The Taversoe in Kirkwall

Had an excellent lunch of Smoked Haddock Cullen Skink with a side of Ham and Salad sandwich with great view across the sea. It was well presented and served by very pleasant waitress. Well worth a visit.

A very friendly quaint little pub that serves real ale amongst other beers and meals. With a large bay window looking over the water, there are some beautiful views to be absorbed and possibly the occasional Orca or Dolphin pod

Je ny ai pas résidé mais ceux qui y étaient ont vanté son confort et la vue depuis les chambres. Par contre jai dégusté un excellent repas avec une vue imprenable.On peut y boire un verre dans le pub ou dans le jardin. Le personnel est sympathique et efficace.

Lovely wee hotel. Had Crab Sandwiches and Cullen Skink for lunch. Both excellent. They also had Real Ale available. Friendly staff and good service.

Amazing cold beer after a long walk round the bay. Well worth a visit if you on the island.

Stopped here for lunch. Such a lovely warm welcome and the views are stunning. The food is all freshly prepared, with home made soup. Can highly recommend if youre visiting Rousay.

Worked there many yes ago at the wee school and stayed at the Taversoe .Back then it was a young couple I think they were from Derby .Great place, great food,great crack with the locals. Would highly recommend it .

Excellent lunch. Great fresh soup and superb fish platter.

Amazing two storey chambered cairn. Well worth a visit. Climb down a small ladder and you are inside the main part of the cairn. But also dont miss the smaller cairn behind.

This is an excellent inn to stay at if you visit Rousay. Convenient to the ferry and tourist sites on the island. Very friendly staff. The restaurant is fantastic! Two thumbs up!!

A nice small bar and restaurant, with great views of the sea and mainland Orkney, a good menu (especially pleased to see a vegan optionand a good atmosphere. Very helpful staff and other visitors were relaxed and cheery.

Great food and location recommended by a local fisherman. When mentioning who recommended us an English staff member stated, while smirking, that the local people of Orkney are all related and she cant tell them apart. Rude and racist and wont be back.

Great meal, friendly staff and clientele. If walking from the ferry it feels like a good two miles.

This is an amazing wee hotel. Room was spotless really comfy and had a fab view of the sea from the deck outside my room. Food was very good and staff really friendly and helpful.

Such friendly people, let us in early on a rainy day for a cup of tea. A fabulous view with rabbits and hen with chickens in the courtyard which entertained my children.

A must-visit; properly understand Rousay dynamics

We were there in 2013 with 5 people in our party, which was the capacity of the Taversoe. We all agreed that it was the best accommodation of our 10 days in Scotland. Good food with a full menu, good hospitality and very helpful. If Carey Maguire is still the proprietor, I recommend the Taversoe highly.

The view etc is obviously fantastic, the food is only really cafe like paninis chips etc. Then there is the two female owners, Surly, slightly hostile, cold, unresponsive, miserable. My review is real, I have been there twice now, and I honestly think that these two totally spoil the island of Rousay, I wish they would go.....
