The Tanks - Tourist attraction in Forster, Australia
Good place to take little kids to go and swim
Good spot. Car parks all along so no one ruins the grass and crumbling dirt,Always a great view of the sunrise and sunset. Cute walk too
Beautiful location with great facilities for families
Very special Rick pool.
Great place to visit as part of a walk, shallow water is good to get your feet wet and there are cool rocks and shells around for kids.
Well worth a look, lovely walk great views
Beautiful area nice walk and plenty of seats along the way to just kick back and relax along the way and take in the view 😀
Very cute spot!
Great relaxing place for a walk a BBQ play with kids in the park. You can have a good snorkelling experience or enjoy a nice swim
We went there because my son needed somewhere suitable for a weelchair.
I stayed at Reflections holiday park and followed the walking track along the cliff top. It begins on the other side of the tidal pool at the southern end of the beach. Easy walk and fantastic views. There a few lookouts along the cliff top. You can also park anywhere along the road which runs parallel to the walking track and cliff top. And access the lookout that way
Another Great place to just watch the magnificence of an Angry Ocean.
Nice little hidden place on route from Brisbane to sydney or vice versa
Fun to watch the waves crash over.Great for kids to play in the shallow water
Oh, one of the best views definitely! Just looking at it somehow brings calmness and serenity...If you just want to hang out while overlooking The Tanks, really great place to do so as it can be a conversation starter. Or you can walk, exercise or just have a picnic nearby with friends or family.
wonderful part of the coastline
Unexpected rock formation in one of the most beautiful parts of this world. Our 4 year old with cerebral palsy walked to the bottom and back with the help of handrails supplied
Beautiful swimming and picnicking spot or just walk the entire foreshore ,clean modern toilets and baby change station available
Fantastic scenery, Great place for a picnic, great place for families, great place to swim for kids say 9 and older.Loverly park area with bathrooms a short walk away
A fantastic family swimming spot.At high tide The Tanks are full of water. As the tide falls it reveals the sand underneath the surface. The majority of the swimming area is protected by the incoming swell by the rock formations. The waves crashing over the rocks provide great entertainment for kids when swimming here.
The experience was breathtaking. A gentle breeze, warmth of the sunshine and its reflection on the water was magical. Looking at clear green/blue water, beautiful.
Beautiful place, great views, & swimming
We stopped by here on our way home from smiths lake...planning to comeback in summer and put the paddle boards in here on a calm day...and paddle out around the headland.
The Tanks rockpools are the perfect place to cool off and also explore the magical world of the ocean. Easy access from the car park, stairs that lead down to the sparkling waters and as you can there are rocks to shelter you from the ocean waves. Plenty of sealife and baby crabs around. So keep an eye out!
Great place to take the kids and explore the rock pools, and frolick in the parks
Named The Tanks because of some interesting railway history... Now a beautiful spot to swim and snorkel, climb over the huge boulders and search through thousands of rocks to build pebble pillars, or stand against the rock wall under the waves as they crash over from the open ocean.
Pretty rock formation along the coast to look at. Recommend swimming and snorkelling (w/ kids too!as a quiet alternative to Forster’s other beaches. Easy to access through the stairs and lots of fish as well. Make sure to stay behind the rocks and keep a look out for kids as the bay leads out to sea.
Not overcrowded because of the rocky terrain to access it. Fairly safe for young children as it is protected from the surf.
Very nice place. Although we thought it is possible to snorkel, we couldnt. The water was choppy and the sea was little too rough for our comfort zone. There is a good reserve before you get to the water where you can hangout and play and enjoy the views of the Pacific Ocean.
Perfect spot to have a swim, well protected from the swell. Good for little children but they might need help walking on the rocks at the waters edge.
Have to get it at the right conditions. Was too choppy when we visited for a snorkel, despite not being overly windy. New toilets and picnic tables/ shelter nearby with plenty of beach showers as well.
Unusual geological formation along foreshore. Nice views from headlands from Bennetts Head to Pebbly Beach. Good walking track
A beautiful spot for swimming and snorkeling. Easy entry and exist through the smooth and flat rocks. Very protected from the waves. Lots of fish in kelp gardens. I was also swimming with an eagle ray and a sea tutle. It was an amazing experience.
Rest easy on new undercover picnic table... For at least 6 people. New toilets opening soon
Beautiful spot on our coastline. Walking tracks. Toilet. Childrens playground. Safe swimming spot on little sandy beach behind rock formations.watched the pod of dolphins playing and heading to forster
The best places to relax and unwind in Forster. This place has been my childhood favourite while growing up in Forster/Tuncurry.
Stunning and clean.
The sea view is very pretty, and there is a lot of picnic spots to see it. On the hotter days, you can swim there, and the top rocks shield the waves from smacking you! Though, there is a bit of a spray, but its always fun to get sprayed! There are also rocks that idk if you are meant to climb, but people do it anyways, because its closer to the sea, and there are better photos to take from there!
A beautiful spot in Forster. Easy access for everyone. Plenty of seating to enjoy the view and the peace. For those with appropriate abilities, there are stairs down for a dip in the rockpool. Or you can climb around the rocks. For the less adventurous its a short walk down to Pebbly Beach. There are picnic benches,a childrens playground and its on the walking track down to the main shopping area and the lake.
We love the tanks.A great safe swimming spot for all the family. Its different every visit.
Kids had lots of fun climbing and jumping off the rocks. Some good snorkeling if your into it
Nice little beach, great views.
Easy entry for diving. Plenty of fish, rays and if you are lucky, you can find sharks to swim with.
Great place in summer for a shark free swim
Beautiful place, nice flat area to walk. Good place for a paddle behind the rock wall during calm conditions.
Not far from Bennetts Head Lookout. Got big green ground on the side. No barbecue spots though, which was bit of disappointment for us. Lots of parking available.
Fantastic place for a swim and snorkel, just be careful with young kids around the rocks and letting them out of the sheltered zone.
Excellent location for a spot of sightseeing and great place for the kids with an excellent play area and BBQS
Great swimming hole, but for experienced swimmers only. Be careful barefoot on the slippery and sharp rocks
This was a really nice place to swim. The water was clear and, despite it being a windy day, very calm. I think it was the rock wall that sheltered this section from waves. Be careful when getting in the water as its rocky and uneven underfoot.
