get a manager but nothing came of this. The afternoon tea looked very appealing when it arrived however, the bread was stale, dry and clearly not fresh despite the wait time. We then felt extremely rushed as a staff member came round requesting payment whilst we had not finished our food. To top off the disappointment, a gratuity was added to our bill without our consent and all things considered, we were not willing to pay this.

Visited to try the new ‘selfiechino’ we had seen on social media. Sadly the machine is currently broken so we grabbed a couple of regular hot chocolates while we fed our 1 year old. Whilst mildly annoying, my score has nothing to do with not being able to get what we originally wanted. Things just break sometimes. The reason I gave two stars is mostly down to service. We sat for almost 15 minutes before anyone took our order (after I went to the counter assuming it wasn’t table serviceI also sat waiting to pay the bill for more than 10 minutes, again, I went to the counter. A member of staff very rudely tutted after my 1 year old and wife walked through the tea room (very nicely and not even noisyto go change her nappy whilst I paid. The second star is awarded purely for the decor and the tasty hot chocolate we (eventuallyreceived. The staff however, have prevented me from ever considering visiting again. I only paid the service charge as my daughter did spill a bit of the hot chocolate. I cleared it up but everything was still left slightly messy (soggy napkins and such)

There were lots of very negative comments on this restaurant, so much so that my daughter & I were unsure whether to go. However we did and were really pleasantly surprised, the staff were friendly, the setting was relaxing and fun, just right for the afternoon tea. This was lovely, fresh sandwiches, amazing scones and cake beautiful and so fresh. I think this is a place to go when you have time to enjoy it and probably not a weekend. The service was a little slow but if people want instant food they need to go to McDonalds! Not overpriced and proper food! Overall a lovely experience xx

Very long wait. Poor service. Had to ask for half my order three times whilst my tea was going cold, then again for the milk and again for a knife... Honestly! Not hard to bring out a complete order in one go. Lots of free tables so being busy wasnt the reason.Scones and gingerbread were dry & bland, with a very measly portion of clotted cream. Tea itself was nice, but bag rather than loose leaf. Overall very disappointing to be honest. Pity, as first impressions were good whilst waiting for a table.

This is a great place for getting a quick bite or unplanned afternoon tea. Their selection of desserts is quite tasty! Especially great after a round of exhausting shopping in House of Fraser or Oxford street itself. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 star rating is that they are slow in the service department, though they are very warm and welcoming.

A girly experience!! Quaint tea room straight from the pages of Alice in Wonderland. Decorated in pastel colours with quotes adorning the walls, comfortable, padded seating and some high backed chairs. Fantastic selection of teas, (wonderful looking coffee and cool drinks also available), and wonderful high tea experience. Tasty English sandwiches, Ive had better quality cakes elsewhere, though. Can be extremely busy, so some patience can be required. Well worth the wait so take the time to enjoy the experience.

There were some not so great interactions with the staff (mostly one in particular). The waitress asked for our orders impatiently as though we were taking up all of her time, and she didnt even write them down. My friend asked what kind of fruit was in the fruit scones and her reply was, "normal ones." They forgot to bring out one of the pots of tea that we ordered. By the time we told them and they brought it out, it was already 25 min past when we got all of our other orders.I would not recommend the coffee and walnut cake, its not very good.My friends and I were still glad to find this place. The environment is interesting and fun to be in. The rest of the food was wonderful. The Tea Terrace is a nice place to go for some light fare for a reasonable price. Its easy to find and doesnt require reservations, so its easy to go at a moments notice. Even on a Saturday we only waited maybe 10 min. for a table. In general, the staff did seem attentive and helpful if you wanted to ask them something.

Great decor and both the food and tea were excellent. The service could have been a bit faster though, and we had to wait several minutes before someone came over to seat us, despite the fact it wasnt very busy.
