This is a recently reopened pub - their kitchen is not open until next week, so I cant give a 5 star until that truely opens. Otherwise the staff are friendly, they have two ales on, a small back garden and their main space includes a working piano and ample seating - definitely one to watch!

What a fantastic boozer! This is one of the good uns!! Very friendly staff and a wide selection of quality beers and great food. Theres something here for everyone. The atmosphere cant be beaten either - a friendly, sociable mix of people, and on the night we went there was live music. If you didnt fancy that however you could always escape to the quiet beer garden at the back. This is a proper pub run by great people that really know what theyre doing - if youre in the area, you really should give it a try! You wont be disappointed!

I made a recent visit with friends and had a superb evening. Excellent pub with a great atmosphere and fantastic staff. In particular a mention for the manager ‘Roxanne’ who I found professional and very knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble and she regularly checked in with customers to ensure everyone was happy and well looked after.Highly recommended for a visit and I will definitely be returning again soon.

Unfortunately there was a little bit of an odd smell which lingered in the pub which ruined the experience. Perhaps it was a bad day. Great location for the locals of Dartmouth Park HIll however there are others like the Lord Palmerston and the St Johns Tavern which pip it for me.

Use to be a great local pub, been using it for the last 5 years but lately it has never got half the beers on , just dont know what is going on , it seems as though the landlord has lost all interest and needs to let go to someone who cares for the local community

For a wedding venue, maybe its great. Ive not visited one. But as a pub, its really poor. Food maybe on or not. You never know if its closed for a function or not so no point making last minute plans to eat there. Quality dropped. Drinks fridges only half stocked. Staff always new. This place used to be amazing years ago but nothing like that now. Much better quality pubs with great food in the area.

Unfortunately this place has really gone downhill, Im not quite sure why. It used to be fairly busy with a cosy atmosphere, very good food and a nice range of beers, but now the decors been stripped back, all the beer taps were off(!except Guinness, the food took forever to come, and was poor when it arrived. Sad to lose what was previously a quality local :(.

Atmistphere was a bit strange - a quiet place but ideal for catching up with friends and playing board games. The staff were very friendly and attentive but I sense not that experienced- drinks and food took a long time to come. However when it did come it was very good and the portions were really massive. I think it might be busier on weekends. Excellent music on the system though!

Lovely pub. Staff was friendly and beer was lively. Didnt try the gin. We wanted to order food, but gave a miss as plenty of people were waiting for their food.I might try again, not too soon though.

The team at The Star were wonderful hosts for our wedding reception. We received a fantastic service ensuring everything ran smoothly and everyone was well looked after. The food and drink were great and the venue proved perfect with a large main space for dancing and a beautiful gin bar on the first floor for those that needed a rest. Thanks again for all your hard work and a great night - we look forward to returning again soon! This used to be a lovely pub and my local when I lived in Dartmouth Park. I visited yesterday after nearly 2 years away and was very disappointed to see how much this place has changed. I got the feeling management were waiting to close down the pub which is really sad given how great this used to be. During my visit yesterday there were hardly any beers left on tap and the pub only offered 2 white wines, one of which they had to dispose of as undrinkable. This is despite a fairly long wine list on the website and I have to add that the 2 wines available weren’t even on the wine list! We had roast and, despite portions being fairly generous, the quality of the food was very poor. The pork belly was replaced by 2 thick and dry slices of pork loin, a different cut of meat altogether. The potatoes were soggy and the Yorkshire pudding a small flat thing. It’s such a pity to see such a great pub become a shadow of its former self. I hope management will put some efforts in to bring it back to its former glory.

Nice pub with very high windows that let in a lot of light. Good drinks but wow the service was slow and uncoordinated. Waited a good 45 mins for some bangers and mash although there were maybe 2 other tables that had ordered food.

The bar maid had no idea what she was doing, it took forever to get a G&T. The tomic came from a large bottle of tesco tonic and it was flat and she was confused when I asked for a new one.Two other members of staff didnt help. This was on a late Sunday afternoon with hardly any customers!

We visit this place on a regular basis and decided to hold our wedding here as it has always been such a lovely place. The way the staff decorated the place was amazing, food was excellent and delivered to our guests promptly, the whole setting was just brilliant and it made our day.Our guests called us the week after to say what an amazing day they had and how great the venue was, I would fully recommend this venue for a wedding or any occasion come to that, great place.

Poor. Zero atmosphere, not helped by the fact they kept constantly skipping songs on the background music and had a weird Benny Hill compilation projected on the wall, which was just creepy.Food was hugely disappointing - nothing like what was offered on the online menu. Baked camembert was lukewarm and only half-melted, cold meats clearly straight out of a packet but also passed their sell by date as the edges were crusty and hard. Worst of all was a burger for £13.50, which suggested a nice home-made patty, but was clearly an out of the packet monstrosity from a supermarket. Utterly unappetising and we stopped eating them after one bite.Seriously disappointing.

Just to caveat I never ever leave bad reviews. So after spending ages trying to get a waitresses attention we tried to order our starters and then were told they had run out. We ordered bread to start instead and after chasing twice it never came so we eventually gave up. Any service received was only because we had to chase it, eg. ordering food, getting menus, getting the bill. It was like we were invisible. The ladies toilets were out of order so I was directed to toilets upstairs (I had to figure out where the upstairs wereand the doors were covered in wet paint which I got all over my hand. After chasing for the dessert menu they then had completely forgotten they gave it to us so it took ages for us to get someone to take our order again. The food was good though, can’t complain about that but would never go back just based on the terrible service.

This is a really great looking pub and a find as it is of the beaten track. Friendly bar staff and a good kitchen serving some tasty food. I had the sirloin steak which is cooked sous vide style and tasted great along with some excellent big crunchy chips. Have only been during the week and was quite quiet.

Went there for Sunday lunch, unfortunately never made it to our mains as it took already an hour for the starters to arrive. Even a piece of bread took 30min to arrive at the table. Staff, while friendly-ish, totally unable to cope with the workload. No apologies nothing. If they were so busy and itd take so long they could have at least advised us before ordering, especially with two kids. Very unprofessional and disappoining....

Small, cosy boozer. Its a little out of the way of youre not from the local neighbourhood as its tucked away in a residential area. Lovely and quiet in the day, a great place for a pint and a good book.

Really nice pub, had a sirloin roast after forcefully getting seated and finally got recognised to order! To be fair it was busy. Fatty steak boiled potatoes( not roasted at all). Too much oil which was supposed to get the spuds crispy.

Had our wedding reception here on the 8th of August after having been customers for some time. The pub was incredible, the food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. Duncan and his team made the whole thing from organisation right through to the day so easy, and were super accommodating. The food here is always great - highly recommended!

Not a great roast, we were a 3pm table but still. The meat was almost cold, potatoes dry and the Yorkshire pudding a lump. Very nice staff tho and they offered a free dinner for one of us. Im told it usually good so maybe you will have better luck.

Went with friends after a long walk on the heath because had heard it was a good place. The atmosphere was pleasant and light and the real ales good. However, four out of the six of us were deeply disappointed with the food. It was a Sunday and three of us ordered roasts. The beef was chewy and tasteless, the Yorkshires seemed like cardboard as if they had been kept over from the day before and some of the veg were under cooked. My friend had a pie and said it was awful. Shame as looks like a nice place and the menu seems good.Perhaps the chef had a bad day. When we paid and were asked how the food was and told them, they apologised and brought us a port each.

I just accidentally stopped by this place, that looks more like a pub on first sight. However it is a really good restaurant. All I ordered was a simple risotto with beans, but it proved to be one of the best ones I ever had. I liked the fact, that the background music included some Jimi Hendrix song - not too loud of course. The wine and the espresso could be better though, if you apply really high standards. I will certainly recommend this place to some of my german friends, who visit London on a regular basis, to see, if the quality of the food really stays like that.

Admittedly off the beaten path, this warm and cozy pub is certainly worth a visit. With beautiful large windows and high ceilings, it has fantastic ambiance! We went on a Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised -- for such a nice pub it didnt have the normal Saturday night mob of people. A perfect place to go with a large group of friends, pop out a board game and hang out for a few pints.

Been here a couple of times now. Each time its been fairly empty, but the bartenders are friendly.Overall, its a quiet, relaxing local - but expensive! Two and a half pints cost us just under 12 quid! Then again, we were drinking Hoegaarden... Im just glad to have a local pub that serves a beer I love on tap.I finally tried the food last time I was here. I ordered gazpacho but it took close to an hour to get it because the guy forgot to put my order in... even though there were only two or three other groups at the pub and I was one of two people ordering something from the bar in about a 20 minute time period. They made up for it by giving me a free pint, but still! Its not my favourite place by any means, but its one of the better locals - even though the constant emptiness is a little odd - and has a decent beer selection. Ill likely be back next time Im in the mood for a nightcap.

A great place to spend a Sunday afternoon after a walk on Hampstead Heath. Last time I was there I had the pork belly and it was delicious and very reasonably priced. For pudding they stock ice cream from Ruby Violet, a local ice cream parlour in Tuffnel Park. The staff are really friendly and they have a secret beer garden to drink in when the sun is shining. #Irishtini
