This stylish pub with rooms overlooks the River Thames. It's a 12-minute walk from the Elmsleigh Shopping Centre and 1.9 miles from Runnymede. The 11 chic, colourful rooms are individually styled with antique-style furnishings, each equipped with flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffeemaking equipment. Some rooms have river views, and upgraded rooms feature Victorian-style baths. The casual pub/restaurant offers an eclectic menu of Modern British fare, plus dining by the water. The cosy, buzzy bar serves local ales and has TVs tuned to sports channels.
A very good pub lunch by the river, fish and chips was exceptional, good service, great views
Quaint little hotel with excellent service and a great setting. Pub and restaurant is great and convenient. 15-20 minute ride from Heathrow.
Food was good, beer was good, service was good. Not much else you can ask for from a pub :-)
Whats not to like about this stunning, historic pub in such a picturesque spot on the river...great food and good beer plus a raging fire place in the winter!
In reply to the Managers comment on my 4 stars, rather than 5 stars. The customer service at the point of reservation was excellent. The service at the table and food was very good. The one thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was the (I assumemandatory service charge of 12.5%. I normally always give a tip of about 10% but I prefer the freedom to decide what I want to give. Even if voluntary I do not want to go through the embarrassing process of asking for the service charge to be amended. To be honest, this 12.5% service charge would put me off returning as what would I do if I got poor service? Food and drink in restaurants is now very expensive in relative terms given the current cost of living increases. Add a mandatory service charge like this and it could put people off returning or even going in the first place. Food for thought re getting my 5 stars.
Nice little b&b, tidy and recently refurbished room. Good drink selection and we had a nice dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast was interesting, in a bad way. Bacon was terrible thought I have to say.
Room was beautiful & perfectly clean however a male staff member was seen being rude to other younger staff members and customers was very uncomfortable to watch tension between staff was easily observed
Soooo expensive, shady side of river so always chilly outside. Very average food, but nice enough
The food is excellent and the service is friendly. Beautiful river views and fairly quiet on a Saturday. Highly recommended!
Nice outdoor seating. Can moor boat and eat there. Riverside place.
Pretty pub on the Riverside at Staines. Helpful staff and a lovely location with outside tables on the riverbank. 😊
This hotel is fantastic! The rooms are gorgeous, the food is great, the staff is lovely and it is located right along the river. It is just a short local bus ride from T5 at Heathrow then a walk across the bridge and your there. This is soooo much nicer than staying at one of the airport hotels. My room even has its own balcony overlooking the river. I love this place. Can you tell?
Good range of Fullers real ale (and othersand good food in a great location.
Went here for lunch. Very disappointed. Staff couldnt answer questions regarding allergens. Couldnt careless that a burger tasted sour. Just told the temperature of the fridge was OK. Really not up to usual Fullers standards of customer service.
Popped in after a riverside walk and a refreshing dip in the Thames by our pooch. Nice shaded table on the terrace overlooking the river and a cool breeze helped on this quite hot day. Very good prompt service and quality food offering, delicious steak etc and crispy succulent buttermilk chicken burger. We shall return!PS a bonus, very dog friendly too!
Just stopped off for a quick drink. This hotel pub is a lovely place with good food and a wide selection of beers, whines and spirits. With the good weather we are having, take a seat outside and youll have views of the river Thames.
Disappointing. The rooms are quite nice with nice touches such as a Nespresso machine and Dyson fan but definitely not worth the cost. The restaurant food was average, very slow to arrive and the service was really poor. We were going to order dessert but werent offered dessert menus or coffee. By the time we finally attracted someones attention we decided to just get the bill.
Good selection of beers consumed on the terrace overlooking the Thames on a beautiful sunny day followed by a meal in the restaurant. Have been there several times.
Lunch, nice as always but today service was a little slow and not to its usual standard, no big issue more time to sit and watch life go by on the river.
Have been visiting the Swan many times over many years, the position is perfect and and before Covid the food was excellent, unfortunately the food let’s it down now, very poor, which is a shame.
we got some drinks whilst we were near the water, my mum ordered 5 drinks so very clearly couldn’t carry them all herself so she had to take a tray HERSELF from the side and take them to us, with no help from staff even thought they were clearly not the busiest of times in the pub, there was a blip on the stairs so she fell and dropped our drinks so we went back in to tell and ask for more, nicely a worker came out to clean the glass except she was very very rude to us and brushed past us, then we explained the situation of the clear blip in the stairs and they claimed as it was outside it wasn’t their business, even thought they’ve got signs and outside seating, so this very clearly is still their business ? we then had to pay for twice the amount of drinks even thought their ground clearly needs refurbishing. all in all awful way of treating customers , not to mention they didn’t ask if my mother was okay or even showed a sign of sympathy. the staff needs to be shown that any type of work is good so please be happy about your job because your face doesn’t show it
Ok but would have been nice if they did small meal at night
Generally good pub, disappointed that they couldnt provide extra flatbread with our dips/snacks as they had stopped taking orders.
Great food and location. Next to the River Thames. A good location to explore the area.
Located on Thames River side. Ambience and cleanliness are not gud.Food is good
I like the fact they have board games to offer, sit chill drink and play.
Just stopped for a drink. Great Riverside terrace. Dog friendly in the bar too. Beer good but not cheap!
It took them nearly an hour to serve just a cup of tea at the pub. Neeless to add, I would never visit again nor would I recomnend the place to anyone.
Amazing place to sit and while away some time just watching the boats on the river
Attended a family wedding, very accommodating, weather hot, lovely location on the river, a really good venue, a truly beautiful day......limited parking but there is a public car park close by.
Great setting by the river but unfortunately the food was extremely poor. Flavourless or just not what a dish should taste like. Thankfully we were offered a refund on 1 of the 4 meals we ordered. Service was shocking but only down to one employee who continued to give me the wrong answers but luckily the other staff seemed better trained and were able to correct her. Doubt Ill go back but if I do would be for drinks only.
Amaizing location by the river, good food and drink selection.Friendly staff, evenings can be busy.Absolutely recommended
Pub was very fun and dinner at Fullers was amazing. Room had everything we needed hosts were very helpful.
Went to the Swan with the family having met there quite a few times over the years. The positives. The staff are friendly, the location on the banks of the Thames is good too.The food was tasty...The negatives.Food was expensive for what it was and certainly not value for money. This wasnt just my opinion but that of the whole party.I had the "Isle of Wight tomato, caper, black olive and basil bruschetta" to start. This was £6.75 and consisted of a small slice of bread, about 3/4 of a tomato, some capers and black olives drizzled with some olive oil.....For the main I had the Chalcroft beef burger at £15.25. This consisted of a burger that was approx 4 inches across with gouda, lettuce "special sauce" and a small cup of triple cooked chips.Although tasty, small and sadly not value for money. My wife had the mozzarella salad, this was a fairly generous portion and she was happy with the taste and portion size. For the main she had the linguine, broccoli, squash and sun blushed tomatoes. This was basically a childs portion. Despite the size of the plate, the bowl part of it that contained the pasta was smaller than a small dessert bowl. This was £13.75.To be honest both mains were overpriced for what they were and were both small. We were surprised on how quiet the pub was for a Bank Holiday too.Despite the fact that we have been here many times in the past, this will be the last visit here, which is a shame. I dont mind paying a premium for good food, however this in my opinion is simply not worth it.
I didnt stay in the hotel, this is only for the pub. The location is exquisite, right on The Thames. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. And they have a big TV for football matches. We sat outside to enjoy the view. Cheers friends.
The rooms are lovely although metal bed frames are not the best choice. We stayed for a night and had one of the best sleeps in a while, everything was clean and felt fresh. The room had a coffee machine with a couple of choices and some tea to pick from too.The location is beautiful, straight on the river and close to town centre. Parking is very limited with only a couple of spaces outside. We had some drinks in the evening and as much as it was very loud while the football was on, the great atmosphere returned when the 90 mins were over. They have some board games available and it was such a fun way to spend the evening. The best part of our stay was definitely the breakfast. Its freshly cooked and so yummy.I wish we could come for breakfast only regularly.
Went here for lunch, the fish finger sandwich is the best Ive ever had washed down with a pint of London Pride. 😋😋
We visited via boat the moorings were good. They had a great selection of beers.Really helpful people a pleasant atmosphere and location.
Nice lunch food by River Thames near Staines Bridge on South Side. Good selection beer in an old pub/hotel. Enjoy. Parking only downside during busy hours.
Finally remembered to review the Swan. So I remember this place from my childhood in the 80s and 90s fondly. Fast forward a few decades! The Swan today is a really nice place to be, sympathetically updated to modern standards, with nice food and good selection of drinks. Staff are friendly and offer good service too. Spacious and comfortable seating, a real fire and views of the Thames too. I’m not hating on Staines but this must be one of the best place in Staines by a mile. Look forward to many future return visits.
The pub is friendly. The hotel is nice and quaint. The location is excellent, especially in the summer. However the food in the restaurant is very disappointing. If it wasnt for the staff and their service level, it would have got 2 stars from me.
Got there at 2.45 for lunch but had to eat in the bar as apparently there was going to be a party in the restaurant at 5. Why they cant clear a table for 2 in 2 hours is Inexplicable ! Apart from that the bar menu is not as good although the bar staff are excellent. Fish and chips were good !
Nice friendly pub/hotel, I know its a very old building, but hotel room floors very uneven, bit difficult as I wear a leg brace! staff amazingly helpful and friendly, just a shame they had ran out of milk, so no night time tea before bed and coffee in bar could only be offered with oat or soya milk!!! Generally, a good hotel that I would return to.
Came here for a nice drink after a stressful day at work or so I thought and it put me in an even worse mood! Connected to the WiFi and said you could order online as was sitting outside so we did. Then the First Lady came over and said oh we don’t use the online system anymore and don’t have this sharing board you can go to the bar and grab a menu and have a look at the food (good customer service would have been to bring us onshe refunded us the money for the sharing board and then another lady came out with our drinks and said oh we don’t do table service and said oh we don’t have the nuts you want and gave me an alternative which as this point I didn’t want so asked for a refund and she was being difficult! Wouldn’t come here again obviously the staff here have no customer service skills and don’t want to go the extra mile when it is quiet. Table is sticky and worn as well. Not worth the money for appalling customer service and rude staff!!!
Bathroom smelt like a mixture of sewage and broccoli. It stunk the whole room out and was quite unpleasant that we didn’t want to spend any time in the room. Told reception and just got a simple “sorry about that.” as they moved onto the next customer. We had to use the pub toilets downstairs as the smell was so bad and didn’t even want to use the shower!Overall disappointing and cannot recommend this hotel.
I‘m so happy this place is doing so well, it really deserves the good ratings. Everyone working there is so friendly and made us feel at home straight away. Great interior, amazing food and nice touches everywhere. Room was spacious and very clean. Our Sunday roast was especially nice, so was the breakfast. Can absolutely recommend!
Stayed here for one night. Got the dinner, breakfast and accommodation deal on their website. Good value. Yummy food. The rooms are nice and modern but small bathrooms. Friendly staff, nice venue!I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again next time I’m in the area.
The service was great, although I am not a fan of ordering online rather than at the bar or table service. We ordered 3 x Asahi draught and we have not had worse beers for a long time, especially at £6.45 each.Real shame as previously mentioned staff were great and the view is nice.We used to go there for Sunday lunch. Big disappointment coming back.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Amazing staff, great food, beautiful river setting, free parking and lovely rooms. My daughter and I stayed in hotels all week and I was so overly impressed with The Swan Hotel that I felt impelled to write a review. The staff were amazing - from the personable front desk reception to the waiting staff for the evening and also breakfast. So welcoming, helpful and accommodating. The food was amazing too.The room was lovely - spacious, comfy and clean. We only live in Putney, so didnt really need a hotel for Thorpe Park, but it was so worth it! And a 9 min drive to get to the Park!
Perfect overnight getaway from London. We had dinner and the food was outstanding. Staff were great and very friendly. Our room was exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Lovely location next to the Thames.
