What a lovely space to relax in. It has a great café and the seats were directly in the warm autumn sunshine.
A fantastic place to stay with beautiful rooms, comfy beds and a delicious breakfast with many options! Beautiful walka within the grounds in a great location! Wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.
Really interesting place to visit and have a coffee
Lovely setting for a mid ride coffee and cake.
I would say for the price a very average place to stay. Also, did not get what was sustainable about the place.
Stopped off for lunch only whilst on a long walk. Food very good: fresh, tasty and nicely presented. Very reasonably priced: £4.50 for a goat cheese and avocado sandwich with dressed salad and crisps
Lovely centre. Lots of interesting activities. Good cafe. Lovely views. Real peace and solitude. Love what their doing to the buildings. Their plans are excellent
Everybody is super friendly and interested, the rooms and bathrooms are nice, and weve been quite impressed by the overall ecological idea. Nice place to stay in a very nice environment.
Lovely cafe, good value meal options prepared fresh. Staff are attentive and I like the fact both café and grounds are dog friendly. The building is a bit tired, as its a recycled MoD facility, but all the more reason to use the place. Better cashflow, better facilities.
Love this place. Just on the SDW. Great walking stop for coffee and cake. Stopped a few times on the bike you. Prices are resonabe and food is great great set of staff.
I went with my friend to visit her sons grave. I was very impressed. A wonderful place. Nice cafe. Plus camping field. Im very tempted to buy a tent and stay there.
Had a beautiful funeral here, very beautiful woods and roundhouse
Lovely peaceful place. Good cafe and really nice cake. Good for a quiet chat with a friend.
Great food in the cafe; lovely walk around the grounds afterwards.
Amazing place with many courses available to learn various crafts and sustainable living and having a green burial site
Different in a good way. Friendly. Lovely natural surroundings. Good food, somewhere to go back to.
Horrible experience dealing with this organisation. I had booked to take part in a course which I was really looking forward to. However, less than 48hours before the course started I had to have a very unexpected, traumatic operation in hospital. My friends contacted the venue on my behalf beforehand to let them know I would not be able to attend.Once I was home, I contacted them to ask if would be possible to have any money back or any money off a future course seeing as this was such an unusual circumstance. The replies I had were quite rude, showing zero empathy. They were totally focussed on policy rather than looking after their customers - despite the fact this isnt an every day occurrence. They also pointed out how, due to the fact their admin fee is so high, it is unlikely they would refund or discount anyone ever - even if you are able to cancel much sooner than I was - so watch out! This was a total shock because you would think an organisation like this would be more considerate - or at least care about their customers experience. If I had had good customer service, I would have certainly become a regular customer as I was already eyeing up several other courses and events through the rest of the year. However, this experience has put me off so much that I felt it was important to warn other people.Watch out when youre booking anything here!
We went here as day visitors although there is the option to stay in the lodge or camp. In the few hours we were there, we saw a lot of activity including a natural funeral, a school trip and a group for adults with learning disabilities. It was good to see it being accessed by such a diverse group of people. We took 5 children and visited the grounds hoping to walk and have a picnic. On our way through the woodland however, it was difficult to find a place to stop and eat although there were some small benches intermittently along the path. It would be good to go back and explore the grounds more another time and perhaps take advantage of the cafe.I didnt look out for disabled facilities but there were steps leading into the shop and visitor centre. However, there was a disabled toilet in the visitor centre so there must be some access for wheelchairs. It would probably be worth ringing ahead to check out accessibility.
Excellent sustainable facilities. We camped here for 2 nights. Dog friendly (but keep on a lead). Compost toilets were not stinky and well maintained.
We went to visit the nature burial ground and we stopped for a cuppa in the lovely café. The food offer sounds really nice and sensible prices too.
Great cafe located here is very popular on a Sunday afternoon. Lovely food and the staff are fantastic. The walks are easy to negotiate and relaxing. Enjoyed our visit.
Large meals good price. Able to cater for large party of 16. But also very popular with local families
Had a lovely trip here. Comfy, clean rooms, really friendly service and great food. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area - and a very worthwhile business to support!
Beautiful place and improving every time we go. Lovely for a walk, great facilities and amazing conservation works
A place of huge global intention for our better world. Regeneration of ideas, Our Earth, and all things nature, local and now. The cafe [Food + Staff] is amazing and the walks around sublime. And what a great education opportunity for family, self and groups/schools/anyone. A lovely visit opportunity. Thank you all for all you are doing, SC....
Beautiful setting, fabulous for camping even in winter. And its well worth a visit to the Beech Cafe where they serve the most delicious breakfast!
I was at a funeral there today. The burial site is surrounded by trees. Its rather a lovely place to go walking as well, rather steep in places, so, stout walking footwear is recommended, especially in wet conditions.
Went to a friends funeral here. Stunning setting. Staff kind and friendly. Quite a walk on an incline but staff will transport you down if walking difficulties. RIP Sue x
Great cafe, with cycle parking. Has an outside tap for topping up water while hiking in the South Downs Way. Good quality b&b
Beautiful surroundings make for a lovely place to walk and enjoy the wildlife. Lovely café as well. Have stopped here many times whilst out cycling and will certainly visit again.
Great place to soak up the atmosphere (dog walking or wandering amongst the trees or both). Nice little coffee shop onsite. Its a charity run place worthy of support.
This place is just so brilliant. We always enjoy the Green Fair every year. I also visit the woodland burial ground to remember my mum ❤️
Very smart newly refurbished B&B lodge with simple health continental breakfast. Great location for the South Downs way for overnight stay.
Had a wonderful stay in a yurt here. Place is beautiful and relaxing. Wonderfully helpful staff. Would highly recommend. They do really interesting environmental and educational projects, too ❤️
Beautiful, a lovely calm and peaceful place. Al and the staff give a professional, courteous and discreet service to ensure everything runs smoothly. Just the place I want to be.
Attended a dear friends funeral here, it is a beautiful, peaceful setting. We were able to take our dog and had really good lunch after in the cafe.
Location is lovely, unfortunately myself and some fellow hikers had to endure a group of youngsters which decided to setup a nightclub and scream and shout with banging bass coming from somewhere until gone 2AM in the morning, then a local farm dog decided to bark for a couple of hours, oh and then a cockerel to tell me I hadnt had any sleep but it was time to pack up for another days walking.
Great food and really friendly staff. I left my sunglasses on a table by mistake and the staff kept them safe and returned them to me the next day. They even called me twice to confirm they had them. Really helpful.
Lovely place. Relaxing environment. Great workshops with Jonathan Huet.
Lovely place to visit in the spring and summer. The roads/paths are a bit uneven and steep in some places; may be tricky for some. This is also used as a natural burial site. Very relaxing and peaceful.
My Wife and Grandmother buried there. Very tranquil place to visit loved ones. Being a natural place the seasons change it wonderfully. Cafe is a brilliant vegan place run by a young couple who do fantastic food and it got a great ethos of sustainable living.
I camped here with my best mate on a Nostalgia Trip which took us back 17 years ago when we camped here in Year 5 at school. As a child, it captivated my imagination for its natural beauty, the education, the assault course that was once here, a former resident Turkey in the car park, the beauty in the funerals that loved ones can have as a final farewell and in general, a camping experience that has continued into my adult years. As an adult, I just adore this site. Hence why I decided to return for solo camping this week! It has everything you could want from your very own fire pit, hot water, a wash up area, drinking water available on site, toilets, showers, flat pitches, beautiful non-intrusive wildlife, stunning scenery which make for picturesque walks and most importantly, fantastic staff. Your staff are a credit to you! I received A* customer service from accommodation and the other departments who kept in touch to ensure that my visit would be spot on to the point I received a text message while I was away from site, alerting me that my wood had been stored in the wash up area under shelter due to the rain. I was very pleased with the level of service.
Absolutely love this campsite. I have been he five times throughout my life and I have enjoyed it all! It is based on the downs with lovely scenery surrounding. The yurts are the meaning of glamping and the compost toilets are just splendid! I would highly recommend coming here!!
Another drive out on a cold wet day. My husband had been here before so we went to explore. The young people behind the counter were lovely, had a great cuppa and cake. Everything environmentally friendly. Will go back again for a walk through the woods when it warms up.
Nice staff. A good place to stop relax and reflect. We stopped in the café and had a walk around the woods where the graves are.
Some beautiful views across the countryside in the area. I went to the sustainability centre for a fair and it was a lovely day out. The only thing I’d say is that it was a little expensive for what it was. Made me think that the centre might be a little overpriced. The speaker at one of the fair lectures was the driest speaker I’ve ever seen, but the stalls were interesting.
We come here for the natural burial ground, where a relative is interred. Always a peaceful atmosphere and nice to see ecology being promoted. Havent used the cafe or other facilities but they look decent enough
The Centre is a very special place. Woodlands, open space and activities. They are passionate about the environment and work hard to promote sustainable living through courses, education, a hostel, camping, cafe and more. Theres a natural burial ground (which is a very peaceful and beautiful area, not morbid at all!)They host the South Downs Green Fair, around the second Sunday of May, which is well worth visiting. Its a very popular event, with food, stalls, crafts, activities for all ages, talks and live music in the beer tent (great pairing).Well worth a visit.
Its amazing place. I liked so much!
We have visited numerous times.Forest school which is a welcoming fun environment for kids who love the outdoors. Rope swings, mud kitchen, scavenger hunts, firepit and so much more.We attended the green fair. Plenty of childrens activities as loads of stalls selling crafts, food or demonstrating some innovative ideas. Live music and good food and drink. Parking was a good mile away in a local field so be prepared to walk when visiting the site for a large event. Otherwise the normal onsite parking is decent enough. We have also enjoyed the sustainability centres open day. This demonstrated their activities, yurts and all the lovely things they get up to. Great staff. Well maintained site. This is a natural place offering some traditional cratfs and skills.
