The Strand at Carillon Miami in Miami Beach
Description
Privilege
Lisa the bartender was very amazing &vibrant she also made A good recommendation on getting the white truffle pizza
MoreI didn’t know how to review this restaurant, but I’ll be fair because I did had an amazing experience .First of all in the morning this place is a regular hotel breakfast restaurant with ok food nothing special, but at dinner, probably a different chef, it becomes to a great restaurant with a testing menu and wow factor experience !we loved every dish .and we had a feeling that it’s a secret gem , this place deserves to be full every night . We will be back
MoreCall me crazy, but I will write a review about a sandwich at this restaurant:Not a big fan of sandwiches! My wife chose this turkey bad boy. The sandwich was a wonderful experience! It has amazing juxtaposition between the turkey and the cheese and then the sautéed onions that they have on there. They also use a very wonderful daily aioli sauce . She requested hers to be warmed and it was great. I had to eat half of hers🤷🏻♂️🤣.
MoreThe ideas are there but the execution is a total miss. I had what was supposed to be a burratina, but it was essentially just a block of mozzarella with a drizzle of olive oil.My main course was lemon pepper chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken was overcooked and under seasoned. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were just boiled and blended with nothing else.
MoreGreat food, great jam, great brunch
I just ate there for lunch while having a spa day. The food was average at best and the service was at first acceptable. However, when my check came I noticed I had been charged three times for a club soda out of the fountain, not individual bottles. I asked the waiter why there was this mistake and he replied that they charge for each club soda. Club soda out of the fountain is essentially water so I was less than happy that they had not informed me they would be charging me $5 for each small 5 ounce glass they serve me.The waiter did not seem to care at all. When I mentioned this to management the floor supervisor nearly laughed at me and then said we dont have to tell you that were going to charge you for each refill, its not the law.Well that is certainly true, I find this type of business practice to be dishonest and predatory and hope that the $10 they made additionally is worth all of my future business as a local in Miami who plans to frequent the spa. I will never eat here again and I recommend no one else does either.
MoreWorst place in miami. Food is edible but service is awful. My wife ordered a chopped salad that came with spinach (which was not an ingredient listed on the menu). When she asked to order a new item because she disliked spinach they refused to refund the salad and we had to pay for the new item. Manager simply refused saying the item we ordered was described and made properly. We’ll never return.
MoreFood not a good qualityWaiter can not explain how food is preparedManagers are not politeWhen food that arrived at the table was not good quality, manager refuse to take it off the checkWe would never eat at this restaurant again
MoreBehold the world’s worst pizza featuring raw veggies atop lukewarm cheese. So bad, I had to order another meal. Came here for lunch during a spa day and wasn’t lucky with my selection. The other items leaving the kitchen looked decent so I’m looking forward to trying something else next time. The mocktail was delicious along with a beautiful outdoor setting and decor.
MoreWent with my 6m old baby. Went to sit at the patio. There was too much sun so we asked to have the umbrellas open. They were broken. Asked to seat at some couches that were in the shade. Was told by manager i could not sit there as those seats were for residents only. There were NO tables occupied in the whole patio. Manager was zero accommodating. Will not return.
MoreThe food is mediocre, masquerading as upscale. You expect pricing to be expensive as a hotel restaurant but this place is extremely overpriced. There are so many great restaurants in the area; do not waste your time or money on this one. What separates this place and why I ultimately was driven to writing this review is complete and utter lack of customer service from the management staff. In the event something goes wrong be sure that management will apologize profusely and proceed to do absolutely nothing to solve the problem. I’ll leave the particulars out, but you have been warned.
MoreI highly recommend this breakfast spot the employees are friendly well trained and very pleasant absolutely will go back
MoreTERRIBLE customer service. It’s the second and last time I went there. This time was Mother’s Day, it took 3 hours (yes! 3 hours!for us to leave WITHOUT ever getting the third course!! We called the manager, and her attitude and response was simply insane. They offered us 20% discount and half of the third courses to go (we were 6 people, so they gave us 3 third courses). We were surprised when we saw only 3 orders and asked about the other 3, here it is the manager’s response “or you get the 20% off or you get all 6 third courses”.I worked at restaurants before and I have never seen such a lack of professionalism and poor customer service as the one I received at the Strand. We basically did not eat, paid a lot and got a terrible service. Never going back! I definitely do not recommend this place. Save your money and go around the corner where you will find several great restaurants.
MoreWe were looking forward to this Mother’s Day experience, but after 1 hour into our brunch the food still had not arrived. Although the ambience was not bad, the service was super slow. We were looking at each other in disbelief; the food wasn’t good at all and most of the dishes did not arrive. I, on Mother’s Day, didn’t get my meal (main courseuntil after my family ate already. The whole experience was really bizarre, and it took forever for the food to arrive. The sole good thing about this place was the coffee that the manager made us. She was very kind and made them within 5 minutes of ordering them. I am sad to say how much this cost us; but we will never go back nor recommend the place to anybody.
MoreFamily member is a resident here so Ive been often. Usually exceptional but today (eveningand yesterday the hostesses were unhelpful and didnt know the menu when asking questions over phone. We also called yesterday repeatedly to order food to-go for lunch and no one was answering the phone. When my partner came downstairs to order the hostess was doing her hair in the mirror... Please train your hostesses better (coming from a former hostess). All the other staff are great, great food, great service.
MoreGreat view. Perfect for brunch
Extremely slow service and food was bland and over priced. Pasta was so terrible we had to put salt, pepper, and Tabasco to try to give it flavor. Our whole experience took 3 hours and our server took almost an hour to bring our one drink.
MoreNot very trendy and modern but the service is really nice and helpful
Okay, first off, the atmosphere of this place was great for a Valentines Day dinner. Very nice, romantic, intimate place. Our server was also friendly and attentive. The dinner available was a Valentines Day special, that offered a starter, appetizer, main course, and dessert. For our starter, we got the oysters, and they tasted fresh, but the shrimp that came with the oysters was a little sandy for me. Next came the appetizer, which was a shrimp scampi, which was very good. For our entree, this is where things went slightly downhill. We ordered the beef tenderloin for our entree, and once our server took our shrimp scampi plates, we waited for the entree to come out. Cue the wait for nearly 1.5 hours. I understand that it was Valentines Day and the wait was most likely going to be long, but 1.5 hours was a little ridiculous. The tables to our left and right ended up getting two of their next dishes before we got ours. Our server came 3 times to apologize for the long wait and assured us twice that the entree would be coming out right away, but it ended up taking almost an hour and a half. When it finally arrived, my partners was slightly underdone, which was no problem, and mine was overdone. I asked for mine medium, but received it closer to medium well/well done. Not only that, but on top of it, it was lukewarm, not even warm. Our server came and apologized again and brought the manager who then said he would take off the cost of one entire meal which I appreciated. We then were offered free drinks as compensation and asked for Sprite. Finally, came the dessert, which was probably the best thing we received. All in all, great service, but not the best of food, and I personally would not return to have dinner here.
MoreOverall I just recommend going to iHop across the street. Better service and yummier food with calorie info.First try:This is for the Breakfast “Buffet” - Priced at $35 per person. It does not include menu items, so no omelettes or French toasts that is separate. The buffet is so tiny, only scrambled eggs bacon, and some cold cuts. Some fruits.Truly a rip off, we get better food at airport lounges.Do not order buffet get a la carte if you want anything more than a scrambled that is watery and bacon that is super crisped.Second try:Had À la carte the second day and the service was not great. Lots of confusion about bringing us coffee. The food was good though.
MoreFood is pretty decent. 8 out of 10. Nothing on the menu that will blow you away. Biggest disappointment is the towels. $350 per night, I expect better bath towels then what you get at Motel 6.
MoreMessy service. Fish was not fresh. The chef was unavailable, only sous chef who was very nice but couldnt answer all my questions. My server was charming but he barely spoke English. Manager came from office to tell me that the fish was caught that day. He laughed and smiled a lot but he was lying, that fish was not fresh.
MoreDuring our stay here, ate lunch, dinner and snack. Mellow, convenient and delicious dining. Ingredients fresh. Lots of choices for gluten free, vegan as well as carnivores and pescatarians. Beautiful ocean side dining. Great entertainment in the bar on weekends. Romantic and good for friend and family. Service was excellent and attentive but is on the slower side, so if you are in a hurry, would need to let them know. We were on vacation, so no rush.
MoreTried this place before with my friend and I am addicted since then. I enjoy the great atmosphere and yummy food and drinks. Keep up the good work.
MoreExcellent lunch at $12 with wine.
Top
Wonderful food, chic and excellent staff
Great bar for a quiet drink overlooking the ocean . Cuisine has a perfect mediteranean flare of authenticity from the Italian born chef.
MoreThis used to be a nice place to eat. But since they changed the menu, the new items are utter garbage. A single, hard, unseasoned, half-cooked baked potato for $12? What about Italian dishes that have curry in them? Nonsense.. I dont know who the chef is, since both times we tried this he was not present in the restaurant. When we asked when the chef is usually in our question was met by looks and chuckles.Horrible place
MoreGreat buffet
Great spot with the best bartenders in Miami Beach. Sammie is a star!
The food and service were great. This is the black ink pasta and the strawberry spinach salad.
MoreI went for brunch but ended up leaving and going elsewhere. Food looks amazing, but this is not a brunch, its a lunch. Only a couple breakfast items... not worth the $65 if youre in the mood for breakfast food. Also, the website is misleading as the brunch menu has prices a la cart, making it seem like you have the option of buffet or ordering off the menu... you do not, its buffet only.
MorePerfect location and a classy and quiet place for happy hour! The service here is good if you sit at the bar. Known for slow service in general, but the bartenders are fabulous! Food and kitchen here is excellent and the patio is directly on the ocean. Get a bottle instead of a glass and enjoy the ocean breeze. Well worth a visit here. This is as high end a resort on the beach as you can find!
MoreGreat atmosphere & Espresso Martinis
Seemed very nice, we only went for a drink before we left for the airport so couldnt comment on food. Lovely hotel and view over the beach. Staff were very attentive and let us sit outside in the restaurant area (which was nearly empty to be fairinstead of making us sit inside at the bar, as we were only ordering drinks. High chairs available.
MoreThe best spot in SurfSide!!!!
Quiet for a Friday evening, but everything was excellent!!! The food, the view, the staff, the restaurant, all very good!
MoreGreat food, very nice atmosphere, outside area and very friendly staff/waiters. A bit expensive though...
MoreGreat Location but service was average and breakfast was cold
Great service and food! Check often because daily specials are well worth the visit!
MoreNice quiet clean environment with good food, a little pricey, small menu, small portions... Good service
MorePoor service. Mediocre food. And altogether a dreary experience.
Nice cool restaurant with great selection on the menu
Miami spice lunch menu, was looking for a memorable lunch date experience for a special moment, but did not happen waiter was good, food was just ok but tasteful. Nothing special but a great view and presentation of desserts. Ps: O and btw they added an additional service charge on top of the Gratuity to our bill ! So we pay to be serviced and cant tip according to there "service".
MoreFantastic food! Must haves: oysters and crab pappardelle. The complimentary bread and butter is delicious. And the butter is so creamy! They have a small taster which was fish salad on a chip and it was good.Im not an oyster person but they were amazing!! I could eat 12 alone. So creamy and I love the vinegar sauce on the side.I ordered the crab pasta. It is one of the best pastas Ive had. The pasta is flat and long. Cooked perfectly. Light buttery but delicious flavor. And the crab went with it well. The portion size was bigger than I was expecting too.Scallops were fresh and tasty but not a fan of the tomato and corn sauce.Great outdoor view.
MoreThis is a cozy Restaurant inside of the Carillon Resort, with a ocean view, nice atmosphere, staff very friendly, great menu ,appetizers and cocktails, beautiful salon for breakfast too with the ocean view
MoreIncredible food and atmosphere, the staff are pleasant and knowledgeable.
The food was an experience! If you are looking for an out of body experience you must go to the Strand. A sleek gastronomic restaurant where the courses are catorized by numbers. Chef Patrick puts together quite a menu, with foie gras being at the helm. This appetizer was so delicately made, it melts in your mouth. I had duck for my entre and my husband had the Gargenelli - pasta with rabbit both were excellent. But the highlight of the night was the lamb trio. The lamb was made 3 ways and was exquisite. This place is a must do and you wont be disappointed. Desserts were equally as good. Try the mango cardamom semifreddo dessert. The pistachio cake was as light as air with the mango icecream refreshing and cleaned your palate. If you appreciate excellent service -our waiter Sebastian was a cut above the best, ambiance and food go to the Strand!
MoreWe often dine here. Impeccable service, fabulous view of the moon rising over the ocean and great food. What more can you ask for!?
